Seen a few things linking us to brugge left back bjorn meijer, I ignored but yesterday's game made me think there could be truth in it.

He's 6 ft 3 so would allow us to go into a back 3 whilst in possession freeing up trent in the role he played yesterday when he was coming inside and dictating play. Giving him a free role.

Trent is so talented we need to utilise him and yesterday was really interesting to watch. Do you know is this link has any legs Ed?

LFCSTE29

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest of Liverppol and don't see how it could have anything to to with Alexander Arnold.}

1.) 10 Apr 2023 21:08:06
Do you have to be 6 ft 3 ins to be a left back?

2.) 10 Apr 2023 21:08:22
I think Ndicka and Konate eithe side of VVD would be most realistic and could work well. that's a big big IF Klopp would play that system. I kind of with ED01- 433, high press, don't over think it.

3.) 10 Apr 2023 22:03:35
Talking of Ndicka he played in the Frankfurt side that got beat 3-1 away to Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen on Saturday. Xabi has now won 6 games on the run in all competitions. The record since Bayer returned to the Bundesliga in 1979 is 7 games won in all competitions on the trot in 2002.

He has a good chance of equalling that record this Thursday night at home in the Quarter final of the Europa Cup versus the Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, who are a Belgian team that have not been beat away from home so far in this Europa Cup, a team we recently thrashed 7-0 also have yet to be beat away in the Europa as well.

Xabi as usual changed his formation for this game from last weeks 3-4-3 to 3-4-1-2, they were leading two nil Eintracht pulled one back but Bayer got the third and last goal in the 95th minute, he doesn't sit back and defend as the third goal proves. He was an exceptional midfield player, yet Bayer only had 43% possession in the match, Bayer however did have 14 shots at the goal of which nine were on target which is a high ratio.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could meet each other in the Europa Cup Final next season, although i must say his chances of a CL spot for next season are higher than ours i would comment, as even though the "Fat Lady" has yet to sing on our CL chances, i thought i heard her clearing her throat after the arsenal result!

4.) 11 Apr 2023 12:00:37
I agree with everything you said 007, apart from the Europa League bit ?.

5.) 11 Apr 2023 12:32:51
Alonso needs to be next LFC manager, said it a few weeks ago, he plays some great stuff.

6.) 11 Apr 2023 18:51:48
I would rather win the Europa League than our 2 domestic trophies.

7.) 11 Apr 2023 19:02:20
Alonso is doing well but would we be saying this if he didn’t play for us? Id love to see him back but everyone said the same about Gerrard at Rangers.

8.) 11 Apr 2023 19:59:28
I hate to say it, but I don’t think we are going to qualify for the Europa league. Can’t see where our next win is coming from? Maybe spurs will help us out.

Hi Ed, a number of links to ...............

1.) 23 Apr 2022 11:23:26
No problem Ed, will do.

11 Oct 2021 18:44:35
Another couple of names linked Charles De Ketelaere from club brugge and ousmanne dembele (I believe klopp is a fan) and he is out of contact in the summer.

Any truth to these Ed?

LFCSTE29

{Ed002's Note - Charles De Ketelaere (AM/LW/F) There has been interest from Nice and Lorient who were worried about losing Terem Moffi. Arsenal have watched him but taken it no further. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.

I dealt with Dembele earlier today.}

1.) 11 Oct 2021 21:50:34
When you say you “dealt with him” Ed, is that in the Mafia sense of the term?

14 Aug 2021 11:39:11
Looks like Ben Davies is off to Sheffield utd on loan. Shame, as it seems he will never play a competitive game for Liverpool.

Feel for the lad. Hopefully he can get his career going again.

LFCSTE29

1.) 14 Aug 2021 12:56:02
He missed 3 and a half months of football, oh the drama!

2.) 14 Aug 2021 13:28:07
Completely ignoring the knock-on effects this has likely had on his confidence there, Jadon.

3.) 14 Aug 2021 13:48:20
Again, the drama! not being a d%$k lads but the lad would have known the score when he signed, and then he had injuries. The chances of him leaving at the seasons end were always quite large. The blokes confidence isn't suddenly going to be shot cos someone rates VVD, Gomez, Matip and Kounate ahead of him.

