Eds are Liverpool looking ....

Give Origi a chance

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages - this is the Liverpool page.}

20 Apr 2017 18:50:23
I'm not saying sell hendo but say if Klopp what's a new captain who would you people like.

Give Origi a chance

1.) 20 Apr 2017 19:05:49
Adam Lallana.

2.) 20 Apr 2017 19:11:09
To be honest, I think that is one area we really struggle with - we don't appear to have too many natural
leaders in the squad. If I had to pick, I would probably say Lallana at this time, but would like to see a strong presence at centre back or midfield that has the qualities to captain the side.

3.) 20 Apr 2017 22:52:46
Matip or Lovren.

4.) 20 Apr 2017 23:37:57
The problem with Lallana for me is that I feel he talks too much. Maybe I'm getting old, but that Nivea ad makes me cringe and I wish he would just zip it sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - same with me. Never a captain in a million years, he is one of the biggest culprits for going missing when it matters, especially after he has been spouting off to the press.}

5.) 21 Apr 2017 00:07:53
Milner.

6.) 21 Apr 2017 01:12:54
Lovren. seriously?

7.) 21 Apr 2017 01:22:36
Wijnaldum - has captained PSV before, is experienced and involved in everything in the middle of the park. Failing that perhaps Llalana.

8.) 21 Apr 2017 07:57:44
Always thought lucas deserved a shake of the stick. The ammount of crap that guy used to take only to change everyones opinion on him and knowing everyone was calling for his head, shows commitment and grit.

9.) 21 Apr 2017 08:31:48
Honestly next season we could have it that our captain is hendo milner our vice and Lucas our vice vice but none of these 3 could be playing if a midfielder is signed or hendo injured. Personally in this scenario I'd give it to coutinho see if he can take the next step to be a real leader on the pitch for us!

10.) 21 Apr 2017 10:47:32
i think having watched all the matches and the available tunnel cam programs in our team we don't seem to have that leader bully in the team a captain needs to be very vocal lead by example and to some extent a bully as he needs to verbally harass players to get a reaction on the field, for example when Gerrard was captain he led more by example early on his captaincy and learned to be more vocal but he always had Carragher who whilst always led by example on the pitch was the verbal bully always talking and shouting
I just don't see that in this team.

11.) 21 Apr 2017 15:07:01
I wouldn't pick Lallana because I can't see him staying in the starting line up for any more than another 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a substitute next season even.

Personally I would give it to a player like Firmino. I think the additional responsibilities would elevate him to a new level. He may not be your typical Carragher or Keane type leader, but he has that desire which drives others to work harder and the ability to win a game on his own at times. Kind of like a Gerrard type inspirational leader.

12.) 21 Apr 2017 15:15:18
If not Henderson I'd go with Milner.

13.) 21 Apr 2017 15:13:24
In a way, it's a sign of the times. The typical vocal leader that rallies the players and leads by example is becoming more and more scarce in the game. I struggle to think of too many out there.

14.) 21 Apr 2017 15:22:52
If Lallana is everyone's candidate then it's a sad indictment of the team's leadership stocks. No disrespect to Lallana, but he's not a leader that can galvanise a team. Not in a million years.

15.) 21 Apr 2017 19:16:33
Agree with Robin, Lallana is the only real option but it's a sad commentary on the state of our players leadership credentials rather than a glowing reference for Lallana.

11 Apr 2017 20:55:33
When hendo fit who plays emre or hendo

For me hendo because he's a much better but I'm a big emre can fan he's got everything you need in a player.

Ed who would start.

Give Origi a chance

{Ed001's Note - why not Can, Hendo and Wijnaldum?}

1.) 11 Apr 2017 21:19:08
I really hope the Club and Can can come to an agreement over a new contract. He is looking like the real deal.

2.) 11 Apr 2017 22:00:43
That midfield overkills. Loads of possession and no clear cut chances. Combined three of them has how many goals?

3.) 11 Apr 2017 22:12:35
I like both players but I prefer Hendo as a box to box player rather than the sitting player he has been this season. Plus I haven't seen Hendo and Can play well together this season. Glad to see Can come through his difficult patch and prove some haters on here wrong. Think he's going to grow into one of the best midfielders in the Prem. if he works on some of those loose passes and speeding his game up a touch he'll have everything a midfielder should and more. Sign him up!

