Afternoon all, what a glum my day -. -
But to brighten things up, LFC have reported slapped a 134mil price tag on Coutinho!
I'll never be happy in any situation of Couts leaving so i'm glad to see that price tag (reportedly) and hope it puts of Barcelona.

1.) 27 Jul 2017 13:48:04
Glummy * damn autofail strikes again.

2.) 27 Jul 2017 13:53:57
We cld get £200m for him it doesn't mean we'll be able to get who we want to replace him. Plus when you sell your best player you become a less attractive proposition to other players, unless you're already winning titles.

3.) 27 Jul 2017 14:48:37
what good is 134 million to us? any half decent player will cost us 100 mil after the club sees that we have cash to spend. There is absolutely no one on his level that there is even a remote chance of us getting so its completely pointless. If we HAVE to sell him then we should be asking for the same price as Neymar. I for one would much rather have phil in our team than Neymar so we should slap a 200mil price on him. Even then Harzard, messi, ronaldo (the only 3 players as good as phil) aren't coming to us.

4.) 27 Jul 2017 15:24:28
We don't want anyone playing for liverpool who doesn't want to play for liverpool. We don't wanna lose Phil but we don't wanna hold him hostage either. There are plenty of players out there who could come in as a playmaker and be brilliant. Let's no over react, it's not the end of the world.

5.) 27 Jul 2017 15:34:24
I honestly agree that coutinho should not be for sale at any price.
If for what ever reason he was to leave the player I'd like to see would be Sanchez
I know he turned us down before and I'm not saying he's going to sign for us just who I think is the only person who could replace him.

6.) 27 Jul 2017 16:00:37
I think putting a ridiculously high price for Coutinho is right to kill off Barca's interest. Some might argue that it will be difficult to replace Coutinho and its true, just like we've struggled to replace Suarez till today. But if a player wants out, it will be difficult to keep him happy by refusing to fulfill his wishes. Also, when Barcelona or Real comes knocking, it'll be pretty hard to turn them down. Personally, I hope he's happy to stay, for another season at least. So that we can have more time to scout for a suitable replacement.

18 Jul 2017 10:21:19
Morning all.

Eds is there anything in the reported interest for the PSG CB Kimpembe?

Must admit i've only ever seen him play once (vs Barcelona in the Champions League) but he looked like quite decent and seemed very good actually on the ball and with his passing which is obviously something we will be looking for with our playing style.

What are the EDs and others thoughts about him?
Like I said not seen him play besides the one game, and I don't rely on YouTube compilations to judge players (like a lot of people) xD

{Ed002's Note - Yes there has been interest but it is really unlikely that anything can happen - and this is old news, predating his new deal. Mahamadou Dembele is another considered}

1.) 18 Jul 2017 10:39:05
Dembele has gone Salzburg I think, probably a good move for his career.

2.) 18 Jul 2017 19:26:49
Thought it might have been old news, noticed we where interested last year in him too so we mustn't be that serious and media just recycling again ad usual xD

An Dembele is at RB Salzburg now. Give him a few years and he'll follow Keita's footsteps in his career probably. Great move for his career if he can live up to his potential.

17 Jul 2017 10:44:28
Morning all. Ed002 has your PA managed to get you any information as to whether we have tabled a bid (or an improved bid) for Keita since your last visit to the pub where she left nothing for you? Have a great day :)

{Ed002's Note - There has not been a second bid yet.}

1.) 17 Jul 2017 15:26:28
You'd need a couple of trucks for all the coppers for a start.

2.) 17 Jul 2017 15:22:54
Maybe you MA might know more than your PA does?

3.) 17 Jul 2017 20:39:30
I read about a rumour that Samsung had to pay Apple $1bn and did so with 30 trucks full of 10cent coins or something. It unfortunately turned out to be fake.

4.) 17 Jul 2017 21:54:48
You'd think that Aplle would've reported Samsung to the Feds for having that many fake dimes.

5.) 17 Jul 2017 22:06:12
True Zeddicus. It would also make a fake news item (Like many rumours on here! )

6.) 17 Jul 2017 22:25:07
Obviously learned from the Vigouroux school of fine paying.

7.) 17 Jul 2017 22:13:19
Thanks for the update ed2, I wonder how long we are going to let it sit before maybe bidding xD

And just Lmfao at the replies 😂😂😂😂
Reminds me of a YT video I watched where a guy tried to pay a repo company in 8,800pennies to get his car back and they got the police involved but they where on the guys side as it’s "legal tender" and had to accept it 😂.

10 Jul 2017 21:41:25
Looks like the press are reusing stories from 3 years ago in saying we are going after Angel Correa again.

Apparently we offered him £50k p/ w but he wants £75k p/ w
And Athletico are willing to sell him for £25mil. (why the quote is £ and not € just makes it even less convincing)

So we have apparently already gave him an offer but haven't put in a bid yet? If this is true then "Here we go again - tap tap tap"

But I can't see it being true, specially since Athletico have a ban and I doubt will let anybody go.

