I'm halfway through a podcast with one our former academy players Henoc Mukembi who came in at a similar time to Sterling, Coady, etc. Listening to this lads story it sounds like he was treated appallingly by the club. Obviously it's only his side but the treatment he received from Alex Inglethorpe sounds awful. I'd recommend you guys search for it on YouTube. Are any of the Ed's aware of similar stories on our handling of youth players?

In what way was he allegedly treated badly?

There's a lot of negativity the last few days. So we didn't find a winner against Chelsea we got a point against the current European Champions who even City haven't been able to beat since Tuchel took over. They will more than likely be the champions this year so a point is a decent result. 2 wins and a draw is a good start to the season.
As for no further additions this year, we've added a centre back which was a massive problem last year. Big Virg is back and him and Matip are looking a good partnership. Centre mid could do with strengthening but we have plenty of options there to compete. If Elliot and Jones can get game time this season then I'm all for not spending money we don't have. No big names have gone which was always a massive problem for us. I used to hate transfer windows with the potential for our stars to be snapped up. Now we have a team full of them and they all stay.
The club has to be sustainable. Leveraging player fees against future earnings is not a sustainable model. We had to sell to buy and we couldn't achieve that but we'll still be in with a fighting chance. I honestly can't think of a transfer that has happened this year that I was gutted we didn't get them.
The fans are back in the ground, we have an amazing Champions League group. It's going to be a good season lads let's get behind the team and enjoy it.

Don't go being all sensible now, don't ye know because we drew with Chelsea that the season is over because utd and Chelsea bought players and we stood still 🙄.

2.) 30 Aug 2021 12:19:25
The truth is somewhere in the middle of course. Mistakes have been made recently. We had decent offer for Origi last summer but held out for more. We didn't replace Lovren knowing that Joe and Joel are prone to injuries. We then didn't have a CB lined up on Jan 1st (we were in the title race at this point) and it took until Feb 1st to get Kabak and Davies in. By Feb 1st the title was gone.

Re-signing Adrian is again an odd one. If he was HG it would have made a tad more sense.

We've made an excellent signing in Konate and probably made the right business choice to not re-sign Gini on a big contract. All the other big stars are getting locked down with new contracts.

I think we all agree, we need two signings in. A midfielder and a forward. Let's see what happens in the next 36-odd hours.

Perhaps there's also a bit of panic amongst fans about whether Klopp is going to be given the chance to leave a legacy for the next manager. If we sign nobody else this summer he'll have to build a new team in 2 windows - which is a tough ask, even for Klopp.

3.) 30 Aug 2021 12:45:14
Unfortunately NYR the only enjoyment some seem to get from the game is the opportunity to slag players, the club in general and the owners.
Supporters will get behind the team without thinking about it.
Glory seekers are only interested in winning and immediately start throwing the toys out of the pram if it doesn't happen. The concept of support is alien to them, and I see plenty of it on here.

4.) 30 Aug 2021 12:48:44
I can’t see us signing anyone at this late point in the window as the prices will be exorbitant as clubs need to find replacements. The only players readily available at this point are ones that clubs want shot of, which doesn’t imply quality (Balotelli for example) .

5.) 30 Aug 2021 13:03:45
Pelican, I have no idea where people draw these hilarious conclusions from. If we had made signings last season then directly things would be different. How people come up with this conclusions, is beyond me. Must be the English mentality that states that if you don’t win a game, it’s cos you didn’t sign this or that player cos clearly, it has nothing to do with tactics, formation, brilliance if the opposition etc. None of that. Oh, my days 🙄.

So let me ask you this: Had we sold Origi this season, would that have translated into an automatically win vs a more than formidable Chelsea team? Would flogging off Adrian (a GK, btw) changed anything on Sat? And had we signed a CB to replace Lovren, would that have prevented the other 3 CB’s from getting injured the way they did esp VVD last season? Seriously, I really like to know.

6.) 30 Aug 2021 13:35:07
Replacing Lovren last summer would have meant we had 1 centreback rather than none. We might have then not played United and City with Fabinho and Hendo at CB. So I’d say our chances would have improved.

Replacing Origi last summer would have meant that we had an option after Jota was our for months whilst Salah and Mane couldn’t hit a barn door Jan-Feb. I’d say our chances would have improved.

Having an Origi replacement would have allowed Klopp to replace Mane on Saturday when it was needed. I’d say our chances would have improved.

7.) 30 Aug 2021 15:09:58
Pelican, so let me explain to you what your logic is missing. Had we bought that CB, he would have been 4th choice hence, of lower quality hence, would not get game time so if he did come on and play, he would have needed time to get up to speed and would have made mistakes as well costing us games, just like Rhys did till he got better. Phillips would have been gone had a 4th choice cane in cos that was the plan so he wouldn’t have even been here either. See how that works?

