Question for Ed02 if you have the time : As mentioned in the past and again on the most recent (very much appreciated) Shaarkpod, you suggested that Barcelona were looking to reach an agreement over Coutinho by the end of November. Appreciate that it is about half an hour into December but has there been any indication reach you that they were getting close to their goal? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool arevaware where they stand but I am not aware of any agreement.}

I am not sure that Liverpool should be working with whatever Barcelona want, and on their terms,
he is our player, we hold all the cards, play it tough, I don't like the way Barcelona have gone about their pursiut of Couts, yes he wants to go, stay tough, he goes when we say so, and at a price that we set .

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have done nothing wrong whatsoever - it is Liverpool who have repeated acted illegally in chasing players. You views on the transfer process are arrogant. If Liverpool do not wish to sell the player then all they have to do is say he is not for sale and they can keep another player who really doesn't want to be at the club.}

wish we conclude this asap.
unnecessary head ache brought on my the club.

Ed 02 is right.

Cheers.

Hey Ed002, what is the likely hood of Pipco going in January. Does not make much sense if he cannot play in the Champions League for Barcelona or is that an irrelevant point. Would an agreement be put in place, but kept under wraps until Liverpool secure a replacement for the summer. Obviously with the Neymar-Dembele deal, Barcelona paid over the odds because clubs knew they had this huge amount of cash they were sitting on. Hopefully the club do not put themselves in a similar position and pay over odds for a player. Cheers Ed have a great weekend.

{Ed002's Note - I have no way to sensibly measure liklihood I am afraid Harry. Barcelona have been speaking to Liverpool and Kia has been involved as well. They wanted agreement by yesterday for reason I previously explained. Now Barcelona will likely step back and consider their options. I am not sure about why you have Neymar mentioned but yes they paid a lot for Dembele. The Champions League is of no relevance as Barcelona are already pushing to move players on in January - but it is a difficult time. Real Madrid are also trying to get business done for January but are encountering difficulties themselves. Again PSG are looking to move players on in January of have commited sales by June 30. All of these are are looking to sell expensive players and RM and Barcelona open to including players in part exchange.}

Cheers, thanks for the response. I should have been more clear about the Neymar mention, I was bringing it that if Barcelona had secured Dembele earlier or prior to the Neymar figure being released they could have potentially got him for cheaper. Have great weekend!

{Ed002's Note - The price for Neymar was fixed and known far, far in advance.}

Ed2: Another player who don't want to be there (Coutinho I presume you refer too) . Who or how many else are we talking about?

{Ed002's Note - There are players at Liverpool who are not happy with their lot and those looking to see what the future will hold elsewhere. Fundamentally it is no different from other clubs.}

The rights or wrongs of the way the player / agent handled it Pipco wanted to leave. Keeping him could quite easily have had a serious impact on team morale as a whole. Great player with unfulfilled potential still but that said I think I'm glad he has gone - we aren't short of midfield cover and the damage he may have caused by staying could have been significant (As an aside, I'd say Mane might very well be the next cab off the rank given his apparent 'attitude' over the last 4 - 6 weeks) .

Given the combination of Klopp's preferred set-up and Sturridge's injury record and the lack of playing time he is getting I don't think that the 2016 - 2017 Sturridge is a loss. Terrible shame as, when fully fit, he is an exceptional player.

Given the state of the defence and it's capacity to conjure up a couple of 'lapses' per game I think the signing may well help. That said, from what I've seen of VvD I'm not 100% convinced he makes it into the 'Messiah' category yet. Hopefully Klopp gets the best out of him - he does seem to have potential (as a natural leader if nothing else) although if it was me I'd play him with Klavan until such times as Gomez is deemed ready. Klavan might not be eye catching but and might not be the fastest thing in the world on two legs but he does seem to be able to defend.

So on balance, I'd say we probably went 2 steps forward - potential improvement to the weakest area (defence) and 1 step backwards -loss most creative midfielder (would have been 2 steps backwards if his attitude this past year or so had not been what it was) .

As has been said, the results of the window won't be known for a while yet and depends upon Ejaira and Wilson building up experience and oh yeah, Migs not playing for us again :-)

Thanks for the reply. With us seemingly mounting a reasonable challenge for a CL spot for next season I was wondering if the plans had been refined to accelerate the learning curve for the youngsters. I'll just have to be patient and wait for January I guess!

J6F1

{Ed002's Note - No, plans would not have changed with respect to the youngsters.}

Can I ask the Eds if there is any update on players the club might be seeking to move on (or loan) in January? We still have a large squad and was wondering - other than the obvious Sakho - if there is anybody that the club would like to see leave in January? I know that Klopp has spoken about his general desire to keep youngsters at the club to learn the 'Liverpool way' that he wishes us to play but was wondering if there are any exceptions that may gain (playing time) from being shipped out to teams who play a similar style to us?

J6F1

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing more than has previously explained at this time.}

For his age and inexperience he was astounding. He's what 19? Playing against one of the best footballing teams in recent years and he gives a performance like that - we can't really expect any more from the lad!

He's not alone in making mistakes but the important thing is that he is learning from them - he is just a kiddie.

Give him time and show him a bit of patience - he has the potential to be phenomenal.

You can prove anything with stats - for me it's more the confidence thing. When I was a kid back in the 70's and then through the 80's if we ever went 2 or 3 goals up it was 'Thanks for coming and see you next time'. This past couple of years it is a case of 2 or 3 up . let's hope they don't score one or we are in trouble.

Impressive Ed02 - after all the stuff you guys have been put through that one actually made me laugh out loud. How you keep your patience is way, way beyond me - but thanks to you (and the other Eds for doing so) Special shout out for Ed025 too - the lad tries to get some banter going which is brilliant - shame that as an Evertonian the lad just isn't the sharpest tool in the box :-)

He'd be a great signing but also needs the time to develop. He's a kid with bags of talent and great potential but he needs the time (and freedom) to settle in, learn (which involves making mistakes) and mature into what he is capable of becoming without people getting on his back.
