Hi eds, quick question for ed02 if about, seen a few reports today linking lf. With former leverkusen sporting director Tim Steidten. Do you know if there's any truth in it. The report did say utd and Chelsea were also interested.

Port red

{Ed002's Note - He is one of the options Liverpool have considered.}

1.) 18 Apr 2023 20:03:17
Who was the guy you said was really good ed 2?

I've a feeling you didn't say!

{Ed002's Note - Paul Mitchell would be a great solution. And it is possible.}

2.) 18 Apr 2023 22:17:09
Cheers Ed 2.

15 Feb 2019 12:48:15
Hi eds/ reds, I seen some rumours today that Matip is struggling with injury again which would leave us playing with no fit first team CBS, and eds or reds shed any light if it's true? Thanks.

Port red

1.) 15 Feb 2019 13:30:48
Pretty sure Matip was involved in this morning’s training session; saw him in one of the photos released by LFC.

2.) 15 Feb 2019 14:38:14
Matip is fit and the only fit cb currently.

3.) 15 Feb 2019 16:32:35
VVD is fit. He's just suspended.

20 Mar 2018 21:06:04
Hi eds, just a quick question, I don't usually listen to gossip or rumours, anymore, but heard a report on merseyside radio that real had made contact with Liverpool over Salah, more rubbish or anything in it, cheers.

Port red

{Ed002's Note - I have explained this over and over - Salah had his representatives contact RM.}

1.) 20 Mar 2018 22:04:00
I think Ed2 mentioned this months ago lol or it certainly seems that long ago, old news.

2.) 20 Mar 2018 22:47:53
I understand that ed, I guess I was asking is reals interest that strong that they've contacted Liverpool over a possible move, cheers for the reply,

{Ed002's Note - over and over again. Read the posts.}

3.) 20 Mar 2018 21:54:44
Do you expect him to leave in the Summer ed?

{Ed002's Note - no}

4.) 21 Mar 2018 07:36:38
Ive been reading this page for what seems like a decade, back when Macca was a regular poster. Questions and replies like the ones above just seem to scream out journalist. don't know why you bother authorising the post.

5.) 21 Mar 2018 07:59:43
Chaps. I think we should just enjoy the wonderful football we are watching from Salah. I don’t think he’ll leave in the Summer but, if we’re not challenging for the PL and CL in the future and his form continues he’ll want to leave.

Only clubs like Man United can keep their top players without challenging, prime example De Gea. One of the best keepers in the world playing for poor United teams since Ferguson left. Difference is, they are paying him a fortune.

6.) 21 Mar 2018 09:58:35
For the top class players to stay let's face it you've got to be winning things consistently and not nearly every year 😉.

7.) 21 Mar 2018 13:42:15
De Gea would go if he had chance, but I think he has wanted away for a few seasons.

8.) 21 Mar 2018 14:29:47
Glad to hear he isn’t expected to leave next season!

24 Jan 2017 09:15:25
Hi eds, just seen a few reports Liverpool have sent representatives to talk to benfica about a possible deal for William carvalho, I find this hard to believe myself, just wondering if there's any truth to this, thanks

Port red

{Ed002's Note - William Carvalho has been looked at by Liverpool so there is the chance that something can be done.}

1.) 24 Jan 2017 12:24:08
Are they asking benfica what they think of him port red, because I thought he played for sporting😂😂😂

So tomorrow will be our 12th 12.30 kick off after an international break since klopp took over. The nearest team to that has 6. People wonder why klopp moans about it. This slot should be shared among the pl teams evenly.

Port red

1.) 15 Sep 2023 19:45:20
Wolves also has it to be fair.
Both teams have the “disadvantage” so can’t complain if we lose, we should be able to beat Wolves any time, any day.

2.) 15 Sep 2023 21:13:45
Obviously it’s hypothetical pre game

But if we beat Wolves comfortably tomorrow say 3-0 and look solid, do you bring in VVD next week. Or do we play him in the Europa and stick with our winning back 4 that’s looked decent?

3.) 15 Sep 2023 21:57:47
It’s time to start phasing him out TBH. Yes he’s been part of our most successful team in 30 years but that injury has made him a lesser player. Pickford should be ashamed of himself over that tackle, he won’t be though because he’s obviously a moron.

4.) 15 Sep 2023 23:16:01
Phase him out for who? We have 3 cbs who can’t be relied upon.

