Since transfer season is back and everyone seems to be looking at who we would love to take back into the team, I figured I'd kick off some listomania!
Who of our ex-players (still playing) would you want back that you think would measurably improve the current team with our current style of play? Top 3 only.

I'll kick it off (in order of impact) .

1. Sterling
2. Ings
3. Coutinho

All in fun.
Cheers.

Doha Red

1.) 29 Jul 2020 12:43:27
Improve the starting XI?
- Luis Alberto

Improve the squad?
- Sterling
- Ings
- Suarez.

2.) 29 Jul 2020 12:43:44
1 out of 3 not too bad wouldn't touch the others even for free.

3.) 29 Jul 2020 13:19:42
Sterling, coady and suso. All squad players but would add something.

4.) 29 Jul 2020 14:07:16
I would not have Suarez back at all not even if I was a dentist.

5.) 29 Jul 2020 13:59:18
Sterling
Ings
Reina.

6.) 29 Jul 2020 19:00:18
Hunter, I only saw "want" after i posted 🤣 I don't want Suarez, Coutinho or Sterling anywhere near the club. They are good enough for our squad but i think they'd all be disruptive.

Luis Alberto is the only ex player who i see and genuinely think "we let him get away". One of the most creative midfielders in Europe and probably the best in Italy. He'd instantly improve our team.

I would take the likes of Gulacsi, Coady, Suso, Ings etc back as squad player though.

7.) 29 Jul 2020 20:21:35
Can we get xabi alonso out of retirement?

8.) 29 Jul 2020 20:27:27
This is tough.

Lovren
Coutinio (the fab four were class and I don't think coutinio alone leaving made us into ucl contenders and pl contenders. I think, like klopp said, we were going to get there in 4 years anyway. I'd rather have Alisson and vvd, but we have them now. For lack of better options I go for pip)
I'd just take ings too. If it was talent alone i guess it's suarez, but he's old and, nah, talked myself out of it

Lovren
Coutinio
Suarez.

9.) 29 Jul 2020 20:59:50
I'd look at Ings, Aspas and Luis Alberto. As mentioned earlier today, we really need to be more clinical and put away more of our chances. They're all starters now, but I would use Ings and Aspas as back-ups in front when our starters are not firing, and Alberto if Keita goes into a funk again.

10.) 29 Jul 2020 21:29:32
What about torres at his best wearing red lost at sea in blue don't forget rush or even Fowler but never owen he should stick with horses.

11.) 30 Jul 2020 03:55:12
Definitely Alberto. I thought he had the traits to be a big player one day but our youth system was very different then and of course a lot was expected of him too early. I question whether or not Ings could outperform Origi when coming off the bench or not starting a run of games but I love to see him performing for Southampton though and think a lot of him.

Aspas, Suso both good shouts. Definitely reached heights they never came close to with us. Coutinho and Suarez would never come back and wouldn't be welcome by the majority of fans anyway.

Honestly, Coady might be the only one we could really use, but even then he wouldn't be in the first eleven over Gomez.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d have Suarez & Coutinho back. Yes they left under a cloud but people make mistakes and deserve a second chance. I’ve forgiven Eds 001’s mum for conceiving him. Suarez off the bench for 20 mins would be a delight he wouldn’t got those glorious heights of 2015-16 but at least he’d have some fire in his belly. As for Couts contrary to informed opinion I’d have him back Initially on loan because I think he’d play his heart out to get a permanent move to us. I’m sure he has the ability to modify his play and move the ball quicker and stifle the shoot whenever you can philosophy of his. A year with Klopp and I think he’d be a better player.

12.) 30 Jul 2020 07:03:40
Sterling a squad player hahahaha one of the best players in the world. Suarez would fly in our team. Coutinho would fly in our team.

13.) 30 Jul 2020 12:32:04
First time I ever disagreed with ed666. Suarez racially abused and bit his way out the club. Not for me I'm afraid, would probably also disrupt the harmony of the locker room. Coutinho got his dream move and pissed his opportunity up the wall after faking injury, and where would he fit in the team and how would we afford his wages lol.

Ings is the only one I would want, but also would not want because he is better off playing week in week out as he is not getting any younger.

More than happy to see the development of Harvey, Curtis, Williams et al with the addition of defensive cover at lb and cd.

