Ed001
Lets say Villa went down, as it looks like right now, would Mings be a solution, homegrown as well?

Red-JC

{Ed001's Note - a solution for what? Ball boy? He is nowhere near good enough for the Prem, let alone a team looking to win trophies.}

1.) 09 Jul 2020 20:51:57
Was thinking about a ball-boy, but they hardly qualify as homegrown then.
Who would your choise as centerback be, beside Gomez.

{Ed001's Note - personally I would go for Malang Sarr from what I have seen of him, he is a free agent I believe, 21, quick and can cover left-back.}

2.) 09 Jul 2020 21:00:31
Make the call please ed LOL.

3.) 09 Jul 2020 21:00:58
Apparently that was a penalty 😳😳.

{Ed001's Note - ? That was Konsa that was fouled but somehow judged to have fouled Bruno, not Mings.}

4.) 09 Jul 2020 21:05:18
We're going for record points total they're going for record number of pens 🤦‍♂️😂.

5.) 09 Jul 2020 22:35:16
Is he left footed ed - malang sarr.

{Ed002's Note - That would be a question for Mavis Wavertree.}

6.) 09 Jul 2020 23:44:02
How can people watch matches and have such embarrassingly poor judgments of players? No, Tyrone Mings is not, and never will be, even close to being even close to being good enough to play for Liverpool.

7.) 10 Jul 2020 00:49:57
He's just another in a long line of defenders who are over valued and over rated simply because they are British defenders during a period where the overall lack of quality in defenders sees so many getting higher respect than their worth. To think mings cost roughly 30mil, stones 50mil, Keane 25-30mil, Tierney 25mil, Maguire 75mil or whatever, walker and AWB both 50mil fees. The fact that 4 English defenders currently went for fees above 50mil sums up the hype. 3 of those 4 realistically don't even hold first team spots for their country. Trent, Gomez, chilwell who were developed from youth and not hyped up with drastic transfers over rating their worth are showing they can progress stronger. The examples of Ashley Williams, Luke Shaw, Nathaniel clyne, Glen Johnson, Kieran trippier, steven caulker are evidence of mediocre defenders only rated highly for enjoying a short time of form and being British. Shawcross, Alfie mawson, Scott dann, David wheater were all at one point seemingly regarded as good enough to move to a top side. I rate Tyrone mings in that category of player who gets away with being poor yet regarded highly by too many for no reason.

8.) 10 Jul 2020 01:23:07
Absolutely lowel. His name should not really be mentioned in connection to our club.

The only problem with signing a cb who can also play lb ed01, is that we would then have 2 cbs who play lcb, and one of those is vvd who never misses a game. Then again it means we would have 2 lcbs and 2 rcbs.

I have massive faith in gomez, still improving, highly experienced for a youngster ish. What was all that with sterling though? How can a little 5.ft 5 winger put the fright into a big strapping cb? Aren't forwards, especially wingers supposed tk be scared to death of cbs.

So watching Ed2 and Ed1 disagree on the skills og Jürgen Klopp is actually great, that shows there independence on here.
But Ed2 by bringing in Kornmayer, don't you think Klopp has learnt a lesson from his last years in germany?

Another one for Ed1. I rember Deportivo in the late 90 or mabye early 00, mabye inventing the 4-3-2-1 system, Benitez adopting it later, is that correct?

They also had a lot og freekick varaitys (spelling i'm danish) . Why doesn't teams try to be a bit more creative With the freekicks around the box, is it the players insisting being the hero of the day or?

In the same Category, I remember Mexico having very much succes with their ability to pull half of the opposition offside, with freekicks into the box. Has anyone tried this in the prem, or is it to much a risk with so many different language in the teams today?

Red-JC

{Ed001's Note - Rafa played a 4-2-3-1, though there is very little real difference between the two. Rafa would watch football and constantly evolve his style slightly, he never really adopted one style as such.

As for free kicks, the reason so few teams bother with free kick routines is because they take so much effort to learn and set them up and you can only use them once in blue moon or the opposition are ready for them.

Lots of teams try variations to get opponents off side, from leaving a couple of players in an offside position and having them drop back just before it is taken to the old fashioned fake to take and then take.}

1.) 08 Jul 2016 06:17:41
Ed while you are commenting on Rafa, why was he so distant from the players?

It's well documented in the media of stevie and xabi and co commenting about how distant he was, was there any particular reason for this and do u think it was effective?

Regards.

{Ed001's Note - because he didn't want difficult decisions influenced by personal feelings towards players if he became friendly to them. A bit like the way Wenger and Hodgson persist with Jack Wheelchair because they like him, despite him being entirely average, always injured and having a dreadful attitude.

It was effective when he had Pako to act as the friendly uncle and put his arm round the players, while Rafa stood off and watched from a distance. Without that buffer, it failed. If he has the right number two assisting him, then Rafa's style works well.}

2.) 08 Jul 2016 06:42:54
@Niallo - good question and equally interesting response from the Ed.

3.) 08 Jul 2016 08:46:51
Red-JC mentioned the issue of plethora of different languages, many a time I noticed that lack of communication especially between the midfield and back four. I read somewhere that Klop has enrolled the team in some kind of communication improvement programme. I hope this is true.

4.) 08 Jul 2016 09:38:17
Ed001, interesting response about Rafa, and it failing without Pako. But didn't we finish 2nd, just missing out, well after Pako had gone?

