A quick question in regards to the rumour that Klopp is considering a cheap reliable midfielder this month. Would there be any chance he looks at Adrien Rabiot? PSG have apparently named there price for him to go this month. Or would it not be a case of his wages being the stumbling block? It's said Klopp is looking for a loan or a cheap buy. I know it would present Klopp with more problems also trying to get them in to the team but it seems our midfield players have been well managed and rotated as and when the time has called for.

Pool77

1.) 16 Jan 2019 22:22:40
Would love this move think he'd replace Milner next year if he decides to move for more football but its pretty much nailed on Rabiot is going to Barcelona. Seems to be what the player wants.

2.) 16 Jan 2019 22:23:03
Would he be cheap? Also doesn't the lad have attitude issues, not sure if that's true but maybe Ed001 can confirm? If that is the case then I wouldn't risk upsetting the squad at this point in the season just for a bit of cover in an area of the pitch we're the most stocked in.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on what you call attitude issues. He refused to be on stand by for the French squad in the summer, for instance, that is the kind of thing he has done.}

3.) 16 Jan 2019 23:29:12
I'd go back to Southampton and take Romeu. Think he'd make an excellent backup player.

4.) 16 Jan 2019 23:39:22
From a Chelsea fan- steer well clear. I remember we were linked with him as a youngster and his mother (agent) was described as abhorrent to deal with.

5.) 17 Jan 2019 05:32:30
He does seem to have a bit of an attitude issue but it's really his mother/ agent that I want us to steer clear of. No amount of talent and quality he possesses will convince me that it'd be worth taking on his mother.

6.) 17 Jan 2019 06:02:44
10 million euros signing on fee and wages equivalent to what Salah makes hardly qualifies as a cheap option.

7.) 17 Jan 2019 10:05:09
Red Ted, i would not waste my time with Romeu, Jurgens record of picking up great players from relegated teams, [Wijnaldum, Robertson, Shaquiri over the last three seasons could continue at the end of this season when Huddersfield go down, and we could go in for Mooy, who i think is a very good and under rated player who could fit into a number of positions in our midfield, anddo a more than descent job as a cover/ replacement for both Milner and Lallana, and should not break the bank either.

{Ed001's Note - oh god please no! Overrated if anything. So slow he would be completely unable to play in Klopp's system.}

8.) 17 Jan 2019 10:58:02
Only four players I'd think about getting from Huddersfield would be Jonas Lossl as a backup GK but he is 29 and would want first team football Philip Billing he seems to have something about him, Mathias Jorgensen. Erik Durm is not a bad LB as a back up option played plenty of times LB and RB.

9.) 17 Jan 2019 12:03:40
Aaron Mooy would be a cheap and reliable midfielder.

{Ed001's Note - and crap.}

10.) 17 Jan 2019 12:14:25
Malcolm on loan would be neat.

{Ed002's Note - Zero chance.}

11.) 17 Jan 2019 12:24:42
Love it Ed001 😂.

12.) 17 Jan 2019 15:03:02
Kloppers - I definitely agree, let's go for all three and get a bit of Danish talent back to Anfield!

13.) 17 Jan 2019 20:58:37
I really don’t think we need to be disrupting the squad in this window after this next game we have a 10 day break in which matip and Gomez and lovren should return also lallana and keita need to step up . Trent is a blow but we have very good players than can fill in and adapt all throughout the team . New players coming in will only interrupt our flow and solidarity in my opinion . Come on the red men give us what we crave 🤞🏻.

29 Dec 2018 09:17:23
Just wondering if there is any interest from Liverpool in Youri Tielemans? He was being touted about as having a very bright future at one point. With Monaco struggling in the league this year. Would you think he'd be a viable option for Liverpool? He could be an upgrade on Lallana that's for sure and I wouldn't have thought his price would be silly money now either.

Pool77

{Ed002's Note - No Liverpool has shown no interest in Youri Tielemans but he would be available at the right price. Roma have him on their list of options but he is not at the top.}

1.) 29 Dec 2018 10:17:19
Not for this page I appreciate but I'm sure I heard spurs had a heavy interest in him.

2.) 29 Dec 2018 10:20:16
Interesting one, I've only ever seen him play once so I can't have an opinion on him, is he any good?

3.) 29 Dec 2018 10:40:59
I know he has a great right footed long shot so would give the opposition something to think about. They can't defend so deep due to his long shots but then they can't afford to push up on him and allow space for Salah and Mané to run into behind them.

4.) 29 Dec 2018 11:28:53
Lethal in pro evo 15 so that’s good enough for me.

26 Dec 2018 12:40:14
Does anyone know who the 4 'B' Grade center backs liverpool had extensively scouted before signing VVD? Paul Joyce has said we 34 potential center backs before narrowing it done to 4 'A' grade and 4 'B' Grade center backs. B grade being young centre backs with the potential to become A grade in the near future.

