In regards to the Kovavic and Hernanes situation are the similar in what they bring to the game? Yes they both seem extremely accomplished players but unless they were pretty much of a similar mould why if we couldn't get 1st choice Kovavic would we go for 2nd choice? What does Hernanes bring? Would you see him as being a suitable fit if 1st choice doesn't go accordingly? How do you rate him in comparison?

{Ed002's Note - My view has not changed since May 13 when I said:

{Ed002's Note - As everyone has been very good today, I am going to offer up a little opinion that relates to Italy and is perhaps something folks want to mull over. And perhaps this could be considered the "marquee" signing everyone craves?

A little bit of a wild card, but here goes. Talks with Barcelona over Kovacic have not really come to any useful conclusion and no one seems interested in putting any sort of acceptable offer on the table for him Inter need to sell a couple of midfield players to bring in the replacements they want - like Liverpool they are constrained by previous spending and the FFP rules. So, Inter now say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible, and will make another player available - so I will throw the name of Brazilian Hernanes in to the ring as a player Liverpool might well consider. I appreciate that at 30 he is far from young, but he would be a very worthy free kick taking, goal scoring central midfield addition to the squad - and one to ably replace Gerrard. He is available and will be at a price that would suit Liverpool.

I would certainly advise the club to give him serious consideration.}"

Thanks for the info and your opinion ED002

2.) 27 Jun 2015 11:09:38
So are LFC declaring an interest in Hernanes?

{Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

3.) 27 Jun 2015 11:26:24
If we signed kova I would be happy but I feel Hernanes would be pointless because of his age. Kovacic is at a similar level too Hernanes now and should improve, and say they both take a year to fully settle, it would be near the end of his career at the top level. Unless the player is a significant improvment, or has potential to be our best cm, then we should stick to our boys currently.

4.) 27 Jun 2015 12:41:27
Your info from May on Hernanes was good ed. Let's see if we go for him. I think you might no more than your letting on in our interest in him lol. Good on Ya, I understand sometimes you keeping your cards close to your chest.

5.) 27 Jun 2015 13:13:26
A bit old - but i wouldn't mind hernanes if we can't get kovacic.

6.) 27 Jun 2015 13:22:00
Interesting the ed as a couple of papers have linked us with utds Hernandez in the last 24 hrs. Chineese whispers confusion maybe?? A bit like when we signed texeria and everyone thought we were after the other one. Lol

7.) 27 Jun 2015 14:05:01
Hernanes could be an excellent option for the deep playmaking role. I wouldn't be against it if we can't secure Kovacic for that role.

8.) 28 Jun 2015 13:11:27
Are we buying the whole Brazilian midfield? Last season we nearly bought the whole of Southampton.

05 Aug 2013 15:14:01
Is Yilmaz no longer an option? or was he never an option? Plus what is the crack with all these loan/loan to buy deals that we and many other clubs are looking at? I know not outlaying substantial amounts of money is a benefit but why is it happening so much now? {Ed002's Note - As far as I am aware Liverpool has not approached Galatasaray about Yilmaz.}

VVD aside what other options at centre back that could slip in seamlessly and steady our back 4? I feel we are half way there with Mario. Food for thought? Ta.

Red Moon

1.) 24 Jul 2017 19:02:58
I know you meant Matip because my phone also auto corrects it to Mario 😂

I would honestly be happy to let Gomez and Lovren compete for the other position. I really like Lovren's attitude and determination. You can see he is desperate to succeed at LFC.

If we were to sign a centre back though I'd just like somebody with a bit of a warrior approach. Koulibaly would do me.

2.) 24 Jul 2017 22:21:02
Mk scouser, I've only just realised your picture is an owl. Always thought it was like a Texas chainsaw massacre leatherface mask 😂.

3.) 25 Jul 2017 11:29:58
I agree with MK about Lovren. He is desperate to succeed and honestly I feel he has the quality but for some reason it hasn't full clicked for him yet.

What is the situation (if here is one) with regard to Marko Grujic? Again was supposed to have had massive potential and was a key player for Belgrade. I know has struggled with injuries but is he now not good enough to compete with Can etc? Cheers.

Red Moon

1.) 19 Mar 2017 09:54:43
Grujic has had many injury issues this season. Maybe not fully match fit for the first team. Has to regain full fitness playing for the U23's. Same case with Gomez.

If Grujic does not get sent on loan in the summer then he will definitely have to play regularly for the first team next season due to his work permit requirements.

2.) 19 Mar 2017 12:41:55
Really likee the look of Grujic during preseason. But he has hardly played this year.

Hope he does good next season.

Cheers.

3.) 19 Mar 2017 13:59:09
I really hope he has his breakthrough season in 2017/ 18. Would be genuine competition for Lallana and Gini and no doubt has world class potential to run our midfield for the forceeable future. The question is if he can stay fit for long periods to fulfill his potential.

{Ed025's Note - your being a bit premature there buzzer, the guy has done nothing yet to suggest he can replace anyone mate..

4.) 19 Mar 2017 17:23:22
He was brilliant in pre season and according to Ed002 is rated as one of Europe's finest talents by some well respected scouts so that is good enough for me.

{Ed025's Note - i suppose time will tell buzzer but potential means nothing mate..

5.) 19 Mar 2017 21:04:37
He is starting to play well in the U23 as he recovers from his injury issues and gains confidence. Has some nice touches and controls the midfield well. Needs more time though.

{Ed002's Note - The whole thing is fraught with issues - none of which relate to his fitness.}

{Ed002's Note - The whole matter is fraught with major issues - none of which relate to his fitness. A series of lessons to be leared.}

Ant chance of a surprise new face before 6pm or are we just looking at off loading a few? Thanks in advance.

