Hi Eds.
I heard we are interested in Aubameyang. Any news from you?
Thank you.

Ayaz86

{Ed002's Note - No and the player previously said that he did not expect to be working with Klopp again. Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have a declared interest in Aubameyang but the player wants Real Madrid although they have another primary target. If they can unload Benzema, which they are rying very hard to do, and if Ronaldo accepts a proposal that will be put to him or their primary target drops out of the picture, then Real Madrid may return and may look to offer Morata as part of a deal with Dortmund - but right now their interest has gone. Chelsea's interest has waned once it became clear the player wanted elsewhere but they may return in the summer - we will need to wait and see. Aubameyang seems to think Barcelona will be an option - but they won't be unless one of the front three were to leave.}

When Emre Can is signing new contract? He is important player to the club. Keita is not happening so we need to keep him.
Thank you.

Hi Eds.
If we finish in top 4 do you think this is the good season for us. Starting of the season we were title contenders but after new year we were start losing points. I think because of injuries to our players cost us. We have good depth in squad like Chelsea and city we were still there.
Thanks.

Ayaz86

{Ed002's Note - No I don't see it as a good season.}

1.) 03 May 2017 12:44:17
Champions League qualification was crucial this season, if we can start next season the same way we did this season we could win it next season so long as we improve the squad as a whole. Need better players who can push each other in most positions. It really excites me because if it wasnt for our bad period in January when we had so many players missing we could of challenged.

2.) 03 May 2017 13:27:50
Yes it's a good season. Last season we finished 8th a long way off anything. This season finishing forth or third would be an over achievement. At the start of the season it was expected chelsea, city and united would fight for the title and spurs, arsenal and Liverpool (because of the advantage of no Europe) would fight it out for 4. We started the season with the termoil of no left back, our number 1 GK injured, new signings to bed in. We had a great first few months until even more injuries and AFCON. That was 2 months of all our key players being out for different reasons: mane, coutinho, matip, hendo, sturidge, lallana. In this period players like woodburn, ojo, Randell, wilson, Taa, Stewart, klavan were all relyed upon a little too often leading to poor results in the league and cups for much of Christmas and January/ February. After all that we will hopefully win the battle for 4th which was our highest hope for the season back in august and most fans and pundits had written us off. Only 1 of 8 sky sports pundits predicted us to finish in the top 4 (ex manager tommo) and he was ridiculed for his blantent bias. Top 4 is a good season for us after a transfer window with no net spend. No January buys. Lots of impact injuries (not muscle / fatigue injuries) . The only disappointments are the cup runs which I've delt with were caused by squad issues. 3 games to go and we're fighting for 3rd. Successful no, there's nothing to fill the cabinets but hopefully we can flood the bank balance and unlock our higher band sponsorship deals.

3.) 03 May 2017 13:33:50
I would say that with Top 4, this would be a satisfactory season, trying to view things from the owners perspective (which I think Ed002 is trying to do in her comments, dispassionate informed observer rather than passionate fan as Ed001 and most of us are) .

A "good" season would have been a cup and still challenging come the last few games of the season.

An "excellent" season would be winning the league.

"Awesome" may include the league and one or more cups.

Would this rough guide be a fair approximation of the owners views, Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - The owners expectation is that Liverpool should be winning the league - that is why they have spent considerable money and that is what Klopp promised.}

4.) 03 May 2017 14:01:31
Achieving the absolute minimum expected standard is not a good season, it's just that - the minimum point before we could call it another bad season.

5.) 03 May 2017 14:03:59
Hey ed, a little side question, if we manage to secure Champions League, would you expect Coutinho to stay, even though Barcelona are pushing for him?

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it would make any difference.}

6.) 03 May 2017 14:25:07
If he did go then ed would you expect us to push for a direct replacement for him, or are the players we are looking at (Brandt) already seen as a replacement? Surely loosing a key player would need a replacement of equal ability?

