Morning eds, do Liverpool hold an interest in Allan of Udinese? Sorry to throw a name at you, I just think he would do well in the prem, thanks

Rookie

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from the EPL and he might end up here - but it is not from Liverpool.}

1.) 09 May 2015 09:17:34
Thanks very much ed

Just a bit of fun, but is there any player you guys liked but didn't want to admit? Maybe someone who played for a rival or something like that. I likes Beckham a lot as a kid purely for his free kick technique and crossing ability.
Cheers.

I was always a big fan of Tim Cahill but would never of admitted it to any of my Evertonian friends or family as the git had a habit of bagging important goals against us. Great player though.

2.) 19 Jan 2020 09:01:47
Ronaldo while at man u.

3.) 19 Jan 2020 09:09:16
I openly declare my liking of players from rival clubs and not afraid to admit it in public. Therefore OP, do you want a list?

4.) 19 Jan 2020 09:20:48
Ruud Van Nistlerooy. Loved him as a player.

5.) 19 Jan 2020 09:43:47
I know what you mean Rookie, David Silva of Man City is a player I wish had played for Liverpool. But I could never admit Ronaldo was any good, because he played for Utd, always remember calling him a 'show pony' with all his step-overs and no end product, but he turned out to be quite good.

6.) 19 Jan 2020 09:54:39
Schmeichel with man utd in his prime best keeper in the world how they could do with him nowadays.

7.) 19 Jan 2020 10:33:41
Gary Neville 😉.

8.) 19 Jan 2020 10:38:04
Schmeichel. I loved him as a kid being a goalkeeper and considering we had James and trigger in goal I had to try to base myself of someone decent. Best goalkeeper of all time IMO although me dad would say clemo.

9.) 19 Jan 2020 10:51:38
Suarez for Barca. Swapping him for Baloteli and Lambert didn’t help.

10.) 19 Jan 2020 11:08:24
Giggs

I don’t care who you support, every fan would have wanted a young to old Giggs in their team. Skill, success and loyalty can’t be bought.

11.) 19 Jan 2020 11:44:38
David Silva, why? because in my opinion he's one of the best players the premier league has ever seen.

12.) 19 Jan 2020 12:01:30
I know this is supposed to be rival clubs but The best player I have seen grace the field was Suarez when he was with us. Torres in his first couple of seasons was also fantastic.

But from rival clubs
Ronaldo at UTD

Rooney when he was at Everton. I think he could have been so much better if he would have stayed at Everton for a couple more seasons
Moving to UTD went to head too much for me

Zidane at Madrid superb

Ronaldinho - when he could be bothered he was unplayable, monstrous player

And I know i will get roasted for this but i always liked Beckham. Technically he wasnt brilliant but there is no player who could put the ball on a 5p piece like him.

13.) 19 Jan 2020 12:14:42
His brother may disagree about the loyalty part BeckersGloves.

14.) 19 Jan 2020 13:14:42
Eric Cantona. I always wanted Man Utd to lose with Cantona getting at least one consolation goal.

15.) 19 Jan 2020 14:03:21
Bergkamp.

16.) 19 Jan 2020 14:09:52
Love watching Aguero.
Not too many outside our team right now in the prem though that comes to mind though.
Plenty of arsenal and united players over the years though, Henry and bergkamp obvious ones, Ronaldo and Beckham for United. Drogba at Chelsea etc.

17.) 19 Jan 2020 14:54:31
Roy Keane and Eric Cantona.

18.) 19 Jan 2020 18:49:28
Roy Keane? Behave .

19.) 19 Jan 2020 19:19:57
Viera. Ginola. Shearer.

20.) 19 Jan 2020 20:28:07
Giggs is a truly hateful person. Slept with his brothers wife, made captain of uk Olympic football team yet wouldn't sing the national anthem because he was Welsh.
Why would you idolise him?

{Ed025's Note - your spot on lord ha ha..

