Evening Eds. Away from the MC situation. There's a report we've made a bid for Goncalo Inacio. Now I think I saw an Ed say we've burnt our bridges with his current club. But have you heard anything else?

Thanks.

RedDan

{Ed002's Note - He has a release clause Liverpool could look to invoke.}

1.) 11 Aug 2023 21:51:24
Don’t Ed. Don’t give us hope.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 21:53:29
The situation regarding MC has certainly taken a few twists and turns. Fair play to the lad as he has stuck to his word. He agreed personal terms wirh Chelsea dating back to may and he is just following through with his agreement. Looks a magnificent player but you win some and you lose some. I’m just confused as to why it’s taken toll August to agree a deal if personal terms were agreed in may?

3.) 11 Aug 2023 22:51:00
Genuinely not trying to be a smart arse when I say this, but I’m presuming Chelsea haven’t had permission to discuss terms with the player as they’ve never had a bid accepted. It’s been reported that terms have been agreed since end of may, can that be true?

{Ed002's Note - As has been explained, they have been speaking to his agents. What problem do you see?}

4.) 11 Aug 2023 23:05:14
Ed I am sorry but am I making the right conclusion that the issue with Sportig is solved and the clause for zinacio may be payed?
Thank you for all your information.

{Ed002's Note - No, payment, single amount in full may work.}

Hi Eds
We all MF is going to be the priority for the summer but what are your thoughts at RB? TAA has had a season to forget, Gomez/ milner aren't the answer and according to reports Ramsey will be sent on loan next season. IMO we need another RB to give Trent some competition as at the moment he knows he's first choice. Do u know of any decent RBs available this summer?, Thanks.

RedDan

{Ed002's Note - Obviously there are RBs available but Liverpool have not been looking for one.}

1.) 05 Apr 2023 15:53:10
My guess is Klopp will stick with TAA at RB with Gomez, Milner, Ramsey as backups. However, I think we severly need a athletic sprint monster on the RCM position, a prime Hendo, Laimer, Caciedo type player to help trent. I like Elliot but he's more of a Bruno Fernandez type player- who would be useful and nice on the eye if given the freedom to roam about. However, having him, Mo, and TAA covering the right side is an absolute diaster, especially when Matip is on that side who doesn't have the legs to make up the ground. I find (sometimes) Konates attritubes can help cover this problem up only to a certain extend. Throw in a defensive midflielder who looks banjaxed in Fabinho and its no wonder so many attacks and goals come down our right side. For Trent to be the baller he is, we need to be on the front foot, pressing high again and with an athlecitc young Hendo type player with legs in him to cover ground. And I solid, aware DMF. As poor as Trent has been this season. 3 midfielders are pririority over a RB imo.

2.) 05 Apr 2023 16:46:27
Hopefully Ramsey will be fit for pre-season and we can take a look at him. I don't think we need another RB at this time.

We may however find ourselves needing cover for Robbo if Tsimikas is moved on.

3.) 05 Apr 2023 18:11:37
Tsimikas was awful last night constantly losing possession, out of position, then took a corner that never even got above the height of the grass.

Why can't Bradley come back and play as a right footed left back next season, he would be far better than a liability, and we would not have to pay for Robbos understudy also, and might even get a fee for Tsimikas though it won't be much!

Joey Jones was right footed these also, Peter Wall, Gerry Byrne, Emlyn Hughes first played as a left back, Denis Irwin who played for you know who, was also a very good right footed left back.

4.) 05 Apr 2023 18:23:06
Caicedo at 70m doesn't look like an LFC purchase, i reckon they will look for better value elsewhere, although he does look like an ideal, prem ready player.

I wonder to what extent the clear out will happen, and how long it will take to settle a bunch of new players in. It may be another write off season next season.

5.) 05 Apr 2023 18:39:54
The daily mirror run this article today that LFC have switched their attention to Caicedo of Brighton, after Wolves removed a clause from Matheus Nunes' contract that would have allowed the 24 year old to join the reds for £44 million this summer.

The daily mail ran this article today also, LFC, man utd and spurs have expressed an interest in activating the £40 million release clause of Napolis South Korean defender Kin Min-jae who is 26.

6.) 05 Apr 2023 18:59:21
007, I completely agree. Once I saw that corner I told my mate he should be subbed and sold immediately lol. It was probably the worst corner ever. It bewilders me when professional footballers can’t do the basics. There have been times when I have liked Tsimikas but it just looks like everyone in the whole squad is low on confidence and underperforming.

