Hi Ed's,
How true are the Rumours of West Ham targeting Benteke and Sturridge?
If Benteke is sold to them, do you see us trying to get their Star player Payet in return?

Michael Bluth

{Ed002's Note - It is true that West Ham are looking for a striker but they are looking elsewhere. Payet won't be moving to Liverpool.}

1.) 19 Mar 2016 17:34:48
Can't imagine benteke would be a target, Carroll does the job he does for them anyway, impact sub behind sakho and Valencia, eminikes on loan I think but he doesn't look too shabby for a fourth.

2.) 19 Mar 2016 19:14:36
I wouldn't want to sign him, but he has been quality this season, surely there's no argument about that.

3.) 19 Mar 2016 22:15:22
To me, there is one obvious team for Benteke no one is talking about, it's Sunderland and Big Sam if they stay up. He loves a big striker, and we should happily oblige selling Benteke to him.

4.) 19 Mar 2016 22:58:09
What about Newcastle I think he can do a good job there for Rafa.

5.) 20 Mar 2016 01:16:18
He's not a player Rafa likes "Las" when Rafa was leading Liverpool he never had a player like him. U can "maybe" argue that crouch was the same but there very different. Rafa like fast players who play off the shoulder and has the ability to take on his man and score on his own. Eg Torres, Baros, Cisse etc. Benteke isn't that he's a target man with incredible power and strength but in my opinion he lacks that drive and that ability to go it alone if you don't do all the work for him and give him it on a plate then he's not interested but that's just my opinion.

6.) 20 Mar 2016 02:36:07
I lol at Barros as "fast player who score on his own "

7.) 20 Mar 2016 07:52:32
If West Ham get inside the Top 4 ( Now looking very much possible ) They could look at Sturridge, with new stadium coming up and money being made available. As someone said above they do have Carroll for plan B. Think we ll have to wait till summer.

{Ed001's Note - this story is just crap from a local paper that was trying to get itself clicks and publicity during the transfer window. They pumped out a new ludicrous story regarding the Hammers each day and obviously some people are unable to realise when they are being taken the mick out of.}

8.) 20 Mar 2016 18:53:43
"Leek" so barros wasn't fast eh pretty sure he was he also had a goal or 2 in him wasn't brilliant but I didn't say he was just put a few names out there that was they opposite to benteke. So wind it in u pleb.

9.) 22 Mar 2016 20:11:16
Cisse was in place before Rafa and Baros was obviously there anyway,

Ed's what are the thoughts on Kolo toure and Steven Caulker?

Who do you think will stay next year? Is there any possibility of keeping Steven Caulker as a back-up CB and replacing with departing Kolo?

Michael Bluth

{Ed001's Note - Caulker? He was a huge error, Inglethorpe recommended him but he is simply not good enough and Klopp realises that, which is why he turned to Lucas at centre half, rather than look to use Caulker there. The possibility of him staying is probably about the same as the FA voiding the result of yesterday's final and awarding it to us.}

1.) 29 Feb 2016 07:40:44
For some reason I'd forgot about Caulker his signing was a massive clanger by the way thought Lucas played great.

{Ed001's Note - it was a terrible decision, I doubt Inglethorpe will be recommending anyone else he worked with back then, that's for sure!}

2.) 29 Feb 2016 08:12:21
Lucas was great yesterday, he has virtually no physical attributes, but won a lot of headers from crosses, more than I've seen any of our centre halves this season do, he was aggressive into aguero, miss timed a few tackles, but it's better than letting aguero turn and shoot. Giving aguero two chances over 120 mins, one where sakho slipped is pretty good going.

{Ed001's Note - Sakho didn't slip, it was a consequence of the clash of heads, his legs gave out under him, hence taking him off.}

3.) 29 Feb 2016 09:27:38
To be fair to Inglethorpe he also recommended Kev Stewart and he's turning out to be a bargain free transfer.

{Ed001's Note - yes but Kevin Stewart he was still working with up until he recommended him. Caulker he had not worked with in years, but still thought to recommend him, without taking into account how little progress he made.}

4.) 29 Feb 2016 11:54:50
I know Inglethorpe isn't a scout as such so my question would apply more to the people within the club who are but I'm wondering when they're hired what are their "goals" each season.

So for example Klopp is brought in with the goal of ultimately making Liverpool successful again. That's his goal and that's what he will ultimately be appraised on.

When scouts are hired I assume their goal is to essentially find good players for the team. How often are they appraised for the job they're doing?

11 Feb 2016 17:07:18
Hi Ed's
is there a possibility of Liverpool scouting and signing Leandro Damião in Summer?
thanks.

Michael Bluth

{Ed001's Note - no, why would they? If we didn't want him when all our strikers were out injured and he was available on a free, why would we sign him now?}

1.) 11 Feb 2016 17:30:44
Maybe bcos they have now decided to sell sturridge and benteke?