Hello Ed001 and Ed002, hope you're both well.

Given the transfer windows are truly closed for now (thankfully), would you be able/ willing to shed some retrospective light on LFC's window?

Which players did LFC truly show a serious interest in this summer that didn't pan out (either due to an unwillingness to pay the required price or the player unwilling to come to sit on the bench)?

Much appreciated!

Doha Red

{Ed002's Note - I spent the entire window explaining interest in few and explaining the Fat Kid from Bolton was misleading everyone.}

1.) 03 Sep 2019 17:13:49
I believe we had interest in Lloyd Kelly, but bournemouth came in with a big offer which we weren't willing to match.

Cornet was looked at as a good option upfront to push the first team but again never materialised.

believe that was pretty much it!

2.) 03 Sep 2019 17:19:56
I don't know how serious our interest was in Diego Laxalt at AC Milan, but he ended up going to Torino on loan. Surely we could have got him at a snip. Then again if AC Milan are willing to loan him out and the best move he could get was Torino, maybe he's not of the calibre that we require anyway.

All I've seen of him have been international matches with Uruguay, and haven't really seen him at club level. If he was watched, I trust our scouts judgement for backing away.

3.) 05 Sep 2019 11:40:03
I'm guessing Laxalt left Milan to get more game time so there'd be no point in him coming to Liverpool.

Hello Ed's,
Hope it's ok to post this on here. Please let me know if not.

I've got an extra hotel room available next weekend in Madrid if anyone is still looking for one.

It's smack centre of Madrid on Gran Via.

Let me know if interested.

Cheers.

How much mate?

2.) 25 May 2019 22:49:50
Crickey, how much are we talking?

3.) 25 May 2019 23:45:05
I’d be interested, even if it was shared!

4.) 26 May 2019 05:59:49
900€ for 30th - 2nd. it's a single room though, not a double. Happy to get a little less than I paid for it since it's non-refundable.
Cheers.

5.) 26 May 2019 16:47:04
I stopped the Liverpool Village Hotel on Friday it cos £50. If I want to stop on Saturday 1st it's £499. So 900€ for 2 nights in Madrid sounds like a bargain.

6.) 27 May 2019 14:01:43
That's some serious dosh, Langland.

Mine in Madrid is for 3 nights. the same room just before the hotel sold out was at 1500 euros per night - shocking!

Here's wishing all fans and Eds on here a very happy and fulfilling 2019!

Don't post often but it's my absolute favorite site, so a special THANK YOU to the Eds for their tireless efforts in keeping us informed and entertained.

1.) 31 Dec 2018 13:33:43
Well said mate, massive credit has to go to the Eds, constant information every single day of the year, absolutely quality, not to mention the posters who are equally as sound as a pound. I, as we all have had disagreements with certain posters but the be all and end all is we're all as one and I appreciate every single person on this site and the others!

The best Internet website going, I look forward to more of it in 2019, the best thing about 2019 will be the positivity after we win the league, I can't bloody wait!

2.) 31 Dec 2018 14:03:01
Happy New Year Eds particularly Eds 1, 2, 25 and 333 who post on this site and make it great. and 7 who makes rare appearances :) Hope you and everyone on this site has a great new year! Your best year in 29 years to be exact :)

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed DS! And Happy New Year to you and all the posters and their loved ones. May 2019 bring you health, wealth and most of all happiness.}

3.) 31 Dec 2018 16:25:06
Is that a cheeky one put in there ed or pure coincidence? May 2019 here's hoping it's a good month 😂😂

Anyway happy New year to you all, some probably already drunk over the other side of the world no doubt. The rest will play catch up lol. Enjoy everyone and stay safe.

4.) 31 Dec 2018 16:29:09
Personally I dislike all the Editors except Ed033. He's a legend. The rest of them are too opinionated. Especially that Tris bloke. Terrible bunch 😉.

5.) 31 Dec 2018 16:42:35
Edd 33 doesn't get enough credit for what he does.

6.) 31 Dec 2018 17:13:06
I know what you mean. Even some of the posters on here. Imagine! There's this one guy who can write entire essays and books about football and drive any reader to sleep. Goes by the name of EMS or MKS, or something similar. 😉.