I think Allison is the only player that can hold his head high. Can you imagine where we would be without Allison playing, keeper, centre back and right back and sometimes midfield . He’s top class. Must be frustrating for him, and being Brazilian, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to want to move to Spain eventually if we are going to spend a few seasons in Europa.

7.) 05 Apr 2023 20:36:29
To be fair to Tsimikas he grew into the game last night. But everyone will remember the first corner he got wrong and not the several good ones that followed.

Robbo then came on and stunk the place out with every action.

Funny what we see.

8.) 05 Apr 2023 21:53:26
From the Opta match stats LFC had 5 corners in the whole match. Tsimikas took three of these, the other two corners were awarded after he "grew into the game" so much he had to be substituted?

This is the LFC Channels Neil Mellor assessment of Tsimikas performance last night and also our rival website T. I. Anf: Tsimikas was frankly dreadful for much of the game, losing the ball, and being caught out defensively on numerous occasions.

Funny what we "DONT" see!

9.) 05 Apr 2023 22:52:52
I think it’s fair to say, they all played badly. We’ll just leave it at that. Wouldn’t have mattered if it had of been a good corner anyway cos our forwards were off on holiday.

10.) 05 Apr 2023 23:10:23
TAA as the starting right back, Bradley as back-up and Ramsey on loan to rebuild confidence / solid game time with Gomez or Van Den Berg (if the are still on the books next season) as the ‘general right side all purpose cover.

11.) 06 Apr 2023 07:56:54
Kostas is in and out of the team we need continuity. Robbo as been getting away with running up and down the field all yr. He has been terrible passing, shooting and his defending in stopping the cross coming in as been pish poor. I think the Mane working back, Gini hardly giving the ball away and the pr Pickford, VVD. Made people think Robbo was world class. This season he looks like a defender could be in a team that's gets relegated. Oh that's what he was.

05 Jul 2020 21:28:36
Eds. I would like your opinion on rhian brewster and what we do with him next season.
Clearly there is not a lot of money to spend but i feel we need a good backup striker. I think he's got a record of a goal in every 2 games for Swansea and from What i saw of todays goal he looks a very instinctive player. So would you leave him on loan or bring him back and have him as a backup rather than origi?

RedDan

{Ed002's Note - It is a case of whether or not he will get enough game time at Liverpool. Otherwise another loan to Swansea would do him a lot of good.}

1.) 05 Jul 2020 21:44:58
Thanks ed. I hope if it is another loan I'd like us to have the chance to bring him in the winter transfer window if he's banging in goals. While i like origi and will his place in fans memories for a while but i don't think he's the answer and would be good to see if brewster is upto the necessay standard.

{Ed002's Note - That is extremely difficult to do and would likely mean that Swansea would need to breach the agreement.}

2.) 05 Jul 2020 22:10:05
Ok. I didn't know that. Thanks for the reply. Just hope he has a good season and is ready to make an inpact when he returns.

3.) 07 Jul 2020 08:11:28
I have seen a few Swansea fans saying he gets very little service and still manages to a score. Seems like has a natural finisher. I guess another loan will Do him good, but I don’t see him replacing firmino yet.

4.) 07 Jul 2020 11:29:42
He’s done really well, he’s scored some cracking goals, I know he’s missed one or two sitters, but he’s a young lad, it happens. The important thing is he picks himself up and doesn’t dwell on it, he’s confident to back himself to try again, the free kick against Millwall was a superb goal, takes real guts to have a go from there at his age. His record works out to roughly one in every two games which I think is good going. Fingers crossed he has what it takes to kick on for us.

5.) 08 Jul 2020 19:01:31
Another goal notched this evening with the game currently at HT. I'd like to see him spend another full season on loan playing week in week out, he's still young and keeping him as back up at this stage of his development could be harmful to his potential growth.

15 Jul 2013 15:05:10
Eds I'm going to mention the word Erickson but bare with me. At the end of last season it seemed the Ajax lad was target for a number of clubs and it was presumed (by a number of people, not necessarily yourselves) he would move fairly quickly. I know its still early in the transfer window but nothing seems to be happening. Do you have any insight as to why no one has (seemingly) approached Ajax yet. Is he not that good? To expensive? Have off field issues?
Would like to here what you think

kind regards

RedDan {Ed002's Note - His penchant for talking about other clubs tends to make folks nervous. It is not dissimilar to Hazard in that someone at Chelsea needed assurances that it would stop before he would OK the purchase.}

Hypothetical question

You are LFCs sporting director which LCB would you put your effort into trying to sign tonight/ tomorrow?

