Hi eds I read something in the Italian media in the last day or so that AC Milan are now looking at taking Balotelli permanently at the end of the season, any truth in this? Can't see it myself after the season he's had (although I think he's improved marginally in recent games) If not Milan where is the most likely destination for the lad?

JoeAllen

{Ed002's Note - Milan remains the most likely destination although there have been enquiries from Turkey and from China. Milan may buy him to sell him on.}

1.) 25 Apr 2016 12:34:21
Thanks for the reply and probably not something that can easily be said or guessed but any idea what the price would be or the price that Liverpool are holding out for (or is it just a case of wanting him gone at any price given his comments about not wanting to return/ his Premier League form)?

{Ed002's Note - I really want to avoid finances right now Joe.}

2.) 25 Apr 2016 12:54:24
Okay no worries sorry for the trouble ed002 and thanks again for the reply.

3.) 26 Apr 2016 08:11:39
Can I just ask, if Milan feel they can buy him and sell him on for a profit, then couldn't Liverpool just sell him directly to whoever the other buyer is for the higher price?

{Ed002's Note - Or get stuck with him if the sale doesn't go through? Sure.}

4.) 26 Apr 2016 09:02:07
Oh god, no. Okay never mind, let's just take the half bottle of Chianti and 2 slices of pizza capricciosa on offer and be glad of it. It's a good deal for all concerned. :)

5.) 26 Apr 2016 09:16:21
Personally think it will be Milan then straight to turkey for 6 months followed by a loan followed by China next year, his career is going down the proverbial toilet.

6.) 26 Apr 2016 18:35:02
It is safe to assume AC will be up to their usual shenanigans this summer. With them not agreeing a deal until we give them Mario Balotelli for free and pay nearly all of his wages until next summer.

21 Apr 2016 12:20:26
I haven't asked any questions regarding our ins and outs recently but how likely is it that Alberto Moreno will be off out of the Mersey in the summer guys, thanks for any responses in advance.

JoeAllen

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer likelihood but Liverpool has looked at a couple of left backs - but I am not aware of any interest in Moreno right now.}

24 Mar 2016 14:26:22
Hey eds got a quickie for you i saw a report or two some time back that young ryan kent might be off out on loan again soon (to the Blades I think) - gone quiet but any truth in this piece of gossip?

JoeAllen

{Ed001's Note - he is available for another loan but I heard it was Coventry interested in taking him back. That could be wrong thoughas loans are difficult to find out about.}

15 Mar 2016 10:24:26
Not sure if this has been answered already or not but was/ is there any genuine interest from us in Charlton's Ademola Lookman? I remember hearing through the grapevine of a rumour we and some other PL sides were interested but I don't know anything about him.

JoeAllen

14 Mar 2016 15:13:00
Hey eds, probably been asked a lot but how likely is it that my hero Joe will be off in the summer? Really don't want to see him go but think it's probably going to happen.

JoeAllen

{Ed001's Note - the club are open to selling him, how likely anyone is to buy him is difficult to ascertain, but recent performances have increased the chances of him leaving.}

1.) 14 Mar 2016 15:16:15
Thanks for the reply bud, enjoy the game on Thursday.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed. I already have the day planned out as a complete repeat of last Thursday just to make sure....

2.) 14 Mar 2016 15:25:54
Out of interest what are your thoughts on Allen? Not a £15m player or whatever BR paid for him but I think he's been solid for us pretty much since he joined and has largely been used as a scapegoat by some of our fans.

{Ed001's Note - he is ok, but his wages are too high for the role he performs in our team. It would be better for everyone if he moved on and got himself regular football.}

3.) 14 Mar 2016 15:30:11
Alright. Cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

4.) 14 Mar 2016 16:29:00
What sort of wage would he be on?

{Ed001's Note - first team regular level.}

5.) 14 Mar 2016 16:35:46
Allens decent but lacks the speed of thought and movement to be good enough also his shooting is poor very rarely hit at a good trajectory.

