Hey Ed’s, I hope you’re all doing great. Quick question as I haven’t seen it mentioned recently, is there any update on Timo Werner and Liverpool? I believe the last time there was an update he was looking at a German club over a move to the PL.
Cheers lads!

Run of the Milner

{Ed002's Note - The situation remains the same in that RBL and Bayern Munich are still negotiating the price - and I understand remain some distance apart and PSG have their declared interest but have been told to await the outcome of the discussions - but they see Timo Werner as a potential Cavani replacement. In the interim, RBL's new coach has stated that he hopes Werner will sign a new contract and taht he very much wants to work with him next season.

As for Liverpool, it has been reported by the Fat Kid from Bolton that a deal for Werner was agreed with RBL in January – it wasn’t. Someone else (whose name escapes me) has apparently said again recently that the deal with RBL is agreed and it is just the salary deal to be figured out – this is all news to Leipzig who have of course been speaking to Bayern Munich trying to agree a price whiclst trying to get a new contract agreed with the player. There has certainly been interest from Klopp but right now there is no deal in place at all. It is had to see how Werner would fit in unless there is a change of style in the way Liverpool play.}

1.) 30 Apr 2019 13:26:42
who is the fat kid from bolton?
i've seen the reference a few times and i'm clueless :/.

2.) 30 Apr 2019 14:04:23
Ed 002, as always, the pleasure is ours thank you!

3.) 30 Apr 2019 14:27:56
Fat Kid from Bolton = The Firm BL on Twitter. Claims to be ITK about transfers but is a complete spoofer. When his claims about signings prove untrue, he blames everything from the neighbours cat to the LFC board for it not happening. He’s a nuisance. If you’re looking for news on potential transfers/ interest the club may have in players in and out, Ed002 is boss.

4.) 30 Apr 2019 15:00:02
Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining.
So kinda like Firmino's Teeth on here ;)

5.) 30 Apr 2019 20:12:56
My opinion, which is not informed, is that we’re testinf the water for players should Salah or Mane decide to leave in the summer.
Otherwise I can’t see such a player joining LFC to be a bit part fringe player.

6.) 30 Apr 2019 21:05:52
Sometimes it feels like we could be linked to Messi himself and people would still say"cant see him wanting to join to be a bit part player. "

7.) 30 Apr 2019 21:54:51
Well it’s true Naby, Messi would struggle for game time 😎.

8.) 30 Apr 2019 22:16:24
Messi, Suarez, Coutinho and Dembele. Four players of equal quality (ok Messi a different level) competing for three spots. And even Dombele has 40 games this season.

9.) 01 May 2019 09:28:35
Thanks for the huge response Ed, really concise explanation - thank you.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

10.) 01 May 2019 11:26:05
Then Naby you have to ask yourself the question why players join a football club.
I would argue there are 3 main reasons:
1) Money - no problem for LFC
2) Profile - no problem for LFC so long as you’re playing. You may have noticed that Klopp doesn’t really play the squad game, fringe players rarely start a game.
3) Success - this is where currently LFC do not compete. We’ve won one league cup since 2007. So your players are unlikely to stick around at a club that’s won one league cup in 11 years. Most players don’t play at the top for 11 years.

So we need to become a club that wins things to even have a chance of keeping top class players around without regular first team football.

11.) 01 May 2019 12:17:33
On the verge of consecutive champions league finals and finishing with AT LEAST the 3rd highest points tally in English top flight history. If a player can't see were going to be in the run for every available trophy over the next few years there's something wrong with them.

12.) 01 May 2019 12:30:57
little Naby it’s about time in my opinion. We need to prove our metal consistently not a few seasons.

13.) 01 May 2019 12:46:56
It is had to see how Werner would fit in unless there is a change of style in the way Liverpool play

So, ed002, who you think would suit us?

{Ed002's Note - As I have kept saying, Rhian Brewster.}

14.) 01 May 2019 14:00:09
I'd be happy with Salah, Manè, Bobby, Brewster and a wide player closer in terms of skill to Salah/ Mane than Shaquiri and origi.

15.) 01 May 2019 14:28:59
Brewster looks like he has great potential. I hope Klopp can manage him well; my biggest concern is that he becomes a Rashford, who in my opinion has incredible ability, but under performs due to the pressures united have placed on him. I’d like to think that Klopp eases him into the team rather than try to make him a star too early.

