Does anyone know how ejaria is doing, how close is he to getting in the squad again. And is woodburn still too small to cut it?

Its a coming

1.) 30 Jan 2018 10:55:30
Ejaria is really impressing, as is Woodburn. They're the stand out players in the u23 team (along with the now injured Brewster) by far this season. They work off each other brilliantly as well in attacking midfield. Watch out for Adam Lewis though. Made his u23 debut a couple of days ago and much is expected of him over the next 6-18 months.

Ejaria really should be making the bench though. He turns 21 this year and we have more to gain from playing him for 10 minutes here and there, than from giving Milner those minutes. Woodburn isn't too small, he's just young. After the furore around his goal against Leeds, it is important we make sure he stays grounded. Last thing we want is another teenager who thinks he's a big time Charlie (ie, Sterling) .

{Ed001's Note - Milner gets on the bench because he can cover multiple positions, both in midfield and defence. Ejaria can't do that, so it then limits the options available if there are injuries.}

2.) 30 Jan 2018 13:51:42
Ejaria can cover DM, CM, AM and LM though Ed. No denying he can't play RB or LB like Milner can, but although Milner may be able to play in multiple positions, he can't play any of them (except maybe RM) to a Premier League standard.

Why not use Arnold off the bench in place of Milner? He can play every position Milner can play, and to a better standard. Yet for some reason, Klopp always turns to Milner 😣 Arnold even takes penalties and set pieces better than Milner does!

{Ed001's Note - not from what I have seen of him he can't. He does not look to have the ability to play anywhere but central midfield for me, well attacking mid.}

3.) 30 Jan 2018 14:15:46
That is definitely where he is best Ed. He looked a little bit lacking in terms of discipline when i saw him play a holding role. No more so than James Milner though! Looks like he's going on loan anyway so I hope he has a good 4 months at Sunderland!

10 Jan 2018 00:50:51
Im para phrasing here but danny murphy has basically said that keita is another jordan henderson and adds no creativity or power as he puts it to midfield.

I have limited experience of keita but from what i have seen he is nothing like henderson, my question really is what exactly will keita bring to the team and is murphy correct in his assessment.

Its a coming

1.) 10 Jan 2018 01:09:12
Danny Murphy is far from the brightest, to be honest. It is clear that he has never actually seen Keita play before because Henderson and Keita have very different styles.

Henderson is about breaking up play, pressing with regularity whether it is the 5th minute or 90th. He is also a decent passer of the ball, although I do agree that often his passes go backwards or sideways (Usually due to a lack of options but at times he does seem to hesitate on the ball and by then the chance to play the ball has gone. )

Keita is very capable on the ball, from what I have seen dribbling whether in tight spaces or open ones are his main strength. Keita is a difficult player to get off the ball, he can wriggle away from mounting pressure and use his pace to leave you in the dirt. He is hard working too, but from what I have seen his passing is lacking. He tends to play the short or simple pass, he never looks to play long passes or creative ones unless he has no other options, and, when he does, the pass is often overhit. I have watched a fair bit of German football and these are just a few things I have noticed. Keita is a very good player with the potential to be a main stay in the team for years to come. However, there are areas of his game he needs to work on and, with Klopp at the helm, I suspect you will see improvements over time.

Oh, also, as has become apparent this season, Keita seems to have lost his more competitive edge in matches. He does not resemble the man of last season who had a very serious case for being one of the top players in Germany. This year Keita looks disinterested, doesn't put a great deal of effort when tracking back to his position. I suspect this is because his head is already at Liverpool and he does not want to be in RBL. Not the best mentality but it is just my suspicion and not actual fact.

I hope this helps, I am lucky to watch a fair bit of German football and thought I would share my opinion on the two. As I said, Keita and Henderson are nothing alike and Danny Murphy needs to actually do his homework rather than spout absolute nonsense.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 01:17:24
Murphy is talking absolute bollocks. Keita will be the main "driver" of our midfield, picking up the ball from deep. He will be relied upon to be our main creative outlet from midfield whilst also contributing to defence, pressing of opposition etc. Keita is very very talented with an energy that perhaps can match that of Ngolo Kante. Ignore Murphy, he is the complete opposite to what Henderson has sadly become for us, Keita is a dynamo with the ability to play incisive one touch football or score from 30+ yards. Keita will be, and already is to some extent, special.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 01:34:27
He is the engine that drives the machine much like Kante.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 01:58:10
Are u serius lad? U listen to that AH? He's worse than Trump

U can find analysis of Keita's game on Youtube. There's one worth watching. After reading and watching several analysis I can conclude that he's the player we are missing in our midfield. He has a great engine, can carry the ball, likes to dribble and waltz through the midfield and if there's no better option he continues and attacks the defence, makes space for a shot and usually ends up scoring from the edge of the box. It doesn't work everytime as u can imagine.