Heard anything about this Eds? Or just usual media recirculation?

{Ed025's Note - absolute tripe phil..

1.) 10 Jul 2017 21:57:22
Thought it might be, cheers for the reply ed025 😊.

2.) 10 Jul 2017 22:01:00

3.) 11 Jul 2017 07:57:17
Lol how many forwards do we play per game and how many do we have on our books? Surely, with the arrival of Solanke, we won't be looking at bringing in another one?

4.) 11 Jul 2017 09:24:17
Could be someone to look into if Sturridge gets sold.
He would fit the team quiet well imo. Quick, good technique and still young.

It is very unlikely to happen but as a alternative to Captain injury a good choice.

5.) 11 Jul 2017 11:10:33
I used to really rate him as a youth academy product and thought he would go on to push for a starting place this season with Gameiro and Torres inconsistent to say the least but his progression has stagnated quite significantly in my opinion and think he'd be a poor signing at this point in time.

Afternoon all.
ED002 I recall you saying we "need to think seriously about whether or not the club just buy for the sake of it (to appease the fans) or has a structured approach to regeneration - where they buy the players they need"
And I have been thinking about it, the way we have not backed down from gvs considering how quickly we usually move on and end up buying our "2nd option" I. e Mane and Salah.

My question is, do you think we might actually know who we want? The options we move on from quite quickly, could be mere smokescreens to hide who we are really after to stop other teams competing with us to sign then whilst we actively try to sign them?
Because both Salah (so far) and Mane are absolutely outstanding in a red shirt and have improved us so much - for "second/ backup options" they are far too good IMO to even be considered as just a backup option.

In regards to Keita we have no smokescreen so are not backing down because he is the number 1 target and is not a smokescreen for an unexpected quality player (which we should move on and look for or wait till next season)

{Ed002's Note - I think that there is littel doubt about who the club wants - but there will be a thought about alternatives. There are no smokescreens Phil.}

1.) 25 Jul 2017 18:56:27
Ah right ok, wasn’t sure as the players we seem to buy as plan B seem to be better IMO lol
Appreciate the reply ed2 cheers.

20 Jul 2017 12:20:10
Afternoon all.
Can somebody tell me exactly why everybody keeps saying if we don't get Keita, he will go to Bayern Munich when his release clause activates next year?
Does not make any sense to me at all. If he wants to come to us why will he go to Bayern when we can go and match the clause ourself? 😩.

1.) 20 Jul 2017 12:45:11
Because that clause doesn't apply to us!

2.) 20 Jul 2017 12:46:04
His release clause next year only allows German clubs to activate it.

3.) 20 Jul 2017 13:27:24
He'll end up there.
German clubs love supplying Bayern with players.
There's no point in even having that league it's boring to watch Munich win it year in year out.

4.) 20 Jul 2017 13:55:16
Because next year we might not be in champions league. We will probably already have bought are plan b or c.

Bayern, Madrid, psg, arsenal, Chelsea all want him but don't see the value at this price. Next year it will be a much more reasonable price and he could have an even better year than this year and drive even more interest in him. United's and city's. All of those teams can pay more in wages and fees. We really don't want to go up against them.

I hope I have helped you understand the importance of getting this transfer done this window.

5.) 20 Jul 2017 13:58:07
1. Bayern might replace Vidal with Keita.

2. Bayern is a mighty big club and most players would want to play for them.

3.There is absolutely no guarantee we will finish inside top 4 next season!

6.) 20 Jul 2017 18:34:34
I know the clause doesn't apply to us, but if they accept it from 1 team and another team (who the player wants) bids the same, or slightly more, surely it’s unlikely they can reject our bid?
Well maybe now after we have tapped him up they might tell us where to go again 😣

And I think we will be top 4 next season, people seem to really underestimate the squad we have now and without injuries we would have finished 2nd/ 3rd

Yes spidermane thanks lol because we are trying to spend so much i’d assume we might actually be able to offer him a competitive wage in regards to most of the other teams if we reaallllyyyyy want him.

I kinda always take the "'playername' is interested in a move to LFC" as a they might actually want to play for us instead of letting money talk. I know it’s a rarity now a days but i’m still hopeful some are like that haha.

{Ed002's Note - They can decide whether to accept any bid or not.}

15 Jul 2017 21:48:56
Good evening Eds and everybody. A lot of people might not agree with me on this, but IMO because of the amount of games we will be playing this season (assuming we get past the playoffs xD) I think we will be in need of 2 quality CBs.

Obviously we still believe we can get VVD as Macca stated, but I still think we will need 1 more, specially as Sahko will be leaving (and if he stays, won't be playing)

I used the search but didn't find much about Jose Gimenez except a post a couple weeks ago.

