I am sure we will end up with Ox and Garay as the two wide players lol. The rate at which we miss out on our primary targets we could easily find oil under the water.

1.) 16 Mar 2017 17:24:08
Well if we do question need to be ask because we get told it's the manager what's them and naver the owners fault.

2.) 16 Mar 2017 20:38:56
Costa or lemar for me.

Wicked left footers.

Will add pace and corners/ free kicks
Which we are seriously missing.

Liverpool scouts in Portugal to scout Danilo Pereira, the 25-year-old has scored eight goals in 51 appearances for Porto.

1.) 06 Mar 2017 10:52:35
He is the full back you told us about right ed?

{Ed002's Note - No, this is nonsense.

Porto’s defensive midfielder Danilo Pereira is a player that Arsenal looked to bring in during the summer of 2016 but they were not willing to pay anything like the asking price. So just to put this in to context, Danilo Pereira moved in the summer of 2015 for just less than €3M – the “release clause” on which the asking price was based was €40M in the summer and has now risen to a very hefty €60M after he signed a new contract in January. If Arsenal were to offer or close to that then I am pretty sure Porto will let him go. Recently Manchester United has also taken a look at Danilo.

Liverpool has not shown any interest in the player but have spoken with Porto regarding full back Ricardo Pereira who is on loan at Nice this season.}

2.) 06 Mar 2017 12:35:45
Ah right ok ed cheers mate.

01 Mar 2017 19:08:28
RB Leipzig's defensive midfielder Naby Keita is Klopp's prime target during the summer.

1.) 01 Mar 2017 22:09:47
Would be a brilliant, brilliant signing. Is it going to happen? I doubt it.

2.) 01 Mar 2017 22:27:43
He is only 22 though Harry. In your own words 23 year old Mariano is a kid. So I don't think signing toddlers like Keita will help ;)

I jest of course, Keita is a good player. Very robust player who doesn't go missing in games. Would be a good signing if your sources are sound.

3.) 02 Mar 2017 12:34:29
Less of a defensive midfielder- the guy has played a lot on the right side of midfield. Very good player though and a good replacement for Can and Lucas.

4.) 02 Mar 2017 14:18:29
think he will end up with one of the big teams in Germany, they know how to sign the better players .

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not spoken to RBL nor his representative - who was appently bemused by the idea when asked to confirm the story by a German paper. There is serious interest in him from elsewhere.}

5.) 02 Mar 2017 14:34:09
Honestly would love this to be true, the exact sort of player we need, he's been one of, if not the main contributors to Leipzig's brilliant season.

6.) 02 Mar 2017 16:35:26
Just to finish Harry's post off, I believe he meant to attribute this rumour to Goal. com, rather than implying that he has it on the Gaffer's own authority. Given the reliability of information peddled by that site, I am not surprised by Ed002's response above.

Although he may be a great signing, there appears to be no substance to the rumours at all, other than as click bait.

7.) 02 Mar 2017 19:11:40
Naby Keita is not a defensive midfielder.

8.) 02 Mar 2017 19:30:13
We need a player like him. Desperately.

24 Jan 2017 09:55:38
Liverpool in Portugal to seal a deal for William Calrvallho.

1.) 24 Jan 2017 10:59:00
I wonder if this means that Can or Hendo will ultimately be replaced as starters?
I would guess Emre might be the one to give way for Carvalho- if he joins lfc.
Hopefully a pacy wide forward can also be brought in as a long term replcement for coutinho, who I still feel will probably leave in the summer.

2.) 24 Jan 2017 11:12:07
The source for this isn't very reliable. However, it would be a decent signing if true and if we can pull it off.

3.) 24 Jan 2017 15:39:29
Hendo replaced hahah . That's a good one that is . 👌

4.) 24 Jan 2017 18:49:15
That's a cracker, replace our captain and player who makes us tick!

5.) 24 Jan 2017 19:08:52
If true, there's no doubt that it's for Can, he needs to sit on the bench for a few games and have a good long think.

Either that or its as a replacement for Lucas, in who they might have anticipated would stay until the end of the season.

6.) 24 Jan 2017 19:43:10
There is no way that Liverpool would fork out £40 million to replace Lucas. For that money he would need to be starter and not a squad player.

7.) 24 Jan 2017 20:39:56
How do we know it's 40 million?

If it IS his replacement, then I'm sure they're entitled to bring in a replacement early, instead of spending a quarter of the money as back-up on crap, but I'm not necessarily saying that it is.

