Is there any news/ updates on the 4th offer Barcelona are planning on making for Coutinho? - Got a feeling it would be hard to say no to 138m : (.

I thought that about the last bid until I saw how it was broken down.

2.) 23 Aug 2017 15:00:55
I honestly think we will turn it down. What use is the money to us right now? Cout's representative back tracking now as he is staying.

3.) 23 Aug 2017 15:32:54
As well as signing a replacement, does anyone else have any ideas of how the club can use the money to re-invest?

I was thinking reducing tickets for fans - even by £10.00 - £5.00 - Doing this would show FSG care about the fans and not just the profit. They could offset some of the money against what they would have achieved at full price.

Agreed Superred. I can only see it happening if there aren't a load of ridiculous add ons and we've agreed a deal for an immediate replacement like Kovacic, so basically 0% chance.

Starting to think that the only possible additional incoming will be Höwedes or a similar CB.

Not sure I follow, Darren BUT if we sell, we will literally have "dead money" (money we can't use cos no one will sell their top players to us with 8 days left in the TW) and anyone who has taken a level 1 investment course (I'm a business major, btw) will tell you that any money that is not being used (spent or invested) is dead money as it is just sitting there.

Hi BingoRed - yes I appreciate that, so surely they can invest it back into the club in some way shape or form? Give a little back to the fans, by reducing ticket prices? the £130M (or whatever it is now) could be used to offset this.

In terms of replacement, let's just hope there is something lined up in the background. However, it is not out of the question to find a fringe player at Real or Munich who we could get within short notice even just on loan (although no ideal)

I personally think, keep him until atleast January and he can reassess where we are and we can assess him! at this point Barcelona will be back im sure! In the meantime we can line up a replacement.

Bingo, they teach you cash is dead money? In the words of Mark Twain, "Don't let an education get in the way of learning. " Cash is certainly a position.

8.) 23 Aug 2017 19:17:21
A2 totally agree. Cash is king in any business I've worked in. Darren whilst a nice sentiment is lowering ticket prices most of the games are sold out anyway? So it's just a loss making exercise with no return ( as I said tickets are sold anyway so it doesn't help change the attendees) there are plenty of other ways to invest it for the longest term- help the academy, a defensive coach lol etc etc.

9.) 23 Aug 2017 19:32:48
Ticket prices won't come down. Nice idea but it's a business. Love the mark twain quote. Liverpool transfer rumours = The most cultured football site. in the world.

Buzzing waiting for kick off, watching at home. Dissapointed that Robertson isn't starting. Mane will score tonight. If we can hold out for the first half hour they are going to leave all sorts of space for mane salah and firmino to exploit. Looking forward to seeing TAA again. Another clean sheet?

Sorry for the long post. To quote Abraham Lincoln "I didn't have time to write a short letter"

Unrelated but Klopp's no plan B transfer philosophy reminds me of another Mark Twain quote. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. "

11.) 24 Aug 2017 07:56:59
Club has debts, like any football club, has longer term plans that need investment, owner investment debt etc I don't think football clubs are ever cash rich enough to have dead money. As for selling players to LFC this late two things come to mind.

1. It is debatable a like for like replacement is needed so may not be a high profile big player.

2. Not all clubs expect to keep their best players and clubs with a good scouting network could find clubs with potential gems who they can't and don't expect to turn down good offers on.

Not saying this makes the deal a done deal or anything or the sort. Just that being able to spend the money is potentially irrelevant. I'd really hope the saying no is based on the idea that saying no shows good players that LFC is worth joining for the long term.

Hi Eds. Can you give us a list of players we're in talks with/ interested in and a percentage on how likely they are to sign? Thanks :)

Beckio

{Ed002's Note - No we are not going to be doing anything like that.}

1.) 13 Jul 2017 17:16:08
To how many decimal places would you like the percentages, Beckio?

:)

2.) 13 Jul 2017 20:26:17
How about on a scale from 1-10 then ed? haha.
