Hi Ed 02, hope you're well. Looking at the problems this year for Liverpool and the clear need for reinforcements this summer, do you see maybe one or two surprise departures? Think we are all in agreement about a few that are out the door, but would you foresee any others that are not expected, especially those that may raise a few quid for replacements? Im thinking that a rebuild is required around the younger players, and with that players like Mo and VVD could be considered. Also, the riddle that is Trent, who is no doubt a great footballer but can struggle defensively. Would Klopp be that radical?
One more if you've got time, are any clubs sniffing around Brennan Johnson? Effort and talent, and seems a nice guy too. Would have thought someone will take a punt.

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - I have outined potential departures. Liverpool has shown no intent to sell Alexander, Salah or van Dijk as far as I understand. There are a couple of sides keen on Brennan Johnson.}

1.) 02 Apr 2023 12:06:49
There's no 'riddle' to Trent. When the team is playing well, he doesn't get exposed defensively.

Solution: Fix the team and Trent fixes himself.

2.) 02 Apr 2023 11:56:48
Where would Trent fit in well? Real? Barca? Wondering how well he would travel as he doesn't seem to be particularly strong mentally.
Also, he is needed if Bellingham is joining, since they seem to be good pals.
I am not sure how Trent can get back to where he was unless we go back to those tactics, which seem too wearing on the body and mind.

3.) 02 Apr 2023 12:42:49
You’re right Something Red. Fix the tactics and the personnel in it and Trent can then do what he’s world class at.

{Ed025's Note - not that "world class" tag again FPF, if trent was WC he would not be 4th choice right back for england mate, the way he is performing this season he may not even be conference class mate..

4.) 02 Apr 2023 13:25:48
To be fair, over the decades numerous England managers have had no clue how to include the more technical gifted players. John Barnes, Le Tissier, Hoddle, Gerrard etc etc. They have never got the best of their better players, ones that can make the difference. So on that account even when Trent was at the top of his game he still wasn’t first pick.

5.) 02 Apr 2023 13:13:06
First point is why would Liverpool even consider selling Salah are people still that daft to look past the guys return?

Secondly ed25 if you want to judge players based on selection for England then you need a good wobble of the head buddy lol Gareth Southgate is one absolute tube mate.

{Ed025's Note - I’m not a Southgate fan GR. but can you make a case for Trent being in the top 4 right backs in the country mate?..

6.) 02 Apr 2023 13:21:05
Ed025 - you lost the argument when you mentioned England selection.

I have been posting about this since the 2020/ 21 season - what they are trying to do with Trent tucking into midfield is inviting the opposition to attack down our right. Trent's form at this moment in time should be shared equally by the players in front of him and the coaching staff's instructions.

By the way, Robbo was much much worse than Trent yesterday but nobody will say anything.

{Ed025's Note - at least we can see robbo is trying FPF..

7.) 02 Apr 2023 14:45:10
Robbo, as been pish all season as well, but hey he runs about so that's ok.

8.) 02 Apr 2023 15:01:48
Trent is just 24 he will be back the whole narrative is absolutely absurd. …. just look at rashford/ Shaw… form is temporary class is permanent and all that!

9.) 02 Apr 2023 14:08:57
To be fair Ed25, he said let Trent get back to what he is world class at, not that Trent is a world class defender. Even as a blue you can’t deny that going forward, in his pomp is world class.

{Ed025's Note - how can he be a world class defender if he can’t defend EPS? That’s like a world class goalkeeper who can’t make a save mate..

10.) 02 Apr 2023 14:09:33
Ed025 I think Trent has been pretty awful this season but rating him on his class level because his 4th choice for England when that clown picks the team is not really a good judgement. I mean he started Phillips in the last International break and he has only started about 2 games for city all season.

{Ed025's Note - as I said grino Southgate is a clown. But he’s right when he says there are 3 better right backs mate… I’m thinking 6..

11.) 02 Apr 2023 14:10:37
Come on mate. jordan pickford is englands top goalkeeper and Maguire seems to b their best cb. there's nothing but thrash being manager and somehow getting to later stages of tournaments through luck there.