6.) 14 Mar 2016 18:10:50
Joe is a good player but i think we have youngsters coming through that can do the same job on less money at this stage and have the potential under Klopp to develop into better players. Namely Stewart and Chirvella.

7.) 14 Mar 2016 19:06:24
He has shown improvement under Klopp - I think we would mostly agree on that, but I am not sure how he fits in with current midfielders and incoming/ possible targets. I think he will be moved on and wish him the best if he does, another case of it just didn't work out.

8.) 14 Mar 2016 20:19:43
Tim, I know he is young but whenever I've watched Chirivella for either the senior team or the youth team I haven't been overly impressed. Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

9.) 14 Mar 2016 20:35:58
He has shown improvement, but I'm pretty sure he's only started against Exeter, maybe once in Europe. He normally comes in against tired players as the third centre mid, is he good enough to play in a midfield two if needed?

10.) 14 Mar 2016 20:41:09
I think he will Joe. He has got technique and vision and once he has developed strength he will improve more. Everything is there with him and I believe he is under the right manager to push on. This applies to Stewert too.

11.) 14 Mar 2016 20:46:18
He started against a very strong West Ham team and played 100 mins and we were very good in that game. He played with Stewert and they dominated the midfield.

12.) 14 Mar 2016 21:35:23
Don't really need Joe Pirlo now that we have Kev Stiles and Pedro Alonso coming through and ready to play. Not to mention Cameron Pogba.

13.) 14 Mar 2016 22:37:50
Tim I was going to say he played well in the West Ham game so hopefully more of that instead of the performance I saw from him against United's U21s 😀.

14.) 15 Mar 2016 09:03:34
For once I agree, Chirivella looks like a poor mans jay spearing just less john watson looking, One good half of football does make him mustard and he is nothing compared to his international compatriot the speedy spaniard sergio gomez who is 16.Anyway I would say that brannagan is ahead of young chirio in the pecking. If he gets in the starting eleven again this year I may just have to cry a river over carlisle.

{Ed001's Note - really? I like Chirivella.}

15.) 15 Mar 2016 09:12:54
just curious as to what you think his best attributes are ed? or what he offers a team?

{Ed001's Note - range of passing, vision, workrate, positional sense, defensive responsibility, willingness to learn, off the top of my head.}

16.) 15 Mar 2016 09:21:11
Thanks for the reply ed I, along with my my fellow reds, will be hoping to see this for the first team in the future, he's tied down to a new contract so will have the time to prove himself, cheers chap.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

17.) 15 Mar 2016 10:33:13
He just poor man version of iniesta.

{Ed001's Note - Chirivella? He is absolutely nothing like Iniesta in any way, shape or form. There is no comparison other than their nationalities. Iniesta is an attacking midfielder, Chirivella a defensive one. How on earth did you come up with that ludicrous comment?}

18.) 15 Mar 2016 11:35:51
Sorry but Allen is badly awful always has been yes he's better unr3r klopp but still not Liverpool level. and are youth who have had a go have been way better than Joe Allen by miles.

19.) 15 Mar 2016 11:38:36
Me too see nth special about chivirella. Too lightweight and did nth great. Keep things simple too. Doesn't seem to be aggressive enough. I'm more impress with Brannagan.

20.) 15 Mar 2016 12:24:20
Hi eds, i mean joe pirlo is poor man's iniesta.

21.) 15 Mar 2016 13:31:09
Dog almighty, some of you write like you've got 10 thumbs.

It's very harsh to criticize Chirivella at this stage of his development, he's very young. Klopp clearly sees potential in him. He's the kind of player that does the simple things well and can go unnoticed, but knits a team together on the field. Maybe one who could benefit form a loan next season or the following season.

Joe Allen is also a very different sort of player to Iniesta. It is pointless to insist on making such a comparison. He's a good lad, but expensive for a squad player, as Ed said. Much like Benteke or Skerts, they may have their uses at times, but the wages they are on should be reserved for players in the starting rotation.