RedDan

{Ed001's Note - Luke Chambers.}

1.) 31 Aug 2023 19:43:23
Ruben Dias ?.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 20:01:26
Inacio.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 20:23:20
Pau Torres.

4.) 31 Aug 2023 20:35:32
Paulinha and promote quansah. May aswel compile one of the best midfields we have ever had.

5.) 31 Aug 2023 20:45:58
Torben Piechnik.

6.) 31 Aug 2023 21:03:23
Daniel Agger at 24 without the injury issues.

7.) 31 Aug 2023 20:57:05
Emanuel insua.

8.) 01 Sep 2023 00:05:11
Inacio. Gravenberch does at least give flexibility on another non hg place.

9.) 01 Sep 2023 00:42:35
Perr Schuurs.

10.) 31 Aug 2023 22:39:26
Luke Chambers Ed1. Interesting choice. I’ve not seen much of him. What do you like about him?

{Ed001's Note - he can play left back and left centre back which is what we have been missing. There isn't really any top class options out there that we could sign, so why waste money when we have someone who can do a job as well as anyone we can buy?}

11.) 01 Sep 2023 00:58:27
What has happened with Chambers Ed? I had thought he would be incorporated in pre season. Looks, like Quansah, to have serious potential. are we loaning him out or giving an opportunity in Europe/ cups?

{Ed001's Note - I had assumed he was injured so I don't know what is happening with him. It seems silly not to have looked at him in preseason. I am sure that a decent loan offer would be taken for him.}

12.) 01 Sep 2023 08:09:45
Heard yesterday he was potentially off to Swansea or Berlin on loan.

But the podcast that said it was a few days old.

13.) 01 Sep 2023 08:27:19
I read Luke Chambers may be off to Swansea or Germany on loan. Klopp allegedly said he is a “great CB in the wrong body”.

31 Aug 2023 19:01:40
Gravenbach signed.

RedDan

1.) 31 Aug 2023 19:15:17
Welcome to Anfield Gravenberch.

At 21 he’s the 4th youngest in the first team squad (who’s played league mins) and only older than Doak, Baj and Elliot.

Looking forward to seeing what Klopp can get out of him.

Seen reports earlier (purely speculation) that him and Mac would be two deep sitting midfielders with Szob as the tip of the diamond.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 19:27:01
He wasn't my choice but I do think he is a Klopp choice so I can get behind it.

What he does have is athleticism and good thechnique. He is pacy too. I think this profile is one that Klopp excels working with so let's see what happens here. I'm hopeful that Klopp can instill a big work rate in him and get him to sacrifice for the team ahead of his own personal performance. I think if he improves his defensive skills and work rate we got a real player here.

I ll trust in Klopp on this one. Welcome to Liverpool Gravenberch.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 19:35:37
Klopp got the player he wanted and that's what im most happy about.

Welcome aboard, Ryan!

4.) 31 Aug 2023 19:39:15
We wanted him last summer so Klopp will be delighted and brings some real height to our midfield at 6’3”.

5.) 31 Aug 2023 19:44:07
Get in! That’s what we want.

6.) 31 Aug 2023 20:37:50
I know a lot of Liverpool fans don’t rate him but I think he will do quite well for us. Looking forward to see him play for us ?.

7.) 31 Aug 2023 21:22:52
When Coutinho arrived not many people gave him a chance. Lightweight and not proven was said. But look what Klopp and LFC did to him when he was with us. I believe that any player that wants to come to us has a really good chance of achieving what was not possible for many other reasons in other clubs. Klopp wanted this specific player for a long time. I think both at the very least have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Hats off to Ed 002 for calling this for many months.
Welcome to LFC Ryan! show us what you are made of!

Now for the final push of LCB. Left-footed is possible.

8.) 31 Aug 2023 21:29:01
I don't know much about him tbh but he certainly brings some much needed physicality to our midfield.
What is it with the Dutch, land of the giants?

9.) 31 Aug 2023 22:36:00
It’s their diary based diet Juicer.

After the war, the Dutch were the shortest nation in Europe. Since they reclaimed a lot of land, started dairy farming and ingest a calcium rich diet during their youth - they’ve become tone of the tallest nations on earth.