{Ed025's Note - actually liverbird Jordan is the best English keeper mate. Well in mine and Gareth’s opinion anyway..

12.) 02 Apr 2023 15:21:14
No you are right Trent has been awful all season pretty much. I just wonder if the coaches are scratching their heads in what to do with him because of his ability going forward it's just strange maybe it is burnout.

13.) 02 Apr 2023 15:59:18
I wouldn’t pick Trent to pick my nose at the minute. That fake “I’m trying and nobody else is” press he did on Ederson was embarrassing and of course 5 minutes later he’s walking and watching while grealish as putting the ball in the net. We were pretty good first half I wouldn’t complain but you could see the lads gave up the second City took the lead after the calamitous defending for the 2nd goal and it was all about getting rested for the next one.

14.) 02 Apr 2023 19:01:35
Have a go at Trent again. Robbo runs around so that’s ok, Vvd throws his arms around so that’s ok, so Trent’s not trying? Crap. Southgate? Maguire is a first pick? Laughing. Phillips whose hardly played, laughing, and what that idiot does regarding Trent is being quoted? Wow. When Trent was playing well he wasn’t picked. And who are 5/ 6 better players? Walker? Cos he can run? I’ve argued Trent should’ve played in midfield, but picking on one player is pathetic.

{Ed025's Note - it was about whether or not he was world class or not Stevie. And he’s not. He has the skill no doubt about it but he has an attitude problem and a bloody whole portion of chips on his young shoulders mate. And that’s the reason he is not in (or likely to be in) the England squad.

15.) 02 Apr 2023 20:10:48
It wasn’t just about if he’s world class or not. It was said he’s conference league class, he doesn’t try etc. Southgate doesn’t know his arse from his elbow but he’s right not picking Trent, just like he’s right picking short arms and maguire. Pickford best English keeper? Not on stats. Pope, Ramsdale, Henderson then Pickford. I wonder how many other players have chips on their shoulders? As has been said before, the amount of help Trent gets, in comparison to Robbo, well there isn’t any. A genuine very good rb would struggle with salah and Elliot infront of them. Klopp himself has said he asks Trent to do what he does and others have to cover. I’d have Trent further forward and try Gomez at rb and then sign one in the summer, but hey, what do I know. I’ll just ask Gareth what he thinks.

16.) 03 Apr 2023 05:25:06
Robby has been getttin beat all season but he gets away with it cos he looks like he’s trying.

17.) 03 Apr 2023 05:47:05
Trent really needs to buck up. His performances of late were horrible and opposition players just drift past him like he's not there. The same old tactics is still being used and we're being exposed every time. Sometimes you can see that he's just standing around, and not doing a lot of defending. I do see the need that we get a real right back to challenge his position or move him to play in midfield. We need midfielders and I think its cheaper to get a right back. So, its a win win there.

18.) 03 Apr 2023 07:01:03
We have a real right back. Ramsay. Good defender, strong tackler, confident on the ball. I wouldn't buy another to put this kid back. He should play as soon as his recovery and fitness allow.

19.) 03 Apr 2023 13:34:09
For a few seasons he was genuinely class and the best English rb - still couldn't buy a game for England though

He has been truly awful this season though. Yes the tactics have been awful and nobody covers him, he is constantly left exposed, yes

However, his crossing has been awful too, only 3 assists I think this season which is nowhere near his standards in that regard

Also, what is with the jogging or strolling back? Was showing Grealish onto his right foot on Saturday, not know he's right footed?

It's that part of his game that infuriates me this season. Look the Trent of a few seasons ago got beat, got caught out, made mistakes etc, but he always bust a gut to try and recover - that was a key feature of his play, what happened to that guy?

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know bill, its infuriating because we all know how good he can be, he seems disinterested to me mate and maybe he thinks he should be in midfield, i dont know?, but there is certainly a better player in there than what hes serving up at the moment thats for sure..

20.) 03 Apr 2023 21:38:27
My posts seem to not be being posted because I am saying some negative things about the team. Nothing rude, inflammatory or against any posters on here. But I guess this is the modern world and you can’t say what you think!