{Ed001's Note - it is pointless, some people are just living in a bizarre world, Allen is about as similar in style to Iniesta as he is in style to Pepe Reina!}

22.) 15 Mar 2016 14:03:48
Im not jon flanagan I don't have ten thumbs, cheeky mister.

23.) 15 Mar 2016 14:13:25
It's just laziness. Should we just write Rakitic and Coutinho in the same sentence to get some clicks? It serves no purpose to make these comparisons between such different players. Save it for players who can actually be described as even sort of similar please, lads.

Although, now you mention it. Reina is definitely a poor man's Rooney, who is in turn a poor man's Hulk, who is a rich man's Bale. Erm, yeah. I'm confused too.

24.) 15 Mar 2016 15:05:04
Not you Zoom, buddy.
I'm just struggling to get the words 'badly awful' into a sentence. ;)

25.) 15 Mar 2016 16:17:34
I guess Jurgen disagrees with the posters who don't rate Chirivella.

the Brazilian Phil not in the team yesterday therefore he is either in talks with Barcelona or in talks with the English FA over the vacant position.

JoeAllen

1.) 14 Jul 2016 12:53:32
Or he's only been training 3 days before then.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 13:36:02
Or just getting up to speed with the rest of the team?

3.) 14 Jul 2016 14:42:42
Or he's just winding you up.

4.) 14 Jul 2016 14:57:41
Nice try wee Joe, but you're not getting a shot at the left wing ;)

18 Jun 2016 20:04:30
I just read a ridiculous article on This is Anfield, complete balderdash, gibberish from one Sachin Nakrani, suggesting that our old #15 and homecoming queen Danny Sturridge didn't receive as much love from our fans because of his skin pigmentation (in this case black) .

The first point I dispute is in fact that Donald Sturridge does not receive much love from the Liverpool fans. I for one am full of adoration for Daniel and am very grateful to him for his goals for the club.

He's a real Vulture (reportedly played by Hollywood bigshot Michael Keaton) inside the box, puts real Venom into his shots, in fact the user eddiebrock99 I was wondering if you'd know anything about this (whether it's to do with the symbiote or not) . Honestly though he causes Carnage inside the box and is always (Green) Gobbling his chances up.

But really to suggest that Tom Holland is not loved by the fans because of his skin colour is the dumbest thing I ever did read for goodness sake: how do you explain the cult hero status of players such as Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure and the most obvious one El Hadji Diouf? It really is beggars belief that these editors on TIA allowed this article, must be struggling for ideas or some such.

JoeAllen

1.) 18 Jun 2016 20:49:54
Haha, I haven't seen the article, but I'll be sure not to give it a hit now.

2.) 18 Jun 2016 22:03:28
You miss the point completely, which isn't surprising given the topic. He's talking about unconscious bias. But I do find the argument using sturridge specifically difficult tho. Of had more time woyld look more deep into it.

3.) 18 Jun 2016 22:51:37
Faithinworks, it is total BS to suggest Liverpool fans have a bias against black players. John Barnes is regarded by myself and many others as probably the second best player in the clubs history after Dalglish.

Anyone claiming Sturridge is under appreciated due to pigmentation is clutching at straws, and trying to pull a non-existent race card.

I suppose we also hate Can for being Muslim?

Or Kolo, Clyne, Sakho, Ibe, Benteke, Ojo and Origi for being black?

Don't even point that finger at English football because we are the least racist country on the planet, and I won't hear it. Total BS.

I am quite frankly disgusted and offended that such an accusation has been levelled at Liverpool fans. Especially when a good majority of our fans reside on other continents including Africa, Asia and South America (where large portions of the population are darker skinned) .

That article isn't worth the time it took to write.

4.) 19 Jun 2016 01:16:19
I was going to stay out of this argument but to claim this is the least racist country on the planet is incorrect. However, with regard to sturridge the unconscious bias argument may have some credence for some sections of the fanbase but on the whole i would say that it is not a factor for the majority.