4.) 14 Aug 2021 14:14:53
So you’re saying the guy signed at the end of Feb during our defensive crisis, turning down Celtic in the process, in the full knowledge he was very unlikely to play a game and then to be moved on in the summer?

Gotcha 👌🏼.

5.) 14 Aug 2021 14:40:21
Then why didn't he play, it wasnt a grand evil scheme outa Klopp to wreck a coupla months of the blokes career. He got an injury and then when fit he was deemed inferior to a guy that had originally been meant to go to Swansea on loan and a kid who's only senior experience was non league. Surely if he was impressing more than them two he'd have played, he obviously didnt.

6.) 14 Aug 2021 15:04:03
Jebus! Give me a break. Is everybody meant to be a delicate little flower these days? I doubt spending half a year with some of the worlds best will have done him any harm whatsoever.

Imagine if he’d have been at Sheffield Utd during last season. Now that would have made his confidence dip…

Snowflake central around here.

7.) 14 Aug 2021 15:20:48
No ones saying it’s a grand evil scheme apart from you.
The reasons why he didn’t play are varied I’d imagine and unknown.
But there’s no way he joined the club in the knowledge that his playing time would be extremely limited/ non existent during a defensive crisis and then he was to be moved on months later.

8.) 14 Aug 2021 15:21:43
I can't take anyone who uses "snowflake" unironically seriously.

9.) 14 Aug 2021 15:59:14
Im sure when he signed he would have been thought of as a better option than Phillips and Williams, he would have thought the same thing himself. Turns out for whatever reason he wasnt, who's fault (if there is actually any fault) is that exactly?

10.) 14 Aug 2021 16:57:01
I thought we had all moved on to a post ironic discourse where irony is seen as immature.

11.) 14 Aug 2021 17:25:35
It's a very short career. Getting a huge opportunity at Liverpool and not getting a chance to pull on the shirt would bother anyone

I'm not saying let's start a go fund me page but don't see the problem in wishing the lad well and saying it's a shame for him. What's wrong with that?

12.) 14 Aug 2021 23:04:28
Did he sign thinking he would be a starter? His choice.

13.) 15 Aug 2021 07:26:06
It's a good move for him. Sheffield United will be in the mix for promotion this season. He knew the situation when he signed and I bet it's been a fabulous experience for him having spent most of his career in the lower end of the league. Good luck to him!

{Ed001's Note - he has set his whole family up for life by joining Liverpool, got to train under some of the best coaches in the world, alongside some of the best players in the world. I really do not see how anyone can say it was a bad thing for him? He is now extremely wealthy both financially and in experience. He will have learnt so much from the coaching and being around top class players, you would expect him to have improved massively as a player due to it. If he has worked hard and listened, this should have made his career.}

06 Aug 2020 11:21:58
As an ex red with no club was wondering if you know what's going on with Daniel sturridges career at the moment? Any interest in him at all from england?

LFCSTE29

{Ed002's Note - Daniel Sturridge (S) Benevento will be playing in Serie A next season and want to add DS after losing out on Andre Schurrle.}

1.) 06 Aug 2020 13:23:37
Thanks ed.

2.) 06 Aug 2020 18:12:09
All the best to him. Always liked Studge.

Barcelona should sign him. Surely he'll do better than Martin Braithwaite. I swear that Studge and Suarez are telepathic together.

3.) 07 Aug 2020 09:35:43
"Let's just hand over 20 million to Norwich"

In case anyone has been living under a rock for the last 5 months, a quick recap:

Clubs are bleeding money, are firing staff left and right, and struggling to pay salaries to their players. Many clubs are facing bankruptcy. Some well known clubs have put their entire squad up for sale.

This is not a drill. I repeat. This is not a drill.

4.) 07 Aug 2020 13:38:08
Seems you got the wrong thread, 67 mate.

Benevento would be a fun move for Studge and a nicer place to live.
He should score goals for them in Serie A, but mostly I just love their crest with the witch riding a broomstick. :)

Ed002 on the money again. Liverpool negotiating for gravenberch. He also predicted City may look to nunes to upgrade on Phillips a while back too! Lucky to have the insight.