{Ed002's Note - This is the only post I have seen from you today Colin.}

21.) 03 Apr 2023 22:21:24
Ed025 very rare for me to agree with you but what you have said about trent is 100% right.

22.) 03 Apr 2023 23:22:42
I think it is about money with trent, fabs, hendo.

24 Jul 2021 17:42:16
Ed02, hope you're enjoying the weekend. In regard to potential transfers in, would the performance of certain players (Naby for instance) change the transfer plan at this late stage? Is it still a period for considering options, or do you think that any player targets are set regardless of individuals having a strong pre season? Would the purchase plan (if any) continue regardless?
Thanks.

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - I think the club has fixed ideas about what they want to do if they have the funds. I very much doubt a buyer can be found for Keita even if the club were to look to sell - there are certainly countries where he would not be able to get a WP as well. It is the chance for youngsters to impress.}

1.) 24 Jul 2021 19:26:24
Thanks Ed 02. It’ll be an interesting few weeks. We certainly have potential amongst the youngsters. Cheers for the response.

2.) 24 Jul 2021 22:31:24
We are at least one midfielder short.

3.) 25 Jul 2021 00:45:59
That’s handy, Mark, as Naby is a short midfielder!

😂.

{Ed0666's Note - touche zed

4.) 25 Jul 2021 10:43:10
He’s definitely short Zed, but I’ve yet to see any evidence that he’s either a midfielder or even in fact a professional footballer.

5.) 25 Jul 2021 11:34:33
I’m slowly starting to get the impression that VVVV doesn’t rate Naby?

6.) 25 Jul 2021 12:39:17
Not many of us do shaq attack, he’s been unreliable for the most part, on and off (constant injuries) the pitch.

7.) 25 Jul 2021 15:20:18
That’s true Kman, but not everyone feels the need to constantly belittle him daily like VVVV does.

8.) 25 Jul 2021 19:01:16
True story thunderbird, I’d say he’s never seen him play either.

9.) 25 Jul 2021 19:24:34
I’ve seen him play in the flesh twice and he was utterly hopeless. Lost possession cheaply, looked clueless when he had the ball, was weak in challenges and almost looked like he was trying not to get his boots dirty. And when I’ve seen him play on television it’s not been much different, he has barely had one good-ish game in his three years, which is not acceptable, there’s not a 50m player there, there’s not even a fifty quid one. In three years he’s shown nothing. he has barely even bothered to learn the language. It is time for him to find a new employer, cut losses and move on.

10.) 25 Jul 2021 19:24:34

{Ed0666's Note - as eds 002 keeps saying it will be difficult to find a new pub for him due to the nature of his work permit

11.) 25 Jul 2021 20:46:39
No one is going to buy Keita so let’s keep criticizing him, that’ll make him play better.

12.) 26 Jul 2021 04:43:16
Any time I’ve seen him play had Klopp screaming at him from the sidelines in frustration. The Real Madrid game last season was a nightmare for him.
If he sticks around he’ll need to improve a lot.

Morning Eds,

The last couple of windows looked, on the face of it, to be a little frustrating for BR and the fans. Maybe a case of BR identifying his man, and then the club not committing to a deal due to financial constraints or other issues. With this in mind, do we know whether BR asked for more control over signing/ selling before agreeing to his new contract?

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - BR got the players he asked for in most cases - Kolo Touré, Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho, Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet and the loans of Victor Moses and Aly Cissokho. He has less control now given his poor track record.}

Ed002 if you're available. Much has been discussed about the lack of funds for transfers at Liverpool. We know that Klopp has a couple on his wish list and that there may be a transfer in, depending on sales this week. Can I ask, is it all about the transfer fee and upfront cash, or is the longer term 'saving' going to influence whether we can bring someone in? What I mean is, if a player is sold for a small fee, but the departure removes a 50 grand plus a week wage bill, will that be a consideration? Especially if it is a cumulative effect where a few players are sold? Not a clue with the business side of the house, so would be interested to know. Appreciate that the Konate fee and his wages probably surpass sales and wages recouped so far. Personally happy with the squad and that it would likely give Jones, Elliott and a couple more youngsters valuable game time and experience.
Thanks for all the info. You and all the Ed's are very much appreciated. even Ed25!