5.) 15 Sep 2023 23:37:51
A guy who used to deliver fish to finch farm told me Pickford’s nickname was plank due to not being the brightest. Not a major surprise!

Cheers.

6.) 15 Sep 2023 23:42:33
@Mikey, I agree in one sense, that both are disadvantaged by playing at 12:30 but Jurgen made a point at his presser that I hadn’t really taken into account before in terms of the vol7me of players we have all over the globe a couple of days before the match. He was saying that he hadn’t seen Luis and Macca as they hadn’t got back yet and it was only 24 hours to the match. The recovery time from the games and the travel is woefully short. My bad in previous conversations on Saturday lunchtime games as I hadn’t really factored the long distance travel in.

7.) 15 Sep 2023 23:50:19
In Pickford’s defence - and this won’t be popular - and readily acknowledging that he’s a bit of a time wasting, showboating t*t, I’d have to say that I honestly didn’t act in a premeditated fashion. It was a poor challenge but mostly because it was poor timing and ineptitude rather than him being vicious. I totally agree though that VVD has not got over it, probably mentally more so than physically.

I think, the Mo to Saudi circus and Andre in Jan aside, two left footed defenders would be the priority in the upcoming January / July windows along with an additional right sided CB to replace Matip.

8.) 16 Sep 2023 00:16:47
Both things can be true. Yes it seems a bit twisted that we’ve had that many 1230pm kick-offs comparative to other clubs. And yes we should be good enough to beat Wolves.

9.) 16 Sep 2023 01:44:50
WDW3 - Pickford’s tackle might not have been vicious or intended to end van Dijk’s season, but it was yet another example of a stupid player not considering the consequences of their actions. Smart, well-measured people don’t make challenges like that.
Regardless, van Dijk is not finished by any means. He will never again be the invincible force he was pre-injury but he can still be a world class player. Gary Cahill and a 34-year old John Terry provided one of the best defences in football for nearly 3 seasons together. Absolutely no reason why van Dijk can’t do the same with a partner, it will just take some adaptation.

10.) 16 Sep 2023 05:38:57
Well last season we had 6 12:30 Kick offs, so did City, United had 5, Newcastle had 5, just as a few examples, so I don’t think stats support the idea that we are unduly burdened with these kick off times compared to others. The bigger issue, I think, is we seem to do significantly worse in these time slots compared to other teams which is, unfortunately, our issue.

11.) 16 Sep 2023 06:03:33
@Seano_ The point of the 12:30 kick off was that we have had so many after international breaks, when players are travelling halfway across the world.

12.) 16 Sep 2023 06:23:14
Big Virgil is the team captain so of course he's going to go straight back into the XI.
Regarding his travails, I said at the time of his injury I'd cry if he struggled on his return.
I haven't quite burst into tears yet but it is upsetting seeing him not do what once came naturally.
Therein lies his issue, I hope. He has a very Hansen-like laconic style of playing that, post-injury, might not necessarily get him to positions where he needs to be.
It might be a case of him having to adjust his mindset, he's joined us mere mortals back on planet earth, and really push himself to get there.
He was once a football god, he can perhaps still be, but he has to get his hands dirty from now on. Not an easy realisation to make.
Anyway, with a player as good as van Dijk, the club and it's fans must support the man 100% and show him the love.
He's my favourite Liverpool defender of all time and I remain convinced he's still got plenty in the tank.

{Ed025's Note - favourite of all time Juicer??, hes a good player but does not make the top 10 best Liverpool defenders for me mate..

13.) 16 Sep 2023 06:49:56
Ed025 that’s overboard lol. van Dijk hasn’t reached the (unmatchable) heights of Hansen, Thompson, o Lawrenson but, then again, those three comprise probably the best defence ever seen in England and made 1-0 scorelines look like thrashings it was so easy for them. He’s definitely in the top 10 Liverpool defenders, though.

{Ed025's Note - that may depend on your age Lowel, you have just mentioned 3 centre halves who were miles better than VVD and you have not even scratched the surface when you look at full backs like Neal, Nichol, Kennedy, Hyppia, Smith, Lawler Byrne, Staunton etc, the term "not fit to lace their boots" comes to mind mate..

14.) 16 Sep 2023 08:54:40
Ahh lads, VvD has the speed of Lawrenson, the physicality of Rowdy, the distribution skills of Thompson on steroids, the ability to read a game like Hansen, the brutally of Tommy Smith but cleaned up on a catalytic converter for the 21st century lol.
I just really hope that, comme the season's end, I'm not singing that Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes classic "The love I lost".

