Hi Eds, new to the site and apologies if it's been asked already but is there any interest in wan-bissaka from liverpool, think he is one of those standout performers who can be world class
Thanks from Ireland.

Can't help feeling disappointed after last night, maybe it'll stop the fans who are saying we've already won the league. All of a sudden spurs are back in the race now too.
Just a question to the Eds please, what is your opinions on the warm weather training LFC had in Dubai last week, surely it would be better to send them to Iceland to help them adapt to the cold at this time of year. I don't think its beneficial at all as we saw last night the players looked disinterested after coming back from holidays
Thanks as always.

Irishman-lfc

{Ed001's Note - if you believe they looked disinterested then I have no idea what you are looking at.}

1.) 31 Jan 2019 09:17:21
Well it clearly didn't work did it. I thought the fans were poor last night, it'll just be as cold vs Bayern, but the atmosphere will be electric.
Prem fans just don't ever seem up for it as much as the Champions League nights.

2.) 31 Jan 2019 09:43:00
Disinterested! It wasn’t the best performance but on a night where we had a make shift left back in hendo and VVD coming backing back from illness. And we gained a point on City am ok with it.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 09:44:24
Training in dubai has nothing to do with a 'Holiday' warm weather training is great for getting fitness levels back up. The players definitely didn't look disinterested we played a tough opponent in harsh weather conditions and ended up with a draw, if you take the referee decisions out of it looked like a fair result for both. You're forgetting Leicester have played great against the 'top 6' and can be very difficult to play when they are set up properly. 1 point gained, we go again.

4.) 31 Jan 2019 09:53:49
I don’t think it has anything at all to do with ‘warm weather training’.
I do think we’ve lost momentum and I put the blame squarely on the Wolves game.
We lost a close game to City, that happens. But to follow it up with a pitiful performance against Wolves meant we’d lost 2 games in a row. I’m still raging about that error of judgement.

Then we almost capitulated against Palace conceding 3 goals at home ( the same number as we had conceded at home all season) .

Confidence has been sapped by these results and that’s why we were so shaky and nervous yesterday not playing with any fluency or confidence.
We need a big win to get ourselves back on our feet.

5.) 31 Jan 2019 09:58:55
What did you make of Hendo at right back Ed1? I love the lad and thought he did excellently considering being thrown into an unfamiliar position at short notice. However I felt that he struggled defensively against the pace of Gray.

Any ideas why he was played there ahead of fabinho who is more suited to the position having played there consistently in the past?

{Ed001's Note - when did he struggle against Gray's pace? I must have missed that. Gray only did anything when Hendo was caught upfield on an attack and the midfield cover was not there. Gray was never a factor when Hendo was in place.

Fabinho has been carrying a knock and ill.}

6.) 31 Jan 2019 10:09:24
I agree with Ron.
You have to keep momentum as much as possible.
Another disruptive factor was the 10 day break - everytime we have had a long break of more than 5 days between games we come back very poor and slugish and take 3 or 4 games before we are back to some degree of fluency.

7.) 31 Jan 2019 10:11:02
I’ll be honest I thought I was going to be gini but hendo did great job for me. Only thing was who was picking up Maguire but that mite not be down to him on the corners etc.

8.) 31 Jan 2019 10:29:15
As far as my maths goes, if we match or better results of teams below us we win league.

Last night wasn’t our best performance but against a Leicester team that we’ve lost points to before, on a pretty awful night for weather, with a make shift right back (who I thought did pretty well) we are still undefeated at Anfield for a long time, now an extra point ahead of city putting pressure back on them.
Last night was a freebie after city losing, we are not going to play pretty or smash teams every week, but we are taking points from games we’ve lost for years, personally I’m happy with a 5 point lead, bring on the next game.
Sit back enjoy the ride all I care about is winning the league title for the first time since I was in my early twenties, don’t care if we win it playing pretty or battling it out for point by point on a winters night.

9.) 31 Jan 2019 10:34:05
Maybe it seemed that way as he was left exposed up field by lack of midfield cover as you say. Wasn't trying to knock him as he always gives his all.

Ah that makes sense regarding fabinho. Thanks for clearing that up.

10.) 31 Jan 2019 10:55:38
Our season has been largely based on defensive strength, the defence is a bit thread bare at the minute, that’s got to be having an effect on the whole team. Gomez and TAA are back soon so hopefully things will stabilise again.

11.) 31 Jan 2019 11:14:30
I read somewhere that training in warm climate or environment has something to do in terms of fitness and health kind of thing. To use that as a point of why the team didn't do well in cold weather sounds irrelevant to me.

12.) 31 Jan 2019 12:52:34
Well said Mikey - our compaign so far has been built on a back 4 of Robbo, VVD, Gomez and TAA (and of course Alisson) and it’s no coincidence we’ve conceded more goals with all the disruption and injuries.

Hopefully Gomez and TAA back soon, and VVD back fully fit and firing, and Fabinho, Gini fit again and then we should be fine.

13.) 31 Jan 2019 19:35:10
Sorry Ron BUT I ain't buying that for one second. The warm weather training was already planned regardless so that had nothing to do with how we performed last night cos that is NOT how football works. Also, I don't believe in wasting precious bodies playing in an FA Cup game that frankly, would not mean much judging by the injuries and knocks the boys were carrying. VVD had a knock and Hendo got a knock during the Wolves warm up. Lovs was injured after two minutes and the front 3 needed a rest after a hectic schedule. What would you do if you were the manager staring down this barrel? You do what is best and play a team as competitive as possible and hope for the best. We lost and that happens.

