Afternoon Eds.
What's the latest on the Caicedo craziness?
Do you think he will be revealed at the game today? Talk of a half-time announcement?
The only way to combat this is to be 3 nill up at half time ??.

Red Viking

{Ed002's Note - The situation does not involve Liverpool.}

1.) 13 Aug 2023 15:38:12
Apparently henry and his wife are at the match! Imagine caicedo sitting next to them lol.

2.) 13 Aug 2023 15:51:11
This is only what I read in an article

-------------It is nonsense--------------

3.) 13 Aug 2023 15:57:49
If I were you Red Viking I wouldn't concern yourself with what Chelsea and Caicedo do. We can't change it, no point thinking about. It's gone, time to move on. Worry about our club not them ?.

4.) 13 Aug 2023 16:54:38
Sounds like the jamman read an article written by Carra ?.

5.) 13 Aug 2023 19:28:21
Have Chelsea actually made an offer since the. ‘Auction deadline’ which I think was Thursday that exceeds Liverpool’s offer?

6.) 13 Aug 2023 22:10:14
Who cares. Chelsea aren't worth worrying about. Horrible club, Horrible owner and will do the same as they have for last few years. Sack the manager after a few weeks and win nothing.

14 Jun 2022 17:39:54
Hi Eds, how far off are we off to agreeing a fee for Mane? Do you think we are likely to get the £40m+ we were hoping for (inc realistic addons)

Red Viking

{Ed002's Note - His agent is trying to keep it alive after Liverpool pissed them offer and they spoke to two other clubs about options. There will be a final take it or leave it offer to the player and Liverpool I understand.}

1.) 14 Jun 2022 19:07:25
"Take our 20m guaranteed with another 50p if Mane gets 70 Bundesliga goals a season for the next 3 years or i remove my offer". your really p#$$ing me off now!

2.) 14 Jun 2022 19:20:21
Jus reading a few reports saying lfc willing to integrate manè back into first team squad if bayern don't meet our valuation. Surley this a poker game at the min to see who flinches first, we won't have signed Darwin and KEEP manè along with rest of forwards we have surley?

3.) 14 Jun 2022 19:33:46
Can you please explain how Liverpool p. ed them off Ed002? Surly rejecting an offer that was well short of our valuation is our prerogative. Throw in to the equation the silly add on clauses, it should be Liverpool who are a little annoyed…. or is there more to it?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I have dealt with this already.}

4.) 14 Jun 2022 19:40:44
ED002 why did you say Liverpool p. ed them off, By simply refusing the first two offers?

Thanks for all the hard work you all the ED's do.

{Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with.}

5.) 14 Jun 2022 20:07:44
Bayern know what they need to do. is that not the normal line?

{Ed002's Note - No. It is not that.}

6.) 14 Jun 2022 20:08:38
Don’t call me shirley.

7.) 14 Jun 2022 19:48:34
It’s disrespectful yo not accept and offer that falls 25% short (apparently) of our valuation of a contracted player who hasn’t officially informed the club that he wants to leave, who said he would have a special statement for the fans after the CL Final and who has attempted to show his desire to leave the club through very heavy handed banter with the press whilst overseas.

It’s a clear example of the usual poor way that the club handle these things apparently.

8.) 14 Jun 2022 20:25:45
In my book Bayern can be as pi$$ed off as they want. When Barcelona come low balling them, they won't be bending over and taking an offer that they see is much less than Lewandowski's value.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be so embarrassing. Idiot.}

9.) 14 Jun 2022 21:59:15
It seems like Liverpool football club very often p. es off clubs they deal with whether they're the buying club or selling club. Lose-lose.

10.) 14 Jun 2022 22:05:49
WDW well said.

11.) 14 Jun 2022 21:33:51
I think €50m for a near 34 year old is perfectly reasonable for Bayern to demand when there offering us peanuts for Sadio! the bayern money men are the only ones that should be embarassed, like seriously did they really expect a club of lfc's stature to put up with that c#@p?

