Any truth in Kelleher rumours that he's leaving in Summer? Spurs move mooted.
{Ed002's Note - Caoimhin Kelleher (G) The player needs to consider his future and could look to move on for first team football in the summer. Whilst Spurs are looking for a new GK, they have identified a first choice target they would like and I am not aware of any approach to Liverpool about CK and I suspect that they will have a new coach this summer who will have his own ideas.}

He's a quality keeper is Kelleher but - I hate to say it - he won't displace Allison for a good few years so he should be sold, for a good price, to benefit both our transfer funds and his career. Shame but those are the realities!

You need a top class back up goalie to win league. Allison has been injured before. If not CK we need someone at that level.

Not wishing to start a stampede on which goalies we must buy (as we are still assessing if we need to buy three or four new forwards to replace Bobby and perhaps Diogo) but I did see a report yesterday that young Pitulaga (who is 20 now) is assessing his situation. Given Adrian is out of contract at the end of the season we could just be down to Ali next season ……….

Just as Adrian did in previous years, there will be keepers out there of CK competency happy to fulfil the role of number 2. Problem with a younger number 2 is if they aren't going to displace the number 1 imminently they will obviously look to build a career elsewhere. Pity, as I do think CK is top level number 1 potential, but Ali is the best in the world and could play for another 5-6 years easily. If I was CK I’d have already gone.

I find the CK situation puzzling. I would have hoped that we loaned him out for a couple years and not let him just leave the club. He just looks like a keeper that would slot right in when Ali is out, surely ya don’t just let someone like that walk.

I don't disagree with anything said above but I feel it's unfair to keep Kelleher here when he's not moving Allison from between the sticks for the next 4/ 5 years. It's just bad timing that we have two top quality GK options at the same time. I doubt there are many clubs with 2 GKs this good but I think him leaving will benefit us (£s) and him (career) - sad but true.
I believe there are high hopes for Pitaluga so I don't think we'd be completely stuffed if CK left, plus I guess we'd look to sign an older backup like Adrian if it did happen.

Hi Eds, Thanks for providing some insight on the Mendy situation. While it is certainly encouraging that we're in the mix for the best players available, I'm just not sure if we'll be able to afford paying 180k-220k/ week for a left back, if the rumours of about his salary is true. Unless of course we are just using the VVD money and investing it on Mendy instead.

I haven't seen enough of him, barring the champions league games with city and juve. I did however see some clips on youtube but they only showed his attacking side. So how is he defensively?

He's pretty good defensively on account of his brick outhouse frame and his whippet-like speed. These attributes get him out of some sticky situations. Against a flying winger he might not recover his position quite so easily.

Fair to say, anyone outside the clue is not in the know.
Gakpo and Fabinho transfers have taught us this.

Considering everyone thought United were nailed on to sign Gapko, this actually shows that you could be Jurgen Klopp and still not be 'in the know'. Things can change at the drop of a hat due to the sheer amount of variables involved.
All the Ed's can do is pass on where they know of interest, which is a lot more than we get from anywhere else. Plus it'd be boring if we knew exactly who the club were signing before it happened!

The problem the eds have, specifically ed02, is that somehow adults with jobs and complicated lives, cannot comprehend that it's possible for multiple clubs to have multiple targets. Ed02 cannot inform this site if another club is progressing a transfer of a Liverpool target without causing abuse, likewise if we target someone and it does not come to fruition said abuse rears its head once more.
What's truly perplexing is most of these people likely played or still partake in football manager and the like, simulating such a process every day in their pants with crumbs in their chest hair.

Ed002 is literally an encyclopedia for transfers.
The papers are all noise and just repeat 1 ITK and then pass it on as their own, just look at Fabrizio! Then claim they got it right but a broken clock is right twice a day.
Time and time again he (or she) provide information 99% of us wouldn't get near and to top it all its FOC.
Football is a fast moving industry, but he constantly keeps us ahead of the game and let's us know who we are looking at.
This site is completely unmatched when it comes to liverpool or transfer information but some take it for granted, you'll only regret it when it's gone and we've been close on a few occasions.