{Ed002's Note - It would make space in the side for Brandt who otherwise would probably not make the move - so it would make him a possibility. But as I have said, Liverpool will look to keep Coutinho.}

7.) 03 May 2017 14:49:12
Cheers ed. Appreciate and respect your information and update, its not always the news we want to hear but would rather you be honest mate. Thanks again.

8.) 03 May 2017 14:57:57
If Chelsea win there game in hand we are 15 points off 1st place having been in the driving seat for the title at Christmas.

From that perspective it has been a bad season. Not to mention than Klopp has promised the owners the league title. We got knocked out of the EFL cup in an embarrassing fashion failing to score over 2 legs, and knocked out of the FA cup by a Championship team.

However if at the start of the season I'd been offered a top 4 place, I'd have taken it but probably would've said 'top 4 and a cup'.

Considering we had no CL we should've done better really. Live and learn.

9.) 03 May 2017 15:01:02
We live and die in mediocrity that top 4 has become an achievement. No guarantee we will maintain the position next season. Dumped out from all possible competitions as early as the draw were out. Still fighting hard to secure the CL spot inspite of playing just one match a week.

A massive 15 points off from the 1st place and 3 above the 4th place. Resigned of loosing the best player. I can't believe but what's so proud of?

10.) 03 May 2017 15:03:26
Coutinho is the best passer in the team and much more than just a wide player. Brandt is not in his class and without Couts we will struggle creating clear cut chances. We have none bar him to dictate the game and pick those little pockets in the space. I have no hopes on Hendo, Can and Wiji. Mark my words we will struggle if we end up selling him!

11.) 03 May 2017 15:18:16
Well we need to get use to life without PC chaps im affraid. Sounds like the writing is on the wall. I agree what's been said about replacing him although Brandt is more direct so maybe him and Mane down the wings with Firmino up top it might be a better option.

12.) 03 May 2017 16:32:35
Sorry Harry, dumped out of the competitions as early as the draws were out? We were in the semi final of the league cup and in the driving seat for the title at the halfway point - we went out of 1/ 3 of the competitions early! Granted we haven't got the intended result in any of them but don't exaggerate, it's hardly helpful or practical.

13.) 03 May 2017 16:32:38
On the basis of the last 10 years it's a good season, but we should be aiming to be top 4 consistently and winning cups (very good season) and then every 2-3 years winning the league or CL (a fantastic season)

14.) 03 May 2017 16:49:17
A good season would have included a cup win and possibly 2nd in the league, especially with no European football to cope with!

15.) 03 May 2017 16:51:03
If Coutinho needs to be moved on to make room for Brandt, I will no thank you to Brandt.

{Ed002's Note - That dependency does not exist - Liverpool will not be looking to sell Coutinho to fit in JB.}

16.) 03 May 2017 16:52:19
"But he promised the owners the league and didn't keep his promise to the poor owners! ". who gives a f#@k about the owners. Any reasonable supporter would have jumped on top 4 at the start of the season.

17.) 03 May 2017 17:45:42
Good work Emre 😎.

18.) 03 May 2017 18:44:21
Top 4 is all that can be expected with this team and the lack of money the owners have given Klopp. Fsg need to wake up and stop this nonsense of hanging on every promise made. These are astute buisness men, right? Yet they act so naive that they think Klopp is a miricle worker, turning water into wine as such. These guys have no clue about football or the Premier League and coming out with "Klopp promised them the League" is just trying to shift the blame when it goes tits up.

19.) 03 May 2017 20:19:41
Just like City struggle without Silva with all their superstars on the pitch We will struggle without Coutinho. As soon as the clock tick to the 10 minute mark we see Couts slowly dropping into the midfield picking up the ball and carrying it forward and picking those pockets. He is such vital for us to function. One player with genuine class and top vision to find spaces between lines. There are hardly any like to like players. 18 managers deploy a player or a tactic to stop him as they know he is the supply of every attacks.

No wonder the whole world tips him to be the successor of the best Midfielder Iniesta!

We will have to convince him at any cost!

CL will mean nothing if we were to loose Phil!