He uses his dribbling quality and speed to that (little bit like Mane but better in terms of dribbling) . The other thing he does frequently is through balls, he always tries them and more often than not succeeds (prefers short passes so can't judge him on long passes) . He also intercepts very well as he has the ability to read the plays and also uses his speed to do that. Tackles when needed but can be reckless at times (like Dele Ali) . Not sure if I can judge his defensive work like getting back in time during opposition attacks, defending set pieces, following instructions.

Anyway, he's not a CDM neither an AM. He's really box to box with creativity, assists and goals in him. So, he's exactly the player we are missing in midfield as Can, Henderson and Gini aren't good enough or have zero creativity against EUROLINES/

Hope that helps.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 03:09:20
Danny never was the brightest.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 03:22:10
The only assessment here to be made is of Danny Murphy's mental state. Even a YouTube highlight reel will show Keita is nothing like Henderson in style of play. Keita is pacy, energetic and drives the ball from midfield to attack in no time at all. He is everything Hendo should have been.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 03:28:05
Murphy is a pundit who used to play football but has little to no knowledge of the game as a whole and who is paid to make statements that stir debate - take his guff with a pinch of salt.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 08:43:14
Thanks lads, i suspected he was sprouting for click bait. I too think keita can be something special with the right guidance. Not quite a gerrard replacement but gerrardesque in terms of box to box ability. Hopefully he regains his drive when he joins in the summer.

9.) 10 Jan 2018 08:48:26
I'm not an expert on football. I don't know how anywhere near as much as most people. But one thing I can tell you for certain - Danny Murphy as a pundit is a waste of oxygen, a man who spouts pseudo-controversial nonsense because he knows it will get him and his publications mentions and that he has absolutely nothing of greater value to add.

10.) 10 Jan 2018 09:16:10
My God listen to you all. He had an opinion and its the wrong one, but he's a good pundit, is actually very sharp and knowledgable, and had a cracking career here, we cluld definitely do with him now as he's twice the player can is. Show a little respect.

11.) 10 Jan 2018 09:58:05
Murphy clearly doesn’t watch any football outside of the premier league.

12.) 10 Jan 2018 11:08:08
"Keita isn't as creative as Mascherano"
"Keita is like Henderson"
"Liverpool need a 20+ goal striker" (ignores Salah's 17 goal tally)

He has lost the plot.

13.) 10 Jan 2018 11:10:16
ChampMan it's not just one bad opinion but three, and they are all baffling.

14.) 10 Jan 2018 12:25:25
From what I've seen which is admittedly limited, he's been nothing special to watch, being rather badly disciplined and hasn't shone in their team. That is purely what i've seen of the 5 or 6 games I've tuned into.

Is he actually as good as everyone on here seems to think? Honest question as I haven't watched him week in week out. Anyone on here watch the Bundesliga regularly?

15.) 10 Jan 2018 15:01:04
DeanW, I can gurantee you that Keita is special. He is much better than our current midfield options. Keita had the likes of Barca, Arsenal, Bayern all interested in his signature. Whilst this season he has been rash and not quite hit the performances of last year (which was a very high bar anyway) he is still young, cleanly doesn't want to be at Leipzig (which is not an excuse) and to be honest still has put in some great games this season. In short, I wouldn't worry.

{Ed025's Note - hes quality mate..

16.) 10 Jan 2018 15:29:23
Nice! Thanks for the reply tsteen!

24 Apr 2017 10:54:08
With the papers now saying real will target coutinho to replace modric how likely are we to keep hold of him this summer especially with Barcelona also waiting in the wings.

I doubt he will stay especially if we miss out on top 4 which is a real possibility if the players do not wake up and smell the opportunity in front of them. They should be super focussed and switched on at this stage of the season considering the prize at the end of it.

No doubt you are all as frustrated as me at the result yesterday but realistically what could klopp have done about it. Aside from those that started who else could he have brought in aside from the kids.

The only thing i could queation is If either of our centre backs were not 100% he maybe should have considered Gomez instead of playing injured defenders. But if you go out on the field you are able to play to even that's not an excuse.

Its a coming

1.) 24 Apr 2017 12:39:15
The 'papers' and you clearly haven't seen Modric or Real play for some time. He hasn't played as an attacking midfielder or a winger, the two areas Coutinho plays, since 2010. If Real want him, he'd be replacing James Rodriguez, Bale or Isco - not Modric.

2.) 24 Apr 2017 15:20:16
Well if they are selling and modric and replacing him with coutinho then maybe there happy with casmerio and kross in the centre and will add a new number 10.

