Daily Mail reporting we have had an offer of Joao Mario of Sporting knocked backk. Any truth in this?

Joao Mario doesn't play in an attacking or wide role like Coutinho, Firmino or Mane. He is a box to box midfielder and a very good one at that. I have followed his progress since his youth days when a Sporting side which also included him, Teixeira and Ilori beat Liverpool's youth team in a UEFA Youth tournament a few years ago.

My take is that he (and Max Meyer) was looked at as an option alongside Wijnaldum after Zielinksi fell through, but Klopp decided on Wijnaldum.

{Ed041's Note - I thought he looked bang average in the euros (if I'm thinking of the right player) looked very limited, but admittedly that is really all I have seen.

Doubt we are. Unless it was before we signed mane or wijnaldum. But would just say I was quite impressed with him at the euros. Certainly more than Portugal sanchez. Not sure how git a big move to bayern. Touch passing decisions looked awful.

@ Kopdogs - you know Renato Sanches is still only 18 right? And that he bossed it for Benfica last season? The lad is going far in the game and Bayern simply moved early to secure the services of one of the best young players in the game - i've only read others opinions (within the game) but by all accounts he is a superstar in the making - hilarious that your talking smack about him based on the Euro's. And for sure he will be (if he isn't already) a much better player than Joao Mario.

Mario has got serious burners but nothing else as far as I was concerned and Sanches to me is an unbelievable player for his age. he will have a big career ahead of him for sure.

Can't say I seen a lot of Benfica last year. Or would I want to have. I wasn't talking smack about the lad. Was just stating my opinion of his performance and that I though joa Mario looked a much better player. Not sure what his age has got to do with anything. Just because a player is young doesn't mean he will be a stay. Seen mist of the games and he just for me a good 70/ 80 per cent of his touched resulted in him losing the ball.

@ Mr Dennis - even a casual search on google will reveal articles proving that Guy Roux's claims were completely false and without substance. A Protugese newspaper even realised a copy of his birth certificate which stated his birth date clearly. There is also a video of him when he is 13 in 2010. Guy Roux's claims were just utter bull and the fact you are believe them and are using them to judge the player shows your level of intellect.

I mentioned a few weeks back about Benteke meeting Pardew in Brussels Airport. DM reporting he has agreed terms with Palace. Fee to be agreed yet.

I tried searching for any new news on 'Leandro Damiao'. Are any clubs currently monitoring him?

If you want any news on Damiao track down the user known as 'The Oracle' from the spurs site. Was a very big Damiao fan every window if memory serves me correctly.

I have just looked at the odds (not reliable but still) and last week Palace were not mentioned, but at this moment they're 3-1 second fav.

Good morning Eds and Reds,

Greeting you warm wishes from sunny Kosovo.

Who would you reds rather sign, Lallana or Shaqiri? My opinion is split, I feel both would fit in well. However, as Shaqiri heralds from Kosovo I would love to see us sign him, the Kosovars would go nuts.

On a separate (but linked) note, if we do actually close the deal for Moreno and Can, coupled with Lambert and possibly Lallana/Shaqiri, what a window already. who, if any, would you like to sign?

Does anybody else think we now have a lot of CM's?

I am still hurting from the Chelsea game, last night shattered me.

Anyone else feel numb today in work?

I can't even bare to go on the sport pages etc. However, it seems unlikely, but the way this season has gone do not rule out City getting beat.

It does not matter the City and Chelsea - Sunderland results. They both mean nothing unless we win tomorrow. Tomorrow is decisive. If we win. and If. it puts us in a good position. Nothing is given to you tho, you have to take it.

What I found I most interesting tonight watching Chelsea, was the atmosphere. If that was Anfield, going for the title (and Champs League), it would have been rocking. What summed it up for me was the pre-match atmosphere, boo's at half time AND fans leaving at 85-86 mins. Awful support. Then you have Mourinho's post match comments. Awful. How can you comment on officials like that? It plagues him through-out his career. Always moaning at officials, deflecting in his teams performance. Would Brendan do that?