20.) 03 May 2017 20:34:33
Not being funny Emre, but if I told my boss at work I could set up a production line using the equipment we already had, and then after 6 months went to him and said 'sorry boss, I got it all wrong and need £250k of investment. We've let the paying customers down' I would most likely lose my job.

I am not saying Klopp should be sacked by the way. Football is an almost unique industry in that there are so many variables to factor in that it is much harder to make commitments you can definitely stick to.

However, the fact is Klopp got it very wrong and in a season without European football to contend with, we should've been challenging for the title or at least a domestic cup.

I love Klopp and think he will take us back to glory, but stop giving him a free ride. It seems people either want him sacked, or think he is a god. The truth is somewhere in between!

21.) 03 May 2017 21:51:07
I don't think he's a God, but were lucky to have him. by the way, what attitude should a new manager come into the club with? should he say and believe he can win the league or should he just accept its impossible and not try to push towards it?

{Ed002's Note - All excuses for the manager are accepted.}

22.) 04 May 2017 00:06:52
If you thought we would win the PL with the team we currently have, the injuries, lack of decent depth and inconsistencies that currently plague this team, then that is your fault for believing in fairy dust. If Klopp said he would win the PL to the owners then he too is just as deluded. We were NEVER in the driver's seat for the title under any circumstances. We were only top of the table ONCE all season so how were we in the driver's seat?

Remember, this is the same team that our own fans thought would be lucky to make 5th YET many on here want to slate it for not winning the league. That is just illogical. That makes no sense. We have had a very good season and if we make 3rd, I will be happy with it.

Acting as if Klopp failed cos he didn't win the league is just nonsense as NOBODY has won the PL for us so why is Klopp suddenly being judged on that standard? I suggest people just pipe down and realize who and what we are and start dreaming with their eyes open. Klopp is not a miracle worker and cannot manufacture a PL title from this squad with as many wholes in it as a slice of swiss cheese. That is asking for too much, even for Klopp.

23.) 04 May 2017 13:40:53
I'm pleased that we have been competing for the title for half a season with a solid 1st 11. Pleased that we have dominated the games with the other top 6 clubs. Pleased to have made progress from last season and pleased that we haven't wasted money in the transfer market on unsuitable players.

I'm disappointed our challenge faded with injuries, disappointed in the cup performances and disappointed that we can't seem to break down organised but less talented defences. If we get top 4 it will be an 'at least' season. Not good, not bad, but offering hope for squad building and further progression.

28 Feb 2017 15:44:50
Hi Eds.
After January our performance level is gone down. We are beaten by bottom half teams. Is that because of Klopp intensive training. Some ex players mentioned it. What you think.

Ayaz86

{Ed001's Note - nope, that is just an excuse by ex players trying to defend fellow players poor attitude.}

1.) 28 Feb 2017 17:02:48
Ed its not attitude lad.

Its not fitness either.

Sorry to say but its the system.

Not plan be like ling balling it and changing our core priniciples but finding more than one way of playing that enables us to do what we do.

Like hiw we lookee bett3r when moreno and origi came on but that should of changed after 45 minutes.

Also differentiating between away games and home games. Gettint smart. Counter attacking and playing deeper etc. Adding or removing an extra cm for certain gamed. Playing 3 at the back to help lucas out. Making HALF TIME CHANGES (2-0 down and nothiny) . No subs before 80 minutes?

We new last night they would be pumped and did nothing to counter thay and its an arrogance from the person who picks the team. he should of set us up a lot more defensive. that's what we are missing.

Our way of playing wins probably 65/ 70% of games, because when were good were good but we need to find a a way to win the extra 15/ 20% need to start winning leagues and regular xhampionsleague qual.