Pool77

{Ed002's Note - This was all dealt with at the time. Regardless, as it is Christmas and perhaps he went back and read what I told you then, perhaps he is thinking of these:
Benedikt Howedes (CB)
Manuel Akanji (CB)
Stefan de Vrij (CB)
Virgil van Dijk (CB)
Francisco Ferreira (CB)
Modibo Sagnan (CB)
Perr Schuurs (CB)
Mahamadou Dembele (CB)}

1.) 26 Dec 2018 15:53:07
I think we definitley got the best one!

2.) 26 Dec 2018 13:36:46
Was Koulibally never considered? He seems to be a real solid player and if VVD was unattainable I would have liked us to look at him.

{Ed002's Note - No. Van Dyke was attainable as the owners were willing to take the loss of face and pay well over the odds in cash - all in all a very embarrassing situation.}

3.) 26 Dec 2018 17:13:22
All in all he is very good buy. infact a shrewd one considering his stock would have almost doubled. situations are quite frequent and common in football and on field results can change everything.

4.) 26 Dec 2018 17:34:00
If being part of an 'embarrassing situation' was going to bring us this colossus of a man to watch week in week out, then call us all a joke. I couldn't care less, the bloke is an absolute machine, couldn't be happier we signed him.

5.) 26 Dec 2018 18:44:21
The way the transfer was conducted was a mess that made us look silly but the money paid is a bargain cos he is worth double now .

6.) 26 Dec 2018 19:07:38
Van Dijk is an outstanding player but Liverpool did pay too much for him at the time, due to our poor conduct. His price would have been much lower to Chelsea or Man City.
We would all be livid if Barcelona or Real Madrid treated Liverpool in the same way we treated Southampton.

{Ed0333's Note - I think he was worth every penny.

7.) 26 Dec 2018 19:58:43
Sometimes you have to be ruthless and lose face.

The owners may have had to make a U turn, get on their
Knees and apologise to Southampton. Boy was it worth it! As for overpaying, watching him live week in week out, no chance we’ve overpaid.

8.) 26 Dec 2018 20:15:35
Well worth the money. Who cares.

9.) 26 Dec 2018 21:52:00
Why is it even a point of discussion when everyone concerned is happy now, one year later? Southampton got the money they wanted, the player got the team he wanted, the manager got the player he wanted and the fans are all happy with the player we got. Could have, should have been done differently? Maybe. Anyone got a time machine handy?

10.) 26 Dec 2018 23:00:45
We got our man. Southampton got a shed load of cash. everyone wins. who cares how we handled it. if we won the league no-one will care.

11.) 26 Dec 2018 23:41:36
Ed002 is just gutted at how well it’s worked out hahaha.

12.) 27 Dec 2018 01:20:43
ArAy, have to say the southampton fans should feel short changed - they got Mark Hughes to spend it!

13.) 27 Dec 2018 02:56:36
Well as klopp would say! had i known how good he is i would have paid double for him!

14.) 28 Dec 2018 06:30:48
Greenflash

We have been treated that way by Barcelona and real, the only difference is that they paid us less than the players where worth.

Mascherano went for a lot less than he was worth and also others.

15.) 28 Dec 2018 06:06:01
I see es002s reply has already hit a few websites this morning with them quoting the same players and the A grade and B grade
Hats off to u ed0002
Appreciate your hard work and info
😘.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

16.) 29 Dec 2018 21:59:20
Like I said, we overpaid for Van Dijk at the time, but there is no disputing he is a truly awesome defender.

Good old Rafa
👏👏👏

Now we need to do our job and get the 3 points on offer tomorrow against Leicester. If that isn't a boost in confidence with the defensive worries before hand I don't know what is.

Pool77

1.) 29 Jan 2019 22:18:20
Go out there and handle your business, boys. It's all on you now.

25 Jan 2019 19:57:01
Have Liverpool signed the young French CB Billy Koumetio? A lot of rumours say we have but nothing on the official site as of yet.

Pool77

1.) 25 Jan 2019 20:26:49
It's weird that people care so much about us signing a 16 year old kid.

2.) 25 Jan 2019 21:09:25
You mean like Brewster? Or maybe Ki-Jana Hoever? Or how about Duncan? Camacho? Just because they are young players doesn't mean they aren't part of the club. And hopefully the future of the club. Getting young raw talented players will save the club potentially millions in the transfer market.

3.) 25 Jan 2019 23:30:37
I find it more weird that you don't care smeg?

4.) 26 Jan 2019 00:15:19
Sorry Salah but as a full grown man I find it weird getting excited about signing a 16 year old kid that I have never seen play football.

