Hi eds I remember you saying Victor Osimhen was of interest. Media suggesting there has been a bid for him from an unnamed side. Wondered if it was Liverpool.

Redwillis1.0

{Ed002's Note - Victor Osimhen (S/F) One particular Liverpool scout is really pressing for the club to sign him. Barcelona have also shown an interest, but they have a financial issue to solve first - he only joined in the summer and Lille resisted all January approaches - and it is hard to see why the player would consider a career on the bench at any club. Spurs and Manchester United have looked at him and spoken with his agent. A senior Chelsea scout has also been watching the player who could be seen as an option to their primary striker targets. The interest of these sides prompted Real Madrid to attend two Lille games and they will likely have him on a list somewhere as an option. There was serious interest from Arsenal when he was much younger, but he opted for Wolfsburg. Another one not to lose sight of as he is doing well this season and could be available in the summer. I know nothing of any bid but Lille will want a premium price.}

That was a brutal one to take but I think we were superb last night. We played with great intensity and quality. The only thing we didn't get right was getting the second goal in 90 minutes but we came as close as you can hitting the bar and forcing oblak to make save after save. They're the most defensive team i've ever seen and yet we created many chances. We mixed it up with early crosses, crosses from the by line and long shots. We played with confidence and great intensity for 100 minutes and then under no pressure whatsoever Adrian kicks it straight to them and they score knocking the stuffing out of every one. We did not get beaten by a tactical genius as they're all saying and this was not a bad display. I'm proud of the boys. You can't get to the final every year I guess but we'll be back.

I wouldn’t pay to watch that negative rubbish that Atletico serve up under Simeone, what a bitter blow that positivity should fall to negativity.
And you’re right, the lads were superb last night.
We mustn’t complain at all, we’re privileged to watch our football under Jurgen.
Adrian - pick yourself up mate and take care of business, it happens to everyone.
Cmon Reds!

2.) 12 Mar 2020 09:42:53
But they scored three goals against Liverpool.

3.) 12 Mar 2020 10:05:48
For the chance's liverpool created there shouldn't have been extra time. Liverpool need a goalscorer. The amount of times crosses are whipped into the box and nobody is on the end of them is criminal. I love bobby but he's more time orchestrating play than finishing it off. Drop him to 10 and get that goalscorer. Also mane and salah need real competition. They no there is no risk of loosing there place after a poor game because the quality just is not there to replace them. That is not a dig at any of them by the way its just stating what everyone is thinking. Werner and aouar would give us so many different options and the competition for places we desperately need.

4.) 12 Mar 2020 10:26:20
I got to be honest i was devastated with the loss last night. More to do with the fact that for me it was our best performance of 2020 and one of the best performances of the season for me. The only thing that let us down was finishing, other than that our intensity and zip was world class. We came undone by poor goalkeeping from Adrian, he made the mistake for the 1st and personally i think his positioning was out for the 2nd and 3rd. However i cannot hold a grudge against him. He is here as a reserve keeper and that's what he is. We are on the brink of winning the league and he has played his part in that. To be honest i'd be surprised if any other reserve keeper has played such a big part in a title win in the past that he has. I really hope we take last nights intensity and performances into our remaining league games so we finish this season on a winning run playing well.

5.) 12 Mar 2020 10:28:55
Oblak was inspired yesterday. can't fault the boys or even adrian tbh. can't ALWAYS have it our way. I think Gini was awesome for most of the match and I'm sure a new face or two will come in during the summer.

6.) 12 Mar 2020 10:37:21
Just imagine the service a proper predator up front would be getting trent and robbo would have a field day, it's not a knock on bobby he is a legend and after all he ain't a out an out striker, moving him slightly deeper would add another option give us an extra dimension. For me origi could be forgiven for moving on he is meant too be are alternative but when chosen is starting out wide or not effecting games as much as desired .

7.) 12 Mar 2020 10:48:41
I agree with many of the comments above. We need some one who is ruthless in front of goal. Some one that can be called upon if our usual front 3 are not doing the job or are misfiring. Ogigi, as much as i like his attitude, and although he has cropped up with some important goals, does not have the ability IMO, to turn the tide of a match or inspire the team to victory. That includes some of our other team players too. The amount of chances of missed wayward shots last night was crazy. Credit to Athletico, they're a solid team to play against.

8.) 12 Mar 2020 12:11:53
And their off. The game barely just ended yet here we are with the same old "We need a predator in the box", "A real goalscorer" and all that. As if all that would have stopped Adrian from ripping his pants on the first goal and being a virtual bystander for the second. This is not the time for such tired, lame arguments that have been had daily for a week now. It is a distraction, IMO.