15.) 16 Sep 2023 12:23:00
You don’t need recovery time from travel, they travel by private plane, not horse and cart. Lol.

16.) 16 Sep 2023 18:32:44
Van Dijk was clearly once in their class. Now he isn’t. Simple as that. He needs replacing in the next year or so.

17.) 16 Sep 2023 21:20:58
I doubt he is going to reach the level he was at - I’d love to be proved wrong - and I’m not sure that he would see himself as a squad player, to be honest. I’d say he’d be a likely target for Saudi / Qatar.

18.) 16 Sep 2023 09:06:27
Ed, Steve Staunton better than Van Dijk? Now you’re pulling our legs.

{Ed025's Note - i liked Staunton actually Lowel..

28 Jun 2023 18:13:46
If declan rice is worth 105m, what would a prime Steven Gerrard be worth? At least double imo?

Port red

{Ed025's Note - 8M I would say port..

1.) 28 Jun 2023 19:18:39
Think stevie left foot alone wouldve been worth £105m.

2.) 28 Jun 2023 19:46:09
I can't remember if Mourinho ever made an official bid for Gerrard when manager of Chelsea? Anyone remember how much if he did?

3.) 28 Jun 2023 19:58:32
We rejected £30m or £35m when Parry screwed up Gerrard's contract in 2005. But that was 2005, and £30-£35m was the highest fee paid for anyone (Essien to Chelsea) that season.

4.) 28 Jun 2023 20:48:35
Would be mental to think what some midfielders from recent years would be worth now in their prime Stevie, Scholes, Zidane, Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldinho to name a few.

5.) 28 Jun 2023 21:00:41
Zidane was over 50 million. At the time it was a Bonkers record and still the best business any club has ever done. I still feel bad for any fans who never got to see that genius play football.

{Ed025's Note - he was quality aoe, bit of a ping putter mind but besides that he was world class mate..

6.) 28 Jun 2023 21:25:11
86-90 maradona, goodness knows what he be worth.

7.) 28 Jun 2023 20:03:48
At a time when the transfer fees were lower, I seem to remember that Chelsea bid around £30-£40m for him with 1 year left? Is that about right Eds?

Also wasn't there a poster here called "Stevie G's Left Peg" a while back?

{Ed001's Note - it was around that much yes.}

8.) 28 Jun 2023 21:53:49
We will never have a midfielder as good as Gerrard it’s near impossible but I do have high hopes for Trent in that position. Good to see Elliot also doing well for u21’s hope he keeps improving.

9.) 28 Jun 2023 23:36:05
We were spoiled when we had alonso mach and Gerard.

10.) 29 Jun 2023 00:46:30
@bfddom absolutely agree had it all - skill, work rate and all of them could ‘put their foot in’. My favourite combo since the 80’s.

11.) 29 Jun 2023 14:11:58
Not sure any club would have been able to afford the likes of Pele, R9 and Maradona today.

12.) 30 Jun 2023 05:31:44
Ah-Hilal could.

10 Sep 2021 17:53:08
According to Martin lipton, Premier league clubs have agreed to defy fifa and play their "banned" players this weekend. About time clubs stood up to these corrupt money grabbing vultures. To invoke this rule is abs horrendous and shows they couldn't care less about player welfare.

Port red

1.) 10 Sep 2021 18:29:39
I wish our whole team would take a leaf out of Joel Matip's book and bin the boring and tedious International nonsense.

2.) 10 Sep 2021 18:48:26
Im glad we’re standing up to these corrupt money grabbing vultures last time we were one of them 😂.

3.) 10 Sep 2021 19:01:01
With respect, MK, there aren't many people on this site who've represented their country at international level. Having spoken to a few footballers over years, they consider it to be the pinacle of their careers. Me personally, I have very little interest but, like I say, I never played at the highest level.

4.) 10 Sep 2021 20:38:27
It was tongue in cheek, Rome. But like you i couldn't care less about England. In internationals i just hope no Liverpool players get injured or lose confidence playing under half wit managers.

5.) 10 Sep 2021 23:30:33
Think it’s sad that people on here aren’t patriotic, I would support my country if they was playing tiddlywinks tbh. I served in the armed forces along side many Scousers and their passion for their country was equal to their love for their city.

6.) 11 Sep 2021 00:45:08
+1 6 gold stars.