5.) 19 Jun 2016 06:25:48
MK -he ain't talking about hate. The research is clear that unconscious bias exists. Its natural, but as I said I struggle to see how it applies to sturridge. Altho his connection to management positions is somwthing worth looking into further. And it's a debate that is better served by leaving the hyperbole to the side.

6.) 19 Jun 2016 09:11:56
Before Barnes signed for us he used to get monkey noises aimed at him at Anfield bananas where thrown on the pitch once. ( I defo remember that) . Don't think it's a colour thing with Sturridge why he has fans so split.

7.) 19 Jun 2016 10:25:42
Oh boy my Studgey senses are tingling anyway must swing as I've got some Uncle Ben's in the microwave and my aunt may be hungry.

8.) 19 Jun 2016 10:30:06
What a load of old tosh.

9.) 19 Jun 2016 10:42:51
I'm sorry but to think that this country is the least racist is extremely naive! I can tell you first hand that it definitely does exist. Consciously and unconsciously! Also, in many live games in this country there is racial slurs, insults and names called out to black and mixed race players when something goes wrong in a game from the stands. I don't know about this Danny S situation but it wouldn't surprise me if racism has been involved. Remember Rio Ferdinand getting racist tweets after his wife died? The John Barnes/ bananas on the pitch example said earlier is also relevant. All that has changed is the medias ability to cover such things up.

10.) 19 Jun 2016 10:47:10
England not racist?
I have worked in most of the major European countries and England is probably the most racist if I'm honest.

11.) 19 Jun 2016 10:49:11
Scousejohn that was at goodison, but at the time of his signing which was around 86 I think most grounds in England were full of bigots and there was a lot of negativity around diggers signing but he was the ground breaking player of his generation and more or less single handedly change people's opinions of black players in the game, rio ferdinand was a Liverpool supporter simple because John Barnes played for us. But let's be clear, there was a lot of negativity around him signing from Liverpool supporters although having said that there wasn't a lot of negativity towards howie gayle but maybe that's because he was a local lad I don't know.

With regards to the banana throwing incident it was definitely at goodison because I was there and witnessed it first hand.

Sturridge doesn't receive " as much love from the fans " because he's black is complete nonsense, he's shown no connection to the supporters whatsoever since he signed and is metaphorically kept at arms length by the fans in the same way Michael Owen was, not because of his skin colour be because he hasn't t immersed himself in the club and it's fans just as Owen didn't which was why we didn't take to him and his subsequent switch to Madrid for peanuts and then man United shows we were correct to do so ( or are we anti Welsh now? ) . This country is now a PC nightmare with people looking for something which isn't there. People need to get a grip.

12.) 19 Jun 2016 13:07:17
Spot on Waro. Glad I got to read it before the usual trolls you attract got the thread deleted. Brilliant post though buddy. English Football has come a long way since the 80's.

And just to clarify, I did not say that English football didn't still suffer from racism. It does. But across every league on the planet, it is definitely up there with the most ethnically diverse and accepting leagues there are.

If you look at the national sides and even the league football for Italy, Spain, Greece, Russia, Poland etc it is very much dominated by white European players. Because opportunities in those countries are still limited if you are of a certain ethnic heritage.

The likes of England, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium are light years ahead in terms of racial acceptance. I am proud of that, which is why I completely refute the accusation that Sturridge is a victim of racism from Liverpool fans. It is total nonsense, and I don't care how much I upset the PC brigade.

13.) 19 Jun 2016 14:45:24
My sentiments exactly MK! I'm sure there'll be someone waiting to attack your post though, probably best to ignore the next set of replys (should the thread not be deleted of course)

14.) 19 Jun 2016 00:46:48
I know he doesn't heal as quick as a lizard but he is an electro player with a really spider sense for where the goal is our friendly neighbourhood sturridge its clear to see knows with great power comes great responsibility and there's no mysterio in knowing us fans love him even if he has the same skin colour as uncle Ben the lad is simply a kingpin or daredevil.