4.) 11 Apr 2017 22:51:18
Do you think hendersons injuries this season and last is why klopp is playing him in a deeper role so he does less running.

5.) 11 Apr 2017 23:06:27
Emre is a quality midfielder, him and wijnaldum have a really good understanding and are performing at a really high level. We haven't missed hendo at all.

{Ed025's Note - hmmmm..

6.) 11 Apr 2017 23:03:22
Because I feel Lallana adds something different and he's a key player under Klopp.

7.) 12 Apr 2017 01:06:13
Harry, they wouldn't be in the team to score goals, goals aren't an issue for us, well scoring them anyway, they play now and we're still leading scorers, hasn't held us back the lack of goals, very few teams have actually completely outplayed us, we have had bad days certainly but that midfield are there to protect firstly, be competitive, gini can pass, Hendo a machine, can plays better in a 3, I think they compliment well when all fit, but the amount of games next season (touch wood, fingers crossed) there will be games for those who merit more game time, rotation, injuries, form, attitude, a hungry squad of players who know they need to perform when given chance or face not bein given further opportunity.
How many goals have matic and Kante? Winks, dier, dembele, Wanyama? Fernadinho and fernando?
The way we play doesn't cater to the all out attacking midfield in that way, our front 3 and one midfielder supporting alongside wing backs is mainly how I feel we setup, ideal for lightning counter attacking and drawing teams in, but not for the middle 3 to be able to stay forward, I think a lot like Chelsea from last season to this, 3 to 4 first team challenging players in the right positions could make all the difference, added to the youth hopefully stepping up, anything can happen, try and change how you view our own players Harry, picking holes in players and highlighting just one aspect of football (granted a massive part) goals to in your minds eye to attempt to validate your gripe, try and be more balanced. Hey I get some players are better than others and players do frustrate us, we're all human even us fans.
I'd say at least 60% (guestimate) of players would probably be considered not good enough by portions of their own fans/ supporters, even Champions have room for improvement, if you don't move forward you may aswell be moving backwards.
So yes maybe some of us as supporters could also look at the development of how we support and look at our weak areas to improve ourselves, opinions tho, that's why we all love football and how it divides and brings together differences in said opinions.
Love this site, genuinely I am on here every day at least for an hour every few hours and have been for many years and will always, the news this site has given me before others has always kept me loyal and always will, peace out and sorry for the ramble. Here's to hopefully a positive finish to the season.

8.) 12 Apr 2017 01:12:33
Lallana, Wijnaldum, Henderson when these 3 are fithe they start. Can is a very solid player but I feel these 3 play best together.

9.) 12 Apr 2017 01:32:02
Am i on the right site here eds. Last time i was on here Emre Can was a poor mans Salif Diao. Love how fickle most of our "fans" are.

{Ed007's Note - A lot 'Can' happen in two months.... So where have you been?}

10.) 12 Apr 2017 02:04:24
Ive always believed in can but on a side note i believe in all players that play for the club no matter how much i dislike them i even put up with Paul Ince and believe me i hate/ hated that guy. But on the question of our midfield players that have been named here i do believe Lallana has improved whether you believe its Klopps influence or just the tweak in position and duties but i think id go for a fully fit trio of Henderson, Wjinaldum and Can. reason being I don't like our midfield to be bullied and I find these three to be more physical and should be able to dominate as a three, they have goals in them and have all created goals also this season, its a preference but just my thinking.

11.) 12 Apr 2017 02:10:14
Ed 025, would you be able to construct an argument rather than feel the need to sarcastically reply to my comment. Although perhaps you may find it challenging to form an intelligent response to argue your point. Emre and wijnaldum and Lucas dominated your midfield in the derby, they dismantled Gueye, Davies and Barkley none of whom would get into our full strength 11. You seem to have a grudge with anything regards Liverpool. Just a reminder, ye are nowhere near us and it shows when your main man is gone in the Summer, small club.