Hes our manager and i don't eant that to change even in the slightest but he has to change his way of thinking throughout the season.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so.}

2.) 28 Feb 2017 17:10:38
Ed how come klopp doesn't play his old Dortmund formation with us? Two holding mids and a pressing cam. We seem to play one holding mid and two cans. Surely we would be a bit more solid?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know Lerchy. He likes kopflose huhn style of play where young men run very quickly at the opposition.}

3.) 28 Feb 2017 18:18:20
Mane its attitude AND the system, sticking to the same system against every single team is just a reflection of the arrogance the players show when they step out onto the pitch. The players think they are too good to get beat, as does the manager.

4.) 28 Feb 2017 19:15:31
Yeah true anonymous the players do pick the team.

Say both our dads pitted us against eachother in a duel and my dad gave me a hammer and your dad gave you a spoon. Has he set you up properly for the task at hand? Should he take any of the blame if you lost?

The point is if the system we play gets defended really easily against the one your playing then 1/ how are you going to blame the players if they weren't fiven the right tools for job at hand and 2/ by your logic why do we need managers?

Tactics is the word out of all of that.

How much space was mane getting againt albrighton and fuchs. he qould of been better on the left. Firnino against huth and morgan wasnt working but that was obvious so get origi on to get in behind them, nit a lot of pace there. Those changes are they up to the llayer or the mabager?

5.) 28 Feb 2017 21:24:50
Supermane, maybe the reason why we looked better with Origi, Moreno and Woodburn was because all of a sudden there was 3 players on the pitch who cared? They had a point to prove unlike the rest of the team who seemed to think that their result vs Spurs gave them a free pass to not really showing up yesterday.

It would also explain why the only player who started the game who seemed to care was Emre Can. I'm not saying he was good by the way (he is not a holding midfielder) but he certainly put in 100%.

Rotation is tricky but sometimes it helps keep players hungry. Like Conte occassionally dropping Fabregas or William into the team and basically without any words saying "go on, prove you should start next week". Fabregas and Willian aren't even that good, but they turn it up a notch to try and stay in the team!

6.) 28 Feb 2017 21:45:03
Mane, it's more attitude and less the system. Regardless of what system you play, if you don't have the heart for a scrap then, you will get destroyed. Why do you think we are able to beat the teams in the top 7 when they have much better players than we do in most cases?

It's not all system, bro. It's the heart of a fighter that pulls us over the line every time. Check out the Spurs game. We are the ONLY team that made them look like a League One team cos we smoked them senseless without even breaking a sweat. During the first half of the season, we would fall behind and comeback swinging like we did vs Stoke, losing 1-0 and then eventually winning comfortably 4-1 in December.

Where did that never say die mentality go to? Only Klopp and his players can answer that cos right now, we don't have the desire to fight anymore EXCEPT when we play a big club. Even Klopp recognized this after the game yesterday. That pathetic mentality will do us in this season.

7.) 01 Mar 2017 03:17:31
I don't buy this 'system stuff'. Simply being 'out-systemised' by a relegation battler shouldn't be enough for them to beat you. It should only be enough to make the Liverpool players' life a little harder for them. If Liverpool players had enough fight and resolve, they'd be able to come away with results.

{Ed001's Note - exactly Robin.}

8.) 01 Mar 2017 08:12:38
Precisely robin, and they are being rewarded for not giving a she*p. I know we can't ship the whole lot out like championship manager but some of our players should not be anywhere near a top level team, hence why we are not top level.

But klopp also makes it easy for them to be complacent and not give a rubbish by picking them week in week out. Yeah we don't have the depth but i would prefer losing with some kids in the team knowing that the 11 on the pitch put up a fight instead of hiding because the opposition won't let them stroll to a win. Its not good enough just turning up when we play the top 5 so they can create a showreel for their next move.

9.) 01 Mar 2017 08:54:55
Right so on monday night we played a high line vrs vardy with lucas and matip as cbs.

Is that tactics or attitude the fact he was getting in time and time again or did lucas just not care and let him through? His runs soon stopped when we locked can in next to lucas. hmm?

They had drinkwater, ndidi, morgan and huth locked in a square in the middle cutting out all the space for lallana, cou and firmino to operate.

We had albrighton and fuchs doubling up on mane and taking away all his space to run into.