I say it's a marvel however the two most common adjectives used to describe our studge is amazing and spectacular Not to mention there are certainly no cobwebs in his brain as I would go as far as to say he has genius level intellect unlike a heartedly rhino but closer to an octopus like old Paul if he were a doctor so to speak. I love sturridge so much in fact if he requested I would give him an mj before every game and If sturridge were to ever leave I would have to see an agony aunt may be.

15.) 19 Jun 2016 17:34:51
Perhaps the unconscious bias thing is referring to often trotted out phrases like 'he has an attitude problem' when he has in fact shown no attitude problem what-so-ever? The perception of Sturridge is definitely different but what that is down to exactly i'm not sure.

Really don't agree with you at all Waro (your take on Sturridge that is) - I think Sturridge has conducted himself impeccably since arriving at Anfield and has shown the fans plenty of love - I remember the video of him getting out his car and dancing + talking with fans. What has he done to alienate himself from fans? I don't get it.

16.) 19 Jun 2016 18:08:02
MK and Waro- as you can see, I don't agree with all your points but I appreciate both your points of view. What I will ask is to please not dismiss a point of view that has been personally experienced and seen. However, I do not have a PC point of view (the whole pc concept to me is just another form of control which I don't agree with. ) I find this a interesting debate to be honest. You won't find any trolling from me and I really hope no one writes anything stupid to get this thread deleted! If either or both of you write a reply, I look forward to seeing it as I appreciate the honest posts you put up. Cheers lads, KB.

17.) 19 Jun 2016 22:45:17
Wow like Sturridge this post has really caused a divide amongst the fanbase. Can't wait to see how this discussion pans out and Franco I really am loving it but it really is a Shocker to me and I don't want to sound like Mister Negative here but how much longer do you see this Gwen on for? Anyway time for a pint down the Paris Ship and Mitre before training tomorrow.

13 Jun 2016 12:54:45
Hi you muscular and toned redmen, Eds I was wondering how likely it is that the reported £9.5m Zielinski offer will be accepted given the old tapping up blunder (there's one for the Jurg-O blooper reel if I ever saw one) - was that the offer they were holding out for or were they hoping for something higher?

JoeAllen

{Ed002's Note - Try the search please.}

1.) 13 Jun 2016 14:02:36
Sorry no likely questions allowed!

2.) 13 Jun 2016 14:29:58
I for one can't wait to see the young Udinese midfielder and Poland international dressed head to toe in Liverpool merchandise and/ or attire. Hopefully he is the solution to our creative midfield problem boys and lahs.

05 Jun 2016 20:46:06
Don't ask me how I know him (we met three years back at a charity fundraiser) but I was down the old Ship and Mitre pub this morning, must have clocked in around 8am and Sir Alex Ferguson popped in. Knowing him intimately as I do I offered to buy him a whiskey, on the rocks as he loves to drink that one does Big Al as he prefers to be called by his good friends.

He said I could buy him a drink just so long as he could share all of his knowledge of the tactical side of the beautiful game with me and I agreed (though later I wished I hadn't after he provided me with a 3000 page dossier) .

And so we sat there drinking the hard stuff (I suggested we have a drink in remembrance of Barry Proudfoot who was taken too soon and Alex said a few words) as time flew by, days turned into weeks, weeks into months and so forth. But one thing that particularly caught my attention was when Sir Alex told me the following:

"Oh that Danny Ings lad is a superb talent much more so than any of those scummy United youngsters who I so despise and certainly at present is better than that filthy Swede Zlatan has ever been. "

Anyway as time rattled along I came to the conclusion that other than this statement (which Jose Mourinho himself also relayed to me in the exact same words, don't ask how I know him) sir Alex was a fraud and I couldn't believe how he'd gotten so far.