LFCSTE29

1.) 30 Aug 2023 22:18:37
Phillips to Liverpool now then ?.

2.) 30 Aug 2023 22:29:44
He also knew of Thuram interest and many many others. I don't know what he does but he clearly knows about scouting, some meetings taking place etc.

The only problem is some fans seem to expect him to call exactly what player Liverpool are getting and Arsenal, Man United and others too. He needs a seat at every clubs recruitment team basically.

His info has always been good. It's just people's interpretation that throws people off.

Those are the stupid fans. The rest of us mildly bewildered fans know he s a good one and really appreciate the man's time and effort.

3.) 30 Aug 2023 22:38:23
“I don't know what he does”

@Davey you’ve been around long enough to know he’s a part-time rodeo clown and gentlemen adventurer.

I always imagined his clowning was entertainment for the football club boardrooms where we would pick up tit bits and gossip from the directors.

07 Jan 2023 09:40:34
Josko Gvardiol: "My dream club? That would definitely be Liverpool. Since I was little, I watched a lot of their matches with my dad. We covered every season in detail. It is a club that has remained in my heart"

I do like it when we players have a fondness for the club, it guarantees effort and maybe means they will be here for the long term. But maybe that's me being naive.

Wouldn't mind if we had a look at him for the long term VVD replacement for that l3ft side of the defence. Obviously not seem loads of him but seems highly rated, young with experience at a decent level. Was good ay the WC (obviously not always reliable way to judge players)

LFCSTE29

1.) 07 Jan 2023 10:07:10
Means we definitely won’t go after him.

2.) 07 Jan 2023 10:20:57
Would love him at club as he’s quality and still 20, but I think our funds are going to be used on midfielders.

3.) 07 Jan 2023 10:37:53
The absolute state of a fan base who accepts there won’t be money to sign a proper defender of a club which generates close to £600 mill in annual revenue and is 5th most valued club in the world.
What is the actual point of success when you can’t afford two / three world class players.
Gvardiol is a fantastic player and for the long term VVD replacement, I am guessing the super fans are waiting for sepp Van der berg to finish his 18th customary loan lol.

{Ed002's Note - Gvardiol won't be joining Liverpool. There are two other clubs who have already held discussions.}

4.) 07 Jan 2023 10:53:02
So you're more bothered about spending money on world class players than success, TwitterMan?
I can't believe I'm reading the words 'what is the actual point of success'.

5.) 07 Jan 2023 10:55:50
I know mate Ed02. And I am guessing Chelsea will press and why not. The boy is a fantastic defender. 20 years old and looks so mature already.
We don’t have money.

6.) 07 Jan 2023 11:02:39
VVD and Allison got us the league. You are seriously delude if you think you can win without world class players.
How many league titles did Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing win at LFC lol.

7.) 07 Jan 2023 11:11:33
We'd need him to stay put until summer 24' to have a chance i reckon but can't see that happening. don't see the problem with hoping the likes of a Van Den Berg comes good! As much chance of a young signing making it as the new flavour of the month in a lot of cases.

8.) 07 Jan 2023 11:16:58
It’s unfortunate a player will miss out on his dream move because we are skint. I suppose he will have to settle for second best such a shame.

9.) 07 Jan 2023 11:20:59
Point was twitter we urgently need midfielders and it seems our most likely targets this summer will be Bellingham, Caicedo and/ or Fernandez. Two will cost a considerable amount plus fees wages etc. I don’t think Gvardiol is an option due to this. Skrinier of Inter on free is a more viable target, as well as Rabiot on a free. Those two with two of the above midfielders and I’d say business done.

10.) 07 Jan 2023 11:47:15
That has to be the fastest switch of a username for Harry I’ve ever seen!