12.) 14 Jun 2022 21:41:32
I don’t understand why we’re playing hardball over mane. He has been wonderful for us and it is in best interest of both parties for him to leave now. Better to clear his wages and receive c£20m than to keep hold of an unhappy player, bloating our squad and receiving nothing when he leaves on a free the following year.

Shame to see mane go though, I have supported Liverpool since 2000, it only took about 15 years for us to sign a wide player of his quality!

Ed sorry if this has been covered but what is the issue? I thought it was the ridiculous clauses but you imply it is more Liverpool?

13.) 14 Jun 2022 21:59:15
It seems like Liverpool football club very often p. es off clubs they deal with whether they're the buying club or selling club. Lose-lose.

14.) 14 Jun 2022 22:05:21
Thanks for the reply Ed02. The search seems to be down again? Same Sql error?
I missed what we have done to a annoy Bayern? Was it talking to other clubs?
As much as I'd like to keep Mane, and keep strong against Bayern after some insulting offers, we don't want this dragging on for weeks and have an unhappy player (although I'd imagine he would be professional about it) .

15.) 14 Jun 2022 22:05:49
WDW well said.

16.) 15 Jun 2022 01:05:54
Jason Havertz, “€50m” (if that’s the real number) for a player who’s scored 30-60 (all comps) pretty much every season for the last 10 years including 52 this last season and been ballon d’or nominated (and which many agree was robbed of the title against messi in 2020 or 2021) Whilst Mane has been on the decline for the last 18 months according to most fans on this board ? granted mane scored 21 goals last season but half the goals = half the price ?.

17.) 15 Jun 2022 05:38:25
Well said WDW. We are not playing hardball but we are trying to get as much as possible for a player the same as any club would do. Why is it different when it's us? I don't buy this rubbish that we have p. ed people off etc. You want the player? Pay up. We owe mane nothing. You think he's played for free? Come on, grow up. It's business. As has been said many times, BM know what they need to do. pay up. If not, shut up.

18.) 15 Jun 2022 06:37:47
Yes fuser but he hasn't been nearly 34,with a year left on his contract and making it known PUBLICLY that he wants to leave for the last 10 years has he? let's face it there's every chance Mane is the better of the two over the next 3 years at the end of which Lewa will be nearly 37.Then Bayern'll try shift sadio for €50m.

19.) 15 Jun 2022 06:47:26
@Man. of. todd: Liverpool have placed a value on their asset and it seems reasonable enough given the level that Sadio has been playing at for the past two or three years (with the exception of the first third of this season when he was poor) .

They are running a business and expect potential buyers to understand it’s a business too. If you wanted a new car and the price was advertised at £42k and you offered the dealer £30k what do you reckon would be the response?

20.) 15 Jun 2022 08:33:05
So Mane is an unhappy player who is bloating our squad now?
All this from reading clickbait.
YNWA and all that, unless I read some juicy rumours.

21.) 15 Jun 2022 07:24:04
Ed002 trying to search for went wrong between us and BM. was it asking too much or backing from a pre agreed price?

{Ed002's Note - It is not worth opening this up again.}

22.) 15 Jun 2022 11:31:59
How can a selling club ask too much? they set a price and if someone wants to pay it they do and if they don't they dont. €50m is not too much for Sadio Mane.

23.) 15 Jun 2022 18:39:05
There is nothing to open up but malicious gossip.

Is there definitely no chance until the Summer now? Any extensions?
If not, do you definitely think we will be back in for him in the summer?

Reports that a fee has been agreed with Madrid for Suarez?
Apparently there is a 40m release? Any turth in this Eds?
If so, it is down to Suarez? Do you think that will be the end of him in a LFC shirt? {Ed001's Note - it is not a release clause, just allows them to speak to Luis. If he likes their offer he will force his way out like he did to join us, players have the power.}

Hi Eds and Reds,
I'm excited at the idea of either Ancelotti or Klopp (Klopp probably being my favourite). But I was wondering who you think is the best for working on develping the youth and giving them a chance.
I think we have a lot of potential in the youth team still and it would be great to see them given a chance rather than spending another £100m.

