Hey eds, i know this is a shot in the dark but, stay with me on this, could this be vvd agent? He knew he wanted to go to liverpool maybe meaning lover fees and bonus, so could this be a way of him generating more money for all parties involved. I know its a far fetched idea but we all know how agent are. Ps i hear rumours of de vrij any truth. Keep up the great work guys.

Daffyd84

{Ed001's Note - no it was not the agent messing about with it.}

Sky Italia is reporting we've bid €20 million for De Vrij which Lazio has turned down. May or may not be true, but now that the entire world knows the kind of money we were looking to spend on a centre-back, any club we do business with can add a huge premium on what they might usually ask for.

What a mess.

2.) 07 Jun 2017 20:23:41
TQ, Lazio actually want 30m pounds (40m euros) for him as he has one year left on his deal and is reluctant to sign a new one. This is different from the VVD issue as he had 5 years left on his deal hence, the heavy fee.

3.) 07 Jun 2017 20:26:15
Least we made a bid this time.

So Luan to liverpool i think would be a great shout not just because he looks a good fit for the system and style of the team but with him, coutino and firmino as an attacking 3 we have LFC! What could be better.

1.) 27 Apr 2017 18:25:14
Are we interested in Luan eds?

Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - there are about 35 footballers who are named Luan. I really wish people would help us out a bit as it would help when I ask about them to make sure I am asking about the right one!}

2.) 27 Apr 2017 18:36:25
Sorry mate, I mean Luan from Gremio?

The lad who played in the Olympics!

3.) 27 Apr 2017 19:41:38
Question was asked last summer:

{Ed002's Note - Last summer Gremio's Luan has been subject to enquiries from Leicester, Rennes and Milan but no offers have been made by any of these sides. Barcelona were keen to take him as a fourth choice striker but were put off by a very significant asking price and a request for him to stay at Gremio through to January - hence their moving for Valencia's Alcacer (who ironically will likely be replaced by a player from Barcelona) . Others who watched the player in the Olympics including Manchester United, Arsenal, Benfica, Liverpool and Juventus do not see value in the asking price but will likely keep an eye on his progress. An offer from China at the end of 2015 failed due to significant wage demands from the player's representative. }

Don't know if anythings changed.

{Ed001's Note - Luan Viera then, cheers. We have continued to track him, I know that much off the top of my head.}

4.) 28 Apr 2017 12:13:17
Surely we're interested in all 35 Luans? 😎.

5.) 28 Apr 2017 14:45:13
Is it Luan behold.

6.) 30 Apr 2017 08:14:32
Or Luan Order?

Question on your thoughts here ed's. a lot of posted want a cb or two and a striker in the upcoming markets. My question is do we need said striker? People calling for a 20 goal a season striker, but surely we have a twenty goal, if not two, a season winger. I wonder if buying that kind off striker would hamper the attacking line, with Bobby doing what he does best and chase and hound allowing salah and mane the opportunity. Personally I wouldn't want one of those strikers here. Thoughts of not just the ed's, but the rest of you guys appreciated.

Daffyd84

{Ed001's Note - I think they are playing as strikers, after all didn't Henry constantly pull out wide to run in to the gap behind constantly? Unless you have a target man, for the long ball, a man up top just stifles movement out wide, which is why they have vanished from the top sides. The only issue is Firmino should add a few more goals, but an out and out striker would not help with that.}

1.) 19 Nov 2017 10:26:46
I think a top striker (goalscorer) would further improve us as a threat. I don't mean any striker they would have to be the right one to fit our style of play. Chelsea, City, Utd and Spurs all play with a natural goal scorer and it hasn't seemed to effected their trophy cabinets (with exception of Spurs 😂) and top 4 challenges. Last time we had a top class goal scorer playing at striker we almost won the league and that hasn't happened very much in the last 27 years. And Sturridge and Sterling still banged in goals to the left and right of him. Yes Firminho is a very very good player but we talk like he is the only player in the world that closes down or makes runs and then at the same time we pine for Sturridge and Solanke to get more minutes when surely that just contradicts that argument. For me our main priority is a top class keeper and centre half but once Coutinho leaves Firminho could easily play just off a top class striker. Just my opinion though. YNWA.

2.) 19 Nov 2017 11:12:18
I think posters get hung up a bit on this top striker (goal scorer) . Its more important that we score goals and not actually who scores the goals. We scored plenty last season and we are doing well this season, its not an issue really. How many goals did we score when we had Suarez? Was it much more? I don't know! We just need to work on our away form defensively and we will be ok, in my opinion.