11.) 07 Jan 2023 11:54:05
Thing is, we’ve been in the position of needing to refresh the midfield for a few years but have neglected it on the basis that the funds weren’t there and we’d do it in the next summer. This summer it’s clear we are actually desperate need of sorting the midfield
, but it also looks like one where we’re not likely to get champions league football the way we’re playing (unless there’s a miracle), to say differently is being somewhere between delusional and dishonest. If we can’t afford to spend when we have got champions league football, then it’s hardly going to help when we don’t. FSG have loaded us with debt and instated a hand to mouth policy that means significant sales are needed to make up the meagre transfer budget, that’s not a recipe for long term success. Hence why we’re very unlikely to see the likes of Gvardiol or Bellingham playing for us regardless of how much they want to join us. Only way any big summer signings are happening is if FSG sell up, and not to the likes of Harris Blitzer or Stephen Pagliuca as that’s just more of the same.

12.) 07 Jan 2023 12:23:38
Someone needs to explain the difference between revenue and profit to Twitter man. You can generate £600m in revenue every year if you like but if you then pay out £599m in costs then that doesn't allow you to spend £250m on players every year without going into debt. Revenue discussions are pointless unless you're having a whose got the biggest willy contest.

13.) 07 Jan 2023 13:11:32
Income is vanity, profit is sanity.

On a serious note, we’ve dished out a lot of big contracts to keep us being a destination club.

Some of those big contracts are associated with players who might want to pull their finger out right now. A bit of fighting talk wouldn’t go amiss.

14.) 07 Jan 2023 13:25:46
Just curious VVVV, what kind of owners would appeal to you?

15.) 07 Jan 2023 13:32:36
Turnover is vanity, Pelican.

Does anyone understand our finances and who our transfer targets are?
I have no idea but I'm open to be educated. I listened when I was told we should go for Bissouma and Bowen but I'm not deterred.

16.) 07 Jan 2023 14:18:02
The accounts are public knowledge Rigsby, you'll find them published easily enough. Revenue/ turnover/ income (same difference) always gets the headlines as it gets our fans all moist. But it's irrelevant if you then spend it all.

17.) 07 Jan 2023 15:13:22
I see Harry has changed his username again.

18.) 07 Jan 2023 15:57:20
I can't be arsed with my own accounts, johnnyr1970 ?.
It's all very well Googling a few figures but does anyone really understand how much we have to spend on players? I bet people at the club don't especially when you consider what can happen with our own players. If we sell Keita tomorrow then there might be more funds, for example.
And all this talk of us signing Caceido for £50m or £70m is silly.
We don't know what Brighton's or the player's position is on this let alone how much money we have anyway.

Most of us have no idea about the finances of the club and buying a player. It's a banter site and it should be treated as such but a lot are getting wound up about the players we are not signing.
Get back to the banter and I promise we'll get Bellingham and Valverde in the summer.

19.) 07 Jan 2023 16:13:09
I guess it's why Ed002 won't talk about finances Rigsby, simple fact is that as soon as someone starts gloating about how high our revenue is then they should just be laughed at. Last time I looked our revenue was circa £500m, club reported a loss of about £10m so, we spent all of that and more. Sadly, this is my day job.

20.) 07 Jan 2023 17:22:52
I don't blame Ed002, johnny.
It seems more people are bothered about fictional new signings than the actual point of success.

21.) 07 Jan 2023 21:20:17
@Rigsby, the last time the club had ‘success’ for me was the period between late September 2019 and January 2020. We seemed to be playing games every couple of days and we just kept turning up (Aston Villa League Cup aside when we basically turned out our U-18s. we played with confidence and style and found ways not to be beaten (and mostly to win) and never let our heads drop.

That’s the way I love to see us play and that to me is success. For me winning cups and stuff is the reward for being successful and winning titles and stuff isn’t my criteria for success. As an example, Leeds in the 60’s and 70’s were a team that won stuff but 70 - 80% of the time they were God awful to watch. In my book even though they won things they were never successful. In contrast the “total football’ era for Holland was brilliant to watch and the failure to beat West Germany in the final of the World Cup doesn’t, imho, mean they weren’t successful. Just saying that there are different criteria for success and, as we all know, it’s all about opinions ….

22.) 08 Jan 2023 02:33:40
I get you, WDW.
But you can play good football and win trophies. If you are playing good football and not winning trophies, you are not playing good enough football.
I think the best team I saw of ours was Dalglish's team with Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge. Would they have beaten the team of Souness, Dalglish and Rush or our team of the late seventies though?
So you do have a point, my friend.