{Ed001's Note - I really hope that was a joke.}

2.) 12 Feb 2016 07:22:51
Well it made me laugh out loud with my morning coffee. Nearly got me caught 'working'
Damião signed for Real Betis like only about a week ago.
What a random question. Are we going to sign Adam Johnson now as well Ed, yeah? ;)

3.) 12 Feb 2016 16:20:04
Damiao was a great talent on fifa about 3 years ago, that's about it.

31 Jan 2016 16:01:04
Hi Ed's would like to check if there is a possibility to look at any back-up striker from Champion Ship.

I am talking about Jordan Rhodes.
Decent scoring record even if its in the lower league.

He could be a better Striker in place of Benteke.

Your thoughts.
Cheers.

Michael Bluth

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to happen.}

1.) 31 Jan 2016 16:55:04
I'm like most fans love a new signing and th excitement of what it could bring but for once I think the right thing to do is sign no one unless they are the quality needed and most of the names being linked to us are not what we need if we are to become a top 4 club again. Liverpool being sensible for once.

2.) 31 Jan 2016 17:32:47
People on here just want a signing no matter how average they are.

3.) 31 Jan 2016 19:46:52
He's already agreed terms with Middlesbro.

Hello Ed's
A lot of rumours of Ibe deleting all links with Liverpool FC.
Really liked Ibe but seems there is something going on which we are not aware of.
Least to say, if we loose Ibe in summer i don't think it changes anything as we have replacements in Markovic and other youngsters who could also step up (Ojo, Sergi Canos)

I would like to see these 3 given the chance to prove themselves.

Michael Bluth

1.) 12 Apr 2016 09:59:42
It's up to the young players to convince the Manager that they can perform at the level required when an opportunity arrives, through an injury, or the resting of a regular player. Origi perfect example. He has gone from Benteke understudy to first teamer through hard work and on field performance.

Enjoying the game tonight, its the first time have been so relaxed at the outcome of any of Liverpool games, Cutinho had been the best player on the pitch, Sakho is rock solid, so i Lovern.
The best thing of the Game is you can only hear Liverpool fans cheering.
The Mancs have been quite for quite some time.

Michael Bluth

1.) 17 Mar 2016 21:58:53
Personally thought can was out motm, couts was good and tbf besides clone think everyone did well.

2.) 17 Mar 2016 22:00:35
Phil and sahko bossed it!

3.) 17 Mar 2016 22:08:27
Sakho or can for me amence. both of them . but you know why? I here you say . easy because the GRASS IS BETTER THERE. 😭😭😭😂😂.

4.) 17 Mar 2016 22:17:08
Seems like a win tonight. Cutinho, sahko, loovren, even Millmer and clone were great. 😂. Can def see an improvement in our team. Saying that Utd are going to the dogs. Terrible team at the min.

5.) 17 Mar 2016 22:46:30
Maybe not clone tonight lol.

6.) 17 Mar 2016 23:49:12
Sakho motm, can closely following. Coutinho won the tie, but sakho made sure we didn't lose it!

7.) 18 Mar 2016 01:47:37
Sahko and Can are neck and neck for MOTM. He was a monster and gobbled up everything in front of him. Total boss. Can? Beast of a player.

8.) 18 Mar 2016 04:24:24
did not see the match, had to work but its not a shock to hear that redohio, 2 of my favourite players, both have been unfairly maligned esp sakho who has this bambi on ice reputation not based on facts. let's hope he can stay clear of injury now he has hit top form. As for can I truly believe he can become one of the worlds best midfielders, he has all the attributes required and now he is being coached by klopp he has every chance to fufill his potential.

Really loved the Game last night, full 120 mins, then penalties. Awesome night and an awesome experience for the Players who shall be staying at the club.

AM i allowed to say that we lost because our finishing was poor. How the hell did Origi's header didn't go in? Loved the pass by Milner to Origi even that could have been buried.

I feel its time Migs is being replaced by a better Keeper. Although he kept us in Game but he could have helped saved the 1st Goal.

07 Feb 2016 18:17:17
Hi Ed's
Do you feel that Liverpool may sign any Player paying more than £30 millions?
I am asking this because almost none of the Quality player from any League who has played in Champions league, or has won the respective league and is within the age group Liverpool usually buy, will be available for a lesser price.

Liverpool have lost many "ALMOST signed targets" in previous Transfer windows and have been almost robbed to buy substitutes eg Benteke, Markovic, Lallana, Lovern for huge money.

I still feel somewhere that not signing Alex Teixiera for almost same money we payed for Benteke/ Andy Carroll is a mistake.

Plus if we had signed him now there could be very high chance to Ship out Benteke, Sturridge in Summer. Now we need to wait until Summer to see who performs and who is to be sold and again who is AVAILABLE and can be bought.