You don't risk the whole season on an FA Cup game with these many problems, all in the name of "keeping momentum". That makes no sense. An FA cup win vs Wolves means nothing if it means we have more injuries which thankfully, we didn't. That is a fact. We have injuries to our back line and in spite of that, we are picking up wins and points while City is literally bricking it in the PL and they have NO injuries. I know who I'd rather be. Cheers, mate.

I think now that TAA is out injured klopp needs to look in the transfer market, even for a klavan type player that won't break the bank, but can come in and provide cover. A lot of games coming up and one or two more injuries will cost us. I see others saying Joe gomez to come back and cover RB, I personally hate seeing gomez play there as he's too injury prone and he risks injury a lot more in that position compared to CB as he's expected to run forward more. This is our best chance ever to win the league, surely its not the time to save in the transfer market.

1.) 16 Jan 2019 10:52:13
Normally I'd disagree, but with how close we are, and how thin it's got at the back, we need someone coming in.
If we don't pick up 3 points this weekend, the January transfer window is where we've blown it.

2.) 16 Jan 2019 11:14:18
Thin at the back? 4 centre halves and a midfielder who’s shown he’s more than capable there, 2 left backs and 4 players than can cover the right back position? Milly can also play left back if needed.
We are more than stocked at the back I think.

3.) 16 Jan 2019 11:31:48
I think the other thing to consider here is the group harmony and togetherness. You cannot upset this at this time if the squad backs itself to get through this period of injuries.

At the moment were basically looking at one match against palace and by the time we play the foxes we should have gomez and lovern back so that would be four center half on of whom can play rb.

Then we have fabinho who started off as a rb and plays rb for brazil currently.

We also have milner who played in two victories recently at rb.

Then Rafa Camacho shows promise so the options are there.

Lets trust Klopps judgement that has got us this far and keep the faith.

4.) 16 Jan 2019 11:44:29
we have two games for the rest of this month TWO, Matip is back and will a full weeks training he will play at CB with milly at RB for a couple games Gomez is already slated as coming back in contention for
the Leicester game might be to early but he will back then and back to full training halfway through next month TAA is back

LiverpoolFC8 so we lose one game and we have blown it? even tho we still would be 1 point ahead? come on man.

5.) 16 Jan 2019 11:53:26
Wasnt fab a converted right back, with matip back (for now) we should be covered for the palace game until both Gomez and then taa are back.

6.) 16 Jan 2019 12:31:18
Fabinho plays at right back for Brazil.

7.) 16 Jan 2019 12:51:52
If palace score, we’ll just have to score more. We have arguably the best front 3 in the league so don’t sweat too much.

8.) 16 Jan 2019 14:12:22
People are worrying for nothing imo.

9.) 16 Jan 2019 14:34:48
I’d be more worried about cover if one of our front three are injured. Fabinho and Milner’s flexibility and our well stocked midfield (which means we can afford to play them in a back 4) gives us plenty of options until Gomez, Matip and Lovren are back.

An injury to Salah, Mane or Firmino however and we’ll be playing Shaqiri as a starter, and have only Sturridge or Origi off the bench, neither of whom play in the style of our current front three.

10.) 16 Jan 2019 15:56:56
I know "one game at a time" but the one that worries me is the one at Old Trafford. Let's see how we stack up against a resurgent ManU. Really curious to see how much their improvement is hype and how much is real.

11.) 16 Jan 2019 18:36:56
ArAy, if you are taking it one game at a time, why are you worried about a game that will happen in a month's time, exactly? Palace is the game we have now and we all should focus on that. We will crioss the Utd bridge when we get there and not a moment before except of course, you want to give yourself heart palpitations fo no reason.

LFC08, so if we don't beat Place (which can happen btw as we have seen when they played City), we would have blown the league cos Klopp did not do what you wanted and sign someone, some warm body to make you feel better about yourself? What does that stuff even mean? Come on, man. You're not coming thru, mate. Pls, stop making situations more tense than they actually with such rhetoric cos none of it is true.

IMO, it seems people are just wishing upon a star w/ o actually looking at the facts on the ground. "We are thin". Really? How? I mean, who signs a player cos your first choice RB is out for a mighty 4 weeks whereas you have Brazil's starting RB, a CB who can play RB in Gomez and Milner who can play either FB position as cover? And what do we do with that new player when all our defenders return in a couple of weeks? Have people thought about that or is just signing a warm body to make you feel better is all that matters? Get a grip, people.

You cannot blame klopp for the results, salah matip and fabihno all had scorable chances. Not buying in january could be the biggest mistake by klopp all season.

Irishman-lfc

{Ed0333's Note - it was another bad day at the office that’s all mate. We were outstanding against watford. We have the personell but lack execution.

Robbo never ever shoots he always crosses, I remember watching videos on youtube of vvd before he signed and he had a great right foot from free kicks and long shots.

Definitely not abysmal that was an incredible game and we were unlucky not to get another goal. Still 4 points ahead just need to get a win next game.