{Ed025's Note - my response was not meant to be sarcastic sakho it was my way of expressing my disbelief at your comments about can and wiji, less than a month ago can was a pariah on here with the fickle liverpool supporters and now hes the best thing since sliced bread!, its a miracle how in 3 weeks he has turned from seth johnson into lionel messi and says a lot about the typical liverpool fan, wiji is not a bad player but lets not pretend he is anything better than average as he drifts in and out of games so much but so as not to create an argument i abbreviated my answer to a simple hmmmm, next time it will be a ????? mate, i do say a lot of nice things about your team and give credit where i think due but my lack of red tinted glasses will not force me to tell lies..

12.) 12 Apr 2017 08:48:10
Seth Johnson into Messi is classic!

13.) 12 Apr 2017 03:01:06
At her majestys pleasure.

{Ed007's Note - That's not so good buddy but hopefully you've learnt your lesson and won't get caught next time :)

14.) 12 Apr 2017 14:55:56
I haven't been able to watch last few games. Draw vs's Cherries was frustrating but was surprised with win against Stoke after going a goal down. Was keeping track of live text updates.

John Walters makes it a point to score against us every time. He likes us a lot I guess.

As I said earlier one swallow does not make a summer. Maybe Can has played well last couple of games but he has to improve a lot if he has to cement a spot on regular basis.

He is lucky that he has got so many opportunities in terms of game time. Just imagine if Hendo was fit.

Some of the praise from Can fans makes me think they are secretly praising Dele Alli in disguise.

Cheers.

15.) 12 Apr 2017 15:30:30
Unconditional,

We score goals coz we don't play 3 identical players in the middle. You don't understand our system. Why not ask the OP about their roles in this formation.

16.) 12 Apr 2017 08:29:30
Much respect Ed 025,some solid points the. We all know Can is work in progres and Wiji will blow hot and cold, moral of the story its a team effort more then down to individual brilliance. Having said that Can is starting to find form and showing some real effort and for that he deserves some credit as you have pointed but how we treat our players is far from convincing. Just look at how Studg was feasted over last week apperently for not showing enuf effort, forgetting that the same guys just came back from injury and by the way his goals almost contributed to us winning the league a few seasons ago. Speaking of goals the classic was when Firmino was crucified for not scoring 50 goals, Couts shoots too much and the list is endless. 1 win and the same fans will call them world class, lol ya ne.

{Ed025's Note - i think liverpool are going in the right direction ore and that is down to having the best manager in the league, you do need a few players though and it wont be easy because of the financial state of the club, but good luck with it all mate..

17.) 12 Apr 2017 20:36:32
Wrong! We score goals cos we have several players in the box during most of our attacks which stretches a defense. We play on the front foot all the time and our front three or 4 or 5 depending, are a nightmare for opposing defenders. We are top 5 in Europe for chances created and lead the PL in goals scored.

Unconditional's post was well-thought out and had great points in it. You are the one saying that we overkill in midfield with possession. Really? If that was the case, how do we lead the PL in goals scored if we possess the ball till we are blue in the face? Our team is not perfect and in need of constant improvement BUT you seem to want everything to happen right now.

Your posts are never balanced as everything is always black and white and always generalized. Also, you slate Klopp for EVERYTHING win, lose or draw. You are NEVER happy it seems until we get the manager you want, sign the players you want and play the way you want. Can you just support the team for crying out loud instead always having something to gripe about. SHEESH!

I know you hate talking money but surely with all the money in the game Liverpool should be asking more money than what we got for Suarez.

Does anyone else see us playing 3 at the back next season

Matip lovren Gomez or hopefully VVD that would be a dre

TAA would be perfect for the Rwb position- Klopp ready said he needs to work on the defending side so playing 3 at the back would allow him to push forward.

Milner and hopefully the Fulham kid also are better attacking.

Hendo Gini can can fight it out for the cm postion

Coutinho postion would not change because he likes to play inside.

Mane can play the other side

Lallana can play any of them 2 postion

Firmino and Origi can also fight it out.

At least we look good at the back but that's been most of the time with lovren and Matip

I love Lucas and I think he's help out this last month but he can pass the ball like hendo or shoot like him so teams let Lucas have the ball.

We also miss Lallana when he plays it makes as play faster and coutinho does not feel he needs to drop deep.

We do miss a class st in my eyes and a wide player but that's just my opinion.