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - The attraction of Sanches was that his club were willing to accept terms for the payments - at a higher price of course - the same with Saul. Wages should balance each other out and that is why Saul is concerning clubs - huge wage demands. Last season Wolves allowed terms on Jota who was third choice for Liverpool but has worked out very well.}

1.) 23 Aug 2021 19:41:37
Who was he 3rd choice behind, Werner is one then i assume Sarr?

{Ed002's Note - And Traore.}

2.) 23 Aug 2021 19:47:30
Now there are 'rumours' on Saul going to Chelsea on loan! There will be absolute meltdown if that happens! :)

3.) 23 Aug 2021 19:58:38
Thanks Ed02. With regard to Saul, is it a J Barnett influenced issue with the wages, or is the player himself just after a massive pay packet? Is it an issue in the game at top level where a player isn’t necessarily allowed to sign for a team he wants to play for? Not saying Saul wants us, but in general?

{Ed002's Note - That I really don't know. He will not want to leave for less money otherwise he would go to his preferred destination.}

4.) 23 Aug 2021 20:13:35
Ok, thanks Ed002. Appreciate it .

5.) 23 Aug 2021 20:10:42
ED002 - you big tease, you can’t leave us hanging like that…. Where is Sauls preferred destination? Barcelona I presume?

Regards,

KR65.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Barcelona. But they need wages off the book first.}

6.) 23 Aug 2021 20:51:08
Could you say who his preferred choice is please ed002.

{Ed002's Note - It is Barcelona but they cannot do anything until more wages are freed up.}

7.) 24 Aug 2021 04:38:58
Sounds like Saul is a greedy boy! Lol. Wages are crazy for these guys now. But if you can get it why not I suppose.

8.) 24 Aug 2021 05:37:31
Do you think he deserve that kind of money ed? he is a very good player but that kind of money is usually paid for top2 player and for attackers. is there any midfield players that is being paid in the same wage range as saul?

{Ed002's Note - Kevin De Bruyne.}

25 May 2021 17:26:19
Hi Eds. (Ed001 hope you're feeling better mate) . Two things. First one, Harvey Elliott. He looks like a real exciting prospect. Two good feet, strength and skill and a bit of pace about him. What do you reckon we'll do with him next season? Another season loan or introduce him into the squad? A loan obviously has advantages, but he may be good enough now do you reckon?
The other one is about the England squad selections. Was it just me swearing at the tele when all the pundits where suggesting Trent is behind Walker, Trippier and James?! Is it just me with red tinted specs? Would also be interested to hear Ed25s point of view on this one if available. Always good to hear a non red footy fans opinion.
Thanks for all the work Ed's. Boss site.

Davedee

{Ed025's Note - trent is head and shoulders above the other 3 dave, for me he starts every england game mate, on harvey my view is never trust a player with a pony tail they are usually big girls blouses.. :)

1.) 25 May 2021 18:07:27
Glad it wasnt just me who noticed the b*llrubbish being talked on sky by Danny Mills. Walker, Trippier, and James all better right backs than Trent, what a load of SH*TE. Had to turn it off in the end!

{Ed025's Note - some of these so called pundits dont know their arsenal from their elbow MH..

2.) 25 May 2021 18:08:26
Thanks Ed25. Couldn’t believe it when Mills and Upson were saying Trent is probably fourth choice! Can’t comment on Harvey’s hair. it would just be jealousy as I’ve been sporting the Tommy Gravesen look for the last 25 years haha.

{Ed025's Note - love it dave...or should i say spam head.. :)

3.) 25 May 2021 18:25:55
Just to deviate Davedee. So gpod to see ed25 and his attempts at humour.

Always make me chuckle. A bit like a naughty obsession you keep going back for more.

{Ed025's Note - being an evertonian humour is all i have to offer wiltshire mate.. :)

4.) 25 May 2021 18:26:24
Don't get me started on pundits Ed025 mate. Footballers as a rule are normally clueless anyway but then to give them a platform they just lose the run of themselves. They make a commitment knowing that it will put the spotlight on them. As for Harvey's barnet Ed025 a certain Everton midfielder by the name of Davis has a really dodgy one mate👩‍🦱.