Eds have we not actually shown any interest in him?
He fell down the pecking order at Athletico so they won't need a "direct replacement" and only has 12 months left on his contract and a reported release clause of £39-40mil
He also fits the bill of being a young player (22)

I actually hope we go for him even if it isn't until January (we will need that extra for the final half of the season)

There hasn't even been any rumours about him for a few weeks either but I do hope behind closed doors we might be showing some interest.
Somebody should out a word in just in case we have looked past him xD.

{Ed002's Note - The release clause is of no relevance and right now Atletico has told an interested side that he will not be sold this summer.}

1.) 15 Jul 2017 22:23:24
I don't agree with this by the way but Ed didn't Roma say Salah wasn't for sale? Everton with Lukaku? Everyone is for sale if all the ducks line up in a row.

{Ed002's Note - They have a transfer ban right now and cannot sign replacements.}

2.) 15 Jul 2017 22:25:21
I don't doubt you Ed002, but everything can change after a romantic donkey ride on Blackpool beach with Jurgen.

After that, the player will force the move through and Atletico can file the 39th complaint of the summer against LFC.

3.) 15 Jul 2017 22:06:25
He's very very rash and has poor positional sense, lacks the nous of someone like Godin. You'd have to question why Simeone has him down the pecking order, given that he knows a defender when he sees them.

4.) 16 Jul 2017 00:44:53
Matip, lovren, vvd (if he comes in), Gomez, Klavan. Emre can play there in an emergency. If we sign vvd we have enough centre backs.

We don't need someone to replace sakho if he leaves, he essentially wasn't at the club last season. Why not players to replace those that were never going to play anyway.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 02:38:26
One new CB is more than enough imo. Matip and VVD (most likely) will be first choice while LOvren and Klavan will be the backups. Gomez might be going out on loan as he needs game time rather than being stuck on the bench. Sakho was replaced by Klavan last season so why would we sign a CB to replace a player not even in last season's squad?

6.) 16 Jul 2017 09:13:00
I agree with Tappy and MK - every team always says they won’t sell, how many times has RB come out and said that about keita? Yet Macca and sparky are convinced we will get them.

Hansen, Indeed and IndianB - IMO he is still an improvement over Lovren and obviously Klavan

And it worries me with the amount of games we will be playing, we will be using both backups a lot more (and Gomez) and i’d rather not have Klavan playing xD

Godin would be much better obviously but being realistic we will never get him and he is 1 player they definitely WILL NOT sell at all.
But a 3rd choice could still be for sale at the right price.

Eds, I in no way at all mentioned anything to do with our illegal approach. All I said was vvd had already hinted on he was unhappy at Southampton before Klopp even thought about walking on the pier with him.

NOTHING at all to do with how we made our approach, we still did something dumb af and should never have done it.

(Sent before I finished -. -)

I think even if we showed absolutely no interest in vvd and never illegally approached him or even thought about him, let’s take us out of the equation all together - He would still want out and if any other club approached he would probably do the same in Southampton never let him leave.

With how quickly we usually move on to Alternative targets if;
A) we get priced out or
B) another team comes in and offers sh! t loads more.
There must be surely some cause for us continuing on with our pursuit?
We don’t usually fight for players we want, let alone a top class player so i’m feeling very optimistic about it (and even VvD but not so much)

Ed2 I think slowdog is right. I read the same thing too that VVD was unhappy and wanted to leave after the Southampton board vs Fonte transfer debacle when he left last window.
can’t for the life of me find the article I read it on though ;_;

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the issue. It is quite frankly pitiful that you are now trying to blame Southampton for the illegal approach made by Klopp and Liverpool - absolutely pathetic.}

"A similar issue is being discussed about capping TV and media income for FFP. "

This. This is something that seriously needs to be addressed. English clubs are massively influencing the market and inflation because of the amount of money they get from domestic and oversees TV and media income.

{Ed002's Note - It won't change the income, only the amount that can be taken in to account for FFP, but you are right it is distorted.}

Click To View This Thread

24 Jul 2017 14:23:47
Doesn't literally any income (except put in by the owners themself) "balance" it out regarding ffp?
So sponsors, TV licence, ad revenue, marketing, competition (cups/ leagues) rewards, Match Day Tickets and every other form on club related income - Not just selling players? And it’s based over 3 years anyway isn’t it?
So spend big for 2 years then let the books balance out xD.

{Ed002's Note - It is a rolling three years and you need to remember players are not always paid for in one go.}

Oops didn’t see someone posted it before me, eds don’t worry about posting mine i’ll just write what I said in here

It can be either one of these.
A) He is genuinely p! ssed off with not being allowed to leave and genuinely really wants to come to us
B) He fell out with the player he took out
C) he slipped and did damage by accident and the press are having a field day adding fuel to a dying fire.
Unless somebody caught it on camera, we will never know lol.

If it was FIFA, the board would get sick of the moaning and sell the player behind the managers back for half his value. let’s hope that happens *rolls eyes*.