7.) 31 Dec 2018 17:24:49
Yeah, dito. Well said OP. And well said ed01, classy mate. Classy site and classy posters. Classy team, classy manager, classy cb, classy gk. I could go on and on.

Great year for the reds. We may have lost the big one last season (seems along time ago now) but jeez, we, us, Liverpool made the final. Above barca, juve, City or bayern and with salah we would have smashed them. It shell shocked us. The progression is the best I've ever seen it and I was born in 81. Didn't get into footy till I was 6-7. Next year will be our year. The 19th league title will sit in our cabinet in the 19th year of the millennium. It will be the restart of our WORLD domination. I reckon we will pick up one of the other two as well, if not both.

Grab on to that perch with all your might utd. Coz your lease is just about up.

8.) 31 Dec 2018 18:08:51
ArAy, god he sounds unbearable! Thank Fowler we're not like that!

9.) 31 Dec 2018 18:20:27
Speaking of him! we need more articles from you mate, it'd been too long! lol :) .

10.) 31 Dec 2018 18:33:26
Agreed Salah! Always enjoyed your articles MK and hopefully 2019 will bring us a few more if you have the time.

11.) 31 Dec 2018 22:37:49
Cheers guys. I miss writing them so we'll see!

Enjoy the evening Eds and reds. Happy New year.

{Ed033's Note - Why thank you negativeredwalter, and Adam of Grayskull.

Lol…good one Ed002. Happy to see you getting in on the ‘my giddy aunt’ action!

Great signing Dom S…he’s been on Jurgen’s radar for a number of years now if memory serves me right.

A question for you Ed002, if I may.

Does a club typically take out insurance against injuries, I. e. the insurance company pays the wages while someone is injured (Like short term disability insurance if you work in a company)? Or is the entire bill footed by the club?

I ask because an injury-ridden season like ours could be horrendously costly both in terms of paying wages for players who aren’t playing and in terms of not making it into the CL…double whammy.

Many thanks!

Doha Red

{Ed001's Note - I can answer that - professional clubs have to have insurance against injuries. They would not get a license to operate without insuring their players against injuries. That covers treatment as well as salaries.}

So from what I can understand, this is no longer in Fulham's hands if no pre-agreement can be reached. They've shot themselves in the foot.

It is basically in Fabio's hands now. If he wants to come to us, we have a deal, otherwise he is free to choose to go elsewhere and Fulham will get a lot less (not his problem) .

The only advantage for us now seems to be that he was interested in joining us. But if that were the case, we could have waited till July in any case.

We'll see if he wants to come to us when every club in Europe is beating down his door and offering a nice package.

Doha Red

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot have a pre-agreement and have no "deal". Other clubs will continue to seek a pre-agreement.}

Spot on Ed014.

Certainly a giggle-worthy move from Arteta but no need to be bigheaded. Karma can be a b****, as we Reds know. I don't want to tempt fate ?.

Doha Red

{Ed014's Note - defo mate, just enjoy the ride as United fans have found the road back down to be a very bumpy ride.

And they deserve all the shit they’re getting for being Billy big boots on the way up.

I agree fully Faithinworks.

It's a bit of a headscratcher to me why Klopp didn't play him more - he certainly made it count when he did play. I would have kept him for both his versatility and goal returns and gotten Ox out before him.

But I guess Jurgen has well earned the right to make decisions :)

Agree wholeheartedly w/ Ed001 on this.

We need to improve our finishing as a team, not just buy a single player to score goals. It is what has "cost us" the quadruple this year, in my view. We create a boatload of changes every game and need to get better at putting them in the back of the net. I realise it's a funny thing to say when we've scored the number of goals we have but I think we score a lot in bursts when everything is clicking and then struggle as we did in the 3 finals.

Lol Thunderbird.

To be fair, it only took the team making it to 3 finals, winning 2, almost wiping out a 14 (or 8+ if we want to be pedantic Pep) point deficit to acknowledge it. 😂.

I'm with Ed0001 on the superstition. Same for me, except I HAVE to watch and i need to put on one of the black jerseys (not the home ones) . Oh, and of course the usual seat etc etc.

Oh, and this applies to the kids as well.

My wife is a saint. bless her. Amd my friends are tolerant of me showing up to fancy dos in LFC jerseys. bless 'em too. 😜.