Also had we gotten a 4th CB, he would have been playing every game every three days which would have led to fatigue or poor play or even, injury. Did you factor in any of these scenarios or you think reality cares what you think?

On Origi, you can’t force someone to leave just cos you think they are crap and need to go. There are contracts that need to be respected and to terminate them are not easy hence why they are rarely done. If it was that easy then why is Phil Jones still at Utd? Or Ozil stayed that long at Arsenal and not playing?

Also there is absolutely NO guarantee that had Origi’s replacement been here, he would have changed anything during that Sat. game. NONE whatsoever. You can paint all types of scenarios and create all types of fantasies in your head as much as you want BUT there are NO guaranties in football, neither is it an exact science. Cheers, mate.

Love the guy don't get me wrong but is anyone else getting a little tired of Klopp moaning in every press conference? It's a tough season, we've been unlucky but just get on with it. Can't help but think his out of character negativity could be contributing to the performances.

NorthYorkshireRed

1.) 05 Feb 2021 20:47:32
It's not helping. But all great managers were sore losers. How we can't get points from the bottom 6 sides even with injuries is beyond me.

2.) 05 Feb 2021 21:00:06
You beat me to it North Yorkshire Red, i was about to post the exact same thing. Whatever happened to the cheeky charismatic coach we used to have.

3.) 05 Feb 2021 21:32:24
Let’s hope he doesn’t turn into Moaninho😂.

4.) 05 Feb 2021 21:32:35
Its just frustration, its not uncommon from any manager that's used to winning. People read too much into what they say.

5.) 05 Feb 2021 21:35:12
Agreed Mark. You can't beat the likes of Spurs away then struggle to break down Brighton at home, makes no sense. Its up to the team to find a way. Anyway, no doubt we will now go and beat City 3-1 🤔.

6.) 05 Feb 2021 21:40:36
This site is in danger of sounding like a ladies powder room with girls moaning about their boyfriend.

7.) 05 Feb 2021 21:42:22
He is only human finally his happy go lucky demeanour has given way a bit, it has only been what 20 odd years in management, finally taken it’s toll? Yes it annoys me too by the way but I can forgive him.

8.) 05 Feb 2021 21:44:49
Ferguson was the master at it and did it very well. It didn’t go so well for Benitez when he tried it. I must admit klopp doesn’t seem he’s normal self but these are not normal times. Am not adverse to the odd moan myself and am sure eds1 can vouch for that.

9.) 05 Feb 2021 22:17:14
My girlfriend does plenty of moaning at home, thank you very much.

{Ed001's Note - she must have taught you everything you know then mate!}

10.) 05 Feb 2021 22:27:07
I love him, I hate him I love him, I hate him.

11.) 05 Feb 2021 22:46:34
I don’t see it. I see the media as they always do try to create he just pished off probably more by some people not having a clue and just posting sheite for a couple of thumbs up! Who needs mancs and blues when we got some of you lot.

12.) 05 Feb 2021 22:53:04
Every manager complains. Klopp is no different to most. Ignore it, it means nothing.

13.) 05 Feb 2021 23:49:15
We're like the Liverpool of 2-4 seasons ago: doing well against "top 6" and not getting points off the bottom teams. Thought we'd put that to bed last couple of seasons. United are yet to beat a top 6 team and they're second. We've beaten spurts twice, arsenal, chelsea and drawn w Manc clubs. If we have a 3 players back in this weekend we'll beat city too.

14.) 05 Feb 2021 23:51:06
Were not allowed to say anything negative about Kopp on here, everything he does is perfect.

{Ed0666's Note - in the spirit of free speech please feel free to criticize Mr Klopp mate. I promise I won’t censor you. But please make you’re argument compelling because believe me if it isn’t you’ll get destroyed.

15.) 06 Feb 2021 02:54:27
not really. I'm never too fussed by what managers and players say. My sense is that others' insecurities are triggered by what is said in the media.

16.) 06 Feb 2021 07:12:32
To be fair Mighty Reds, I didn't think you were normally on here, more passing your "wisdom" onto the Utd fans 😉.

17.) 06 Feb 2021 07:21:47
Here we go again with our famous fickle supporters.
So we are in a bit of a rut. and everyone is turning on Klopp.

Yes he's not perfect, no-one is.

But here's a thought, support us in the good times and the "not so good times".

If Klopp has something to say, then let him say it. just because it runs some people the wrong way, then that's their problem.