Anyway, regardless, recent performances or not, if he's not prepared to risk moving Milner over to centre-mid, then he has to buy, January or not.

This is no time for kids the way the team are playing, and I think filling this position is a necessity in January, what with Can struggling, Henderson having a dodgy foot, Milner having to play out of position because we have no back-up, Lucas leaving etc etc, so we look very weak there, and opposition teams know that.

8.) 28 Jan 2017 23:07:56
Davey I couldn't agree more.

Liverpool should bring one of four in the summer:
Julian Weigl
Mohammed Dahoud
Dani Parejo

We desperately need some class in the midfield. Unless we don't replace Alonso with a similar quality we will never boss the midfield. I don't know who gets dropped or sold but you need really quality in that midfield.

1.) 07 Feb 2017 12:47:02
Replace Alsonso?

I'm sorry what year is this?

Do you mean Xabi Alonso? The player who left us 8 years ago?

2.) 07 Feb 2017 13:14:11
In defense of Harry we haven't had anyone of Alonso's class and composure in midfield since he left. If we could bring in an equivalent player it would go a long way to bringing us the title.

3.) 07 Feb 2017 13:37:47
Dahoud is a bit out of place in that list. He more akin to Lallana or Coutinho, than Alonso.

Not seen Jorginho enough to judge, but Weigl is a very good talent, though I don't think he is any better than Chirivella. Parejo is too similar to Henderson if you ask me.

I do think we should go back to a holding midfield 2, with a striker ahead of the 3 though. Looks like we may pursue Mariano in the summer to be that striker. The holding pair could very easily be Gini and Hendo though as I think they are both vastly under rated with regards to the defensive work they do. I just think they are being asked to do too much in the current system.

4.) 07 Feb 2017 14:35:47
Well in that case we need to replace Ian Rush.

5.) 07 Feb 2017 17:27:11
We never replaced Jan Molby, super sub Ronnie Rosenthal or Johnny Barnes in my eyes. Until we do we will always be in transition. Ha ha, Transition AKA Harry AKA mathematics :-)

6.) 07 Feb 2017 17:41:12
Because you can buy someone as talented as Alonso every day?

7.) 07 Feb 2017 17:58:29
We can always go back in Dr Who's time machine and try to replace these players, can't we Harry?

8.) 07 Feb 2017 18:46:18
A goalkeeper (which puts Wards place in question), a left back and a centre back.
I don't think we need a striker. Not with Sturridge and Origi. Though the problem this season is they haven't done enough to pressure Firmino or Klopp.

9.) 08 Feb 2017 07:56:29
Dahoud is nothing like Coutinho. He is more like Modric with excellent range of passing and setting the tempo. Doesn't score enough nor run enough but he pulls the strings in that midfield.

Wijnaldum will never become a holding midfielder. The people who are behind him would turn their opinion just like they are against Can. Wiji is a solid attacking midfielder with immense Strength and pace which works in his favor against the likes of Lallana. Hence he scored two bullet header due his sheer strength. Play him behind the striker not deeper. Give him license to bomb up.

We have too many attack minded player and not one disciplined holding player.

10.) 08 Feb 2017 09:29:37
Real, it is the fact that both Studge and Origi failed Klopp, is why Mane's absence loomed so large.

25 Jan 2017 09:00:14
So, Messi to City. Coutinho to Barca. Grizemann to united. Verratti to Chelsea and Emre Can at Liverpool.
Not bad!

1.) 25 Jan 2017 12:04:57
do you ever give it a rest?

What about all the other players in our team? Or is it easier to focus on one that you don't like?

Heard Kovacic is available, are you going to be saying we should sign him? Or is it Carvalho now?

I wonder if you'll ever be so excited about one of our players as you get about players we are linked with.

2.) 25 Jan 2017 13:37:46
He'd whinge even if we were fighting for the title or thereabouts 😉

3.) 25 Jan 2017 14:11:39
RedDawn, I think he`s just pulling our legs. I doubt any of those transfers will happen especially if Utd don`t make the CL and Athletic do. As for Emre, it's up to him.

4.) 25 Jan 2017 15:07:48
None of those players will be more committed to the team or put more effort in than Emre.

24 Jan 2017 14:33:05
Emre Can has been stalling over a new contract and believes he's worth more than Liverpool are offering.

1.) 24 Jan 2017 14:52:37
He's entitled to do this, I don't think it should concern the fans too much.