Red Moon

1.) 01 Sep 2015 11:32:43
The back of Enrique's arse is the only face I want to see today.
(And yes, I know that makes no sense)

{Ed002's Note - It remains incredibly embarrassing how poorly the Liverpool fans treat the players.}

2.) 01 Sep 2015 11:33:54
We need to offload more than a few. We have far far too many players on the books.

3.) 01 Sep 2015 11:35:13
Yes there is a surprise new face.
:)

There it is, I hope that clears things up and gives us great optimism going forward.

4.) 01 Sep 2015 12:08:28
Sorry Ed2, but the embarrassing thing is Enrique's lack of workrate and desire to play for Liverpool. If I was earning 60k per week I would push my body to its limits every day.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid not. The worlds most fickle fans constantly embarrass themselves moaning about past players, current players, potential future players, the owners, the manager, the staff .... everything.}

5.) 01 Sep 2015 12:51:27
I'm sure you do read a lot of bitching alright, especially about Rodgers, and especially from Ed001. ;)

6.) 01 Sep 2015 12:56:24
I honestly don't think you can judge fans from a website that contains a minute percentage of the actual fans.
the reason people come on this site tends to be to express frustration aloud because people want to get it off their chest. A site like this is always going to attract much negativity. Plus to be honest I know a lot of other fans get just as fickle.

7.) 01 Sep 2015 15:13:27
I think its ok to moan about the club when its in such a mess.
Aren't sites like this meant for that?
Honest discussions about the club (good and bad points) away from the ground, so we can then give unconditional support on a match day for the full 90 minutes?

Ed002 is constantly talking about the financial mess the club is in, aren't the players who are at the club on big contracts but not playing part of that problem?

8.) 01 Sep 2015 16:41:50
Sorry Ed but Enrique's commitment has been nothing short of a disgrace. Should we be sad when a player who has shown no application or dedication to the club leaves? Why should we care and respect a player who doesn't care or respect any aspect of the club? I don't think it's harsh to be happy when such a poor player leaves the club. Same applies to Balotelli - why is it embarrassing to be happy when someone of his ilk leaves? Fans work hard for their money and pay a high price to see their team and then are treated to the likes of Balotelli (yeah let's smoke and piss around with an iphone rather than train) and Enrique (let's go on holidays to dubai mid-season and constantly update my twitter about how little I do and little I care about being a professional footballer). No, good riddance to bad rubbish - they do not deserve fans the respect.

{Ed002's Note - The Liverpool fans treat all of the players equally badly, except ironically one who was desperate to leave the club and dragged the name of the club through the gutter. Go figure.}

22 Jul 2015 10:46:27
From what we are being led to believe Big Ben could be the last buy this window but who in your opinion can fill the void left by Gerrard and even Suarez in the set piece area? Obviously Henderson sees himself as an option but other than that what other options do we have? I know Hernanes was mentioned as being a good option in past posts but unless the squad is trimmed substantially (mainly midfield) then no one else would bought to give us that option. Is there anyone else that could step up as I didn't see the quality really needed NOW from Henderson when called upon last season? Thanks

Red Moon

1.) 22 Jul 2015 11:01:13
Seen benteke score a few. Henderson is also capable .

2.) 22 Jul 2015 11:10:10
Coutinho?

Think of the city/southampton goals but from free kicks instead of open play?

3.) 22 Jul 2015 11:26:06
Benteke,Henderson,Milner,Coutinho.

4.) 22 Jul 2015 11:49:20
How many did we score last season ? should be 0.

5.) 22 Jul 2015 13:14:47
Millners delivery has been looking pretty awesome in this preseason.

6.) 22 Jul 2015 13:54:46
Milner is meant to be quite good at freekicks.

7.) 22 Jul 2015 14:40:53
Henderson for delivery into the box and benteke when in shooting range plus sturridge when fit and in a shooting position better suited to a left peg

13 Jul 2015 23:28:12
I know back a few months ago it was mentioned Walcott could have been a possibility as a replacement for Sterling? Has he signed a new Arsenal deal yet. If not, and if the Benteke interest disappears, could he not be a perfect choice as an up top striker (where he wishes to play) but could also do the same as Sterling out wide if needed?
Thoughts? Cheers

Red Moon

1.) 14 Jul 2015 00:47:13
Agree 100% with this, Walcott upfront would suit better than Benteke while Sturridge injured, and once Sturridge back he can play either twin striker in a diamond or on the wing if we go to a 4-3-3, replacing Sterling out wide.

Kills two birds with one stone and if we can get him for c.20mln then a better option than Benteke at 32.5mln.

2.) 14 Jul 2015 03:26:57
Firstly Walcott is a winger,secondly he is injury prone.If Walcott gets injured early in the season then we are left with inexperienced striker,then people start saying that manager doesn't have brain to buy an out and out striker.Why do we care about money it is in interest of owners and committee members,they will knoe the risks.All that matters is to buy an out and out striker.

{Ed001's Note - Walcott is a striker. He gets played out wide, but he is a striker, ask him.}

3.) 14 Jul 2015 06:14:42
Walcott is a perfect fit and I have said this the other day. He would blend in well with our amigos behind.

Ed, has Skrtel signed a new deal yet ?is there one in the waiting or could this be one that we have to wait and see who is in charge? We all can remember his debut against Havant and Waterlooville, he was woeful and hasn't improved massively other than adapt to the English game in my opinion. We have so many who could be quality alternatives in the squad that may be better. Give them a shot instead of wasting an ability that at some point we thought was a worthwhile addition whether it be free or even costing 7 million.

Red Moon

{Ed001's Note - he has yet to sign it, but he has had one offered.}
