Hi guys

Seeing the Pulisic to Chelski rumors, I’m surprised not to see ya mentioned in the same breath. Have we decided he’s not right for us or do you think we would ask the question before the move is a done deal?

Great player but I'm not sure how he'd fit into the squad, or how we could even afford him. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him at Liverpool, but I'm not surprised we're not mentioned as a potential destination.

2.) 17 Nov 2018 19:13:10
Unless the Sturridge, Origi and Solanke questions are answered (and the Wilson and Kent ones too, to a lesser extent), I don't see how LFC can make a move for him.

3.) 17 Nov 2018 21:49:58
We are linked with him all the time.

4.) 17 Nov 2018 22:58:16
Get him in, worry about how he fits after.

5.) 18 Nov 2018 05:27:51
ArAy I doubt we will wait for five players to exit before signing one lol, but I hear the sentiment. I think our next buy will be a Sturridge replacement, and fingers crossed we can get Bellotti or another out and out physical striker (no rumours, just my wish list lol)

6.) 18 Nov 2018 07:48:54
Well if we are apparently looking at the Barcelona reject with an attitude problem I’d rather have Pulisic any day. We are lacking creativity with our current system, Millie, Gini, Fab, and Hendo, don’t really offer that option. fekir (in the hole), Pulisic, Insigne, dropping Firm back and an alternative forward could be a way to look at it.

7.) 18 Nov 2018 08:55:01
I think with the new 'reserved' approach this season, the need for a creative number 10 is beginning to show.
I dunno if pulisic is that man though I don't know enough about him I thought he was a winger where we are Very strong.

8.) 18 Nov 2018 09:20:26
We’ve just give away 250k! We’re rich 👀.

9.) 18 Nov 2018 09:26:08
Klopping. I wasn't really talking about an exit for those 5 players, but rather just wondering what the " future plan" is for those 5, before others are brought in? We have players that can't even be loaned out, don't even make the bench and yet make a nice paycheck every week. But this is neither good for either the club or the player's career. Things have changed a lot under Klopp in terms of recruitment, but i still remember that summer we bought all those players with the Suarez money and we're still saddled with a few who are on our books but don't play for us.

10.) 18 Nov 2018 09:38:20
I wouldn’t mind a Dembele but I’d love a Pulisic please FSG!

11.) 18 Nov 2018 13:46:55
Dembele has had attitude issues since his Dortmund days and clearly, they have no subsided. If I had to pick, I would take Pulisic cos he can play any attacking position besides CF. He is the real deal, IMO and is a workaholic as well, everything Dembele is not.

Hi Guys, hope everyone is well and recovering from the weekend. I’m still struggling mentally with the result and physically with jet lag (Kiev is a long fking way from Singapore) . Watching the match and infact most of the end of the season there were a few things that seemed very obvious with gaps in the team and needs. DM, CB, AM, striker, Keeper.

Love the addition of a DM but don’t see him as a replacement for Can (as reported widely) but more as a combination of Hendo and Gini. I know there is a Twitter clamor to get rid of Hendo and while I’m not his biggest fan I do still think he has a place but I still struggle to see him as a captain on the pitch.

Would love Gomez to get a run post injury but I believe we do need a step up from Lovren/ Matip on the right side of CB. VVD has been great (I’d also make him capt) but the channel between TAA and Lovren was too easily exposed with one or other or both losing runners or over committing.

The addition of a creative player seems key to the way we play but I do also love Bobby in the #10 spot with a speedy striker in front of him and Salah and Mane either side. I wondered if we were looking at that as a potential solution, and if so who could fit the bill.

Finally keeper, I wasn’t that impressed by Allison when we played them but didn’t really watch enough of him in the season. I think we could do with a keeper that helps to launch quick attacks and is good with their feet but I was amazed by the number of goals we conceded by failing to clear the 2nd ball or by balls bouncing in the box. A commanding keeper would organize and give the defense security to commit. Jan Oblak would be my choice but think that he will be silly money.

See Chelsea after Dembele from celtic, is he not the type of player we should be looking at?!

1.) 31 Jan 2017 13:08:56
We have origi as our young promising striker. I see no benefit to buying someone who's played championship and Scottish footie. Talented site, but would like to see a more established striker come in for the money he'll likely cost.

2.) 31 Jan 2017 13:38:41
Agreed. It's time we got a true goalscoring striker in the Lewa, Auba or Kane ilk. Firmino is fantastic but lacks the height and physical strength to truly dominate the opposition box. Perhaps a better alternative just behind the striker in a nr 10 role.

3.) 31 Jan 2017 14:09:21
They'll just sit him on the bench and slow down his career anyways.

4.) 31 Jan 2017 14:43:54
They already have a very talented Batschuayi who is better than Dembele, who can`t get a game so what is the use of him going there, exactly?

5.) 31 Jan 2017 15:38:37
dwarfonaboat so what you saying is we need a target man? Look how well benteke worked out for us, I don't think so.

6.) 31 Jan 2017 16:39:47
Championship and Scottish footie?

What about Virgil van Dijk?

