Might be a difficult one to answer but since Ancelotti had an issue with his health and needed surgery or something (I think), does anyone know if that was done and the sabattical was just for R&R? Really what I mean is he healthy enough to take up a position? Thanks a bunch Reds.

Eds do you think Dortmund could get cannibalised by other clubs in the summer? Even if the finish alright?

Licky Lambert

{Ed002's Note - It is already known that a number of players including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mat Hummels, Gundogan and Reus will leave. They will be doing some work on the team.}

1.) 01 Feb 2015 20:02:46
Any idea what's gone so wrong with them ed I mean they were class not long ago ! ! !

{Ed002's Note - It is different for each player.}

2.) 01 Feb 2015 20:40:19
Dezyboy, It seems like when they sell players that they go for the vheaper option to replace ie ( Immobile in for Lewandowski ) and they have had bad injuries.

3.) 02 Feb 2015 02:09:55
Sound familiar? OmalleyLFC lol

4.) 02 Feb 2015 08:26:01
Interesting, thanks a bunch Ed002.

Eds how many can you see going out the door in the summer? And do you think, more importantly, the wage bill can be wrangled under control then? Not really looking for names or numbers just do you think it can be addressed in one window. Thanks a bunch as always, and all the best for the new year, Eds 001 and 002 in particular for all the work you put in to the posts.

Licky Lambert

{Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off. I appreciate the fans want to change all of the players every year and then blame another year on transition on the poor results. Fortunately the owners are not quite as dumb as the fans.}

1.) 02 Jan 2015 22:45:58
Without mentioning numbers so as not to upset some;

"High" earners leaving/current contract expiring: Gerrard & Johnson

"Medium" earners likely to be leaving/contract expiring: Toure, Lucas, Skrtel, Enrique

"Medium-low" earners likely to be leaving/contract expiring: Aspas, Borini, Assaidi, Jones

Likely selection of younger players on first team contracts moving on: Wisdom, Alberto, Suso

I think a large chunk will be wiped off the wage bill through Gerrard, Johnson & Toure's contract expiring.

With the other players, my guess is that we won't be selling many for profit, some we may even have to let go for nothing/make a wage contribution for remaining term on contract.

I assume we will have a few players going on to improved contracts: Sterling, Flanagan, Coutinho,

2.) 02 Jan 2015 23:00:42
Personally, I reckon our squad is probably too big and an awful loot are obviously not of the quality we need. We need a good dig out and a smaller but higher quality pool.

3.) To be fair, I don't feel we really need to add anyone apart from the departing free agents and even then, that's up for debate as to whether they need replacing or not. Can in for Gerrard, Flanagan in for Johnson and do we really need another CB? The way it's looking at the minute, Rodgers may not be manager come next season, so I would expect us to improve defensively with or without signings, if Rodgers is to leave.

4.) 03 Jan 2015 02:17:49
ForzaRed. Do you not think Wisdom will be given a chance next year!? Having a good loan season of consistent PL football! I would have him back now over Johnson, Skrtel and Lovren! I also think he is a far better defender than Flanagan, whom I think is very much over-rated.

5.) 03 Jan 2015 08:11:54
Flanagan is overrated ?! yous is going to be a hard person to impress

6.) 03 Jan 2015 10:05:18
Unfortunately Flan lacks real pace and will always be caught out. Doesn't have the physique for CB to emulate Carra either

7.) 03 Jan 2015 20:14:16
Thanks guys, Forza in particular. ;) I wasn't trying to sound like I want players gone or think everyone of our players should be tossed for not being good enough, I'm actually optimistic the youngsters and the first team squad has a very strong backbone to build from, was really just wondering if the wage bill could be brought under control in one window since we're currently spending too much.

I've looked on that Russia 24 sport website, it didn't mention anything about Kono, even searched it in his Ukrainian name and all that came up was a Euro 2012 article. Great work Eds, almost across the line, hope you take a well deserved rest. especially if we don't sign Kono. ;)

Eds any clubs looked at Jordy Clasie? Not sure how he progressed but he was a defensive midfield prospect a while back. Cheers, good work, and here's to fruitful new year.

Licky Lambert

{Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Clasie remains a target for Fiorentina but a January move is very unlikely.}

Melissa Reddy seems to believe that we've signed Keita and he's having a medical now but its in advance for next summer. Anything on this Eds?

I'd just like to say thank you to all the editors and Macca for their information this summer and for sharing their opinions. Its shaping up to be a frenzy over the next couple of days, good luck! Keep up the stellar work.

I bet like me and a lot on here that they can't wait for this transfer window to close. It has to be one of the most annoying, repetitive and yet intriguing windows in a long time. Fair play ALL Ed's take a bow.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 13:27:15
My wife can't wait for the transfer window to close. I don't know about the fans. Isn't the will we won't we add to the excitement of being a fan.

21 Jan 2016 19:44:19
Sorry for what will probably be a difficult post to answer. Eds do you think if Liverpool are looking at certain players (Teixeira) that would cost a fair amount that they're confident that certain deals can be struck with regards to outgoings? It just seems, and I guess the summer is more likely, a foolish thing to do to spend money while we're are under financial strain as it is. All the best, thanks a bunch. Awesome work as usual.