Your thoughts.

Michael Bluth

{Ed002's Note - It is not the amount a player costs but his capability to improve the squad and how he fits in with the squad.}

1.) 07 Feb 2016 18:36:10
Yeah, because the table topping players a Leicester all cost mega bucks Michael.
They are proof that its not the amount a player costs, but precisely what he addsto the team.
Okazaki cost over 7 times what Vardy did, but Vardy plays ahead of him. Cost is irrelevant and simply an expensive fashion amongst Europe's elite.

2.) 07 Feb 2016 19:23:32
Right now in the PL, it doesn't matter how many good players u have or how much you spend, if you don't have a group that works well with each other, fights, competes and help one another, you will struggle mightily. Se the City vs Leicester game and you'll see what I mean. Talented players are great but if they add next to nothing to the team, they might as well not be on the pitch. For us, we need a group of players who will fight for each other on the pitch more than anything else because teams don't outplay us, they outwork, outfight and are more committed to the cause than we are. Some of our players don't have the stomach for a fight and like any sport, if u don't have heart and mental toughness, your talent is worthless.

Hi Ed's what makes more sense, buying a New Striker for over 10-15 Million or paying of Loan fee for Markovic and bringing him right back and play Firmino or even Markovic as Striker?
Looking at Markovic's form eve if its in a lesser league, makes me think he desevres atleast half a season chance before being kept/ sold.

Michael Bluth

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has plenty of strikers and cannot force Markovic to return. Markovic's agent is looking for options of a new club for him for next season, but Fenerbahce would like to make the loan permanent. With Benteke, Firmino, Origi, Sturridge, Sinclair and Ings with Yesil, Balotelli and Awoniyi to return from loan plus, no doubt, youngsters, I am not so sure they should be looking to add yet another player to their overly bloated squad. Plus the money would be an issue as the club would be plunged in to yet more debt.}

1.) 16 Jan 2016 17:35:39
I'm not even sure markovic has a league goal, think he has one in the cup. Not slating him by hardly think he's a perfect candidate for playing up front.

2.) 16 Jan 2016 18:24:28
What is this sudden love in with Marko. He was never ready and should never have been bought. He's been messed about by the club and wants to leave with Fernebahce ready to buy and him willing to resurrect his career over there. Cut bait and we move on. Where's the beef?

3.) 16 Jan 2016 22:22:51
Didn't he score against Sunderland last season.

4.) 16 Jan 2016 23:58:37
I agree with Ed002, we need to sell before we add.

I'd sell Benteke immediately, if we can get a good price.

If not, then in the summer absolutely.

I agree with Macca -- Benteke has been a major mistake. And unlike Firmino-- who has come to a new country, league, culture, language, style of football and should be given time to adjust-- Benteke has been playing in the EPL for years. Part of his big price was that he was "EPL ready". Problem, he never fit, does not fit, and never will fit. Sell Benteke.

I'd also be open to selling Sturridge in the summer, if he is unable to string together a decent set of games and stays fit for the remainder of the year. If it's 2 on, 7 off, 2 on, etc, he should be sold.

But if we sell Sturridge, the money should be used for an actual top class striker that actually fits our style of attack and can link creatively with our best attackers Coutinho and Firmino-- a Lacazette, Auba, Icardi, Bacca, Tevez, -- not necessarily these, but player in that style/ caliber.

5.) 17 Jan 2016 02:55:29
Let me amend one part of my post: I appreciate that we have few fit strikers, so selling Benteke now would be a big risk.

So, then we sell him in the summer. 100%.

6.) 17 Jan 2016 03:29:18
Bacca was there to be signed and fits exactly the way we play but again, BR messed up and got us Benteke and we may now have a new Andy Carroll situation again.

7.) 17 Jan 2016 05:09:11
Yeah, I honestly still cannot for the life of me understand why Rodgers wanted Benteke.

After his move on Carroll it makes absolutely no sense. Of course, Benteke is better than Carroll, but they're essentially the same style player, with the same needs to succeed.

It's like by the end, Rodgers didn't even have a clue about how his own team played and attacked.

Being tired can affect the performance a lot.
I watched the whole game, In my opinion the energy in first 20 mins was enough to KILL the game. But as time passed we could see the Europa Hangover and game being stretched.

I really hope Milner can be new Kyut. Only issue i see with Milner is his ball control is not good.

I was hoping for Allen to get a start or replacement for Lallana in second half.

As said by Manager in one of the very first interviews that "players need to have vision, they should look around to pass the ball"
Most of the key passes made by Ibe were intercepted by Swansea.

And we cannot ignore the bad weather that affected all his deliveries into the box.
It was indeed boring to watch the game after first half but vital 3 points and 6 points behind the Leaders. Hope the gap reduces further by end December.

Michael Bluth

{Ed001's Note - Kuyt's ball control was not good either.}