{Ed001's Note - it takes time for changes to show their full effects mate. Nobody realised how much we would miss Valero for years.}

5.) 08 Jul 2016 09:47:53
Fair point. I always felt it was such a shame shame Pako left, and no doubt you're right about Valero too. It's frustrating that so many poor decisions have been made over the years, which have held us back.

6.) 08 Jul 2016 10:17:35
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I love posts and threads like these, massive thanks to posters and ED1 for this beauty.

To be honest i think the eds could write a book. I love reading stuff like that from eds01 and also i like reading his analysis of players from the older generations i was born in 92 so i missed the earlier years of the redmen but i still love learning about all the old greats and managers also i really love readings ed2s insights into the business side of football more. I like coming on here just for the banter and stuff but i read a lot of just what the eds are saying you can learn a lot!

So just A little to comment on for you lot.
Watching every comment(most og them) and many by surprise. Must compliment every ed on here, great respons every clear and realistic great!

So here I go all the way from Denmark(looking forward seeing the redskab play here tomorrow).

Surely Suarez's goals will be missed next season, but!

1. Sturridge is mabye the player contributed most to the team, as a new player(Conducting himself outside the pitch too, right eds?) But scoring from the first match and regular from that Day. Will he miss, the assists from Suarez, sure but I bet you that he missed many selfish acts from Suarez and could have scored easyli 5 more if Suarez wasn't only watching for his own chance, eds?

2. Henderson, Lallana, Gerrard, Lambert, Flannagan, Sterlig, Ibe is players who will give their most for the shirt, their dream is to play exactly right here at Anfield, so will always run the ekstra mile.

3. Lovren will tighten the defence up, but bot having Suarez will actually be one teamplayer more, we did not consede many goals for the first 6 matches last season, the balance is always hard with A selfish player. Will still miss him, not trying so slag him off.

4. Rodgers, A teamplayer getting the best out of every player, if its possible. Ever since januar 2013, I don't think many teams has gatthered more points than us? Eds? He Got us playing forward, taking risks linke the Chelsea match, we want to win by playing good football. Every defeat he has learned from, and I only Think loosing to City and Chelsea at Christmas was the only back to back defeat since january 13.

5. We are not here to succeed for one season, we are here to stay. There is every much invested in our youth setup, this will benefit the club allready this year. Barca are in decline, Arsenal starting too pay Big wages, no longer such A young team. United are going to buy like Madrid. We might even be the darlings of Europe for the comming years like we once were, like Dortmund. We fans must behave, act with pride and support every red player, and thais from Aspas to Gerrard, we are A unit, as Didi said, we all leave together and we all go home together, we leave no one behind!

6. So don't wish for Reus, Benzema, Cavani, Hummels and so on. Support WHO ever comes in, support WHO is allready here, and don't ever be affraid cause the others Got all the expensive ones. We are Liverpool - You Never Walk Alone - and thanx to every ed, you are the light in the transfer dark.

Please disagree or agree and let's hear where we are heading?

Is it just me, thought 4 wins and a draw makes it 5 games?
But agree, VAR is a joke, absolutely waste of time and money. Looks like a bunch of men at my age sittin with their glasses on top of their heads looking to find anything, but can actually see nothing.

Now we’re discussing the fluid back-system, or lack of systeme, Arsenal started using it last season too, with Zchenko playing that role. They seems to want to play like city all the time. Salah tormented them in that game, we were just too bad defensively yourself. I think they will try the same as u’s this season, so it will be a walk in the park for United, City and Chelsea claming top four next year.
It seems, and that's the question for ed1, that Kloop trust persons lige Pep L and otters too much and seems to stubborn to change things before its too late. Like ladt season, shifting back to the press too late, the season with all our defenders crocked, starting too play Phillips and the Young lad too late. Why doesn’t he change things before it goes wrong, I thought that was one of his strog sides the first years with us?

Red-JC

{Ed001's Note - because he is loyal, too loyal at times, and will stand by those he trusts. But that is also part of the reason for his success, because his loyalty makes players play better for him. It is a difficult road to walk, to be loyal to those around you but not to the point of letting them walk you into difficulties.}

Hey Ed001

Do you think that borh Vinegaard and Pogadjar is using drugs these days? The danish press, I’m being a dame myself, has not been asking a single question about doping for the last three years. Mabye everybody wants to believe in a fairytale, where the very likeable J Vinegaard from little Denmark, a small town with only 1000 citycents, beats the Big names.
He was a very ordinary biker in his younger years, and everybody asked about it, would never have thought that he would actually be prof at all.
It was the same with Riis, he is still sine kind of a hero i Denmark.
What du you think?

Red-JC

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea who he is sorry. I don't follow cycling. But the sport of cycling (sport in general to be honest) is simply not clean, so there is a good chance he is doping.}

Did you actually watch the same game as me? Keita was awfull, lost the ball again and again, didn’t track back and took way too many touches. 2 or 3 times he could have played a quick ball to Arnold og Salah, but it seems he doesn’t see it, and that is the most worying thing. And he never threatens the goal, absolutely waste of space.
Worying for the defence out of position most of the game, actually a very poor game from Liverpool, also waisting so many options in front of goal.
Great seeing Gordon getting the chances, the bright spot on a bad day.

Silva was outstanding at City, Mount has impressed at Chelsea and Lewandowski just isane, 41 goals in the League with just 18 teams.
Former players, Maradonna was absolutely the best, but I’ve Got a favorite in Batistuta who was loyal to Firenze and one of the best 9 in the last decade. And he allmost og mabye almost ended up at Anfield.
Mabye Redondo og Caniggha.