7.) 11 Sep 2021 09:12:47
Agreed 6 gold stars.

8.) 11 Sep 2021 10:20:08
Problem is, 6 gold stars, they are just too boring to watch. If they played attractive football they'd get a little more support but they don't, they bore people half to death.

9.) 11 Sep 2021 12:06:51
Agreed to a point Salah (see Wales v Estonia) . However not all internationals are snooze fests. The Euros had some cracking games. I think it’s the in thing at the moment to look down on internationals. Granted they’re not for everyone- I’m not a massive fan myself- but other fans and players are passionate so let them have it. Who doesn’t enjoy a World Cup neither?!

10.) 11 Sep 2021 16:11:01
Ask any athlete and he/ she will tell you that it's an honour to represent your country on the international stage. If some watchers don't derive any pleasure from it or see the benefit of it, then it's just a matter of personal preference. I doubt the athletes care much. I don't think it's just a matter about "patriotism" for the watchers or non-watchers. I think it's just an issue of personal preference (patriotism gets aroused eventually; depending on how hard you get pushed - again my opinion) .

Chelsea to leave super league, ed02 is there any repercussions for them as reports say the documents signed to join up were legally binding.

Port red

{Ed002's Note - No, I am sure Chelsea will be more than happy should Liverpool wish to go after them given the circumstances.}

1.) 20 Apr 2021 19:38:59
surely the premier league should dock them all 25 points minimum and let west ham leicester everton and wolves qualify for the champions league? this would make the most sense. You can't just get away with what that idiot PEREZ is doing.

20 Sep 2020 09:33:12
Morning eds and Reds, is thiago eligible for the squad today? Seen a few conflicting reports?

Port red

{Ed002's Note - No he is not.}

1.) 20 Sep 2020 09:48:31
Just goes to show then how much rubbish the media spout. I’ve seen loads of reports of him being in the squad and even some saying he could start Today 🤦🏻‍♂️.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 10:03:57
Thanks ed02,

3.) 20 Sep 2020 10:15:12
According to the official Liverpool F. C. site it has not yet been decided if he will take part, the suggestion being that he is available. We shall all know later!

4.) 20 Sep 2020 10:41:41
It seems that Liverpool did submit the paperwork by midday Friday then.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 10:44:49
He is as klopp has said he is.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 11:01:42
He’s injured already 👀😂.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 11:16:19
Lol nice one, Ed002 - he has travelled and is in the squad today.

8.) 20 Sep 2020 13:25:59
JC23, come on, now. You know how the media literally make stuff up out of nothing. They spent the whole week trying to create animosity and some fake rivalry between Klopp and Lampard to the point of them "hiring" some body Language expert to read Klopp's movements and concluded (shocking, I know) that Klopp has some animosity for Chelsea and Lampard.

Anyone that knows anything about football knows Thiago would never be ready to even be on the bench today cos he just got back from holiday and has next to no preseason in his legs BUT hey, don't let facts get in the way of some useless media agenda.

9.) 20 Sep 2020 13:53:47
You were saying mate?

10.) 20 Sep 2020 15:33:36
Anyone that knows anything about football knows Thiago would never be ready to even be on the bench today cos he just got back from holiday and has next to no preseason in his legs BUT hey, don't let facts get in the way of some useless media agenda.

Klopp obviously didn’t read the memo 👀😂.

11.) 20 Sep 2020 21:33:24
That post had so much arrogance and yet was so incorrect it's funny. What pre season did any club have to make a difference? The fact he was playing a CL final only weeks ago and also international games lately in fact would have made him far sharper than those who had a break. Look at bayern starting their season on fire despite having the shortest time for a pre season than any other side as the benefit to having a shorter break. Every player spent weeks during the C.V. to rest and recharge. There's no way any player will he suffering without a pre season as no club had long to prepare and hardly had only a couple of friendlies to prepare. Since our season finished thiago has played 3 top CL games and 2 Spanish games. Those 5 competitive games are miles more helpful than our players getting a couple of 45 min run outs against the likes of Blackpool. Even if he spent a week on a holiday do you honestly think he went so wild and harmed his fitness ahead of moving to new club and country? He's in fact far less rusty than any of our other midfielders who aren't as match ready.

Why on earth would salah want to play in that league, I've watched a couple of games, it's absolutely horrendous, like exhibition games, and as little as 650 at some games. He looks after himself so well, gets paid a fortune and seems like a guy who loves the competition, not the rubbish on offer over there.