10.) 31 Aug 2023 23:01:29
Diary based diet you say? Seeing as I'm 5'6" I might try chewing a few calendars and see if I can hit 6 foot by the end of the year.

11.) 31 Aug 2023 23:25:45
Welcome to Liverpool lad. Got high hopes for this one, midfield for me is pretty much sorted.
LCB tomorrow please! I doubt it though, I think we're done this window, overall very happy with the additions.

31 Aug 2023 16:32:53
Not sure if it's been said yet but good luck to Nat Phillips. I hope this moves can get his career back on track.

RedDan

1.) 31 Aug 2023 16:46:21
Indeed, RD. Deserves to go play and realise his dreams.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 16:49:26
Strange it’s only for first half of the season.

Perhaps it’s Incase we have centre back injuries but a recall clause or Jan transfer window would safeguard that.

No doubts Celtic will be ahead in the league at a canter and instead of leaving Phillips there to win a league he could come back to sit in the stands on match day.

With Virg suspension decision pending it’s only a matter of time with our luck for the club to announce Matip and Gomez have picked up injuries.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 19:06:07
His dream might be picking up £60k a week.

11 Aug 2023 08:39:18
Just a couple of things

1. It's become so frustrating being a Liverpool fan in transfer windows, so many false rumours hopes raised FSG want to make me cry or so angry in frustration but then they do this ??

2. Regarding FSG then yes they have made mistake and can be frustrating but look at what owners we could have ie MUFC. We don't have Man City money but under their ownership we got klopp, stadium is being transformed, new training centre, won CL, PL and more. I remember the dark days of Hicks and Gillett and the question about the club's future so no one can tell me that we haven't had more good times than bad. So let's have some positivity today. It's Friday, it's sunny (near me), footys back and hopefully we sign a very good player today. So it's not all bad is it ?.

RedDan

1.) 11 Aug 2023 08:48:19
Love it RedDan!

2.) 11 Aug 2023 08:58:01
Personally think the most frustrating thing with Liverpool fans is if nothing goes our way we are straight to FSG bashing calling them cheapskates when it’s been far from the truth.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 09:07:09
I think your best bet is to stop listening to rumours. Rumours are rumours. Nothing more, nothing less.

4.) 11 Aug 2023 09:09:02
The agenda now will be that FSG don't get involved in transfers and it was all Klopp and FSG are terrible owners etc. On another note, it's amazing what can be done with a laptop from a villa in Ibiza :D.

5.) 11 Aug 2023 09:16:55
RedDan post of the season (so far :)

{Ed025's Note - far too positive for my liking 1JJ.. :)

6.) 11 Aug 2023 09:24:10
Ed025, smile. It's Super Fan Sunshine Day. ???.

{Ed025's Note - im always smiling ArAy, i resemble a Cheshire cat most of the time mate.. :)

7.) 11 Aug 2023 09:57:36
In all honesty i will never forget what FSG have done for our club, they have helped us survive, they have helped us grow, they have made some really excellent decisions and have made us competitive and delivered on the stadium. I will be forever grateful to them and regardless of what people say or want they have invested in our club and provided their managers with near enough every tool they have ever asked for. They learn from their mistakes and although they are businessmen and live in the US of A i do actually think they get us in the most part and do a very good job for our club.

The self suffcient model is what all clubs should be striving for and those that can't get there risk their future because a bubble can burst at any time and football in general is always running a risk with all this financial input and the want to change things all the time.

I love Liverpool Football Club and will do until the day i die whether we're winning leagues and european cups or fighting relegation fights in the football league but i feel a lot of football fans and people in general only want success and they want it right now at any cost! What kind of chracter and soul does that build?

Step back look at the bigger picture, love your club and support all of it with everything you have!

8.) 11 Aug 2023 10:04:54
Awk Red Dan, like others, I get really frustrated with our transfer dealings - I feel that given our size and success recently we should be able to compete in the market for the likes of Bellingham and Gvardiol

That being said, the club have invested heavily in the new training facilities and Anfield

We only have to look up the road to see how Utd are - they have spent an absolute fortune in the transfer market, something a lot of us wish we could do and yet they hate the Glazers - zero investment into training facilities and zero investment or improvements into Old Trafford either - guess as fans we got to be careful what we wish for.

9.) 11 Aug 2023 10:53:09
1jj - a bit of a back handed compliment there considering the PL season hasn't started yet! Only joking of course.