21.) 19 Jan 2020 21:35:56
Teddy Sheringham.

22.) 20 Jan 2020 11:38:59
Loads, nothing to hide imo

Anelka
Drogba
Pires
Henry
Cafu
Yeah heaps others lol.

Just a suggestion for a potential article. We have had a few players in the academy over the years who looked like they might make it with us but sadly didn't.

Players like Ryan Mcloughlin spring to my mind, and I remember Ed001 being quite high on Jerome Sinclair.

Could do a sort of a where are they now update, what made them talented, why they didn't make it and what sort of future do you see for them.

Anyway just a suggestion, as always keep up the great work Eds.

Cheers.

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - I have added that to the to do list.}

1.) 17 Jan 2019 19:19:09
Remember ed001 you still have to sleep all these things being put on the to do list you won't have time to S**T never mind anything else lol.

{Ed001's Note - I gave up on sleep years ago mate.}

2.) 17 Jan 2019 19:40:09
I remember Mcloughlin, OP> I daw him play in the U. S during BR's first preseason and he had a belter. He was phenomenal. And then, nothing. I know he went to Barnsley a few years ago. Does anyone know what he is doing now? If he is still playing football?

3.) 17 Jan 2019 19:53:58
This site is a big part of my life everyday. spend at least an hour a day checking it
Love it
I love reading those “where are they now” stories on other sites
Think it would be a good read if ed001 does one
Go on ed bring it to the fromt of that never ending lists!

Thanks to ed001,2,25,333 for their time 😘.

{Ed001's Note - I will try and push it up a bit for you mate.}

4.) 17 Jan 2019 20:08:46
Your too good to us 👍
Would love a beer with u some time tris
Unfortunately dubai isn't somewhere i fancy for a hol
😫.

{Ed001's Note - that's a shame mate you would love it out here. Great place for winter sun.}

5.) 17 Jan 2019 20:12:38
Whats the snorkelling like?

{Ed001's Note - I have never done that but it should be good as they do have a lot of diving going on during the winter. No good during the summer though as the sea is too hot really then.}

6.) 18 Jan 2019 00:51:33
Ryan use to live 5 mins from me in belfast. Still see him the odd time in the same barbers in Andersonstown. He's been pranked so much every time he's home its not even funny anymore. Still a great guy and loves a joke.

{Ed0333's Note - pranked in what way?

7.) 17 Jan 2019 20:49:21
Nice one mate
Thx for the info
If u get to europe or the uk anytime and arrange a pint in a pub for some posters, id jump at it as im all over europe most weeks 👍👍.

{Ed001's Note - I will let you know next time I am back in the country.}

8.) 17 Jan 2019 21:06:10
Tell my to bugger off and stop being nosy eds1 if you want but why did you move to Dubai?

{Ed001's Note - quick version is I picked up a liver infection while already ill and it left me a bit of a mess, I kept constantly getting sick afterwards and the doctor told me I needed more sun and sea air would be good too. So I ended up here with year round sun and no longer spend my entire life sick.}

9.) 18 Jan 2019 03:08:32
Cheers Ed001 mate. I probably don't interact enough on here, but just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the site.

Seriously, it's part of a daily routine for me and many others I'm sure.

It's often said that football is an escape for some people, and I definitely get lost in it.

This site offers a similar escape, so again, just wanted to say thanks to you, the other eds and all the contributers here.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate. I am really glad it can be that as it was for me when we started it.}

Just a suggestion for an article for ed001 or maybe even MK. Perhaps an article or two about a player who was good but should have been great and didn't reach their full potential. Sort of like fallen stars of the game. Doesn't have to be Liverpool related. Adriano springs to mind as an example for instance. Anyway, just a a suggestion and keep up the great work all of you.

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - that's a great idea mate, cheers will defo try and do something, hopefully MKS will do something as well and we can see how our choices differ or, when they are the same, how differently we viewed the player's career.}

1.) 22 Dec 2017 06:44:29
Yeah, I'm up for that! Sounds decent!

