Hi eds i've read on a few pages that Lemar still wants to join us (I take what they say with a pinch of salt as they are very rarely correct with their info) I was just wondering if it is planned for us to renew our interest in either January or next summer or is it to early to say? Also in your opinion do you think we still need to add him to our squad after adding Chamberlain and the arrival of Keita next summer? Thanks in advance.

NE_red

{Ed001's Note - too early to say what will happen in January or next summer but we only really need him to replace Coutinho.}

1.) 03 Sep 2017 20:00:02
Thanks for the reply ed001 I'm guessing it all depends on Coutinhos attitude when he comes back and whether he knuckles down and plays his heart out or if he kicks up a fuss about not being able to move to Barca.

{Ed001's Note - a lot does certainly.}

Hi eds was wondering apart from luke garbett before he signed a contract do we have any interest in a left back. I feel Moreno needs some competition for his place and Enrique just isn't good enough.

NE_red

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

1.) 19 Jul 2015 15:17:49
Digne maybe

{Ed002's Note - No.}

2.) 19 Jul 2015 16:48:03
Do you think we may use one of the u21 players to be used as competition?

{Ed002's Note - Or Gomez or Can at LB, or Markovic or Lallana at LWB?}

3.) 19 Jul 2015 16:48:36
Maybe Gomez?

4.) 19 Jul 2015 17:16:19
On this subject, is Enrique leaving? I saw something on the 'this is Anfield' Facebook page saying he was on his way out. Not sure on the reliability but was hoping the eds had some information on this?

{Ed002's Note - Try asking on Facebook or Twitter.}

5.) 19 Jul 2015 17:42:00
Haha should have expected that but to be fair if you are aware of the Facebook group I am talking about, they do tend to try and report relatively accurate information. The Facebook page is just a way of sharing from their actual website. But yea I agree and didn't expect it to be true. Thanks Ed

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of Facebook aside from their being an Ed002 Appreciation Society (which I have never seen) - www.facebook.com/pages/Ed002-Appreciation-Society/295138177203666

But we are not here to answer questions about stuff you see on Facebook or Twitter or whatever.}

6.) 19 Jul 2015 19:44:26
What about flanagan? Before getting injuried he looked ok at LB and always gave 100% can you see him being used when he recovers or not? Thanks

{Ed001's Note - when/if he recovers, he will need to get back to form first. That is almost certainly not this season.}

7.) 19 Jul 2015 21:40:37
I'm telling you Ed, Neil Taylor ;)

12 Jun 2015 22:04:15
celta have agreed a deal to take aspas back to the club eds do you kno if this is a permanent deal or a loan deal

NE_red

{Ed001's Note - I believe it is permanent. Supposedly they sold him straight on. It is odd that Celta did not just buy him from us. I am guessing there must be someone at Celta Vigo they want in return.}

1.) 12 Jun 2015 22:58:18
Apologies Ed, who has bought him and where has gone from being sold?

{Ed001's Note - Sevilla turned the loan into a permanent deal then immediately flogged him to Celta Vigo.}

2.) 13 Jun 2015 00:39:34
Perhaps because they could sell him on for more than the agreed "loan-to-buy" fee thus making a profit?

3.) 13 Jun 2015 00:30:52
Probably want santi mina. I imagine a lot of clubs would be after that young man.

4.) 13 Jun 2015 01:16:50
That's a weird one. Did he do a David Unsworth and declare he had made the wrong move 1 hour after the press conference.

5.) 13 Jun 2015 05:08:49
We had agreed a deal with Sevilla earlier in the season.
Presumably Sevilla felt they couldn't get out of it so struck a deal with Celta.
I don't know what money exchanged hands though???

6.) 13 Jun 2015 10:43:54
Didn't Aspas say there was an obligation to buy at the end of his loan, if he didn't really perform but they had to buy then this is their best outcome.

7.) 14 Jun 2015 15:46:11
didn't Aspas say Sevilla were obligated to make the move permanent according to the loan agreement. he made an interview early on when the season ended that he was sure his move to Sevilla would permanent.

{Ed002's Note - Sevilla paid the fee due to Liverpool and sold him right on - this was always a likely scenario - try the search engine.}

18 May 2014 19:35:49
Hi eds noticed recently we have been linked with alexis sanchez what a signing he would be. I tried the search engine nd it said we haven't showed interest for a while with him being available and meeting the criteria of what br is after do you think we might show an interest in him soon?

NE_red

{Ed002's Note - He will no doubt be one of several hundred players joining Liverpool before the transfer window opens. If Liverpool are interested, he is available. There has already been talks with another club about him (Juventus) and Arsenal have made a tentative approach. Liverpool haven't.}

15 May 2014 21:29:51
Evening eds do we hold any interest in dusan tadic? From what I have seen of him he looks a hell of a player and I was hoping we would sign him when he was at gronigen.

NE_red

{Ed002's Note - Roma, Dortmund, Barcelona, Everton and Schalke showed interest in Dusan Tadic in the past. His agent says Liverpool have rekindled their interest from last summer and Galatasaray remain interested but a move is unlikely.}

The way we play reminds me of Bayern Munich under Jupp Heynckes in his final season when they destroyed teams with robben and ribery on the wings playing fast direct football. It might just be me.

NE_red

1.) 27 Aug 2017 18:27:19
Exactly, I hope Klopp will stay with us for years to come.

21 Aug 2017 20:05:52
Who was the better manager in your opinion Shankley or Paisley? Would like to hear peoples thoughts.