16.) 01 May 2019 17:26:56
Rashford has done a lot to prop up a pretty dysfunctional United squad and has also battled through a tight hamstring for part of this year. We'd be very lucky to get that type of player in Brewster.

Klopp seems keen on giving him regular first team minutes soon. Is he ready for that? Might be the ideal cover for the front 3, being able to bring along his development at the next level without pressure on him to carry a large portion of the scoring responsibility.

17.) 01 May 2019 18:03:44
Yeah you’re right, he’s carrying united which must be a huge pressure at his age. I think we have the most unified team in the EPL so I would hope less pressure would be on Brewster as/ when he plays.

18.) 01 May 2019 19:52:26
Sorry Naby, you must have misread. Players don’t sign to be rotation players, that’s why no one has more than 11 players.

07 Mar 2019 07:09:59
Good morning Ed’s, do you have any insight into the Timo Werner rumours? Think he’d be an awesome addition to the squad 🤞.

Run of the Milner

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any rumours. He wants to move to BM and has sorted out personal terms through his agent. But BM have not agreed any prices with BD at this time - and that will stretch on to the summer.}

1.) 07 Mar 2019 09:48:57
Thanks Ed002, appreciate your time as always.

2.) 07 Mar 2019 11:29:09
Ed002 can i ask you who are we targeting besides Werner, Brandt, Insigne, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, Laxalt and Fryer? And Who do you think we should sign to rotate with the forwards? Sturrdige is leaving, Origi is leaving, Lallana is leaving and the only youngster ready seems to be Wilson.
Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - I think you have missed something in what I have said. Firstly you can scratch Felix from the list. Insigne would only be an iption if Mane of Salah left. I am pretty sure that the club will walk away from Laxalt as well. Brewster should be able to step in and cover for both Sturridge and Origi if they are leaving.}

3.) 07 Mar 2019 12:25:33
Thanks Ed002! Then cover for the front 3 will be Wilson, Brewster, Shaqiri, Ox and maybe Woodburn. I like it lacks experience but they will be hungry!
Can i ask you if we are not going for Laxalt who are we looking for and who do you think we should get?

{Ed002's Note - You are making it sound like everything is finalised. I have shared everything I know at this time.}

4.) 07 Mar 2019 12:44:34
ed002 have you much of Brewster if so how good is he where would you put him nest to the likes of Owen and Fowler at the same age. I do think the level of defenders now to when Owen and Fowler was coming through is nowhere near the same level what should help him though.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot compare players like that but the club thin he is great and Klopp has given him commitments about playing time.}

5.) 07 Mar 2019 12:57:44
Ok! Thanks Ed002!

6.) 07 Mar 2019 13:30:00
A lot of people are forgetting Grujic is having a great season at Hertha. Expect him to get a chance next season.

{Ed002's Note - If he can get a Work Permit.}

7.) 07 Mar 2019 13:00:49
Considering how Mahrez and Sane seem to be struggling to nail down a first team berth at City, its possible Klopp maybe feels spending big on someone who can only play as a forward may be a luxury considering our front 3 rarely get injured. In that case, getting in a creative No.10 who can also play upfront would be the ideal scenario and explains Klopp's interest in Fekir last summer.

Question for Ed002:

Who in you opinion would be the ideal signing that can play as a CAM and cover for our front 3?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think anyone could cover for the front three and play AM, including Fekir. Liverpool have looked at Bruno Fernandes (AM) and perhaps Pablo Sarabia has the skill set you want.}

8.) 07 Mar 2019 20:24:13
There’s high hopes for Brewster, he certainly has an eye for goal.

{Ed025's Note - the problem is drogie that a lot of the time these young prodigy,s dont reach their potential, they get a bit of money, a bit of stinky and a bit of fame and lose focus, the footballing world is littered with young guys who looked really good early on then lost their way mate, its a lottery..

9.) 07 Mar 2019 19:30:53
Is our interest in Bruno Fernandes recent Ed and is he obtainable.

{Ed002's Note - Really pricey Virg.}

10.) 07 Mar 2019 21:16:43
I agree with ed 25, a lot of people seem to be hanging their hat on Brewster who is completely unproven. I hope as much as the next bloke that he’s the next Rashford but there’s 100’s of Jerome Sinclair’s for every Rashford.