10.) 11 Aug 2023 11:09:17
The FSG bashing is pure comedy gold for me cos the moment the club dies what their badgers want, they will go quiet up until another situation comes up and FSG will be ripe for bashing again. Stopped being arsed about it a long time ago.

11.) 11 Aug 2023 11:31:02
Just like all the FSG apologists are out in force today Oli like the cat that got the cream? whichever side of the fence u fall on its silly to think there's not valid points to both arguments.

12.) 11 Aug 2023 11:50:49
the anti-FSG "points" aren't points. just feelings that get twisted into facts.

13.) 11 Aug 2023 13:09:50
Jude Nkunku, if you read any of my posts, you will find that I am no FSG inner or outer nor am I on any side of whatever dumb fence you are talking about.

Now since you think anyone who speaks the truth about both the good things and bad things they have actually done, is them being an FSG apologist just shows how far you and your ilk can think regarding these complicated topics are binary or zero sum in nature in your view hence, no middle ground, nuance, perspective nor grey areas exists in your world. Sorry, I choose to analyse the world a different way. Thanks for outing yourself. Peace and Love.

26 Feb 2023 15:50:53
I know we're rubbish at the moment and it's depressing but it could always be worse. I could be a Chelsea fan ?.

RedDan

1.) 26 Feb 2023 15:55:49
Are you implying that spending hundreds of millions on players this season, doesn't get you wins and titles? Be careful with that, it will not go down very well, here. ?.

2.) 26 Feb 2023 16:59:20
A lot of money + World class coach = Guaranteed Titles (Pep Guardiola)

A lot of money + A clueless rookie = 10th place finish (Graham Potter)

Zero Cash + World class coach = A trophy here and there (Jurgen Klopp)

A lot of money + Jurgen Klopp = Quadruple!

3.) 26 Feb 2023 17:16:02
At least Chelsea will just keep piling money in until they get it right.

4.) 26 Feb 2023 17:55:42
All about spending money wisely.

When we won the CL and Premier League every player in the squad except Trent and Jones had been bought by us in a transfer at some point.

The 3 biggest spending teams over the last 18 years Utd, Chelsea and City have 16 league titles between them in that same time.

Utd and Chelsea have since proven that spending without a plan doesn’t always guarantee success but Chelsea still won a major trophy 2 years ago and This season Utd seem to have spent with a plan and they are in a title race and potentially about to pick up a domestic trophy.

I’m sure Klopp knows who he wants and hopefully the funds are there to make all of them happen because I think we need at least 4 starting quality players to come in.

5.) 27 Feb 2023 01:24:45
Spending with a plan could mean waiting a season for Jude Bellingham though?
Or placating the fans by buying a midfielder in the summer that the fans had the benefit of seeing another for six months and a WC competition, as well? A midfielder that wasn't available in the January transfer window?

6.) 27 Feb 2023 13:11:46
ArAy1969, can you keep it down BEFORe the "FSG Outers" arrive with their pitchforks?

7.) 27 Feb 2023 13:12:18
@Casino Royale

"A lot of money + World class coach = Guaranteed Titles (Pep Guardiola) "

Well, we'll see about that when the verdict of the investigations for financial doping comes around.

"Zero Cash + World class coach = A trophy here and there (Jurgen Klopp) "

Yeah, cos a guy who has been backed to the tune of 700m and counting has gotten "Zero" money, yeah? Embarrassing.

If he's going to Chelsea to get an 8yr deal on good money like MC then let Chelsea have him. He must know he's not going to be first choice. However if he still wants a decent wage and will play regularly then surely he'll be advised to join us. I only want the latter kind of player at LFC, not just money motivated ones.

Dhfc. Perhaps klopp and his staff have big plans for Jarell Quansah. We don't see what's going on all the time so perhaps he's ripping it up in training. And after seeing our group for Europa I think it screams out for him, doak, Clark and a few others to play in the early rounds at least.

Alonso1786 like you've I've read good things about Andre Trindade but I think one of the issues is that his club will not sell him while they are still in their version of the Champions league so won't be available until their season finishes in Jan (I think) and if that is the case then Jorge needs to get that deal agreed now so we don't have any more issues then. Would like to think we'd get Doucouré plus another DMF but wouldn't be surprised of we played stefan bajcetic until the new year. Also we agree we definitely need a LCB. Here's hoping it gets done sooner rather than later.