NE_red

1.) 21 Aug 2017 20:14:40
Paisley. But come on Shanks is the absolute God of this football club and made it all happen mate.

2.) 21 Aug 2017 20:21:24
Shankly was the founding father of modern day LFC.

Bob was the greatest club manager EVER.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 20:23:41
Why does it matter
They were both greats
No need to compare and rate one against the other.

4.) 21 Aug 2017 20:51:56
Thats like saying which tabit do you prefer to tune in, the left or the right.

5.) 21 Aug 2017 22:39:41
Both would sit astride the current bunch of third rate, ego maniac millionaire managers like giants.

If that makes sense.

Paisley was, I believe a reluctant genius.

6.) 22 Aug 2017 01:59:57
Couldn't easily choose between them but my vote ould go to Shankly he is like our inston Churchill ith his quips. ithout him the club would not of reached the heights we were able to. Although Paisley was perhaps more successful Shanks laid the foundations with Paisley as his assistant and perhaps in Paisleys case to quote Sir Isaac Newton; "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. "

7.) 22 Aug 2017 06:23:41
Paisley inherited an aging side with internal conflict due to Shanks being reluctant to demote his favourite players (one of his few weaknesses) . Paisley bought well, reinvigorated the side, was ruthless when needed and tactically was superior. Shanks was a superior "salesman" (which Liverpool needed in the early 70s) but in most respects, Paisley was a better manager. IMHO He would be one of the best managers the world of football has seen.

8.) 22 Aug 2017 13:53:06
In the words of Paisley himself "Shankly built the house, I just furnished it".

9.) 22 Aug 2017 16:27:05
Without Shankly there is no Paisley and without Paisley there is no situation to praise Shankly's legacy. I don't think it is possible to put one above the other.

What result are people hoping for in the Manchester Derby tonight? Either a draw or Man city win for me as City have an easier run in nd if utd drop points tonight they also have some other tough games coming up which they could drop more points.

NE_red

1.) 27 Apr 2017 20:06:01
1) city win

17) draw

193) united win.

2.) 27 Apr 2017 20:54:28
I think a United win is better for us, but I despise them, so I want them to get tanked 5-0.

Doesn't seem like that's happening though.

3.) 27 Apr 2017 21:01:30
Zed. Explaine dem numbers, I've had a few!?

4.) 28 Apr 2017 09:13:40
Did a bit of analysis in a post a couple of days ago that with a draw, both city and united could catch us - city with one more point than our potential 78 points, and United on tge same points, so it will come down to goal difference between us and united for 4th place.

If united win, both teams can pass us, albeit we will be on gD with city.

If City had won, it could still be in our hands as we would have higher potential points then united.

Hence, big preference for city win, less so for draw, and defe didn't want United win, not least as I hate Maureen!

Have we retired the number 8 jersey? I thought Henderson may have got it with him being named the new captain. Also any idea when the away strip will be unvailed?

NE_red

1.) 15 Jul 2015 22:30:10
I think its at 6pm brisbane time tomorrow

2.) 15 Jul 2015 22:41:12
16th and no we haven't retired the number 8 shirt

3.) 15 Jul 2015 23:12:30
Think i read the away strip is tomorrow.

4.) 16 Jul 2015 06:13:34
Dude, pretty sure Reus will wear the No8 jersey this season.

5.) 16 Jul 2015 08:27:14
God liverpress you've definitely started another conspiracy in the fact that the number 8 hasn't been filled which obviously means we're signing a "worldie" to stick on the back

20 Jun 2015 12:16:08
Another signing we did not need why spend 3.5 million on a defender when we already have some good young defenders at liverpool? Has anyone seen Gomez play and will he prove to be a good buy in the long run?

NE_red

1.) 20 Jun 2015 15:57:53
Pointless, really. We have no plan for him like we have no plan for the other young defenders like Ilori, Wisdom, Coates, Jones and the rest.

I have a feeling both Salah and Firmino might be rested for sturridge and the ox with Coutinho coming in for Mane. Hope I'm wrong as I have both Firmino and Salah in my dream team haha.

NE_red

{Ed001's Note - isn't dream team a S*n thing?}

Thanks Macca appreciate you sharing what you have heard. Those signings are exactly what we need I'm even warming to the idea of AOC as it would add abit more experience and depth to our squad.

Thanks for the reply ed i agree we should go all out to secure our top targets at left back as that is quite cleary our main position of concern.
I do also quite like Salah if we manage to get him especially if he shows the form he has produced in Italy.
I do think a top centre back is required although i'm not sure VVD is the answer.

What is wrong with Klavan and Lovren? Do you watch any Liverpool games? Klavan has about as much pace as a 3 legged Donkey and Lovren makes errors every game and is a penalty/ red card waiting to happen. As for them being improved on at their age I really can't see them getting any better.

I'll be disappointed we haven't brought in a creative player if Couts leaves surely klopp can't be expecting Ox to take his place.

I can't believe we didn't seek out an alternative after Southampton made the complaint. Surely there has to be another cb available who also fits the way we play.

It might just be me but I can't see Emre leaving he looks as though he is really enjoying his football and is playing for a team who are in the champions league and will be challenging for honours. Also the form he is in it looks like he'll be in the 1st team for the foreseeable future.

Id be very happy if we manage to bring those 3 players in although I'm abit sceptical as to whether we will or not. As long as we get a cb and atleast 1 of the other 2 this window will have been quite a successful 1.