5.) 26 Jan 2019 08:01:32
I'm sure there are lots of cases you wouldn't have seen a young player play for Liverpool. But then got excited when they broke in to the first team. Such as Owen before he did the dirty on us. A 17 year old ripping up the league and scoring bag fulls of goals. I watch the odd under 18's and 23's teams play so I can't see the issue in wanting to know what the club have done in the transfer market regardless of the age of player. If we buy and develop correctly then we can start producing young exciting players who will be learning the system that Klopp wants to use. Therefore better suited to playing for him. The age for me doesn't come in to it. ALL players where 16 at some point.

6.) 26 Jan 2019 08:51:20
For a true supporter, knowing and following future, potentially outstanding players can be a an exciting part of the support. What's age got to do with it? What is far more weird is trying to classify importance of a footballing aspect, according to the age group you are in (I'm 59, by the way) .

7.) 26 Jan 2019 09:18:17
But for someone like Smeg, who I assume (maybe wrongly) is focusing on winning the title this season, a 16 year old that won't impact the title race isn't exactly important in the immediate.

8.) 26 Jan 2019 09:39:58
Okay. I see. So aside from classifying supporters according to age group, we also have a further classification according to who wants to win the title right now and who can wait another 5 years for the 16 year-olds to make it to the first team. Another argument that leads absolutely nowhere.

9.) 26 Jan 2019 09:49:16
Or perhaps you should accept his point of view that he isn't exactly interested in a 16 year old. If that is different from yours, then it is. It neither makes you right nor does it make him wrong.

10.) 26 Jan 2019 10:07:45
To be fair, Smeg is right. Buying a 16 year old footballer is like buying condoms after an argument with your missus. You hope to use them and the intention is there, but in reality you know its never going to happen unless some serious work has been put in and the stars align.

There’s nothing else happening on the transfer front so an academy player is all people have to get excited about (if it even happens/ ed) .

11.) 26 Jan 2019 10:19:21
Realtofel. But that's the exact point. You hit the nail on the head. I have no problem whatsoever with his point of view. More than entitled to it. It's he who chose to label others' point of view as weird, from the start. It's just a matter of what's good for the goose is good for the gander and all that other stuff. That's why I said it was an argument leading to nowhere.

12.) 26 Jan 2019 10:28:16
I’m not bothered because these young teenagers we sign VERY VERY rarely make an appearance for Liverpool and usually go on loan in the Championship before disappearing forever.
Recent Exception - Sterling.

21 Jan 2019 16:07:06
A quick question to anyone who may have some information. Is the plan to promote Adam Lewis to the first team squad for next season? Keep him part of the under 23's squad (youth teams any age he qualifies for) he's 19 now basically a year younger than Trent. Trent had his chance because of injuries. But he's taken that chance and made the position his own. I'm not say Lewis could do the same. But if he is so highly thought of within the club why not let Moreno go and promote him? I haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to form my own judgement. I know Gerrard thought highly of him. Surely a young hungry player who wants to play for the team will be a better option than someone coming in knowing he'll only be cover basically coming in for a pay day. So if anyone can shed a little light on it I'd appreciate it.

Pool77

1.) 21 Jan 2019 18:07:21
The only difference is that Trent had Clyne to replace and Adam Lewis has Robbo. I would guess a loan to a club (maybe championship) where he can play first team regularly for a season at a high level may be handy vs being deputy for Robbo and getting very few opportunities.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 18:24:47
He is very highly thought of and it isn’t a case of we aren’t keeping Moreno because he isn’t good enough. There could be a number of factors e. g no one wants Moreno or he doesn’t want to leave.

Trent went into the team because we had nothing else’s, we have Robertson so there’s no rush! He is regularly training with the 1st team.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 22:27:59
Every young player needs a bit of luck in the first place to get there opportunity. It's then down to the player to take that opportunity. Robertson isn't super human (although his work rate says differently) every player is vulnerable to injury.

Klopp I believe thou would rather integrate any young players in to the squad slowly. All good managers know when the time is right to play them and also to take them out. It keeps them hungry for more and also keeps them grounded while progressing.

4.) 22 Jan 2019 16:55:11
Sevilla can’t afford Moreno, that’s why he’s still at LFC.

19 Jan 2019 09:59:56
So Trent Alexander-Arnold is the latest player to commit to the club long term. It shows that they are all behind what Klopp is doing at the club and share the same vision he has.

Congratulations Trent well deserved 👏👏.

Pool77

1.) 19 Jan 2019 10:49:53
Very well deserved and great credit to the club too for his progress.
It’ll be interesting to see if he does revert back to midfield in the future.
You could quite easily see him on the right in a 3, though I’m not so sure that the formation with 2 deeper would suit him as well?
It wouldn’t surprise me to see him as a Wijnaldum-type all-rounder though, he’s got that pace and dynamism to be versatile.