{Ed025's Note - your right there mate..

11.) 07 Mar 2019 21:26:00
The amount of pressure from expectation people are already putting on him is madness ed.

{Ed025's Note - it really is hopeful, i would love to see him come through but he needs to progress in his own time mate..

12.) 08 Mar 2019 06:56:12
It’s so hard to predict these young kids, I don’t think Rashford was rated that highly at Utd, there seemed to be more buzz coming out of OT about Wilson previously and look what’s happened to both their careers.

13.) 07 Mar 2019 22:19:18
Thanks very much for the info Ed2.

14.) 07 Mar 2019 22:30:13
Hmm 🤔 ok Ed cheers mate.

15.) 08 Mar 2019 12:03:43
No one is hanging their hat on Brewster.
The lad is a good and he showed his worth in the World Cup and I’ve seen him play a number of times

It all boils down to his desire and determination to succeed, he certainly has the talent.

16.) 08 Mar 2019 10:26:44
Very true Ed - the gulf in quality from u23 and PL is huge, so there are plenty of kids that look awesome but don’t make it. If you look at the likes of Rashford, Kane and others, it’s hard to predict who will make it as it often comes down to character than potential.

Brewster seems to have the goods, but I hope we have a top backup forward on the bench next year and not just hoping Brewster can come on and change games in his first season.

{Ed025's Note - you have to be very careful with players like brewster SG, the kid is very talented but to throw him in at the deep end could ruin him, i know people will say if your good enough your old enough but thats not always the case, it has to be slowly slowly catchee monkey for me mate and he will be ready when the coaches say he is ready..

17.) 08 Mar 2019 16:54:27
Speaking of youngsters I remember people saying Jordan ibe and ojo were were better then sterling by academy coaches and for one reason or another sterling grew the other halted just shows you can never know hard work is the only way.

{Ed025's Note - your right dezy..

18.) 08 Mar 2019 21:02:25
I'm sure there's people on here that watch more German football than I do. What is it with Werner? Is he the real deal? I only watched him at the world cup and was very unimpressed. I do realise that he was part of a whole team that completely under-performed but for me, I didn't see one thing that he did that impressed me. I'd be happy to hear what others think though.

19.) 09 Mar 2019 07:26:07
I'm with you EP, he's not all he's cracked up to be mate.

20.) 09 Mar 2019 10:51:22
Werner? Untested at the highest level is my appraisal.

21.) 10 Mar 2019 08:08:26
Agree with RK Werner does look a talent but the gamble of coming to another league is big the prem is quicker stronger in the tackle and more demanding although I think we need competition for firmino to push him I don’t think werner is the man for it . I see jovic as better suited to us but the Ed’s have said no interest in him from us .

18 Dec 2018 08:10:08
Good morning Ed’s. I wondered if you have any knowledge of Alberto Moreno’s longevity at the club and whether any replacements are being looked at? Thanks for your great work.

Run of the Milner

{Ed001's Note - he is expected to leave in the summer at the latest, so yes, the club is looking to find a replacement for then. There have been a lot looked at, but also the youth left back's have a few months to earn the spot. With it being a shorter window again, it might be difficult to get all the deals done the club wants to do, so they will have to prioritise. There is a lot of incentive there for a young full-back to step up.}

1.) 18 Dec 2018 09:14:26
Is it safe to assume Adam Lewis would be a strong favourite as far as youth players stepping up goes, Ed?

{Ed001's Note - it certainly seems that way right now MKS.}

2.) 18 Dec 2018 09:39:01
I really hope he does, it almost irks me a bit to go out and spend money on a backup left back.

I know it’s all part of having a strong squad but it was can bring through quality squad players from the academy then that frees up valuable funds!

As the Ed’s continuously say we are pumping extraudinary levels to win the league, being able to free up wages to bring through youth will go a small way to helping that.

Plus the more youth coming through and getting opportunities the more likely young players see our club as a destination of prosperity.

3.) 18 Dec 2018 09:53:57
Fingers crossed for Adam Lewis it'd be nice to see another youngster come through the ranks. I've never even seen the lad play that I know of but to hear any youngster is close to breaking through is always good news.

Ed what is your opinion on the shorter window again? bullsh*t if you ask me mate, why change it, it's bloody daft.

