Good evening

I think back in April / May it was mentioned we may have been looking at N'Zonzi, also that one of the eds seville would be open to cash in, did LFC interest move on, do we hold any interest still?

Thanks.

PM

{Ed001's Note - last I heard it had moved on and we went for what was seen as a much better option in Keita.}

1.) 09 Aug 2017 08:00:09
Keita is a much better player.

2.) 09 Aug 2017 10:27:21
Keita is a better player all round, but I think N'zonzi is more what we need for our midfield to free up the abundance of "box to box" players we already have.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 11:21:50
How do you know Keita is a much better player? Scouted him extensively? I myself hadn't heard of Keita until this summer so I can't actually say I have ever seen him play football and therefore have no idea how good he is. Amazing how others on here rave about him.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 11:39:52
Yeah, is a far better footballer, Nzonzi literally is just a clogger and has no ability on the ball, Keita is a very good technical footballer who has the hard working traits of Kante. I watched several RBL games on BT Sport last year and him and Forsberg stood out a mile. He is a genuinely good midfielder and I think is the real deal.

{Ed001's Note - woah! Nzonzi just a clogger? He is far from that. He is a very good player.}

5.) 09 Aug 2017 11:40:02
Liverbird unlike you, I have seen Keita play since last season as I watch Bundesliga when I have the time both for RBL and he is the real deal, a Kante with better thrust and attacking ability with goals, assists and a good shot on him. Very dynamic player. I just was not sure about the 75m fee being touted cos it was too much and even RBL knows that as his release clause is 48m (tho would not apply to LFC as it is for German teams only) and that he has only had one good season in a top league in Europe (he came from RB Salzburg in 2016).

Hi Eds / all

Has anyone heard if we are still looking at Ipswich Towns Andre Dozzell, believe we were linked earlier this year.

Cheers.

Good afternoon

I believe when he left inter we were linked with Luc Castaignos, I assume as he was not in Ed002 round up of targets, LFC no longer hold an interest?

Also just wanted to say, was sad to read what Ed002 has said at the way the club has treated Brad Jones. The lad has always known he was number 2 at the club, but has never moaned and has always I feel done a decent job when called on.

Anyway hope the team can get a result today and end the season on a winning run, come back stronger next season and grab a CL place.

Thanks

PM

PM

{Ed002's Note - It was three years ago that Castaignos left Inter and whilst a number of clubs, including an EPL side are interested in him, Liverpool are not at this time.}

1.) 10 May 2015 14:08:54
That EPL side is Swansea yes?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it is.}

Good afternoon

I have seen him mentioned before I believe a while back, but do Liverpool have any interest in Pedro from Barca? I guess a lot will depend on the transfer embargo and maybe a new manager at Barca in the summer.

PM

{Ed002's Note - There is no point considering him until the appeal is processed.}

Good evening Eds
Am a fan of Wijnaldum from PSV and I have heard us link in the past. Any clubs interested I think I remember in the past you mentioned interest from Everton and a couple others

PM

{Ed001's Note - the only club I am currently aware of showing interest is Everton, though Dortmund were interested in January.}

This is nothing to do with anything based in fact or inside knowledge. Just wanted to get Ed001 opinion, with the injury problems at center back if you were manager would you look at a loan to get the team through, or would you look to push for potential summer targets and trying to get whoever the preferred option is in for the Jan window? Also a side note as I think I read somewhere he might be available, what is you analysis of Christensen from Chelsea? I always thought he had potential to be a good CB. But I don't really know much! Hope all reds enjoy Christmas as much as they can with the current restrictions, same to all the eds.

PM

{Ed001's Note - I don't know if it is as simple as that due to finances because of the pandemic. We have to be able to buy now, pay later, like we did with Jota. Very few quality players are available on those terms, which is why we didn't manage to sign one in the summer. I doubt it will be any easier in January to be honest.

Christensen has struggled badly with physicality so I would avoid him. As soon as a forward starts throwing his weight around, Christensen bottles it. Shame as he showed so much promise in the Bundesliga.}

1.) 13 Dec 2020 05:29:37
Maybe Tomori? Not getting any games at Chelsea and could be a decent solution until the summer. Not seen much of him but we need bodies as much as quality at the back.

2.) 13 Dec 2020 14:51:31
Tomori is lightening quick as a CB but he is not getting games for a reason at Chelsea rather than get a young player from another team, might as well give Nat Phillips the game time so he can develop.