2.) 19 Jan 2019 11:34:55
On the subject of young full backs, we’ll get to see another great prospect later today in Wan-Bissaka.
I’m sure that we all agree on his fantastic potential and yet I was slightly shocked to realise that TAA is about a year younger than him.
Which only makes you appreciate TAA all the more with that fact in mind.

3.) 19 Jan 2019 19:46:55
Wan-Bissaka did not have a good game today. He was overwhelmed on that right side with Robbo, Keita and Bobbie buzzing all around him. That said, he is a very good prospect and as Ed01 said, he is just as raw as TAA.

{Ed0333's Note - to be fair I didn’t see much buzz from Naby mate lol.

19 Jan 2019 02:40:03
Can anyone tell me what the clubs intentions are for Marko Grujic? It seemed like he was highly thought of at Hertha before he got a couple of niggling injuries. I only ask as we seem to be being linked with a move for Weston McKennie. They both seem to play in a very similar position on the pitch. I can't comment on style of play as I haven't seen enough of either to form any sort of judgement. My point is why spend money on new players when we have players out on loan doing a decent job trying to turn the managers head and push there was in to the first team squad?

Pool77

{Ed001's Note - Grujic is trying to get himself a good move, rather than force his way into the team really. His dad is a pain and it would be best to be rid of him.}

1.) 19 Jan 2019 08:18:16
Hopefully then to cover the cost of any incoming player Klopp wants to replace him with.

Cheers Ed001.

That wasn't what I was trying to get out of you ed001. I rate Gomez as high as anyone else. My question was who is the best CB in there age category. And who would you like Liverpool to sign and for what position in the squad (a starter to cover or to rotate)

Pool77

{Ed001's Note - I don't see a better young defender than Gomez around.}

So then Ed001 who in your honest opinion is the best CB in his age category at the moment in time? I know players develop at different rates. And who would you like to see Liverpool sign to cover the CB position. Would you replace Gomez or rotate him with someone else?

Pool77

{Ed001's Note - why would I replace Gomez? When fit he was exceptional alongside VVD and they were the best defensive pairing in Europe. I don't want to rotate him, I just want to keep him fit and have cover for when he is not.}

If we are to keep this run going we need to be aiming to bring in a top class forward. Look at what we are having to content with at City. There wealth of attacking talent is scary. We have been lucky so far not to have any of ours out for any length of time. Fingers crossed may it continue. But I just feel with another top draw attacker on the books would also push the fab 3 even further. I don't know who Klopp may look at but he needs to be a top draw player then allow Sturridge Origi to leave and then loan out Solanke (I fear he may not make it for us) . Wilson will offer cover out wide when he returns next season but its the man at the top. Timo Werner would be my shout but he won't come cheap. He's going to be about 60m I suspect but he offers top quality cover. Which also allows Klopp to rotate more so in turn keeping them fresher and hungrier to stay in the team.

Firmino - Aguero
Salah - Sterling
Mané - Sane
Wilson - Mahrez
Werner - Jesus

I'd be made up with that personally but it's a big ask of the club to go for such a coveted player. Also it's a big ask for him to play as a rotated player when so many other teams would offer him a started place.

I feel we are in a great place and it's only a matter of replacing the out goings next window. But it's replacing them with a better quality that's the difficult part. Our youth players should be expected to support the first team squad. But without first team football many may become disillusioned and want to seek pastures new. So although we are in a strong position. The summer window is going to be a tricky one for Klopp. Does he stick with the youth or twist and build an all star squad which could be potentially the downfall our the club.

Kelly looks like a left sided Gomez. Tall strong fast and a good tackler. Would Ward even come back do you think any of the Ed's? Surely being on the bench back at Liverpool is better than being on the bench at Leicester. I know he left because of the talk of Kasper leaving but that never came off. Or would you expect him to push for a move away from the King Power in search of a regular spot somewhere else?

Pool77

{Ed001's Note - he is hoping to get regular first team football somewhere.}

Suso looked the best prospect during that time. If it doesn't work out at one club hard work and determination will get you back on track I believe. The thing is there is to much money in the game so young players have there heads turned far to often nowadays.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea mate who I would like I have not looked into it, but Tah seems a good suggestion. Konate is the one that comes to mind though.}

Glatzel is actually out scoring Duncan by 1 goal. So we have 2 potentially quality young forwards in the under 18s at the moment. We also have O'Rourke in the age group below who is as highly regarded as the other 2. Then there is Brewster a little older and further along in his development. But the shame is I feel only 1 of the 4 mentioned will actually succeed if any. My question is who do the Eds think has the best chance to succeed and why?
