Hello all

A while back, there was here some mentioning of Tottenham being interested in taking Henderson for next season. Could that still be on, or Wanyama's signing ended a potential interest in him?

Are there any clubs showing any interest in Henderson?

IhShinron

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not looking to sell their captain.}

1.) 22 Jul 2016 14:57:01
It was never on, just media crap.

2.) 22 Jul 2016 15:04:49
He needs to get back to himself and have a big season or I fear he'll be sold next summer.

3.) 22 Jul 2016 15:18:39
Captain hendo STAYS! I wouldn't of even posted that question.

4.) 22 Jul 2016 15:42:28
Some people want him gone and have done since he came to LFC.

5.) 22 Jul 2016 15:57:08
Every player should come back and compete as if their future depends on it.
Hendo will.
Thats why Klopp is bringing in better players to challenge the previous big signings to step up.

Its what's wrong with the England national team.
Outd of form players picked by an out of touch manager.
Klopp i'd different.

6.) 22 Jul 2016 16:19:07
he was never in touch i think.

7.) 22 Jul 2016 17:45:01
I can't believe that anyone would think that Henderson's captaincy which is in its infancy would be difference between him being sold or not. This is Premier League football not Sunday League.

8.) 22 Jul 2016 18:01:09
It's been years and years, but it still boggles my mind as to how Woy was able to take the Swiss national side to the #3 Worldwide FIFA ranking (the rankings being another story altogether) .

9.) 22 Jul 2016 22:38:56
That was about 25 years ago. That's a generation, my friend ra1969.

10.) 23 Jul 2016 17:30:21
Maybe the Swiss players were more open to doing what he wanted and weren't big stars wanting their own way or believing their own hype.

11.) 25 Jul 2016 06:23:57
Captains should play in every game. With new additions, not sure Hendo or Milner stay captains this year as they might be warming the bench. Personally, think Can should get the armband.

Hello all.
For Ed002.

I was wondering if there was any similarity at this point between the Teixeira and the Mkhitaryan negotiation that ended up with him in Dortmund.

I searched and saw you said the Mkhitaryan deal was never going to happen for us because of the price being too high and Shakhtar wanting a single payment.

Did Dortmund/ Klopp just accepted those terms and that was it, or was there something else they did to ease the transfer in their favor? I read somewhere else an opinion saying that Klopp got Mkhiraryan with some aggresive or disgraceful moves.
Thanks,

IhShinron

{Ed002's Note - As you say Mkhitaryan to Liverpool was never going to happen. Klopp had no financial control or involvement in negotions at Dortmund but they agreed to Shakhtar's terms. There is no comparison to what is happening now with Teixeira - where it is a matter of offering sufficient money and persuading the owner that they should sell now rather than in the summer.}

1.) 27 Jan 2016 16:31:51
Sly Sports reckon that the deal has stalled over the fee which is what the Eds said so I wouldn't hold my breath over him moving here until the summer at the earliest if at all. Just being a realist. I hope I'm wrong. He looks good but in all honesty and like most people on here, I'd never heard of him until Liverpools interest became known.

2.) 27 Jan 2016 18:00:13
It seems to me, to be more of a ploy by Shaktar to encourage a bigger offer from Liverpool.

12 May 2014 15:38:35
In spain, some media are stating that LFC is interested in Cristian Benavente (19) from Real Madrid B. He's a peruvian player and of course it has been commented by media in Perú as well. Do any of the Eds know anything about this interest? Could it be a player LFC would bid on? He's played with the national team a couple of times already but I don't know how likely he would be for a work permit

IhShinron

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know, sorry.}

Did anyone else get the sense during Newcastle match, for the first time in a while, that Mane and Salah were comfortable playing with each other? They seemed to build up play together, something I don't remember of being usual for the last games.

IhShinron

1.) 27 Jul 2020 19:29:54
OP, they have always been comfortable playing with each other, IMO. The issue is when either one get bitten by the selfish bug during games that things appear to be sour btw them but I don't think that is the case, overall. Just my take.

Backup needed? Haha think again.

ED01 .

How would you play against Barcelona first game away?
I'm trying to think how to press them whithout having a short blanket at the back if they drop Busquets and the other midfielders to make at least a 7 (+1) man superiority to build from the back.

Maybe Klopp unleashes the full throttle pressing and high tempo like organized mad dogs, or those days are gone without Buvac?

Already nervous.

IhShinron

{Ed001's Note - not sure there is a need for that with Barca being so ponderous at the back. Better to draw them on and look to play balls in behind. Especially behind Busquets as he has the turning circle of the QE2 and literally is unable to run. Just drop off them, let them come forward and put the ball in behind them to the corners for Mane and Salah.}

1.) 23 Apr 2019 19:10:41
I agree with Ed1 especially on that big pitch of theirs probably suit us better with our pace on the break . I think firmino is the key in this game.

2.) 23 Apr 2019 19:34:32
I second that, Ed01. The weak link for me with Barcelona is indeed Busquets and that paper-weight of a central defence they have. There is a reason why according to Sid Lowe, Barcelona are terrified of facing us in the semis. According to Lowe, the Barcelona faithful know they may not have the defence to stop our front 3 and tho they have Messi (the x-factor, IMO), they are not as sure of themselves esp. considering how much damage Utd could have done to them in the first 20 mins of the Q final second leg at the Nou Camp. All we have to do is keep the tie alive after the first leg and let Anfield do what it does on Euro nights. However to do that, we may have to score at the Nou Camp.

{Ed001's Note - that defence is terrible, even some of the Spanish sides are causing it problems and they roll over and die against Barca.}

3.) 23 Apr 2019 20:20:52
I think if we play with two of Milner gini and hendo covering the wings like usual, helping out the full backs, we can leave salah and mane higher. Alba will bomb forward and salah will be one vs one with pique and I know who I will back there.