Or thag coutinho could play alsongside one of them like everyone on here has suggested. (Playing in our cm)

{Ed002's Note - People need to get out of the mindset of like-for-like replacements.}

I hear that kane is appealing to the womens hockey assoc for a goal scored by alex danson in the commonwealth games bronze medal match. Im confident he will be successful!

13 Apr 2018 13:20:50
I have seen comments regarding not wanting to face roma now etc. my thoughts are if you win the champions league you are the best team in the comp. So it doesn't matter who we face, if we are good enough we will win and we have to give this team credit. To get to the semi final is no mean feat and this is a very good team.

I won't make any predictions as im becoming superstitious in my old age.

Its a coming

1.) 13 Apr 2018 14:04:59
You don't have to be best to win the comp.

23 Jan 2018 09:08:06
That result was inevitable, i did point out last week that we needed to replace coutinho's creativity in the middle or we would struggle against teams that park the bus. Everyone was on a high after the city game and dismissed it. This will continue unfortunately as out midfield players are very limited.

We also can not do anything about it until maybe after the world cup when players become available. Just have to knuckle down for a bumpy second half of the season.

Its a coming

1.) 23 Jan 2018 09:11:06
Agreed. I said the same but someone got on their high horse about how we should use kids and have enough.

2.) 23 Jan 2018 09:16:02
They’ve had enough time to plan for coutinho leaving. There is not a valid excuse given the time they’ve had to not replace coutinho with a decent passer at least.

It could well cost us top 4, which will make keeping salah difficult unless he has a bad second half to the season.

3.) 23 Jan 2018 09:18:00
Things that annoyed me last night:
1) No players on the post for a corner 😔
2) Both teams were too predictable but we looked clueless and they looked organised.
3) Klopp’s inability to change the game and pose a different threat to Swansea.

I’ve no problem with Karius, he had little chance with the goal. I’ve no problem with Lallana, he’s coming back from a long-term injury. I don’t care who is captain, it doesn’t give the other players an excuse.

4.) 23 Jan 2018 09:24:07
What does it say to the players on long term contracts that Can is captain Ron? That being said there isn’t many candidates for captain at the moment.

5.) 23 Jan 2018 09:31:51
Klopp seems to like to rotate the captains armband when Hendo is out. If it was Can every week I agree with you. Migs was captain not long ago now he’s been publically told he’s not a starter for the rest of the season.
I don’t think the players get too hung up about it.

6.) 23 Jan 2018 09:41:07
Spot on, Ron. The whole team was poor and this by the way, has NOTHING to do with Cou leaving or him not being replaced. Cou played in the dross games at Spurs, WBA, Burnley we played this season too so that rhetoric or talking point needs to be put to bed. It would not have mattered who played, if the whole team showed a lack of calmness, lucidity and composure in their build up play, we would not have won. The Cou thing needs to stop being used as a talking point cos we get better results w/ o him than w/ him or does that suddenly no longer count?

7.) 23 Jan 2018 09:46:08
To be fair Ron I don’t think klopp had too many options to change the game. Our bench was the weakest I’ve seen it in a long time. Solanke is young and a little short of confidence, Ings just coming back after 2 years out, Lallana is still getting fitness back. We still need strengthening on our forward line, I would get rid of Ings and sturridge and bring 1 player in. We also hardly ever seem dangerous at set pieces - we need someone that can put the ball into the right areas consistently as we will struggle in open play against these type of teams. I think if we did that we would create more chances than just having a creative player that could be hounded out of the game.

8.) 23 Jan 2018 10:26:49
Swish, why get rid of Origi if you have no options on the bench? Origi offered something different, a physical presence who could hold the ball up, an arial presence and pace in behind. Origi could bully defenders like he did against Dortmund. He could also score screamers from outside the box.
Our squad is too one dimensional.

9.) 23 Jan 2018 10:53:29
Ron, agree ther origi was a good option from the bench. I guess with Solanke coming on board he may have been given assurances about being part of the first team squad. Our dithering on sturridge seems to have cost us again. Would love to see origi back.

14 Jan 2018 20:06:35
Big big shout out to our match winner ed01 and his Christmas lights which are not coming down until after the champions league final. 😉.

Its a coming

{Ed001's Note - they are staying up until the day we lose, so hopefully they will never come down ever.}

1.) 14 Jan 2018 20:16:35
Week on Monday Ed001. Swansea away is most defiantly a banana skin : (.

{Ed001's Note - I hope not.}

2.) 14 Jan 2018 20:42:43
Ed001 how great was firmino today mate? can't wait until he learns how to finish! ( 17 goals and counting) one of his best displays in a Liverpool shirt imo.