From your knowledge, who would you think will use the youth effectively? or will both of them?

Red Viking

{Ed002's Note - Please see previous answers.}

26 Jun 2015 11:54:35
It is now said that Arda Turan is looking for a move to the Prem and they are in talks with 3 clubs.
I know he is a big Liverpool fan, are we interested at all? And if so do you know what other clubs and what the likelihood of us getting him (if we are interested)

Red Viking

{Ed030's Note - I doubt it, would be a good signing though. }

1.) 26 Jun 2015 14:04:37
Would have been a great signing 2 season ago also. I was frustrated before when we could have maybe got him. He is quality

2.) 26 Jun 2015 16:24:31
That ship has sailed

Not a great game. Far too risky. But 1st game back. The most positive.

What a couple of full backs we have! Awesome

Personally I don't think Suarez will be with us still at the start of the season.
I also think it is not neccessarily a bad thing. Yes. He probably is the best player in the world at the moment. But if we can get the equivalent of £80+ million or a player with mobey. It gives us a great chance to build a team rather than build it on one player.
Yes, he will be missed. But if we could get Sanchez in and 3 more quality players in other positions with the money I think we will be in a better position. He is a fantastic player but it may be the right tine to move on. He has given us a fantastic season and we can not argue if he decides to leave now.
I think it makes sense for us to sell now as long as we getvthe right price

Red Viking

11 Jun 2014 13:25:58
I personally would be gutted to see Suso move on, and if it is only for 4 million, i'd keep him and try and get him a commitment the following year if he proves himself, the most we could lose is £4m and his wages, or he could be the next big thing for us.
We have all seemed to think Rodgers believes in the Youth, but could this not be because he has HAD to use them due to the small squad?
I just think it would be a big waster to lose Suso, and hope he stays on.
Anyone agree with the fact the BR might not be the big believer in the youth policy that we thought he was?

What are your thought on the latest Ed? Is it all out of nothing, or is there something to it? Chelsea coming in with another bid maybe? or that they are intending to? Or something else?
Any info?

I cannot understand Southampton not wanting to drop their valuation, but in defense of the way we are managing it, I can't imagine that there were many on this group who would have been happy to pay £50m for Lavia a few months back.
He has obviously become our main target, but we can't just go throwing money about when it seems that we don't have much to go around. ideally we want to see him as well as another 2 players come in (might be tough now), but under the financial constraints, and as frustrating as it is, we've got to look after the pennies.
Personally I'd prefer this to go on another week and save a bit if it means we can get the other players in that we need.

Just to clarify. These comments were from another fan on a fb page. But I thought it was brilliant and well worth sharing. As you say ArAy, if he is even half of that, he sounds like he'll be a great asset. It could be a blessing in disguise that we got pushed to this signing (unless it was planned all along) .
I hope it brings some positivity to the posts anyway, give the guy a chance to prove himself and give the young players a chance to come up.
Personally i can't wait to see him play, i've seen a few highlight reels as well (I know I know) and he does seem like the type of player described. So let's get behind him and hope we've discovered just what we needed.

I found this on a fb post from a Japanese Liverpool fan. Hope it's fine to post, but I thibk it's brilliant

1. He is versatile and fills so many of our problem positions and he will do so with discipline. Predominantly a defensive midfielder and we will come on to his qualities there, but he is very capable at CB having started his career there (left sided centreback to cover Van Dijk) and can play both fullback positions. He is a lot more vocal than Gomez, Ibou or Matip so he would fill in that leadership role and his English is not bad. For someone who is 5'10, he is absolutely dominant in the air. Reminds me of Roberto Ayala in that regard.