2.) 24 Jan 2017 15:17:08
Doesn't every player think that and every player try to negotiate the best deal for themselves?

This is just called contract negotiation and happens every day.

3.) 24 Jan 2017 16:24:42
Thank god, we need to get rid of player's that keep giving the ball away.

4.) 24 Jan 2017 19:54:43
Timmy 10 touches. He will learn

23 Jan 2017 14:08:44
How about playing Can at CB Ed01? He has no place in midfield and we are terrible at back atm. I don't rate Lovren and Klavan is simply a back up. Can couldn't do any worse than both of them. If Klopp doesn't fancy Gomez in league games then Can is a decent short term fix.

{Ed001's Note - Can was hopeless in defence. He has no positional sense back there, can't head the ball and is easily bullied, as well as lacking acceleration and having the turning circle of a bendy-bus.}

1.) 23 Jan 2017 14:31:36
Doesn't sound like the attributes of a midfielder either, where do you think he'll ultimately develop best in the side?

2.) 23 Jan 2017 15:33:28
Would Can be a suitable temporary replacement for Mane on the wing? It would also allow Lalanna move back into centre where he has shown to be much more effective.

3.) 23 Jan 2017 15:24:56
Given his form I'd guess he'll soon be developing at a different team Zimbo

4.) 23 Jan 2017 16:37:16
By next season Can will be gone in my opinion and Grujic, Chirivella, Ejaria and Stewart can come further into the first team picture.

Can is not right for our style in my opinion. He isn't mobile enough.

5.) 23 Jan 2017 16:38:04
Can? A winger?
There are few positions I would less like him to play in.

6.) 23 Jan 2017 15:24:56
Given his form I'd guess he'll soon be developing at a different team Zimbo

7.) 23 Jan 2017 16:26:07
He's not a winger. I'd put him at the base of a 4-2-3-1 myself alongside someone more mobile and defensively minded. Frees him up to surge forward if the space is there and defensive cover will ensure he's not too exposed.

Over the long term I'd hope he'll develop and become a Ballack style player but obviously a long long way to go there!

8.) 23 Jan 2017 16:45:54
He's young Ron, give him a chance maybe? The problem is that It looks like he's undroppable. So could be better on the wing and at least it allows Lalanna back into midfield.
It's the fact that he looks undroppable to Klopp so must play somewhere.

9.) 23 Jan 2017 17:02:25
I see the let's give the Young inexperienced player a starting position brigade are back

10.) 23 Jan 2017 20:01:30
A quick fix to our defense is bringing sakho back in the first team, he was looking immense at the end of last season. Even if klopp wants him gone, playing in the first team will likely attract more interest and he can rid him in the summer

11.) 23 Jan 2017 20:28:54
Bendy bus haha, that was classic, its not just the turn he seems to be doing it in slow motion sometimes, like there is a disconnect with his thought and muscle reaction. Still, he is a better footballer than me so who am i to criticise!

12.) 23 Jan 2017 21:13:02
Can on the wings or Ojo on the wings? I will have a winger on the wings than a midfielder any day.

13.) 23 Jan 2017 21:36:25
can is only effective with Hendo and Lallana with him in CM. This is where he has been more than productive this season. He`s scored goals, gotten assists and his ability to drive at teams knowing he has cover in Hendo behind him, is where he is really effective.

The problem is that with mane gone, Lallana has been playing on the right (where he is not effective) and Can and Wij (not complimentary at all) are in CM with Hendo. This is where ours and Klopp`s frustration is coming from. If Origi (which I think he can, Firmino or Studge could play on the right, that would free Lallana to play in CM and then either Can or Wij can partner Hendo in midfield. But they can`t and Klopp doesn`t trust Ojo in big games either so we are stuck. This is where the issue lies, IMO.

23 Jan 2017 10:39:34
If Ed01 is around.
Do you think we overlooked Suso? I am no bitter but he has been very good for Milan.
He has a wonderful touch and brilliant left foot. He is very similar to Silva / Coutinho except he is bit slow ( Whih silva is also ) . He would have been handy in the absence of Coutinho.