Bottom line is that we created enuff chances to win two games and tho our finishing was a bit off (which is due to what AM was doing to our front three defensively), we still score 2 goals goals and prolly would have scored a 3rd cos AM would have opened up and got desperate and we would have dropped and packed the midfield and then counter them. AM got lucky cos AB1 was out and Oblak was in goal for them. That's about it even tho, we can always do better.

9.) 12 Mar 2020 12:45:39
Red meister i respect your opinion mate but its not just about last nights game its been happening all season. We have won over half our games by a one goal margin. We need something different to change it up. The font 3 have played practically every game thus far. What's so wrong about having options. Its clear as day we need to be able to switch things around every now and again and keep the opposition thinking. Its not jumping on any bodies back because of last night. We are not converting enough of the chances we are creating. We have to start putting teams away when we are so dominant.

10.) 12 Mar 2020 16:52:58
REDMICK, I fully agree that we have not taken as many chances as we would have liked this season for sure BUT we had a 2 goal lead and we pummeled Athleti into submission. Also, I never said that we should not have options which in fact we do have options as Ox can play on the wing. Origi is also an option now whether you think he is a good one or not is another issue.

I just think that we should take a chill pill and not start "bodying" our front three cos like it or not, you will not always take your chances. We had played well enuff to win and had the error not come and we win, this whole schtick does not come up right now so let's not start with that stuff now. Just my take. Up Da Pool!

Did anyone else see Karius error tonight 🙈
It's absolutely awful decision making. I feel sorry for him it must feel awful to make these sorts of clangers in the spotlight but I'm so so so glad he's not in our team any more and we have alisson and super Adrian instead now.

First, he doesn't need to do it and secondly when he does do it, he misreads the flight of the ball and trips up his own defender.

Karius makes the most baffling errors. There is a goalie in there, imo, he just seems to be unable to concentrate properly.

Wouldn't be entirely surprised if he got his head together better later in his career and came good in his 30s (a bit like David James who peaked when he was about 36), but we can't wait that long.

2.) 20 Sep 2019 09:44:17
But I wish people would leave him alone now; media and LFC fans. He got more than his share of brickbats and that should be enough. So he's not world-class. We got that. He probably does too. What's all the commotion for if he screws up once or twice a year?

3.) 20 Sep 2019 23:56:57
None of the above posts were ridiculing him much, just realistic observations that he's making errors too regularly to have been good enough for us, . No personal mockery or offence aimed at him really, he's still a liverpool player so of course we will still keep an eye on his form, good or bad.

I have to continue to work in a school with over 600 people and my missus has to work in a hospital with many more so I'm sure super fit 20 year olds, with private transport to and from the stadium and the best health care in the world can play football behind closed doors after their two week isolation. It's what they're paid very well to do.

Fabinho always seems to take a while to get his touch when he comes back from injury or break. Lallana just charging about everywhere like a headless chicken leaving massive gaps behind him. Early days for Minamino I'd say he's trying to fill in for Bobby playing that role that no one else can play like Bobby. Will take a while to learn. Origi is struggling when you'd hope he'd be fit and raring to go. struggling without Hendo calming things down and motivating the lads. Hope this turns around coz going out to athletico now would be pretty sad.

I'd like to go for it with a strong team. I think the cusion in the league is enough to risk it. (He says touching wood) don't want to lose to the bitters and I'd love us to win the double or (kisses my lucky egg) the treble (five if you count the others) to shut manure fans up forever.

It's useless but I wonder how good Joe would be now if he hadn't had all those long term injuries? I think the clean sheets we are getting now Joe is in the team may be a coincidence but for me I think he should play when fit. Him and Virgil could form a great partnership for years to come. Hoever impresses me and I hope he will be ready to be in the mix in a few seasons when big virg is getting on.

If you look at the age and current ability of the defence I can only see further improvement. If Gomez can grow into the centre back we all thought he would be before he broke his leg alongside big Virg who will be at the top of his game for a good few years to come. Ali is v young for a top keeper who knows how much better Robbo can get, his rise has been unbelievable. Trent will go on to be one of the best footballers in the world imo, but as we know that might be in midfield. Fabinho is a beast and still has years. Ox and k
Keita too if they stay injury free. Hendo due to heel and Milly aren't going to improve, who knows what Gini is capable of the guy has constantly surprised me and become rock solid reliable top level cm. Salah, Firmino, Mane probably won't get much better due to their age all probabaly speaking at the same time. Mane seems to be top of his game for the last year. and well how can the front 3 get better? Other than scoring a higher percentage of their shots more consistently? If we can keep this current squad together and somehow bring in promising youngsters to replace the milners, Hendo, Lallana. And to gradually mix in with the front 3 over the next few years we could really build a longstanding run of trophy winning seasons. It's a wonderful time to be a red.
