Predictions for the next season,

Liverpool won’t win the league,
Liverpool won't sign VVD or Keita
Couts will leave

(p. s I am always wrong so let's hope this continues! )

1.) 27 Jul 2017 11:34:00
Im more worried about qualifying for the champions league next season as we will never win the league with FSG as owners anyway simple as. They will sell any decent player we have when offered enough instead putting together a great team.

{Ed002's Note - That is not how it works.}

2.) 27 Jul 2017 11:43:31
Wow, Cy. Way to be optimistic there. N BTW, FSG don't sell players without the permission of the manager neither do they have a say on who the manager signs. None of what you posted is true regarding FSG and as Ed said, that is not how any of this works.

3.) 27 Jul 2017 12:12:39
That's a very myopic view Cyklopps 😉

Back the team, forget about the owners 😎.

4.) 27 Jul 2017 11:57:35
How does it not Ed02? You can't tell me that the club wouldn't be more successful if it had better owners such as Sheikh Mansour or Roman Abramovich who single handedly turned their clubs into title winning teams. Can you tell me one crucial player who Man City or Chelsea have sold because I can't think of any, while we have sold some of the best players to play in the premier league ever e. g Alonso, Torres, Suarez. All I can thank FSG for is saving us from Administration. Apart from that they have brainwashed the fans into accepting mediocrity year on year. We have won 1 Trophy since they've took over. They have ruined the reputation of the club among other clubs through numerous scandals. Sorry I don't mean to rant but enough is enough to be honest.

{Ed002's Note - Decisions about players are not taken by the owners.}

Conspiracy for you boys,

Keita is moving to Liverpool, the 'bust up' story is leaked from RBL to show they don’t want his disruptive behaviour around the camp, making it slightly easier to swallow for the fans. They will reluctantly accept our offer and everyone’s happy (ish) .

1.) 24 Jul 2017 16:01:11
I take it you remembered where you put your tin foil hat for this one lol.

2.) 24 Jul 2017 16:07:51
Wasn't there a smokescreen somewhere involved too?

3.) 24 Jul 2017 16:08:25
Just watched the whole thing as to the build up to the end, Keita was on the receiving end of a harsh tackle and when he had the opportunity he retaliated with a ridiculous challenge, NOT WHAT THE CLUB NEEDS because if a player is willing to do that to a team mate in training that says a lot about his mentality immediately. It was a few mins later he realised the error of his ways.

My opinion is leave it where it is and move along quickly.

4.) 24 Jul 2017 16:10:54
I nearly punched my boss today, does that mean I can join too?

5.) 24 Jul 2017 16:43:15
I was tempted to punch me bird to allow me to move on bigger, richer, more accommodating woman.

Same comparisons to Liverpool really.

6.) 24 Jul 2017 17:03:04
DaveyBootlelovesyerma I heard you're punching already.

7.) 24 Jul 2017 18:00:29
Who hasn't gone into a ft of rage on a Monday?

23 Jul 2017 09:25:28
If we decide to sell couts, I personally think we will get one more season similar to Alonso (where he had an awesome season in 08/ 09) and then reluctantly sell next summer for big money!

But if we were to sell this year who would people want to replace him with in the 11?

1.) 23 Jul 2017 09:57:53

Firminho and purchase another forward.

2.) 23 Jul 2017 10:05:14
Max Meyer of Shalke would be a like for like Onceared, but I would be happy to get Meyer now and let him and Couts rotate for a season then let Phil go next yr if he wishes too.

3.) 23 Jul 2017 10:47:29
Ante Coric maybe?

4.) 23 Jul 2017 10:53:48
We shouldn't sell Phil at all. no chance. We have a history of not replacing top players (still haven't replaced Suarez)
But if the club are stupid enough to sell our best player again, then the whatever the fee, got to be around 100mil imo, should be put used to buy one player equally as talented. We sold Suarez and spent 80m on about 7 players and it didn't work.

5.) 23 Jul 2017 10:54:50
Like the sound of coric but fear he's quite a way off being ready for the first team.

6.) 23 Jul 2017 11:02:30
Coric, Meyer, Firmino. I have no words.

7.) 23 Jul 2017 11:42:48
Agreed HX, just absolute nonsense.

8.) 23 Jul 2017 12:09:00
I appreciate there's not a great deal of options out there but if people genuinely believe they are good enough to replace Phil then they need to give their head a wobble.

9.) 23 Jul 2017 12:11:40
Yeah I don't get the Firmino comment, they're just not that similar in terms of their play.
It's pointless trying to get a like for like replacement.
For me if Alexis Sanchez wants champions league and Coutinho goes for £100m then I'd put a bid in for Sanchez.

10.) 23 Jul 2017 12:33:06
Agreed Ron but I really doubt he'd come after rejecting us last time.