If Klopp said nothing, I'm sure you would probably complain about that as well.

I won't agree with everything he does or says, but I'm sure he is trying everything he can to turn this rut around and I believe he'll get it right.

18.) 06 Feb 2021 07:48:32
The way he's built this team in his time here is AS CLOSE to perfect as possible! Lfcfans should have very very little negative to say about Jurgen Klopp.

19.) 06 Feb 2021 09:24:50
We have a great squad, it's just getting them back to firing on all cylinders.

20.) 06 Feb 2021 11:52:04
It does not look good, I agree but people like to pigeon-hole managers and put them in a box, imo. Klopp arrived as this fresh, happy go lucky guy and the media loved it. While doing that, they made it look like regardless of circumstance, he should not b allowed to moan about anything ever which I find hilarious.

Fergie, Mou, Pep were/ are ALL moaners when things get sticky and people allowed that and in fa t, some called it a show of competitiveness and emotion YET when Klopp does it, it is frowned upon? Top managers are moaners. Get used to it. Nothing else to see here.

21.) 06 Feb 2021 12:44:51
He is being the bad guy to take the public pressure off the players.

27 Dec 2020 19:41:50
Disappointing result but still top with a long way to go. The title is ours to lose. Probably the injuries but we seem to be returning to the Liverpool of old that throws away silly points while stepping up for the big teams. Can't see where the competition is going to come from though, everyone has been inconsistent this season.

NorthYorkshireRed

1.) 27 Dec 2020 20:52:19
Frustrating performance in the second half NYR. City are starting to grind out the wins. The competition will come from there. The most disappointing thing is that there seems to be a attitude issue vs the “weaker” sides. Fulham and Villa were similar stories. This has to be rectified.

2.) 27 Dec 2020 21:17:05
The worry for me is too many draws against mediocre teams.

04 Oct 2020 21:19:37
Well that was embarrassing. Villa have put together a decent side with a strong attack this season and we have looked capable of conceding in every game so far. This could be a positive for us and it could give the whole team a wake up call. Only Everton have have a had a stronger start than us this season and I doubt they can sustain it over the course of the season. Better to get this hammering over with early in the season and stop any complacency creeping in. Mane and Allison are huge misses for us and Thiago also. Onwards lads the title is still ours to lose.

NorthYorkshireRed

1.) 04 Oct 2020 21:27:13
Adrian in goal for the Everton game hope they null n void it now 😂.

Ed002, who would typically have to the TMS? Is it something you could access with a membership fee or is it a closed system that only people involved in football are given log in details?

{Ed002's Note - It is not available to the general public.}

Some fans have very short memories. Diaz was injured for much of last season. He’s had around 2 months of football and then has parents were kidnapped. Have some patience with the lad.

Guys seriously we need to stop talking about finances. Most of as will never understand it. There’s clearly a difference between how a fee is paid to the selling club and how amortisation of the cost of an asset works in accounting. All most of us know about football finances is roughly what amount a club spends on players and what they receive when selling. Then papers and pundits bang on about net spend which is different to profit and loss. If Chelsea were doing anything wrong there’s no way the other clubs wouldn’t be kicking up a fuss. We don’t have the information and if we did we probably wouldn’t understand it anyway. There’s a reason the accountants get paid a fortune.
Let’s get back to the days of rumours like my mates neighbour saw Ken Aguero arrive in a private helicopter in a nearby field. They were simpler times ?.

Ed002 I would love to know what you do for a living. Your knowledge on football transfers, finances, alluding to access to the TMS, etc. obviously you can’t tell me and I’m not asking you to btw, you’re just an intriguing chap. Thanks for your efforts every window.

Aside from players like Messi and Ronaldo there’s always a debate whether a player is world class or not. Trent, at only 25, is only like 5 assists of being in the top 20 of all time assists in Premier League history. If he carries on generating the same numbers it’s not out of the question for him to break into the top 10 maybe even top 5. For a full back that is ridiculous. His range of passing is phenomenal, on par with most of the best midfielders currently playing. His free kick ability is pretty decent and his long range shooting ability is good as well. His defending may not be his strongest asset but it is no where near as bad as pundits and fans make it out to be. In my opinion world class is being a standout in your position and would likely play in most teams in the world over what they have there. I can’t think of many clubs where he doesn’t walk into the side. If he played in Spain generating the same numbers every football fan would saying how amazing he is.

Finally found someone else that thought Busquets was overrated. I honestly think if he was taken out of the Barcelona system, away from Xavi, Iniesta and Messi and he looks pretty average. Fabinho was a good player and did well for us, stick him in that Barcelona team and he looks a world beater.