I told him this and he became red faced and spat his chewing gum at me. It was only then that I realised I'd been talking to Susan Boyle for the past three years. Anyway we sang a little tune I dreamed a dream on the karaoke machine and parted ways.

JoeAllen

1.) 05 Jun 2016 21:07:47
Probably the most truthful story I've ever read on here to be fair. Cheers Pirlo.

2.) 05 Jun 2016 21:32:04
Joe, Danny Ings is indeed a very good player. I was gutted about his injury as soon as Klopp started, and was delighted to see him get some game time against West Brom. Really looking forward to him playing and scoring goals for us next season.

3.) 05 Jun 2016 21:52:09
Is Ed002 Susan Boyle? 😱.

4.) 05 Jun 2016 21:56:50
Yes I agreed Jeff he is a good lad and a good player Sir Al - SuBo was right it seems.

Yes MK Scouser it seems there's a lot of tall tales and dibs on this particular site, however you will always be East Midlands Scouser to me. As they say at the Black Horse in Melton Mowbray you can take the boy out of the East Midlands but you can't take the East Midlands out of the boy. I've visited the establishment many a time and each time I've been in there the barmaid Tracy tells me the same thing. It feels like deja vu.

5.) 06 Jun 2016 00:08:56
There's only one Big Al.

6.) 06 Jun 2016 13:16:11
Wow big al I always admired you from afar believing you were a better man than I but now I see you are an ego maniac just like me, to think that there can only be one big al is truly selfish I think we should all allow names to be used for others. However as I said I went to nanda parbat simply to satisfy my ego so I cannot judge this is merely an observation and therapy as it can be traumatic when your heroes turn out to be different then the perfection you painted them as.

18 May 2016 11:53:44
So the boys march on Basel tonight as we seek to claim the iron throne from those Sevilla bandits. I like old Graeme Souness' optimism but I don't think we'll win "in style" as he so gruffly put it. I'm plumping for a tight affair all things considered perhaps a 1-0, I certainly think we'll win but I'll tell you boys one thing. it ain't going to be easy.

Dreaming of a team of James Milner's for tonight's game, I'll be watching down the old Ship and Mitre, I hope the-real-deal will pop in for a pint (or ten! ) but I'll be drinking with my son's best friend who supports Everton, we've developed something of a friendship in recent months ha.

JoeAllen

1.) 18 May 2016 13:46:48
Well Joe I won't be with you but I'll certainly will be having a pint with you. As for the result, well let's just say that we never do things the easy way. You won't be on chat tonight then?

2.) 18 May 2016 14:33:50
I certainly will be it all depends on if my date/ bezzy the-real-deal stands me up at the old Ship and Mitre, my intention is to log onto the chat with me old Liverpool lahs and buddies.

Thanks a lot ed, if Chilwell is our first choice I trust him and Klopp's judgement regardless of his relative inexperience. Will also be nice to have a young English guy in the defence, hopefully he can be a good addition and fill the gap that's been left since Riise left.

Queen of Starling that kind of post really is what separates Liverpool from the rest of the pack (I'm sure ed2 will agree with me) and in fact the English from the rest of the flock. It's a disgusting way to talk about your neighbours and I hope against all hope that there's salvation out there for you yet. Perhaps another trip to Lian Yu is on the cards for you Mister Grumpy Pants. Honestly I thought you were a changed man after five years in hell, I thought you were someone else, something else but no, seems you're the same selfish playboy who left.

Chris Coleman (me and the lads especially my ape brother Gareth and also captain Ash Williams like to call him Christina Colewoman due to his particularly funny name lol and also the fact that his pa was a coal worker who died in a mining accident) said I could have the next few days off because of this National Holiday so I'll be down the old Ship and Mitre drinking my sorrows away (why does she have to be with him for goodness sake) . Chris saw some of the posts on here and chuckled but then ruffled my lovely beard I asked him to stop but he continued to do it in the manner of a dirty man oh well there's always Euro 2020.
