Question for ed001, we all saw the difference with sturridge in the team today and I know how much you appreciate him being at the club but listening to Carraghers commentary it seemed that sturridge was definitely being sold, has there already been a decision made?

Opr

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, we would have to receive an offer to consider first.}

In my mind our situation doesn't change regardless of whether he stays or goes. He need another proper striker of the same Calibre as Sturridge or better to either take his place or cover for his injuries. Was happy to see him play today and your right OPR the difference with his movement was clear to see. As much as I like Origi he's got a bit to go to reach that level.

2.) 14 May 2017 18:38:01
Honestly, I'd let Origi go at the end of the season and replace him. We'd get dcenet money for him and as much as he's a lovely guy, we need better up front.

3.) 14 May 2017 19:09:33
Origi is still young and yet to reach his prime, he needs time to mature. On to Sturridge, today just shows how frustrating it is to have a player of his ability have those fitness issues! He looked hungry and IF he could stay fit it would save us a lot of money. If he's 100% fit he should play. Yes he doesn't fit klopps style, the press, but we've not pressed teams this side of Xmas like we were anyway so a fit Sturridge will fit right in.

4.) 14 May 2017 19:39:38
So welsh red what's the solution then?

DS won't stay fit so no point pretending he will.

Origi MAY come good yes, but we need someone now - not in 2/ 3 years.

5.) 14 May 2017 20:12:47
I've always said sturridge is one of the best strikers in the league when 100%, the trouble is his injury record is shocking and his head is in the clouds.

We need players to dig deep and stay fit unfortunately I don't think we can rely onsturridge.

6.) 14 May 2017 21:18:59
It's obvious origi needs to play in a two up front until he's got more experience.

7.) 14 May 2017 21:27:08
Origi is an ok forward that is it you can see class from an early age, and he will never be good enough to be the clubs first or second striker, I to would let him go. as for Sturridge he will be with us till his contract runs out because no one who he would leave for will come in for him with his injury record. but we do need a 20 goal a season man.

8.) 14 May 2017 21:58:59
Spot on grino.

Mbappe is smashing is. Rashford. Dembele. Ali. Age is juzt a bollox excuse.

9.) 14 May 2017 22:04:34
For me if we have Ings, sturridge, firmino and origi then that is our stock. We only buy if we sell someone. It would make zero sense adding a 5th striker to that group as glorified injury cover.

10.) 14 May 2017 22:08:34
I don't know, I'm as puzzled as you! I don't get paid to make these decisions either (unfortunately) but I wouldn't give up on Origi quite yet, I agree we need someone more prolific to lead the line but he still deserves a place in our squad.

11.) 14 May 2017 22:10:59
I would keep Sturbridge and sell Inga and origi, then go all out for a 40-50m striker and have studge as backup and give youth a chance like.

12.) 15 May 2017 10:10:34
Surely origi is worth a squad place and see if he improves at Liverpool rather than sell him, absolutely no patients with fans.

{Ed025's Note - you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear mate..

13.) 15 May 2017 10:29:44
He'd probably play every week for a midtable team, don't think he'll ever be a regular starter but he can be useful for cups and as a sub.

14.) 15 May 2017 16:18:03
Was Studge the difference yesterday? Not for me. I think it was more a case of replacing Lucas with Lallana gave us more movement and creativity in midfield. Add to that Couts playing deeper we actually had a threat coming from deep and midfielders willing to run beyond the strikers pulling their centre backs about.

15.) 15 May 2017 18:53:08
What. Peiple believe sturridge was th3 difference

Coutinho absolutely ran the show ans got a few goals aswel if i remembet. Him in the middle was the difference.

16.) 16 May 2017 03:46:34
Origi has spent half his time on rhe pitch out wide, receiving and holding up the ball for others to make runs to create angles to pass to .

If in the summer we are getting quality wide players who will put a quality cross in early.

I think then we will see origi kick on.

Thnx for the reply ed001, I'm in the same camp as you I really hope he stays and hopefully get that 1 full season injury free like Utd got with van persie. I think he could make that much of a difference, fingers crossed.

Opr

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly good enough to make that much of a difference.}

1.) 14 May 2017 19:27:51
I love the guy, but he isn't a season long guarantee. This will upset people, but I truly believe if the money we can get for him is spent right, then we can strengthen in depth and make us stronger all over the team.

2.) 14 May 2017 20:05:32
Fit and on form, he's that good a finisher he's up there with Aguero.

3.) 14 May 2017 20:43:31
who are you all talking about sorry i can't see a name haha!

4.) 14 May 2017 20:44:27
I hope the club can do a full offseason checkup on Studge's areas of injuries (esp. the hip and foot and muscles) to see what can be done to help him cos when fit and in the right system, he is lethal.

Just because a player is the best in the team doesn't mean he's the best penalty taker. If I remember correctly David unsworth took pens for Everton for years and didn't miss much but I doubt he was ever called their best player while he was there. I'd go with fab or trent for pens, trent gets most fks around the box so don't see why he's not considered from 12yrds out with no wall.