And the fact that they just kept playing long balls which completly negates the press, in fact im pretty sure its a system that's intended to couter pressing teams.

How are the players meant to perform when the oppositions setup is locking. us out.

Its the same when teams sit in on us. How can you press them when they don't want possesion? How are you meant to pass your way through when your trying to get through two banks of four? that's when a tactical switch needs to made and stick moreno and mane on the wings but as wide as they qill go which will hopefully break the lbs and rbs away from there line and start creating abit more space in the middle. But no when that happens there's no tactical switch the same system and style gets played and we try to pass our way through the middle of a brick wall.

You just don't want to lend any negativitiy on klopps door. he's brilliant for us and the team 70% but he needs to find the other ways to win. Same as the european final last year, bet your last pound mourinho at 1-0 up would of brought on another cm and just shut up shop and countered.

You have said moreno, woodburn and origi made us betyer because they care?

Not because origi and his pace in behind morgan and huth actually posed them problems. Moreno sticking on the byline at lw kept simpson occupied and therefore allowed more space in the middle for coutinho to operate in.

Its funny that we looked better after a tactical switch is all im saying.

You all go on about attitude. Did any of you see wijs celebration for his pass last week? How much lallana and firmino run for us? These lads don't have an attitude problem.

Playing lower end teams needs a switch is system and tactics.

10.) 01 Mar 2017 18:19:43
Super you keep banging on about tactics and dismissing attitude, so what about in game intelligence? Are you saying a professional footballer can't see that the opposition are playing the long ball and the back line should then reset 15 yards deeper to negate that? Or not press frantically if the opposition is sitting back and maybe let them have the ball and play on the counter.

So yes it boils down to the players taking the attitude of taking responsibility for what's happening and making adjustments as necessary during the game. Having leaders with the attitude to make a decision on the pitch and tell the back line to sit a little deeper. Its so easy to blame the manager all the time, look what our opposition did to their last manager for proof of that. Good teams have players that have the attitude that they are responsible for what happens on the pitch and execute depending on the circumstances at the time not the game plan given to them that is clearly not working.

Everything that happens in life is about attitude my friend, you think about it for a few minutes. Or will you take the attitude that im wrong and not bother? Do you see what i did there?

28 Jan 2017 21:54:14
Mane missed the penalty. Senegal out of competition. May be he will play against Chelsea on Tuesday. Hope we will start winning again.

1.) 28 Jan 2017 22:30:27
Unless I'm mistaken wasn't previous advice from the Eds was that he can't play until 5 days after leaving the tournament?

{Ed002's Note - Not from me.}

2.) 28 Jan 2017 23:06:48
Happy to be wrong Ed, how we need him back. I must have dreamt it!

3.) 28 Jan 2017 23:18:53
Don't that's correct mate mahrez played for the foxes on Friday nyt 4 days after his last game

4.) 29 Jan 2017 00:11:07
Player cannot play for his club after exiting an ongoing tournament, FIFA rule says, I think.

{Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

5.) 29 Jan 2017 04:46:04
Entitled to five days rest. I doubt it's mandatory, though. Probably up to the player himself.

{Ed001's Note - nothing mandatory.}

6.) 29 Jan 2017 11:45:36
The 5 days thing is for players banned for refusing to turn up for a tournament - they are banned for the length of the tournament plus five days (that could be the length of their teams involvement plus five days, I don't really remember but it's definitely the five days part.

7.) 29 Jan 2017 11:45:36

8.) 29 Jan 2017 12:41:17
That's it Hj you solved it mate it was to do with National that I heard if the ban had been enforced all the way to the final. Cheers

9.) 29 Jan 2017 12:42:46
Oh, thanks Ed. Someone had mentioned that somewhere.

10.) 29 Jan 2017 15:27:21
Sorry spell check that was Matip not National!

Hello,
I want Lucas to stay. He is helpful squad player. Next year more games and injury concern. Even SG want him to stay. Please FSG give him new contract.
