Hi eds

Long time reader and very occasional poster .
Firstly love this site and a big kudos to all the eds and posters for making this site what it is apart from the few that like to make it difficult, however my question is for ed1 specifically as I don't recall reading your view on our keeper situation and would love your opinion.

Basically ed1 would you give Karius another season to banish the demons from the UCL final and see if he has what it takes to make the position his for the long term knowing that an Allison seems out of reach or would you change for the sake of change just because we seem to think that he is scarred beyond repair .

Again thanks in advance and can't wait for the new season to commence as I see us really contending on all fronts next season

Kind regards.

Aussie Jim

Hello eds

Hope you are all well.
My question is regarding Emre Can if I may please .
Now we all know that it looks likely that he will move on at the end of the year due to reasons already discussed, however my question is that considering he is playing week in week out on a regular basis for well over 12-18 months and will do so going forward and seems secure in the team where are his concerns coming from?
Going forward is he concerned that may not be the case .

Also ED 1 iwith your legends articles which are absolutely fantastic could I add Dejan Savicevic from AC Milan who they called the genius, was an exceptional player during their great era .

Thanks again .

Aussie Jim

{Ed001's Note - Can knows that Klopp is not entirely convinced by him, he is not first choice for us, so I can't see any circumstances under which he would change his mind.

Thank you for the compliment and a great shout. His name is always one of the first to pop up in any conversation about great players from that era.}

1.) 21 Oct 2017 05:39:23
Right now when all the midfielders are fit, Coutinho, Gini and Hendo seem to be Klopp's first choice midfield with Lallana the first backup. Can is basically 5th choice and I don't think he wants that. Plus Keita will push him further down the pecking order.
Makes sense for the player to move on.

2.) 21 Oct 2017 08:31:45
Wasn't he called The Professor?

3.) 21 Oct 2017 08:31:37
Then Klopp is blatantly wrong. Can is head and shoulders above both Hendo and Wijnaldum. Why do you think Alegri see him as first choice? It is not like Juventus do not have central midfielders!

How could anyone keeps picking Wijnaldum ahead of anyone is beyong me!

4.) 21 Oct 2017 09:25:49
Harry you should be the new manager mate, you seem to know more then even Klopp so why not give it a go?

{Ed025's Note - harry is contracted to this site corleone..so no chance mate..

5.) 21 Oct 2017 09:34:43
I don't actually rate Can that highly and won't be too bothered if and when he leaves. I know he has his moments and is a bit of a tank but he's not really that special and I don't think he offers much defensively or offensively.

Lallana and Couts in CM for me when everyone is fit again.

6.) 21 Oct 2017 09:45:39
Hahaha gutted mate I thought he could really improve things ;)

{Ed025's Note - im sure he would corleone but he has been head hunted before but his loyalty unquestionable mate...so its a no go im afraid..

7.) 21 Oct 2017 09:48:40
Klopp is as wrong as any other manager who is wrong out there when they are actually wrong! Ofcourse unless you are “ Klopp can’t do any wrong “ guy 😄😄. Klopp has been proved wrong for more than 10 times atleast!
For example he keeps picking Mignolet when it’s clear he is a terrible goal keeper! Or do you want to justify that selection mate?

8.) 21 Oct 2017 10:35:59
I can't argue with that Harry mate, point is, what manager doesn't get things wrong? Klopp isn't perfect, what manager is. He does get things wrong and I agree choosing Migs is a big mistake on his behalf but this doesn't mean he's as terrible as you make out mate. He knows more then us.

9.) 21 Oct 2017 11:04:07
The Gini-Can conundrum is pointless. Can is gone in the summer and Gini will be on the bench next season when Keita arrives. Neither are future first team players for us so Klopp is making do with what he has at his disposal. Our midfield options are not great right now but pretty sure by the time next summer transfer window ends, we will have a very competent midfield capable of scoring and assisting goals galore and protecting our defense.

10.) 21 Oct 2017 11:52:49
Not entirely true eds suggested if his form doesn't improve Henderson could be out the door which though sad is the right thing to do, sentiment doesn't win games. The issue is who would buy him and pay him as much, I doubt he'd want to go, none of the teams above us would take him.

11.) 21 Oct 2017 12:10:21
Exactly Corrlone! That’s all I have claimed on the page! He is sometimes wrong just like any other guy. What piss me off is when people cover it with big toilet papers! Let’s actually not pretend!

