Have been hearing that the manager for De Jong was in London and has been to the LFC office, apparently we are putting in a bid for him.

I think both end up at Chelsea.
I don't know much about him but I reckon there is better value out there and I just don't see us buying another player for that amount or add another on his crazy wages.

It’s actually annoying me now all the speculation over midfield yes we want Bellingham and can’t get him until next year (if we even get him) but the midfield has been lacking for 2 possibly 3 seasons .
Thiago is unreal when fit ( misses too many games)
Fab on top form is best in the league in that position (has been poor by his own standards for 12-18 months )
Hendo great leader (but his levels have dropped also)
Milner A for effort (but not as mobile anymore but always gives 100%)
Naby is naby and not sure many fans actually rate naby
The ox has had rotten luck IMO as he was brilliant then had that injury and the team progressed without him and. He got left behind and just became a bit part
Curtis Jones has so much potential but is yet to fulfil it (problem being I don’t think we yet know his best position which is worrying at his age )
Harvey what a baller he could be . Has vision like no other in the midfield .
We definitely have the numbers for midfield but I feel the club have stood still in this department in the name of continuity and unity to its own detriment. We need high energy player with the ability to break play and get around the pitch at speed to help at both ends and I thinkbb no that has been blatant for 2 seasons now
Sorry for the long detailed message but it’s done my head in and continues to do so now the club are scrambling last minute to get someone in . Not good enough for a top of the table challenger IMO.

I think the main problem for me in midfield is the age profiles. Have a few 30, fab Naby and ox 28-30. Have no midfielder 23-27. No one with some experience, coming into their prime, full of energy. Strange squad building in my opinion, especially for a team built around pressing and winning second balls. Hopefully we can get one in now to start the midfield rebuild, otherwise imagine we’ll be needing a few new faces at once into that area of the pitch next summer to replace Ox, Milner, Naby. With Thiago and Hendo’s roles likely to diminish in the not too distant future.

I don’t disagree with the point re addressing the midfield, but. when and with what money, taking into account cv, we spent well on defence and gk, then we needed winger and forward in which paid good money for them.
We only just got and yet to see the cover option for Trent, we’ve got some great youth coming through, yes a number have been purchased because we need them.
So I cannot understand where this money for a top or just below top Dm/ cm was meant to come from before this summer guy’s.
Maybe we’ll get a cm in this window, then great, obviously JK and team are aware of the need, so it’ll happen when it can.

I'm just saying we should Rambo. And I don't think he is good enough now nor does he have the potential to be. When you compare Jones to Elliott and Carvalho, they are on completely another level. Regardless of what league Sucic plays in, he is a better talent than Jones. The fact he is younger only makes him a more attractive prospect as he is already a better player than Jones.
Curtis Jones is this decade's Jonjo Shelvey.

I don’t see how the opinion can be even out there that Jones isn’t good enough. He’s hardly played enough via injury to warrant a current opinion let alone what his potential could be. Klopp seems to like him and that’s good enough for me, misguided opinions on Keita aside of course.

West, it’s a massive season though for Jones, would you agree? He is taking up a valuable spot in the squad but doesn’t play. Then when he does often he doesn’t effect games. I like him but we can’t keep making excuses for him.

I agree with everything you said Dhfc. What does my head in is that issues are clear to all and sundry way before anyone at the club seems to act on them. Then as a result, we end up in this panic mode position and usually have to pay way over the odds for players as we left it too late to act.