{Ed025's Note - i would make him cut it off if i was the manager barry, when he heads the ball he looks like a ball pane hammer mate..

5.) 25 May 2021 18:54:10
I hate Danny Mills. complete idiot who was an awful footballer.

6.) 25 May 2021 19:25:49
Danny Mills? I would have changed the channel had he been the first person I saw. Dreadful player and even a worse pundit. As for Trent, I blame Southgate for this shambles cos he is the one who hung Trent out to dry and launched this targeted witch hunt against him and the media haven’t let it go since. Just my opinion.

7.) 25 May 2021 19:53:16
Welcome back 0025 :)
How you doing?

{Ed025's Note - not too bad thanks jonesy mate..

8.) 25 May 2021 19:57:22
Mills is absolutely hated in Norwich where he grew up.

{Ed025's Note - a line in the song " jerusalem" talks of dark satanic mills ...maybe they were referring to him mate.. :)

9.) 25 May 2021 20:25:10
Reece james and tripper. Alright mate haha.

This is the problem with england. The manager will stick with rubbish because they "play" for him. Tripper will be picked until he retires. Treats got no chance.

10.) 25 May 2021 23:09:07
If Trent doesn't play, hopefully he doesn’t get injured. And he’s a bit fresher for the new season.

11.) 26 May 2021 01:31:41
Arsenal from their elbow. classic. Haha.

12.) 26 May 2021 02:14:39
Hey ed025! Haven't seen you for sometime. how are you.

{Ed025's Note - not too bad livebird mate...cheers..

15 Aug 2020 13:13:19
Ed002, with Barcelona promising drastic action after last night, do you see them in a financial position to buy big at the minute? Would they need to sell first? Just wondering whether a chain of events with regards to transfers may kick off with a Barcelona purchase. With that in mind, if they are able to splash out, are any Liverpool players on their radar? Appreciate all the work. Have a great weekend.

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - They want to make two significant purchases and need to sell or trade players. They have no interest in Liverpool players.}

1.) 15 Aug 2020 14:36:46
Thanks Ed002.

2.) 15 Aug 2020 15:20:54
Which Liverpool player would leave just now to go to Barcelona?
They'd only be the new whipping boy if it all went pearshaped, a la Coutinho.

3.) 15 Aug 2020 15:28:30
If this was 3/ 4 years ago they'd be all over mane.

4.) 15 Aug 2020 15:42:45
I’m not sure they would Robbie.
Left forward was Messi’s old position and their front three was him, Naymar and Suarez. Awesome.
Everything is cyclical in sport, even great teams like that.
And that’s refreshing actually.

5.) 15 Aug 2020 17:32:27
Good point juicer. I meant more in terms of where WE were 3 4 years ago though (well going back 15/ 20 years) with all our best players getting pinched. And just to argue with you: mane was played on the right back then. But no, they wouldn't of needed him then.

I wouldn't take 3 neymar for mane. I know that sounds a bit silly maybe. I don't like players who want to pick the team and take control. But I was bigging up messi yesterday (someone has to do it) and he's like that with his ego. But, he can back it up. He won't do a silky bit of skill when he can simply side step and player. And yeah, neymar has unbelievable technique but he's not on the same planet as messi. Although in his mind he probably thinks he's better.

I wouldn't swap mane for neymar and Messi. Not in a million years.

6.) 16 Aug 2020 02:16:16
coutinho
dembele
greizmann

all examples of why it doesn't always work out buying "big names". "world class players". making a "statement of intent". just sign the right player.

26 Jul 2020 13:39:55
Opinion of the Eds and reds please? Lots of talk about lack of funds this transfer window, but 18 points clear with the likes of Alisson, Virg, TAA, Robbo, Hendo, Fabinho, the front 3 and a couple of young ones coming through nicely makes me feel that being skint might not be too drastic at the minute. Looking to next year though, my question is about Naby. Think all fans probably have a player that we 'champion' and want desperately to succeed. That's Naby for me! I personally think Naby could be a sensation next year and his recent performances give you the impression he's well capable. I think he could be ahead of Gini next season and be a guaranteed starter. Is it just me? Bear in mind the last time I spouted about a player who was on the periphery, it was Jonjo Shelvey!
Enjoy the last game reds!