23.) 08 Jan 2023 07:16:39
Totally agree with that Rigsby and it would be brilliant if we could play really good football AND win trophies.

Usually if we do play good football we do actually win things but, as I say, for me I get the most fun out of watching us just playing well.

24.) 08 Jan 2023 09:12:46
VVVV, funds have been available to get midfielders in BUT your manager who you continue to protect by blaming FSG didn’t want to. Proof? We have spent 200m on the past 4 windows on transfers, NONE of which were didn’t on the actual central midfielders required for his whole system. What stopped Klopp from using some of that money to strengthen the midfield. Oh don’t tell me. FSG, right?

It’s was your OWN manager who neglected the midfield and he admitted to doing that this season already BUT you insist on slamming FSG to protect him for his own admitted mistakes. Embarrassing.

26 Jul 2022 13:12:19
Question for ed001 if he's free.

Will we be getting your match reviews for the upcoming season mate? I really enjoyed them. And I believe you usually do a transfer window review and give a team a grade, would be interesting to get your perspective I think.

Appreciate your v busy but thought it might be worth asking.

LFCSTE29

{Ed001's Note - I will be trying to do match reviews yes. Fingers crossed. Just trying to get the right channel set up as the footie has moved to a new channel. I certainly intend to do the transfer window review as well once the window shuts.}

1.) 26 Jul 2022 13:23:15
No superstitions Ed. You have to watch them all! And write reviews after for our pleasure. Good man yerself.

2.) 26 Jul 2022 13:47:46
Thanks Ed, look forward to them. Had enough of the break now, the weekend feel too empty!

{Ed001's Note - same here mate, though for me I just want the transfer window to be over so I don't have to spend all my time typing up the transfers for the news!}

3.) 26 Jul 2022 17:42:52
Should be easy typing our transfers up now Ed, just copy and paste "WE ARE DONE".

4.) 26 Jul 2022 18:03:45
Not only do we have tactical geniuses on here we also have our transfer committee as well.

And there’s me thinking we might sell or loan a couple more. Someone needs to tell Phillips and Ox’s agents we’re done.

5.) 26 Jul 2022 23:10:46
As long as we get a Southampton match review.

01 Jul 2022 16:14:04
Mo signed up until 2025.

All confirmed by the club. Great news.

Hi Ed, I know we have interest in sarr from Watford but Dennis has been there standout player this season and I'm sure he is attracting interest from elsewhere. Do you know how is interested?

LFCSTE29

{Ed002's Note - He only joined a few months ago and they would not be looking to sell.}

1.) 14 Dec 2021 18:59:16
Hes had 2 or 3 half decent games? Sarr is far better and proven over seasons buddy.

2.) 15 Dec 2021 00:24:15
doing business with Watford would not suit the FSG.

3.) 15 Dec 2021 12:41:04
Bit of motd fever I admit, he's second behind salah for most goal involvements in the league, if Watford go down I'm sure many would take a punt on him if he keeps this up.

I would have preferred the rule be the additional 2 substitutions be youth players or under a certain age to encourage giving youngsters a chance but still able to rest players. Win win for everyone that way but probably a bit naive.

I personally don't believe in dropping a player who has been performing really well. I think robbo should be brought back in when form dips or injury hits. He won't be fully fit for a while anyway.

A season in the championship might reignite your love for the game Ed. Less of those prima donnas you mentioned. Oh and you might win some games which always helps.

LFCSTE29

{Ed025's Note - i think we will struggle in the championship STE, but with the calibre of our squad thats where we belong, with a possible transfer embargo, points deduction and a massive fine it certainly wont be easy mate, plus other teams in there will want this once great clubs scalp so im not very optimistic i must say..

Its not goals or assists that make a player a favourite. a lot of the time it's work rate, attitude, timing of goals (importance) flair and personality. Bobby has all of this in abundance. You can tell he loves the club, has been respectful in the way he is leaving.

Also completely unselfish.

I prefer dirk kuyt over luis suarez I think we all know who the better player was.

Even if you look at caicedos recent social media post he mentioned having 9 siblings and hinting the move would allow him to provide financial security for them. It's a huge motivation for players to better their career and continue to push.
