Looks more like gone on strike by what the manager said, refused to play as wants to leave so is training by himself. I really hope after all this damage we caused we just stump up for the player we want and tapped up now. Then move on an try repair the damage as soon as possible.

His manager has confirmed that the player has been asked to train alone because he wants to leave and doesn't want to take part in the teams preseason.
But Southampton still maintains that he is not for sale.

To the person commenting on why would we want such a player in our squad. Mané actually pulled the same kind of stunt 6 months before he joined us when there was interest from United. Unfortunately this is just the way it is sometimes and Van Dijk has certainly made his feelings clear regarding moving to LFC.

The line that appears in the papers may not reflect reality. Organisations have more power to put their 'truth' into the public domain than individuals do.
I want to make it clear that I'm NOT casting any specific aspertions on what Southampton have said, just making a general point that you can't always take these things on face value. It's called PR.

Well said AndyM we don't know the full picture and Eds have posted on here about previous player treatment, bad atmosphere over it etc. Journos have an interest in keeping clubs happy because they get more stories from them and there are go to papers for them. Is VVD a big enough player that his side gets aired or that toxic a player that he is airing his side? Surely LFC. fans more than any should know to be cautious of how papers present things.

We want someone "like that" at Liverpool as he is doing w/ e is possible to play for us! Making himself unpopular at his workplace, distancing himself from his pals. If we don't come in and offer a decent amount (at least 50mil) then we should be ashamed. He is going to be awesome for us.

This could well be obvious, but looking through the posts here and just generally taking stock, I've come to the realisation that our squad is ludicrously bloated, even with Europe this season.

At ine stage last season due to injuries we had a bench of inexperienced young players.
Since then we have signed 3 players (one of which might yet be for the u23s) and Lucas and Stewart have left the first team squad.
We do not have a bloated squad.

Where is Cover of calibre for mane or salah in the squad? nowhere. If klopp likes ox then I'm all for it. However, a defence in place that makes literally everybody nervous is a glaring discrepancy that needed to be addressed at the beginning of the window. Myself and my cousin are over from Limerick (Steve finnan country) for the weekend, to push through a deal for Kevin Doyle so we will be fine going forward for the season, but where's the deal for McShane deal we've all been crying out for?

I'm over from Ireland for the first time in 6 years for the arsenal match, can't wait, going to do all the Beatles related activities possible while slightly sozzled and spend the rest of the time doing all things lfc. lurking around Melwood mostly.