Davedee

1.) 26 Jul 2020 14:15:17
yes Dave, Naby has really come on in his recent games, if he can stay fit, he can be a big player next season, he def looks stronger and more complete .

2.) 26 Jul 2020 14:32:44
Consistency is the key for him and keeping fit. He won't be a 9 out of 10 every game but its important he doesn't dissappear during games. I so want him to be successful.

3.) 26 Jul 2020 14:41:24
Needs to stay fit and learn how to defend in Klopps system before being taken seriously as a consistent starter. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Thiago come in and take his place in the squad.

4.) 26 Jul 2020 14:45:21
Excellent player who should be playing every game fork next season. Slight adjustment in the system and you have as good as KDB.

5.) 26 Jul 2020 15:22:14
Keita as good as KDB? In which parallel universe do you mean, Harry?

6.) 26 Jul 2020 15:22:28
Whoa easy Hogan 😂 What makes you say that? Seen flashes of brilliance but that's a hell of a claim to make 🤣.

7.) 26 Jul 2020 17:25:57
I know some people have lost patience with keita, and i can't blame them. But I'm not one of them just yet. But that's him all over, plays really well one game, gets your hopes up, then goes missing the next game. Or gets injured.

10 Apr 2019 18:58:26
Ed 01. Hope you're well mate. Wanted to ask about Naby. I know it's only a couple of games, but do you think he's turned a corner all of a sudden? Noticed a couple of high fives during the game between him and Milner last night and there is definitely a bit more confidence in his play. He seems to have a sense of belonging now. I've read on here recently that he wasn't quite settling as well as anticipated, so have been chuffed with the recent bit of form and the flickers of team bonding both from and towards him. Do the concerns of him both settling and integrating still remain amongst those in the know, or is there a feeling that he's becoming the Liverpool player we all hoped for? Personally I think he could be huge for us next year, as he brings a different dynamic to our midfield. What do you reckon?

Davedee

{Ed001's Note - until he learns to speak English fluently there will always be a bit of an issue. Difficult to join in with banter etc if you have no idea what is being said.}

1.) 10 Apr 2019 19:47:02
Thanks Ed 01. Let’s hope he throws himself into it over the coming months.

{Ed001's Note - I hope so, it does make a huge difference.}

2.) 10 Apr 2019 19:57:21
Watch him go next season, I see him being our best midfielder, we're seeing a glimpse of it right now, it's a matter of time before we see him at his best, he took a while to settle but he's getting there, next season he'll be on fire.

I agree salah mate. We have seen flashes of what he can do. I hadn't thought about the language barrier and it makes total sense. He is going to rock the premier league.

I noticed him and milly's hand slaps yesterday. It was good to see. He has now scored some big goals and is getting the respect. He, like aoc, can score from midfield and drive forward and it is coming at just the right time.

4.) 10 Apr 2019 22:28:48
Yeah AOC is another one, can you imagine AOC, Hendo, Keita, Fabinho and Wijnaldum on top form? that's an exciting thought and a difficult choice for the manager to pick who starts.

5.) 10 Apr 2019 23:18:14
Is he not picking it up ed, or not trying?

{Ed001's Note - well he never bothered to learn before joining, even though he knew he was joining a year ago. To be honest it is odd that any player who wants to play in European competition is not able to speak English as it has become the standard language.}

6.) 11 Apr 2019 00:36:02
I don't understand how you can assume to succeed if you don't make the necessary effort to assimilate and integrate, in a team sport. More so, if you are in a foreign country and don't speak the language. Look at the Bale example. He has never consistently lived up to the hype at Real Madrid, and his inability to speak Spanish is always cited as one of the reasons. If Keita doesn't wise up, I wouldn't be surprised if he fails to meet expectations; the team's, the fans' and even his own.

7.) 11 Apr 2019 07:48:28
Ed001 Just out of curiosity is it only Naby who cannot speak English in the team or is it any other players as well? Does Klopp have any rules in place that no other language bar English can be spoken in the dressing room?