Licky Lambert

{Ed001's Note - not so sure about that, FSG have shown little signs of prudent financial foresight with the club. It seems to be just a hope that rising revenue will keep the club going.}

1.) 21 Jan 2016 20:05:44
He would cost some serious money, but he is world class talent. What was the use of paying 27 mill on Lallana and back out from Tex?

{Ed002's Note - Tex?}

2.) 21 Jan 2016 20:24:15
Thanks Ed001, I guess they're open to spending if its deemed right or necessary, hopefully they know what they're doing and can get some cash flow in from outgoings.

3.) 21 Jan 2016 20:09:09
Teixiera Ed02. I would love him at Liverpool. He is a top class talent and I have hardly seen you praising players. It's such shane we wasted our money elsewhere.

4.) 21 Jan 2016 22:00:18
ED001 and 2

correct me if I am wrong here, or slightly off the mark, but it is my understanding, that when the books are looked at again to see if we are within the FFP constraints, it will be period from June 01st 2014 to June 01st 2015 (? )

So, if we were to be successful in signing Teixeria ( or any other player for that matter) for a huge transfer fee, adding to that agents fees, taxes, wages etc, the club would need some significant outgoings in this January window to recoup a large proportion of the cost of the Teixera deal to the club, as it cannot be offset against potential outgoings from July 01st 2015 (summer transfer window)

Regards.

{Ed002's Note - Or other income.}

5.) 21 Jan 2016 22:22:36
Income generated within that definitive period. not potential income outwith ED?

{Ed002's Note - Money could probably be brought forward from next season to offset further loans.}

6.) 21 Jan 2016 23:00:54
Is the overall allowable debt, within one assessment period still at £45m ED?

I read somewhere it us to be lowered to £30m for the 2016 / 2017 period to tighten it up again . have I got that right ED002?

{Ed002's Note - You are mixing up several things. Debt (what clubs owe to owners, banks etc.), deficit (the amount of money that can be injected by owners to top up transfer funds) and currencies (€ and GBP).}

7.) 21 Jan 2016 23:30:08
Ed002 would it be fair to presume at some point in the near future we will be very careful with our spending, with very few incomings over a few windows? Similar to Arsenal after they built the Emirates if you get me.

{Ed002's Note - The club has been living well beyond its means and hence has built very significant debt. Debt is further increasing for other reason but will be eased going forward. With additional income coming next season the club will be in a better position financially but critically has this debt which they will need to start paying down. It has been a moneypit for the owners and financially mismanaged in desperation for on field success to match off field commercial success.}

Well MOTD should be thoroughly entertaining tonight, only downside is the Bluenoses managed to win it right at the death against Newcastle. Onwards and upwards!

07 Dec 2015 15:41:48
Ed001 do you think Origi will be second choice behind Sturridge now? And will Klopp look to get Hendo fit and in the team asap to replace Milner? Thanks again. Keep up the great work.

Licky Lambert

{Ed001's Note - it is a squad game, it doesn't work like that. Klopp will use what is available to him when he believes they are needed.}

1.) 07 Dec 2015 16:52:05
I just think Benteke dosent suit the high pressing game Klopp wants, is he willing to learn who knows he has only been with the club a matter of months so patience is needed with him. He was a question mark of a buy even when rodgers was there as the fast forward isn't his game, but he is here now so we either play to his ability or we use him as an expensive plan B. i would like to see both him and sturridge up top see what they can come up with together. Klopp said the lewondoski only scored 8 goals in his first season when he was bought and look at him now, don't get me wrong i am not saying Klopp will strike twice in the sense of making benteke as good as lewondoski but it is obvious klopp knows how to make a good striker. It is a shame that Danny S is so injury prone because that is one player i could see Klopp making world class.

2.) 07 Dec 2015 18:34:26
My money is on Ings to become world class under Klop.

3.) 07 Dec 2015 21:20:31
ings world class? no. A valuable squad member who can always be relied on more than origi and benteke? yes.

It was £81.6m that was in the article, with 'bonuses' (whatever they mean by that? ) that could bring it up to £108.8m. Probably best to not think about it, though I would hope we hold out for more.

I'm inclined to agree with Frankly, I don't think there is anyone out there that could replace Coutinho like for like (unless we're buying a youngster with potential), if we do sell him I hope its for straight cash so we can see what we can do, it'll be an absolute shame if he leaves because it's clear he's at the centre of everything we do and the team is being built around him. My worry is that we either won't replace him or that we'll replace him but need to rework the system to do so. Maybe if we went back in for Keita with possibly more money to offer up front that could finally tempt RBL to sell?

Its disappointing to hear that, thank you for the information Ed002, I sincerely hope the club really cleans itself up in the next few years (and not just regarding illicit or shady transfer dealings) but I guess if they're successful and aren't reprimanded it'll only continue.

Yeah, I think if we have a good season it sets us up well for next summer, hopefully if Coutinho does stay he'll apologise and knuckle down for the team, we'll have time to properly look for CBs and Coutinho's replacement. Next year I guess we'll be able to have the squad as we really want it (unless there are more outgoings) so hopefully we'll be able to do better than this year (so nailed on for the quadruple! ) .

I think the problem for us would/ will likely be the fee, not sure if we'd be willing to go so high, and I'm also not sure the player wants to leave badly enough that there could be some sort of compromise.