4.) 23 Apr 2019 20:24:27
Nothing to be nervous about Inshinron, a European semi final is there to be enjoyed.
Plus this is Liverpool we're talking about here, Im sure another classic tie to be enjoyed for years to come in the making.

5.) 23 Apr 2019 20:39:48
With you there, Ed01. Barcelona are dreadful defensively and frankly, always have been since the days of Cruyff cos their idea of defending is tiki-taka/ possession football, based on the mantra of, "If you don't have the ball then, you can't attack us. In fact, I saw a bit of the Barcelona v Sociedad game this weekend and good grief, Sociedad should have scored 3 had they had the self belief to take their chances.

Now, this is La Real Sociedad we're talking about here. A team that is not in the same Solar System as Liverpool right now in terms of quality and ability. If this is what Sociedad is doing to them then they are right to fear LFC. As for teams jsut rolling over for Barcelona at the Camp Nou, these same teams give Real Madrid a tougher time at the Bernabaeu than they do vs Barca.

6.) 24 Apr 2019 01:30:38
Lately we've kind of played a diamond system with firmino at the tip and mane and mo up top, I think that could be useful against Barca, if we can dominate the midfield we beat them. I just fancy our intensity over there's, if our defence deals with their attack we should definately outscore them, anfield atmosphere will play a huge part too if we can get a job done in nou camp.

Ed's, who recommended or pushed for Robertson's signing? Was it Klopp, a scout, The Brain?
Can't believe the progression the guy has made. Today he was unbeatable in 1v1, same he's been outstanding all season.

Just would like to know where credit is due for seeing the potential as he was a liability having little experience before joining. Or maybe I remember incorrectly and he did show great potential before signing?

Bad result tonight, but we have played smartly and we were very close. The game shifted by some details, overall to me: we were the more composed team, setting the tempo on the game (without necessarily having the possession) . When we saw the chance to attack we were very close. City had many chances but took them lot more work to get there.

This team serms mentally strong. Something LFC did not have for a long time. Exciting times to enjoy being LFC fan.

IhShinron

{Ed001's Note - it would have to have been more than 1 person. A scout (or more) would have recommended him initially, then he would have been scouted repeatedly. The data analysts would have looked at his data and also recommended him. Then it would be up to Klopp to make the final call.}

1.) 04 Jan 2019 06:15:10
Good to see your positive vibe IhShinron. Couldn't agree more that it was just a few details between us and them but they deserved it as they took their chances. Klopp is to be creditted so far for me as regarding their mental strength. See how they roared back at Arsenal. If there's anything I'm worried about, its how the likes of Lovren and Lallana run their mouths on TV and subsequently fail to run their brain with the ball at their feet on the pitch. I know they can't be banned but these could undermine the sanity Klopp is trying instill in the squad. Other than that, I think these boys deserve credit for what they are doing. I personally think the timing of this slip up was right and now we can get over it at Wolves and regain our groove. Couldn't be more happy to be a fan at a time when Klopp and these players are making us believe again and we have our own fate in our hands. Bring it on!

2.) 04 Jan 2019 06:38:25
It was very close - the width of the post and it could have gone either way. We shouldn’t be shocked to be nicked at Man City away either, they are one of the best ever teams to play in the PL and they only just scraped home. The difference being marginal except for perhaps Fernandinho having a stormer and Sane giving Trent and Lovren a tough time.

On to the next one lads, chin up. I still trust in the squad we’ve built and fortress Anfield to bring it home. We should still be very happy to be where we are now, and it was always likely to be a fight to the last few matches with the strength of the league.

3.) 04 Jan 2019 06:58:13
I agree we were at least equal or maybe the better team. We almost shut City's attack down. Does anybody remember the games we won last year how much we suffered defensively? Tonight the 1st goal was due to Aguero's brilliance (got to admire this player) and the second was really tight to pull off as well. Apart from that they only had one chance when we were all out in front. We had good chances but we're unlucky. Stones nutmeged Salah with a clearance on the line! That being said Lovren and TAA weren't that good tonight. Not abysmal, not bad, just not so good. I have the impression without looking much into it that city targeted them the whole game. Maybe 70% of their attacks were through our right flank and they pressed every first ball to this side. They just put them on the spotlight and waited.

Tough game, it could go either way. Please stop the hate and support the team. We are 4 points clear, we are in terrific shape.

YNWA.

LFC Announcement ending interest in VVD. Is this still a smart thing to say EDs?

IhShinron

{Ed002's Note - It is a very embarrassing statement for the club to have to make.}

Hay dub red: He said "we can't" sign a CB just for the weekend. Surely trying to minimize the issue and deflect the question.

Ed, is Andre still being considered despite Fluminense looking to sell past December or after their Libertadores participation?

IhShinron

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, it will be very difficult for him to be signed now.}

I don't see the need for that change. Just first defeat of the season. It doesn't make us in need of a new signing to change the best defence in the league.

Gabriel Jesús is seen more as the Brazilian type of player and is more recognized for that in Brazil. Unless GJ gives a really bad performance Bobby will always be behind him in this WC.

IhShinron

{Ed001's Note - no, he plays because he is Neymar's best mate.}

To me Klopp is not going to be rushing AGAIN in placing a new player as keeper.
Karius will start next season if he's fit, the rest of keepers available then will have to wait for their chance.

Karius needs time. He was taken to Citeh's youth team because he has the potential. He needs to be trusted to develop. The 26th will say a lot, I'm sure.

I think it's the other way around. After reading Macca's post maybe Jason Burt is credible for a moment.