{Ed001's Note - obviously it was a fluke all 17 times ;-)

3.) 14 Jan 2018 20:53:36
such a calm and cool chip. Bobby makes us tick up front, I'd be signing him long term too. Such a wonderful player.

4.) 14 Jan 2018 21:35:38
I hope not many people appreciate bobbys efforts every game because we need him forever. Anyone who understands football will see what he does! I watched the game with 2 curt fans in a pub, sadly bit in the city anymore so can’t go but they didn’t get begat he does, which is his secret weapon! He’s the best in world at what he does! World class.

5.) 14 Jan 2018 20:57:18
In Ed01's prematch preview, Ed018 predicted 4-4. I thought, "what's s/ he thinking? ", then Ilkay scored for 4-3 and I was wondering if s/ he was a prophet.
Thank God we held on for the win. Onwards and Upwards.

{Ed018's Note - I had a hunch it was gonna be a shootout. Thought at first I had it right with Aguero’s header at the end of the match}

6.) 15 Jan 2018 03:16:19
Wait til he scores 1 that changes the outcome of a game, it's ok scoring the 4th in a 4-0 win. Oh! 🤔 my bad. 🤣.

13 Jan 2018 12:17:19
I can't quite make my mind up how to feel about the game on sunday. One minute i feel we have enough to beat city and get revenge for the 5-0.

But then i remember we sold our most creative player and salah our best player will most likely not be 100% fit. My heart says we can win but my head says city will be too strong on this occasion.

Plus the effect of losing such an influential and like player from the dressing room might have a temporary effect on morale and confidence in the side.

All i want is ed1 to not forget to switch on his xmas lights and every lfc fan in that stadium to make their voices heard no matter what.

Its a coming

{Ed025's Note - my view is that liverpool will win IAC, with them playing midweek they will not be as fresh as they would like and even though they are excellent all these recent games will have taken their toll, after a cat and mouse first half liverpool will score through salah midway through the second half, city then chasing the game will get caught on the counter and mane will set up firmino for a tap in late on....they dont call me mystic ED for nothing..

1.) 13 Jan 2018 13:03:43
Yeah it is a good time to play them we have been on the beach and they played 2 games. I think we will win and we will go 100mph from the beginning. If it becomes cat and mouse I think we don't win.

2.) 13 Jan 2018 14:10:11
I’m expecting Salah and Mane to get a few corners so fully expecting VVD to continue his goal run with another header. Oh and a Salah hat-trick. 😏.

3.) 13 Jan 2018 12:53:12
Ed man how the hell are ya?

{Ed025's Note - hey barry, im good mate thanks, looking forward to the games at the weekend as we both have hard tasks, i think the reds have a better chance than us but you never know, hows you mate?..

4.) 13 Jan 2018 13:15:29
Haha you have me convinced mystic peg leg ed. 😆.

5.) 13 Jan 2018 14:30:13
3-1 to the mighty reds.

6.) 13 Jan 2018 17:35:30
Would be a brilliant weekend if both team's do well Ed.

{Ed025's Note - we are up against it barry but we could just nick a draw mate..

Wouldn't that be a risk though, yes we have ings and solanke but neither are pulling up trees and we would be stuck if one or more of our three remaining first team attackers were injured. This is of course moot if that top top player signs this window but i believe it when i see it as they say.

It would make sense convincing de vrij to sign a pre contract for the summer. Akanji is not quiet ready and very similar to vvd.

Plus we will need to look for a top class keeper and possibly another midfielder and attacking midfielder if we don't get one this window. So saving money getting a free but decent defender for the summer makes sense. Disclaimer: i know its not really free with signing on fees, agents fees etc.

Interesting to hear the abuse case dismissed again, so with rhians second case dismissed mid week that is three cases where no one has been made accountable. Kind of sets the precedent doesn't it, it says to the abusers just carry on because nothing will be done about it.

Kind of also makes you wonder whether these footballing associations are also inherently racist. Hmmmm.

Solanke is not even as good as origi imo and even he has been dire this season. He may improve, but i see why chelsea were holding him back from the first team now. He is just not ready yet. I honestly see more potential in rhian brewster than solanke.

Hopefully he will knuckle down and prove me completely wrong.

Ed you're reviews are getting better and better like an ageing wine, that review was excellent, loved the cash money $terling line 😂.

I just liked how we didn't have to really get out of second gear to beat the so called best team in the world for the third time this season.

And like you ed, i think klopp has really matured since he has been here and is becoming a really top notch coach. I don't think he gets enough credit for what he has done/ is doing at this club.

On a bright note, kanes plea to the fa got him his goal, well done that man😂 shame it will be no use to him though.