{Ed001's Note - as far as I know he is the only one. It is a standard expectation. }

8.) 11 Apr 2019 08:30:28
Ed1, am I right in remembering he was taking English lessons before he officially came to the club? maybe I'm thinking of somebody else but I'm sure it was Keita, I can only assume that if it was him, he gave up and didn't put much effort into it.

{Ed001's Note - I am pretty sure he did say that he was having lessons when he first agreed the deal. Might not be a lack of effort to be fair, some people just struggle with languages.}

9.) 11 Apr 2019 09:37:08
Yes that's very true actually mate, it's not an easy language to learn. Christ, I'm English and don't know the half of it!

{Ed001's Note - nobody ever understands what I say!}

10.) 11 Apr 2019 10:04:25
Lets be honest. Footballers aren't the smartest bunch in general. They don't do much school and if you grow up in certain parts of africa then education isn't up to the standards of Europe. Its getting there.

Yes, he knew he was signing a year in advance. He is a young man, i don't totally blame him. He has mane to help translate too.

11.) 11 Apr 2019 15:42:03
I heard bobby do an interview on football focus and he spoke in Spanish. With an interpretater.

12.) 13 Apr 2019 03:55:59
To be fair, even if he got a German to teach him English while he was at Leipzig, the Scouse accent is quite hard to understand. What's the prevailing accent at Melwood, do you think?

13.) 13 Apr 2019 19:09:41
Allison and fabinho are still not comfortable speaking English either. Keita should have spent his year learning though knowing he was moving to england.

I get what you mean Ed 0666. Jones has never let us down when called upon and is still developing. He’s a great young player and a valuable member of the squad. I would be one of those feeling a little disgruntled if he went. I see him in a different bracket to players like Philiips, Origi and Minamino, as he is still a raw talent in need of experience. The others mentioned are great squad players, but may have fully developed to their playing potential already. I would love Bissouma or Saul don’t get me wrong, but in an ideal world I’d be keeping our young talent too. I hope he stays.

Davedee

{Ed0666's Note - I’m my opinion we’re a couple of players short and if Jones has to take one for the team (pun intended) then so he it. Maybe Klopp is right we don’t need players but sometimes even the great man is wrong. Bissouma and a forward please by Tuesday afternoon please Micheal Edwards Thankyou 🙏🏼

Agreed hailstones. If there is any truth in it, it must be in order to fund a signing. Wouldn’t make any sense otherwise.

Davedee

{Ed0666's Note - Hypothetically if jones was sacrificed for Bissouma or a forward who would complain? Yes there would be murmurs of discontent but at this level soccer is about winning not participating. It would be harsh if it happens but not unforgivable. I must state that Jones is a crackerjack player and he will go on and represent England at senior level but for me if Scrooge in Boston ain’t gonna fund players until one or two leave then so be it let Jones, Philips, Origi exit left.

ED025. That’s fair enough mate. I think he’s a very good player who needs game time to see whether he can step up to the highest level. He’s certainly got the potential. Agree with your point about first team opportunities; just had a nibble at the initial response to hailstones about Jones’ value. I shouldn’t be so sensitive.

Davedee

{Ed025's Note - that was tongue in cheek dave, he will certainly make a good living out of the game thats for sure mate, i just dont know if that will be at the highest level..

ED 25, behave yourself lad, Jones is an upgrade on anything you have at Goodison. Thought you knew footy.

Davedee

{Ed025's Note - still very raw for me dave, i dont think he gets a start in your side unless its in the cup mate, he could prove me wrong of course and im a great believer in bringing youth through and wanting them to do well, i just dont know if curtis cuts the mustard at this time thats all..

Davedee

{Ed002's Note - That I really don't know. He will not want to leave for less money otherwise he would go to his preferred destination.}

Thanks Ed25. Couldn’t believe it when Mills and Upson were saying Trent is probably fourth choice! Can’t comment on Harvey’s hair. it would just be jealousy as I’ve been sporting the Tommy Gravesen look for the last 25 years haha.

Davedee

{Ed025's Note - love it dave...or should i say spam head.. :)