Wijnaldum is like the son of the god according to Klopp! If you think so you too could join the hands! I don’t! I still think he was another wrong purchase when the money could have gone in to buy a solid Holdng mid last summer and actually played Henderson in his natural position!
Now after almost two years you come to the same drawing point that this team need a holding mid which will see the end of either Wijnaldum ot Henderson!

I am sorry but he has got a lot of things wrong like Karius, Robertson, Lovren, Matip, Klavan, Grujic etc! I am not going into AOC yet!

12.) 21 Oct 2017 14:27:15
Klopp doesn't keep picking mugs because he has blue eyes. Clearly migs does enough in training to be picked.

13.) 21 Oct 2017 14:49:03
And then the same Migs bottle it on the pitch! Who cares a damn about training! No points are won on training. I assume Karius and Ward must be bonkers on training.

14.) 21 Oct 2017 15:27:57
Here we go again. Attacking Klopp based on an opinion as to why Can isn't signing a new contract.

Can has a contract and he is honouring it and giving his all. I have no problem with that. If he wants to then move on because he (or his people) has had discussions with team (s) that win their leagues and win/ get to Champions League finals then best of luck to him if he is out of contract.

He didn't grow up as a Liverpool fan like us and so perhaps has a different view of the world. A rumour coming out that it's because he isn't sure of his role/ place in the team is nonsense, he has played loads of games. Any player not signing a new contract going into their last year is taking a huge risk of serious injury. It means they have decided to go, like Sanchez and Ozil have. Best of luck to him, he clearly has something lined up.

{Ed001's Note - it is not a rumour, nor is it nonsense. He has made it quite clear why he has chosen not to sign.}

15.) 21 Oct 2017 16:42:40
Ok Ed01, fair enough. But I'm not fully believing him. He probably doesn't want to go around saying I want to run down my contract because I have an agreement to join a team that currently more successful than Liverpool, I'll have a better chance to win silverware, arriving on a free I will get a huge contract and my profile will increase for other sponsorship deals etc. and it will help cement my international place. It is basically the right move in my career right now.

Again, I can't argue with the lad. He is honouring a contract and can do whatever he wants after that. But some fans would take it badly and might turn on him if he suggested any club is better than our LFC. So saying it's because of his role in the team or game time is a bit easier and less insulting to some Liverpool fans. That's all.

I'm just saying to people having a go at Klopp about it, don't. Can isn't heading off to a mid table team for game time.

{Ed001's Note - but that isn't what is happening. He wanted to join them this summer, Liverpool rejected a number of bids for him. The money is irrelevant, we have offered him much more money than Juve can. It is that Juventus have told him exactly how they plan to use him, whereas Klopp wanted to replace him with Keita in the summer. You can argue all you want but you are wrong and this is not about opinions so this conversation is pointless.}

16.) 21 Oct 2017 16:57:33
Klopp is wrong. Do you have a problem Fitzy? Hendo and Wiji over Can is a proper joke! Wijnaldum should have never been brought and Hendo at the very best wouldn’t get ahead of neither Keita or Can.
Can wants to leave coz Klopp prefers Hendo and Wijnaldum!

17.) 21 Oct 2017 17:32:53
Do I have a problem Harry? Yes, your constant state of anger is boring me at this stage.

18.) 21 Oct 2017 17:34:37
Ok Ed01. Fair enough. I actually see your point. I can admit I might have got this one wrong. Keep up the good work.

Hi ed1

If I may I would like to ask your opinion on our young goal keeper Grbara.
From the little I have seen on the LFC channel he seems quite competent but also very good with his feet something Mignolet struggles with.
Is he highly thought of for the future .

Secondly regarding Brewster and I know this is in response to the last game he had but he seems so composed for a kid playing against players a lot older and does not seem fazed.
Hopefully another Fowler in the making and before I get told to calm down we are due for one exceptional gem coming through .

Thanks in advance.

