Morning Ed's and fellow Reds. I've used the search function to see peoples and Ed's opinion on Marco Reus. I've thought highly of him for years and my question is simple, IF Utd really are in for him, why couldn't we compete for his signature? is it a case of wages or do we simply not rate him? obv you can't look at every good player but if this guy was up for grabs, I can't see a prem team he wouldn't get into. Thanks guys!

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal showed an interest in Marco Reus before his return to Dortmund last year. Recent tentative approaches made by Chelsea and Manchester City have resulted in a "not for sale" response. Manchester City may push again but Dortmund seem to no longer be looking at Dzeko as a possible replacement for Lewandowski, so the option to offer favourable terms on the transfer or a contribution to his salary may well have gone. Interest from Manchester United remains quite speculative right now but should the player become available they may well look to bid. Dortmund will not want to sell.

Liverpool has their own targets and Reus has not been one - his transfer fee would be very significant, as would his wages.}

Ed's I'd just like to ask a question regarding our transfer policies if possible. Wanyama to Spurs seem to have happened within days. It could just be because we don't look at Spurs rumour sites, but to me, it feels like we take an age to get anything done. Am I just a typical impatient fan? Thanks.

{Ed091's Note - Is the transfer window open? relax. Have a kit kat.

What smacks is that he signed for £12.5m 3 yrs ago. Improves, comes into his peak years, has proven prem experience and goes for £11m. If it were us buying him, £20-£25m easy and we'd pay it.

2.) 23 Jun 2016 22:33:20
I could be wrong about this but I believe Wanyama was coming to the end of his contract so they had to sell him or lose him for nothing next season.

3.) 23 Jun 2016 22:55:56
Yeah I was looking at this yesterday and it is no suprise. Everyone else seems to manage to do better business that us for better players. £11m from them probably would have been £20m from us. Liverpool fc is poorly run from back to front.

4.) 23 Jun 2016 22:30:21
It's definitely is taking an age. Took us over a month to under bid Ben chidwell and get denied.

5.) 24 Jun 2016 01:37:33
I really don't rate Wanyama and I'm not surprised Saints didn't play hardball over his sale.

6.) 24 Jun 2016 03:36:24
We've signed Karius, Matip and Grujic for very little in he grand scheme of things, think that's very good business so far.

7.) 24 Jun 2016 06:49:29
If by everyone else you means Spurs didn't they pretty much blow around 100 million 2-3 years ago? Short memories.

Just been told that Rodgers has bought Gerrards house. Just thought I'd share.

{Ed002's Note - Rodgers is lodging with #WonderDogSparky but is staying out all night tonight.}

Why would Stevie sell his house? Ridiculous nonsense

2.) 06 Jan 2015 07:15:59
Actually he's renting it off him. And Stevies building a new one on some land he's aquired. He lives by me that's how I know.

Moreno bid is £16mil from what I've heard with Suso going to them but only on loan. Good bit of business that if it comes off.

Lets not mix players and club up here. As a club their fantastic, with a now unbelievable global brand that's been built up from very little. Yes money is a factor but they've still managed what many haven't in that area.

Diving/ playacting players however, is a different story. Part of the game now I suppose, but I'll never be able to appreciate it as 'sport' when I watch it.

Not that it means much nowadays, but hasn't Laxalt literally just signed for Milan in the summer?

I was made up when we signed Clyne, but feel he got more protection when he was at Southampton. His weakness for us in my opinion, is not getting back once he's bombed on, but by no means is he a terrible player like some are saying.

I think people should be interested in finding out who the RB targets are before they all celebrate him being sold.

I agree with JordZ.

As a club, Liverpool have had more than enough time to identify Coutinho's replacement, if this is Lemar and we can't do a deal in Jan then fine. You can't force a club to sell after all, but if we then fail to get the said target in summer, i'd be disappointed.

Loosing a player of Coutinho's caliber would detriment any club on this planet, so let's not pretend we "don't need him for top four". I'm not saying without him we can't get it, but with him or his identified replacement, we'd surely have a better chance in all competitions.

But then maybe I'm just gagging for another signing ha.

Cheers Ed, I assume interest has long since died off. Tidy player in my opinion, surprises me he's not moved from there by now.

CheeLFC

{Ed002's Note - 2012 as I said - he was looked at. That is it.}
