Hi Eds,

Thanks as always for all the hard work you do!

A quick question though. Assuming that Sterling will indeed be leaving this summer. Have we, or anyone else, shown any interest in Timo Werner?

Any response would be greatly appreciated!

Notorious L.F.C.

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware we have shown no interest in him. As for any other interest, that would be best dealt with on the Eurosoccer pages mate.}

Hi Ed002,

I used the search function on Lacazette and found a post where you said that if we were to sign him, then Origi would not happen. Considering Remy is no longer an option do you think that is possible we will sign both or do you stand by your original comment?

Thanks again for your hard work!

Notorious L.F.C.

{Ed002's Note - Origi is one for next year - don't expect him plus Remy or anyone else to both be available this year. Lacazette might be an option. Huntelaar might be an option. Keeping Borini might be an option.}

Hi Eds,

I posted this question in a much cheesier manner the other day in the hope for a legitimate answer but, it seems to have found its way over to the other banter page. I have used the search function and have found nothing on whether or not we have shown any interest in Kurzawa, the left back from Monaco. Is he available and have we shown any interest?

Thanks!

Notorious L.F.C.

{Ed002's Note - Others have shown an interest, but not Liverpool.}

Hi Eds, what's going on with Jovetic at City? He's barely getting game time, is there any chance we've shown an interest?

Thanks in advance!

Notorious L.F.C.

{Ed001's Note - he has been ill and injured.}

Hi Eds,

I was just wondering if we had shown any interest in Ander Herrera of Bilbao or indeed any of their players?

Also, is it true that Bilbao can only sign/recruit players from the Basque region of Spain?

Cheers! {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. And with few exceptions they sign only Basque players.}

Just want to say a big thanks to Ed002 for all the info today. It has been a truly brilliant read. Ed002 is not the hero that we deserve, but the one that we need!

{Ed002's Note - You are very sweet.}

Hi Eds and Reds,

After the phenomenal window we've had so far, a lot of people on this site still believe that we need another striker. To an extent I would agree. I think that our other striker is Origi, but in order for us to get him on the cheap, we loaned him back to Lille for the year. This also makes a bit of sense because it will give him more playing time than he may have had with us. However, it does leave us a little short for this year.

In my opinion then I would sign either a striker on loan or get an oldie on a one year contract. Now for this reason someone like eto'o makes sense (although his wages are absurd), but I'm not sure he is the best option out there. In my opinion, if I could pick one striker to take for just a year it would be Tevez. Now I'm sure some people will crucify me for saying this, but he's hungrier, younger and better than eto'o whilst still matching the requirements of an older player with plenty of champions league experience.

So I guess my question is, if you disagree with me, who would you pick as our striker and why?

Would love to hear your thoughts (especially you Ed001).

{Ed001's Note - if we can't sign someone like Bony, I fail to see the point in buying or loaning someone like those. Just give the kids a chance. Look at how well we did last season taking a chance on Flanno and Sterling to hold down important roles in the team.}

I would just like to say that whatever the reason for Remy not signing, it shows that we are being sensible. If it was because he failed his medical, then I'm glad we did not sign a player on high wages who could blow out his knee and earn his extortionate paycheck on the sidelines. Conversely, if it is because of Borini wanting to stay and fight for his place, then I am glad we are being wary of the FFFP and making sure we have money before spending it.

On a follow up note as to what we will do instead. Personally, I hope we keep Borini, as although some posters do not rate him I think he will be an excellent squad player. However, I also agree that we would need another striker in case of an injury to Sturridge. My opinion, and remember this is only my opinion, is that it would be good for us to sign a striker on loan for a year. That way we have a stop gap until we can start blooding Origi. Now the problem with this is obviously finding a quality striker who we could sign on loan for a season and while I cannot think of anyone who perfectly fits the bill, I would not be opposed to someone like Tevez or the 50 year-old Eto'o. They are experienced and would be happy being squad players, but also still have some pace to burn and can find the back of the net on occasion. I know we have looked at Huntelaar and while I do like him I feel that he is too similar to Lambert to be worth splashing the cash on.

Eds and reds, your thoughts and opinions?

Hi Eds and Reds,

I haven't posted in a while but I thought I'd throw my two pence in about our transfer activity thus far.

First of all, I believe we are fortunate enough to have a manager who is capable of realising what any player needs to improve and giving him the encouragement and sound advice to do that. So, for the people who are complaining about the lack of a "marquee signing" please consider the fact that we have bought the rough diamond for Brendan to mould and craft into the jewel that we all desire.

As for the actual signings however, I am rather pleased. Rogers obviously enjoys versatile players so that he can tweak our tactics and style, giving us the plan b that we so dearly lacked last season. Markovic, Can and Lallana all fit into this mould and so can be utilized wherever is necessary during the game. I personally think Markovic is going to be a fantastic signing. Obviously he is still young, but he has great pace and more importantly a good touch while running at pace. As well as that he seems to be able to play balls right in the 6 yard channel, which Sturridge will thrive off of. Lallana is someone I have been a fan of the past 3 years and let me tell you he seems to get better and better every season. We all know Coutinho cannot play every game and I think that Lallana fills his void perfectly, although to be honest I think as the season progresses we may see him take coutinho's place in the starting eleven. Finally, I think Lambert is an absolute steal. Not only does the man have Liverpool coursing through his veins but he agains give us a very different option up front and in my opinion the perfect back up striker for this season.

However, I do have one concern and one concern only; why are we buying so many new players? I know that we will obviously be competing on four fronts as it were but in reality that is a minimum of 6 games extra. People are calling for this player and that player but why do we need so many more players to improve when the current crop finished 2nd, yes 2nd, in arguably the toughest league in the world. Now I know, we have lost our best player and talisman in Suarez and he will be hard to replace. However, we should not overcompensate by buying players we do not need especially considering our precocious standing in terms of FFFP. We also need only look as far as Spurs to see what can happen if you make too many changes.

With all this being said it is obvious that our defence still needs shoring up and I think that Lovren and Bertrand (I would have preferred Rojo) for the prices that are being touted would be perfect, especially with Rogers at the helm and the crop of talented youngsters we have coming through our ranks.

Anyway, please feel free to comment with your own thoughtful opinions.

Hi Eds,

Just want to congratulate you first of all on the huge improvement to the site, but also for giving us pool fans another chance. I follow the various sites you guys have for other clubs and noticed how you stopped answering when the trolling became too much. On that note, I was wondering if you will be making the other sites register only so that you'll start answering questions about other teams as well?

Thanks for your hard work! {Ed002's Note - Thanks. I would expect that we will gradually move the team sites to a registration basis. Perhaps the core "transfer rumours" site will stay a free for all - but I steer clear of that anyway.}