Championship is on par with the Dutch league.

7.) 31 Jan 2017 16:59:00
Dwarf's comment is hilarious. Says we shouldn't buy a striker like Dembele because 'It's time we got a true goalscoring striker in the Lewa, Auba or Kane ilk'. Ignoring that Lewa was from the polish league which is hardly better than Scotland, Auba was a reasonable striker but hardly destroying the league in France and Kane was a failing youth product who only got a chance because Spurs failed to sell him and needed someone to cover in the early Europa League games! All players whose clubs wouldn't have given them a shot at the big time if they had listened to Dwarf's advice.

Of course the other option is that he's talking about physical prescence, in which case a) We clearly don't use big target men well and b) Dembele is actually about the same size as Auba, so why one and not the other?

8.) 31 Jan 2017 19:07:39
Hjikle,

Nothing hilarious about his comments. He clearly means buying someone of their current quality so where they came from is irrelevant in this argument

Saw that Stoke were potentially in for Michy Batshuayi, looking back I seem to remember we had looked at him back in 2015. Would we look at him again?

1.) 01 Feb 2016 13:57:26
I love him as a player and have watched him consistently at OM (I`m an OM fan) . The boys is very talented and ticks all the boxes (pace, power, good in the air, shoots with both feet and a big game player unlike Lacazette) and can score goals BUT needs 4 chances to score a goal. he`s young and is still learning BUT he is a VERY good prospect.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 14:58:02
That's okay Redohio we currently need approx 16 chances to score a goal so by those stats he'd be a 400% improvement lol.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 17:03:50
Nice one, EB.

I'm not sure where he would fit in, if you look at the team at the moment they put in just as much effort in winning the ball back and defending as they do in attacking an moving off the ball. A quality player no doubt but I fear he has a similar defensive effort as Studge which would make him a potential weak link for the press.

If you look at the prodigious work rate Bobby has you can see why he has a preference for that type of player. to my mind only really Suarez showed the hunger to do the hard yards as well as the ability to be a true striker.

Really Istanbul. Suarez left to Barca, same with PipCo, and Sterling to Citeh and a pay jump of around 100k a week. arguably we were happy to get shot of Sterling at the time and to pocket 50m was big. it's a dream of many South American's to play for the big two in Spain so when they come knocking heads are very likely to be turned.

I'd be more concerned if we were struggling to attract the players we want rather than losing a few for a combined 270+m. its a sad reality but football is a business.

Why is it everyone is so accepting of Barca's behavior in these situations? Yes the player wants to go, yes his agent is doing a lot of the running, but seeing the constant leaks to the press and open discussions about signing him feels pretty objectionable.

I know we have not covered ourselves in glory in recent transfer windows but we have also been dragged through the coals for it, not least on these pages. Why is it that Barcelona and Real seem to be beyond reproach in relation The their behavior.

Jockjnr

{Ed002's Note - I don't know why you think the potential transfer of Coutinho has anything to do with Real Madrid. And nobody is aware of any wrongdoing by Barcelona. They are certainly one of the clubs that will utilise the press - that is unprofessional but not strictly against the rules. They met with Liverpool and made offers in the summer - and then again in London in November. Since then there have been meetings with the owners of the club and various others representating the player and Barcelona. All above board.}

Great opportunity to try the back 3 with Matip, Gomez, and VVD. wingbacks with options on both sides and a defensive midfielder dropping in to the triangle. Good flexibility and mobility as well as hopefully quick ball movement.

I know Hendo gets a lot of grief but we seem more balanced and dynamic without him in the team, do you think he will stay on or a replacement may be looked at?

There aren't many top keepers kicking around at the moment but I'd look to spend more on one of them than I would on a CB. The keeper should be constantly talking to the back line, organizing, dictating, and should act as a sweeper commanding their box. Shot stoppers are abundant but true leader keepers are not.

Not sure what Ward has to do to get in the team but assume Klipperty has seen something in training he doesn't like. Pickford would have been the one to go for in the summer, if only Klopp hadn't been so blind to the issues.

Jockjnr

{Ed001's Note - god no Pickford is not a good keeper, especially in the areas you are saying we want. He doesn't organise, talk to his backline, sweep up well nor does he deal with shots well - he just pushes them straight back out into danger rather than push them wide or out for a corner.}

I think the nitty gritty of transfers has eluded them up until this point, whether that's our inability to attract, the clubs reticence to pay (up until Nabby and VVD), and a basic lack of understanding around the complexity of transfer negotiations, I am not sure but it's certainly not good. I am sure klipperty has to take some responsibility for these issues as well but it seems we need to change the current process.

Commercially we are strong but we also need to make further inroads to the big growth markets in Asia and South Asia, our guys have done great in building revenue from traditional means but it's a massive untapped market.

The youth and loan systems have also been poor with players either not playing, not making the cut, or making poor loan decisions, again it seems no accountability exists for this a no real inroads to build networks like Chealsea have with partner clubs.

Finally our "intra-club" relations are poor with other clubs reticent to do business with us and our reputation being at a pretty low ebb.