{Ed001's Note - it is ridiculous, the lack of intelligence in football is mind boggling. The problems only arrived when they brought in a window, instead of leaving it open all season. Plus it makes it much more difficult for youngsters to get a shot in the Prem, as teams can't take the risk so buy lots more back up players. If the window is open you can run with a smaller squad and then buy if players get injured for the long term and a youngster proves to be not up to the task of covering.}

4.) 18 Dec 2018 10:46:57
problem with an open window, is that MAn City will just buy up anyone who is platying well. Mahrez + vardy would have gone by May and leicester would never have won the league. it would totally unbalance teams, we had enough of this with couts. at least when the window passes you know they will stay. imagine every week RM hassling Salah and Mane.

{Ed002's Note - No, Manchester City have to comply with FFP.}

5.) 18 Dec 2018 11:50:19
If we do buy a replacement, I'd like us to go for Diego Laxalt as long as the price is 'reasonable'. Main reason being that he'd provide cover in multiple positions.

6.) 18 Dec 2018 14:29:55
What about Juanma- isn't he a left back?

7.) 18 Dec 2018 16:52:34
Thanks for the reply Ed. Good reading as well as the commentary to follow.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

8.) 18 Dec 2018 17:43:34
@5 Salah a day. He is a left back but has had a run of poor form which looks like he is starting to recover from, but it has hurt his reputation as being the next likely to step up.

9.) 18 Dec 2018 18:59:02
Exactly my thoughts too Ed and people wonder why the youngsters aren't getting chances! this is the problem. It's a bloody shame mate.

{Ed001's Note - it will never change to be honest, football has no foresight or intelligence to truly understand what they are doing.}

10.) 18 Dec 2018 20:40:11
Gallagher is another who could step up, it seems very sensible to take a look at one of Lewis, Gallagher or Juanma. Is Ayore a left back too can’t remember now?

11.) 19 Dec 2018 01:47:54
It should be Adam Lewis, he’s capable of getting forward and creating a threat, and has the pace to recover back. He reminds a lot of how Trent was looking ready when he first arrived on the scene.

12.) 19 Dec 2018 06:19:20
How about right back?

13.) 19 Dec 2018 08:02:14
We have TAA, Gomez, Milner, Fabinho and Clyne for the right back position. If Milner and Clyne leave in the summer then I'd expect an incoming right back.

14.) 19 Dec 2018 08:47:55
id just keep moreno.

15.) 19 Dec 2018 09:35:09
@SG red, I thought the same thing about Lewis. I’ve only found the time to look at a few of the highlights on YouTube, which isn’t the best sample, but from what I saw he looks really capable of pinging a balls in from an advanced position. My hesitation with the youngsters is how physical the premier league is.

16.) 19 Dec 2018 10:19:27
I would like to see Lewis blooded into being an option for this position, Milner and Gomez could provide cover to let the young lad get used to the step up.

17.) 19 Dec 2018 11:08:32
This is of course on the assumption that Robbo puta the petroleum companies out of business. How that lad keeps running I don’t know! Credit where credits due, he’s a bl*ody tank engine!

I remember reading before Christmas that a fan on this site is a friend of Joe Gomez. If he/ she is reading, I hope JG is recovering from injury and look forward to seeing him play in the new year.

ST gave an update just yesterday actually. Pretty sure it was in reply to the Review of the Day thread that Ed001 posts every morning so it should still be on banter page 2.

Any chance we’ll be looking at a cheap option like Alderweireld? Sorry if this has been asked already, I’m yet to scroll down.

I’m well and truly over these Salah stories. He’s a great player, he’s currently a Liverpool player and he’s going to poke in the winner against spurs. The end.

I really think Werner would be a huge signing for the club. Shame his sights are on Bayern this summer. But who knows, maybe he’ll do a u-turn and realise we’re the new loaf in the bakery.

Right or wrong my view of Lovren, despite knowing he was not first choice, is that he put the shift in. Forget the wage bills the club can manage those affairs. As fans where we can make a difference, I feel we should be backing a player who did a sterling job as in-fill defence for us. He is blatantly not the best defender we’ve seen but his heart and head are in the right places. With VVD coupled, he did very little wrong and I’d be happy knowing that we have that level of cover on the pitch.
Regarding an earlier comment about Manchester City, I actually think on that occasion Klopp failed to react to City bringing on an additional attacker which resulted in us conceding.