{Ed001's Note - I do think we gave up on him far too soon. It is a common problem in the UK, we give them an early couple of games then expect them to be world class by 23 or we get rid. In Italy they have an almost opposite problem as their youngsters struggle to even get a chance before they hit 23. It really needs to be looked at, we should show more patience. Suso is a very good example, as is Mark Albrighton, who Villa gave up on far too early.}

1.) 23 Jan 2017 11:22:06
Thanks mate 😊

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

2.) 23 Jan 2017 11:33:04
We didn't give up on him Rodgers did. When ever he played for the first team he never had a bad game, but Rodgers overlooked Suso in favour of Sterling's pace.

3.) 23 Jan 2017 12:20:47
There's too much pressure in England on managers. They don't get the time to let players develop, plus we stockpile too many youngsters.

4.) 23 Jan 2017 14:00:36
I always rated Suso more than sterling and Suso would fit into our team right now, kind of like a left footed Coutinho lite, sad, let's do a chelsea and buy back our own player

5.) 23 Jan 2017 15:11:18
Did we give up on him? He was offered a contract but decided it wasn't enough so chose to move. Rodgers did rate Sterling over him but Sterling rewarded him with an excellent season in 13/ 14 so I don't think you can say Rodgers got that one wrong regardless of how their respective careers have progressed. Maybe in a different world Suso was preferred and would now be in our first team but that's wild speculation.

6.) 23 Jan 2017 15:13:46
He was the perfect option to try that time Coutinho got injured for a few games, yet we went with safety first (Joe Allen) if I remember correctly and lost our creative spark. Such a shame as we could have used him now to cover for Coutinho, Llalana type role and we don't seem to have anyone obviously first team ready in that creative / wide midfielder space.

Interesting to see Woodburn play there in the u23s the other day. played well too and strikes me he might be a similar sort of player to Llalana, good energy, great passer of the ball, decent tackler and scores goals too?

7.) 23 Jan 2017 15:28:17
I agree with Zimbo. He is a better player than Lallana and he is a natural replacement for Lallana.

8.) 23 Jan 2017 21:38:46
I`ve watched Suso a lot this season at Milan and for each time he does something good, I am saddened as I say to myself, "He could have been doing that at LFC had The Genius had enough patience with him as he did with his brother from another mother, Allen". So sad.

9.) 23 Jan 2017 19:39:04
Completely agree with Ron. 100% correct.

Ed's- what's the solution then?

Managers can't give youngsters time to develop as there is always sword on their head and we can't blame them if they wanted readymade (starting 11) players than hoping to give random youngsters chance and hope they come good.

{Ed001's Note - simple, managers should be given time to build a side.}

Which looks unlikely considering Klopp loves Lovren and Klavan. We did a mistake in not buying a good player last summer when Sakho was certain to leave.
I don't see Klopp bringing players at the back at all this summer.

Can't see it happening mate. There are a host of biggies interested in the player and the lad is very young for the league imo.

I wouldn't bite the bullet on that though. I am not sure but everytimeI have seen him play he looked like a proper number 4. Just ahead of the CB's and carrying forward. If he could do a job at the back then I am happy to buy him coz he is excellent on the ball not many hard core DM ain't though.

Disagree on Emre Can's replacement criteria with you MK. We simply do not need another B2B attacking midfielder. Can was played as a DM hence his replacement should be the deepest lying midfielder.

We don't need another running midfielder MK. We have it in with Wiji and Lallana. We need a deep lying midfielder.

If both UTD and Leicester wins the EL and CL respectively then the team finishing 4th slips to EL next season. UTD have a good chance to get into the group stages if CL next season if they win the EL.

I am literally disappointed with the our targets for the summer atm. The names Boss mentioned on the podcast wouldn't improve us one bit except Brandt who is going other way.

The club have learned nothing from the past. It is a plonker idea to buy kids from other academy when you have an expensive facility with you.

There is a reason Arsenal over the years has won nothing.

Can someone explain me why are we buying sesaangon when he wouldn't start for the first team?

He is being handed a big money contract which I am sure Irish, all coz he started running 6 months ago. When he stop running he becomes the old Lallana.

Rafa Silva doesn't score enough for all the talking and skills he shows on the pitch. Another player who cut inside very much like Coutinho.

Never heard about both Malcom and Murphy but it looks like we are going the same route again. But U19's on bargain price and polish then to sell on a higher money.

I am sorry if you really want to challenge the likes of Chelsea, UTD and City next year you need much more than kids who will buckle up on pressure.

What is Klopp thinking?

We should be looking at the likes of Insigne.

I would rather harry Wilson on Ojo than kids of other clubs.

We should use the academy for cover at maximum. Not a misfit just coz you like him.