2) Liverpool and Klopp specifically, hoards captains such as Robbo, Salah, Van Dijk, etc and Endo is both captain of Japan and Stuttgart and he leads by example as well as vocally. Just rewatch the World Cup and him getting everyone into shape and leading the warm ups and cool downs. He will be the one that leads the youngsters through the games in the early cup rounds.

3) He is MEAN and a total hard nut boss. Minamino is super nice and super shy and probably a cute teachers pet. Endo is a straight edge player and won't take crap from any opposition and slacking from any team member. His obsession with winning is scary. Think about it, a Japanese fella, waltzing into the German league and taking the captaincy. He really is like Milner in this regard.

4) He is 30 years old. People are saying it as a negative. Remember, Mourinho and Conte love the 30 year old proven quality players, as they know the role, have seen everything and played on the biggest stages and can be relied on to be disciplined. You also know how they react and perform historically and not just a 1 season wonder or with limited stats like Lavia. These players are bought to win NOW. Remember how upset Conte got at the up and coming Djed Spence (big resale value, big potential etc) .

5) Every squad needs players with huge availability and ability. He is never injured. He is of the Park Ji Sung, Nicky Butt, Conor Gallagher, Gilberto Silva, Henderson, Wijnaldum type mould where they are not the super flashy players, but they absolutely will TANK the opposition, retain the ball, keep things going and play the water carrier role.

6) He is 2 footed and CAN SCORE. He is a baller, not just a destroyer. Don't be confused because he is aggressive, persistent and a great tackler. He has the streetballer vibe like Suarez where it doesn't always look conventional, but he caresses the ball with finesse. He scored the crucial goal to keep Stuttgart up from relegation.

7) Stuttgart fans are DEVASTATED to lose him. That means a lot. Its not a split fan base decision, they all love and respect him so much and what he means to them as a person and as a player. Additionally, there is no doubt Klopp follows the Bundesliga and will know all about Endo in depth. Jorg will have run the rule as well and decided together, that Endo can help us NOW. You think Klopp will give the green light for a stop gap, when he wants to win things this season?

8) The price of Endo does not dictate his ability. He has a year left and it was his dream to play in England and win something big. He is without a shadow of a doubt, a better player than Lavia right now, which is what is really important for the current season.

9) He wants to play for Liverpool and came at the first calling. Never forget reds, how much that intent actually means. A talented, earnest, quality player, who will do as Klopp wants, has the ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate a game with 110% effort and endeavour and has come from the Bundesliga which stylistically, is the most similar league to the Premier League, so will take minimal adjusting. He also will not try to run when Madrid and Barcelona come flirting like a certain Caicedo and will not complain about game time potentially like a Lavia who didn't want to play second fiddle.

10) This is what we wanted for Bajcetic. To give him a chance to be eased into the team and claim his place when he has the consistency and fitness. Endo will fight for his life for the team and his place, but would be the top cheerleader for Stefan if he breaks through. A real team player.

11) Endo was in our eyes, the player of the match in the wins over Germany and Spain and shackled Luka Modric like a mad dog. There are not many players who are as slippery and as quality as Luka.

12) Endo's signing pays for itself with commercial ventures. Future generations of Japanese super talents will want to follow in his footsteps and the technical talent and mental fortitude of Japanese players is a trademark!

Thanks Ed,
What's your thoughts on his position? He seems to suit the holding role well, but he does have a good strike on him.
I guess he is a good box to box midfielder as well, but what are your thoughts on his best position?
If he goes in the summer, do you think we will look for a holding midfielder as a replacement, or is someone lined up for it? I know we have Handerson and Wijnaldum and some youngsters, but I think they play a different role than Can.
Thanks.

Red Viking

{Ed001's Note - he is more of a box to box player who wants to get in and score goals. Keita will replace him in the forward role, I assume the club will start the search for a new holding role throughout the season.}