3.) 13 Dec 2020 15:22:39
The next game is always the most important.

Hi Eds / Reds

Just wondering regarding Taiwo Awoniyi, I understand from previous posts he is not deemed ready for regular game time at his current loan club, was wondering is he out on loan as he is not eligible for a work permit at present? Does appearing for example in the Olympics help towards a work permit at all? I appreciate he is a long way from the liverpool squad at present, would a player in his situation awaiting a permit be able to train with his parent club in pre season?

Cheers.

PM

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the Olympics.}

Can I ask the ed002 if avilable a lot is made of the madrids club transfer window bans, are LFC in risk of the same? I worry that the club spends still beyond what they make. I honestly believe we have a fantastic crop of players we miss use! As a result we spend more than we should!

PM

{Ed002's Note - The fines & bans handed out to Barcelona and the Madrid clubs relate to abuses of the rules covering the transfer and registration of younger players rather than anything financial or FFP based. The punishments were from FIFA and Liverpool are certainly not under any threat at this time. Liverpool has constantly been on the edge of the UEFA FFP situation and will might need to bring forward sponsorship deals or possibly future loans secured on the stadium to settle this season.}

Ed02 if you are about, do you think the owners have taken poor advice so far, or have been caught up in the 2nd place finish? Am more then happy with their support so far, worry they underestimate the size of the job required at the club.

PM

{Ed002's Note - There have been a number of poor decisions about personnel - Comolli, Dalglish, Rodgers etc.. Liverpool has also suffered with very poor media communication over several years. The whole Runt situation was mismanaged, Sterling made a joke of himself and the club, Balotelli was always going to be an accident waiting to happen and Rodgers has put his foot in his mouth every time he has opened it. Added to that there was the complete disaster of FSG's choice of Jen Chang. I should not really say this but within factions of the press, the current incumbent, Susan Black is seen as way out her depth.

As far as advice goes, it was proposed to change the manager this summer and a name was put forward. The decision was made, not directly by the owners, not to seek a change - that was a mistake in my view and that is where the club is right now.}

1.) 06 Sep 2015 09:40:53
Shame really, will be another year of transition and ultimately failure. But as you say we are where we are at and will have to live with it until he is gone.

2.) 06 Sep 2015 11:52:47
Ed you keep saying you shouldn't mention Susan black being rubbish but you always do haha
Can't be as bad as Jen I suppose.

3.) 06 Sep 2015 13:57:24
My thoughts exactly, Ed. Ed01 said BR was kept because a lot of money had been invested in his tenure and to me, it seemed they weren't ready to cut their losses as other owners do in Europe. That is amen American owner's way of dealing with managers and their situations. BR only got a reprieve because of this and not because they thought he was competent which IMO, is an indictment on BR and his capabilities or lack thereof.

4.) 06 Sep 2015 18:38:19
So by that analogy then Rodgers should be safe next season with the money he has spent and the owners invested this Summer? Makes no sense to me!

5.) 06 Sep 2015 21:53:53
That may be right, Irish but he has clearly been given this season to right his wrongs and based on the Eds info, that's all he will get.

Hi eds

Just wanted your opinion, if LFC fail to finish top 4 this season, do you think it is possible to finish top 4 this day in age, if a club solely focuses on promoting youth? I guess part of the issue would be how good the youth are. I worry we as a club have been spending far too much and should focus more on bringing more young players though, before we spend. I am happy with the owners they have gone above and beyond supplying money for transfers, but I guess they have just been too trusting in some respects.

PM

{Ed001's Note - it depends on how it is done. If you are selling your best prospects at 20/21, then no. If you hold on to them and develop them, then yes.}

1.) 11 Apr 2015 15:12:55
Keeping your best prospects and signing good players to play with them is your best bet. if you are a selling club, you have no chance "cos a bird in hand is worth two in the bush". That saying comes to bearon this topic

As much as I do not want the club to sell Coutinho, I really hope the club can sit down with him, come to an agreement whatever that might be. If he tells the club this is the move he wants, then I really think we should do the right thing and just get the best deal for LFC, wish him the best and thank him for his time with us. Last thing I feel we need to be doing is trying to force the lad to stay, let's respect his whishes if he doesn't wish to stay, he will be a loss and be missed yes. But we will dust ourselves off and carry on, who knows what the transfer window may still bring with incomings, having said all that the transfer request has yet to be confirmed.