{Ed001's Note - nice one mate.}

2.) 22 Dec 2017 16:02:58
Any ideas yet MK?

3.) 22 Dec 2017 12:45:31
That'll make a great read. Look forward to that MK and Ed1.

Alright, just a little question for ed001. Something that bugs me watching footie today is the number of foul throws that are not pulled up by the refs. Even when I was a kid playing footie the refs would always have the player retake a foul throw but it seems refs don't enforce the rule at the highest level anymore. Do you think that refs are just letting it go to keep the flow of the game now or are they simply inept?

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - I think your first answer is correct, they just don't want to keep pulling up a game. Though I could be wrong and they might simply be as inept as they always seem and aren't noticing. I find that difficult to believe as it happens on every throw in, just about. The fact they aren't pulling them up on it would suggest the assessor is not pointing it out, so there must be a decision to just let it go.}

1.) 14 Nov 2017 17:21:02
Ultimately the whole point of a throw in is just the get the game restarted as quickly as possible, so long as a throw is isn’t blatantly a foul throw it would be petty to keep bringing them back for every little infringement.

2.) 14 Nov 2017 20:00:31
Appreciate the response ed001. I just find it odd that some rules are enforced and others are not. I agree that it probably is to keep the flow of the game but then refs seem to let goalkeepers hold onto the ball for much longer than the 6 seconds, so that pretty much kills the flow of the game. It seems like refs begin to take action when a big deal is made of something in the media.

{Ed001's Note - I find it odd too and find it really frustrating to see something so easily fixed allowed to pass out of what seems like laziness.}

Best of luck to Lucas, hope his move goes well. People can question his ability, but let's not forget he suffered some terrible injurys yet always worked hard to come back. He seemed like a good bloke who had fully embraced the city and club.

Rookie

1.) 16 Jul 2017 22:17:11
He is one hell of a pro and one that I have a lot of time for. Good luck Lucas and thank you!

2.) 16 Jul 2017 22:42:05
He deserves huge credit for what he came through at the start of his Liverpool career he really is a top professional and a great role model for any player to aspire to off the pitch. On the pitch he was never good enough for a team with aspirations to challenge for the title. That again speaks volumes for his attitude and personality because he ended up staying here for 10 years! Good luck Lucas if anyone deserves it you do.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 23:08:20
I just saw the pictures of him at the airport with the scarf around his neck I for one am really sorry to see him go. Not only did he come through some bad injuries but he took some abuse from his own fan's and never let it show nor did he ever bad mouth the club in public. What a great servant to the club and a fantastic roll model.
Beast of luck Lucas!

4.) 16 Jul 2017 23:40:01
Just saw the pics myself. Totally gutted he's gone. Blue and white doesn't suit him lol. Seriously though, Fair play to the guy. He will always be a red at heart. He will be missed.

I have watched quite a bit of Dahoud, not seen much of Zielinksi if I'm honest. I would echo much of what Mk Scouser said, but I would add that Dahoud is an absolute engine in the midfield. He can go all day much like hendo and Milner in that respect. Calm in possession and has a good shot on him too.

By no means perfect though. He can be rash and at times goes off to the sides too often leading the middle exposed. Not much of a tackler, more of a harrier in midfield like hendo. I can't judge Zielinksi really, I have only seen clips of him. There not very similar players from the looks of it so perhaps it not one or the other.

Haha, that was my question Ed001 :) I remember suggesting a where are they now article too for our old academy players. Like Ryan Mclaughlin for example. What made him highly rated, why didn't he work out with us, what sort of career did he have after us and what sort of future is expected of him.

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - that is next on the to do list after this one!}

You just reminded me Ed001, although he didn't fake an injury to get someone sent off, he did con the ref into not sending him off. Imagine this tackle today haha. God he was scary.