Aussie Jim

{Ed001's Note - they are both seen as a long way of being ready for the first team, though kids at that age can make huge advances at any time.}

Hi eds and a happy new year to all

Haven't posted in a long time but am an avid reader of this fantastic site daily which we are lucky to have thanks to you eds.
A question to Ed 01 if possible regarding Sturridge if I may .
With his injuries over the past couple of years have obviously affected his burst of pace which gave him a big advantage over most defenders in the first yard or two, would you think that that can be regained or is it his body just not allowing him to do it anymore .
The reason I ask this is that someone like Torres for me had a similar burst of pace pre injuries and it's seems he never regained it and as consequence wasn't the same player again . The same probably applies to how Owens career panned out .
Would you think that he would have to remodel his game to adjust to this and can he be as successful as I think he is still a fantastic finisher .
Thanks again for keeping us fans up to date on all things Liverpool.

Aussie Jim

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely he will recover it quickly enough to benefit him and will require him to alter his game. The latest studies have shown that the brain retrains itself after an injury of the type he suffered, it alters the way the injured person walks and runs to try and stop injuries recurring. It can be a long process to retrain the brain to allow sprints etc.

However, in Sturridge's case, he still has lightning quick feet, fantastic technical ability and a powerful shot, added to the mental capacity to remain calm and composed on the ball. I believe he could learn to become better, with less reliance on pure acceleration. It does come down to him learning the right lessons, which depends a lot on the coaching he gets.}

1.) 05 Jan 2017 10:10:03
Thanks for the prompt reply Ed.

It seems that Klopp rates him highly so for his sake I hope he can stay injury free.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed!}

2.) 05 Jan 2017 13:00:17
I hope his use being so sparse is to allow him to be 100% solid fit. That we keep him then next year unleash him. He's such an immense talent that has been screwed through injury. We are finally in a place with our squad that we don't need to rely on a single player like years past, allowing him the proper time to recover. I would love for him to stay and have a complete season with us injury free (mostly) .

3.) 05 Jan 2017 14:59:20
Sturridges time imo at Liverpool is over come summer. He's a great player WHEN FIT which isn't often is it? No point beating around the Bush about it, his time at Liverpool is about to end and although I rate the lad highly, to be quite Frank it's about time. He's done nothing for a few years, time to let him go. Some people tend to think he will be back to how he was 3 years ago. It's not going to happen, how long do you want to wait?

4.) 05 Jan 2017 17:39:08
Completely disagree with all that. He is still a very good player and I think we should hang on to him. Great finisher, quick feet and keeps his head up. Who would want him scoring goals for our rivals?

5.) 05 Jan 2017 22:25:14
Yeah but would he be scoring goals for rivals? if he's injured all the time it isn't going to happen is it. He's a complete waste of wages I really don't understand why people keep holding onto the thought that he will make it half decent again, he isn't going to which is unfortunate because he really was the big deal, he hasn't got that anymore. Game over. He comes back plays a few games and then get's injured after scoring maybe a goal, not good enough. I want the best for Liverpool, he isn't the best anymore, he was good a few years ago and ever since have we been able to rely on him? no. Origi is the one now, I like Sturridge but not for us, sooner we flog him the better because things won't change.

{Ed025's Note - hes possibly the most skillful player in the side 16, and the money you would get for him i think it would be best to keep him even if he is only used sparingly, hes a game changer and a match winner and they are worth their weight in gold, yes hes frustrating and a sulk but when hes on blob mate there is not many better in the EPL..

Hi eds and fellow reds

Not posted in a long time but I'm a daily visitor to this site and being so far away Australia it gives me great pleasure to be able to keep up to date with all the info that is provided on this site. A big thank you to the eds who give up a lot of their free time to keep this site going.

Firstly eds if I can direct a question to you. I read a couple of weeks ago that Addidas were prepared to stump up half of Messi's buy out clause for him to go to Chelsea. Now I'm not privy to how the transfer system exactly works over there but surely it must be illegal.

Now onto our season so far and I must admit to being extremely happy with the progress being made this year Under Brendan Rodgers, who I think has done a very good job so far and is constantly evolving as time goes on.
Also I have read numerous posts about the pros and cons of Lucas and is he really any good. All I can say is anybody remember Makelele. He to was not a standout player who didn't score many goals, but Real Madrid never recovered in my opinion when they let him go to Chelsea who benefited from this so don't knock anyone who is not your stereotypical superstar for we would be a less of a team without him.

Looking forward to the rest of the season and hoping for top4 and beyond.
Love the site
Aussie Jim {Ed001's Note - it is not illegal for a sponsor to agree to pay money towards a transfer, but it is not true that Adidas were prepared to do so. It would be a pointless thing for them to do, not sure who dreamt that lunacy up!}
