Given Evertons improvement of late. How's about a combined 1st 11 taken from Liverpool and Everton? Based on playing to their best current form, not potential (TAA would have made it if potential was a factor) and a team that works together, feel free to select a formation that works. if you can be bothered! I would welcome your views, especially Ed25. for me so many close calls but.4:3:3 . Allison, Coleman, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Keita, Sigurdsson, Fabinho, Mane, Firmino, Salah. tried by be objective without red shaded spectacles! Very excited about Sundays game.

{Ed025's Note - not a bad shout mansalainho but for me andre gomes comes in for fabinho for certain and on current form richarlison gets in ahead of bobby mate..

Also keita has been injured so shouldn't be there IMO.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 14:37:53
Thanks both. very good points, id included Fabinho to give the team some defensive balance. and thought the same on Keita after my post, guess I have high hopes for him.! Interesting thing is that quite a few blues get in these days, should be a tight game. not sure about Richarlison as central front player, but I only saw him in one game. I'd stick a slightly out of sorts firmino.

Agreed on the Fabinho call Ed025, he’s not first choice for us yet.
I think he’ll start tomorrow though and, if so, it’ll be a big day for him.
I’m interested to see how he does.
I think he’s got a red card in him too - about time there was one anyway 😃
I’m not sure why Ed001 likes him so much?

{Ed025's Note - me neither mate..

4.) 01 Dec 2018 15:08:46
Ed25, depends on who the manager is. If Klopp will play the press then Richarlison is not the guy for the CF spot, IMO. Bobbie would be the right fit there.

{Ed025's Note - richie runs his heart out you know brover and bobby has been poor this season up to now, on goals alone he gets in for me mate..

5.) 01 Dec 2018 15:09:58
Usually I’d take Bobby on current form playing on one leg ahead of Richarlison. But given how Richarlison is playing I guess I’ll agree with you 025 :p.

{Ed025's Note - you know it make sense TJ..

6.) 01 Dec 2018 15:30:24
sorry but how has no body mentioned gana in the defensive midfield role? look at his stats, ball recovery and tackles he leads the way by a mile, mine personally would be
Allison trent keane VVD robertson
gana Gomes sigurson and front 3 of salah richarlison and mane
that's as unbiased as i can be as a blue.

{Ed025's Note - thats a fair point johny mate..

You lost me at Keane ahead of Gomez Johnnyw, I know this thread is combined isn't about potential but I just can't see how even a non-Liverpool fan could say Gomez isn't already a superior player to Keane.

8.) 01 Dec 2018 17:39:11
On current form? 4-2-3-1.
Alisson
Coleman, Gomez, Virgil, Robertson
Milner, Wijnaldum
Richarlison, Firmino, Mane
Salah.

9.) 01 Dec 2018 19:09:38
Hello fellow Merseysiders, thought I'd get in on this too although i know one of my pics will for sure stir the hornets nest.
Alisson.
Coleman, Joe Gomez, Van Dijk, Digne.
Milner, Andre Gomes.
Mane, Sigurdsson, Richarlison.
Salah.

Subs: Pickford, TAA, Mina, Firminho,
Keane, Keita, Henderson.

Everton’s Gomes is a classy player it has to be said, got a good one there ed, will you be buying him at the end of the season do u reckon?

{Ed025's Note - barca have got us over a barrel hopeful, every game he does well in his stock is rising and the price will skyrocket im sure of that, i would love to keep him mate but have a feeling he will cost too much..

11.) 01 Dec 2018 21:08:28
He won’t be going back to Barcelona after the way he’s been treated there Ed, he was great at Valencia then seemed to be the scapegoat for every poor performance at Barca. I’m not sure who else might look to jump in on him but I don’t think the Juves, PSGs etc will so you might be ok.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right den but im afraid andre wont have much say in it mate, barca hold his contract and i fully expect them to hold us to ransom..

Den 82.
I haven’t watched much of Everton this season and Gomes was a great player, but I’m not sure you can say he was a scapegoat at Barca. He was truely poor almost every time he pulled in their shirt, and he was given plenty of chances against all standard of opposition. He looked like a rabbit dazed in the headlights. Half the time he could barely control the ball. I think Barcelona will be delighted if he progresses at Everton but I doubt they will want him back no matter how he does out on loan, it’s just not the way Barcelona seem to work and in general they are awful with their transfer business so I expect them to let Gomes go for a fraction of what they paid for him. Especially if they are trying to free up wages for a particular striker (Neymar? )

I was thinking the same, but there doesn't seem to be the same intensity off the ball with the press etc, which think I understand from this site is intentional so our players don't burn out? Arguably, it feels like city (in particular) still have more quality depth in each position allowing them to rotate more and retain a level of intensity. To qualify that, generally if our front 3 are fit in a competitive game they end to play, where as city interchange between 2 options for each position and you can't easily predict the selection. I would imagine at least Bobby would likely have been rested/ rotated if Klippers trusted Sturridge/ others, although that might change after the mighty Divock threatens to live up to his potential.! Or i'd guess in the summer window if funds allow and a few leave?