3.) 19 Nov 2017 12:17:35
Bobby was instrumental in all Liverpool goals yesterday. He scored none of them, but if he was further up the pitch in a more 'standard' no 9's position, none of those goals might have not been scored.

Its only a problem if we're not scoring, and we don't really have too big a problem right now.

4.) 19 Nov 2017 13:00:06
Agree it is only a problem when we are not scoring. There have been plenty of games over the last few years where we have banged them in for fun. But on the other hand there has also been games where we cannot break the bus down and a top class striker is a match winner. Needs that 1 chance to win us the game i. e. Utd, Newcastle and Burnely this season. Luis was our last one and he was a match winner. Heck we threw the league title away with 3 games to go. Since then we have scored plenty yes but our closest title challenge has been finishing 4th.

5.) 20 Nov 2017 09:28:14
Jayden, I don't understand this obssesion with getting a natural CF. It has been said repeatedly on here that it will stifle the like of Mane, Salah and Ox's ability to score as that striker will be taking up the central spaces that these players are attacking. You say we need one to go against low block teams. That is wrong. We have scored more goals and won more points vs low block teams this season already than we did last season. We just dropped 13 goals in the last 4 games vs parked buses along with beating LC and CP so the low blocks are getting dealt with decisively.

Burnley and Newcastle were anomalies cos we indeed created more chances to win those games BUT poor finishing killed us in those games along with useless defensive errors that caused us to be chasing games. Same with Sevilla and Spartak. You also forget that we played a natural finisher in the games vs Burnley, Spartak, Newcastle and Burnley and his name is Studge and he like the Salahs and Firminos, fluffed their lines. Wow, A natural striker fluffs his lines at times. Who knew?

Look at Spurs and Kane. When Kane does not score or has a poor game, Spurs won't score as we saw vs Arsenal who were there for the taking. The only place I agree with you is about Suarez. He was a beast of a player and still is. He is also a bad example cos he like Lewandowski, would be perfect for our system as Suarez does everything Firmino can do in addition to scoring for fun. If we can't get that type of forward, we go with what we have cos like it or not, it works.

6.) 20 Nov 2017 13:05:54
I think a lot of the obsession with a striker comes from how many times Firmino's instinct seems to fail him in good scoring positions, because he ends up in them by virtue of where on the pitch he occupies. But the answer would probably be to work on Firmino's finishing and get him practicing on aiming for the top corner a little more, rather than replacing what he does with someone that will blunt Mane and Salah.

I think everyone is getting overly concerned with phil leaving. What people forget is we suffered last year with bad results because of 2 players imo, mane being out and the skipper missing. With salah being brought in I think we are now covered for one of these, but for me hendo I a a massive miss when he is out. Imo he doesn't get the credit he deserves he is the one who makes the team tick its his through ball or his clever pass that sets up the attack or starts the forward movement. Yes coutinho will be a big miss he would for any club but we are a team built around togetherness and playing for each other, not on individual talent. The cream raises to the top. The question is who will be the cream this year? Thoughts fellow reds.

1.) 09 Aug 2017 17:38:35
Hendo played the season before and there were still bad results. Hendo also played the 2nd game against Burnley. He also missed all the games that we were extremely good in from Sep-Dec. Not saying he's not a good player but we definitely miss Mane and Count more than Hendo.

Eds, with the salah deal seemingly not going through because of the price, would that see our attention to to some one like balde of lazio? Is this just other clubs trying to hold out for more money because they know we need to be seen as doing things correctly. Cheers for all the work you do.

Daffyd84

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand the question. It is not just about money.}

In my opinion if, alisson comes in then migs definitely goes, karius on loan to rebuild his belief and mental state, maybe back to germany for a year or two to sort his head out. leaving ward the cup games and maybe one or two league games. I think everyone would be happy (wellish anyway)

How do people not like matip? He is by far our best defender he is composed on the ball and barely has to lunge for a challenge. Him and vvd would be great so long as they don't both surge forward at the same time.

Daffyd84

{Ed025's Note - decent but a bit slow..

What you have to remeber Noah is if you are buying a "spanish speaking player" like brazilian argentiniun etc they will want to play for Barcelona or real, just like germans want to play for bayern. Its not rocket science. Eventually he will leave just like suarez. One of the many reasons british players are so expensive as they want to play for the best british teams.