11.) 23 Jul 2017 12:50:39
Renata sanches would be a good replacement should couts decides he wants to go really hope he doesn't though.

12.) 23 Jul 2017 12:51:29
But if an odd one but personally would get Aubameyang if the Keita deal came through. Swap to a 4-4-2 with firmino playing up top and hendo Keita midfield, plus mane and salah on sides.

13.) 23 Jul 2017 13:14:49
Acered - sorry, how on earth is Renato Sanches supposed to replace Coutinho? He is a completely different player, nowhere near the same standard, and also totally out of form. You just picked a name and thought it would sound good.

14.) 23 Jul 2017 13:30:11
Sanches, Coric, Meyer (who's not even better than Woodburn) and another forward (whoever that means) to replace Coutinho? Good thing some on here do not run transfer business at LFC. None of these players can replace Couts a they are not even better than his left peg.

15.) 23 Jul 2017 14:59:27
I'd go for Thomas Müller. Would love to see him and Bobby press together. That alone would give us 10 goals/ season. Plus the poaching, and his all around good guy aura.

16.) 23 Jul 2017 15:10:01
Eriksen, Pjanic, Isco, Suso and Lanzini are the type of players we'd need to look at to get a like for like replacement.

Only maybe Eriksen and Pjanic of that list are as good as Coutinho though and they have no reason to come to us. All the realistic options are a down grade at least for the immediate future.

Therefore I'd second what Ron has said and just go for a completely different kind of player. Somebody who can win a game single handedly, but not necessarily somebody of the same style as Coutinho.

17.) 23 Jul 2017 15:19:59
Neither Pjanic or Eriksen are on Coutinho's level, or close to it. Eriksen has an excellent delivery, but he has reached his limit as a footballer, overall, same for Pjanic. Coutinho is a top class player about to become an elite one.
Forget the conversation, we can't sell him this summer - period.

18.) 23 Jul 2017 15:38:48
MK agree on Isco. Decent player that can play as a Cam/ CM and on the wings. Could fill in well for couts and will probably cost the same. But I'd rather see couts plying for atleast another season.

19.) 23 Jul 2017 16:26:38
LoweLFC of course Sanches is not the same type of player that couts is who is?
remember when we picked couts up from Milan he was also out of form but class will come through in the end. Also so everyone who puts a name forward and you don't happen to agree with it just picked it out of the air just because it sounds good, what a stupid comment.

21 Jul 2017 07:39:33
I could be putting two and two together and getting 5 but here me out.

Ed002 has said a deal could be brokered with RBL (possibly) but it may come down to payment structure. I can imagine selling couts would be a long way to helping that.

I'd be sad to see him go, but I've seen the club lose fowler, Owen, Torres and Suarez. Each and everyone we were gutted to see them go but they were replaced and the club moved on. If the kid wants Barca, which we knew he would one day get as much cash as possible and move on.

Starting line up next year something like
Migs, Milner/ TAA matip Lovren/ new CB (not VVD that deals dead) Robertson. Hendo, Lallana and Keita. Mane Fiminho Salah.

19 Jul 2017 19:35:05
Regarding keita, I personally think we will go in with a take it or leave it offer which will hopefully be accepted.

I would like to think the club believe we can get him otherwise it is just a massive waste of resources. I'm hoping that their stance is more to keep their fans appeased rather than the line they are telling Liverpool behind the scenes.

This could all be wishful thinking and blind optimism, but that's what football is all about isn't it?

{Ed025's Note - it is mate..

1.) 19 Jul 2017 19:44:35
We have spend weeks chasing the player and lost all potential alternatives in between. I expect us to press for the signing. Klopp wants Keita and only Keita!

2.) 19 Jul 2017 20:41:42
Do we even need another choice? If he believes he will strengthen our squad then that's good enough for me. Otherwise we won't buy, we have a decent midfield.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 22:16:16

What if he get us the league just like Kante did for Chelsea?

4.) 19 Jul 2017 23:18:50
Kante + Goals = Keita.

Seano, if we keep him he might not play as much as he needs to to become a better player, if we sell him he is a regular for Juve and might fulfill his potential making us look foolish.

So we either keep him and have a very good squad player or we sell him re coup some cash and use one of the youngsters in his place (i am glad it ain't me making the decision! )

ed001 would a 'buy back clause' (or similar) be an option if he did go on a perm move?

{Ed001's Note - no idea.}

Keith, ignore the odds, they know about as much as the papers, it's just a rigged system to get the most money out of punters.

That's the problem we had under Hodgson and to a certain extent Rafa, we looked at improving the bench, but they weren't challenging the first team. No competition = complacency. Also on Ed's point if you don't bleed in youngsters then the bench will always be weak, Spurs are reaping the benefits from giving youth a go!

wouldn't be surprised seeing Milner at RB with competition from TAA, although if he isn't starting would like Hendo to take them on.
