If you know me, that's my fear too. Ox simply isn't a competent centre midfielder. Period. He never will be either, and instead of getting the best we could, we end up with some who isn't good enough. This is why we don't win the league, I'm gearing myself up for another season of fail.

That must be a joke, Ed25. Lukaku is not better than Morata as Lukaku would not make RM's or Spain's squad while Morata is to me, a better all round footballer and has some Fernando Torres in his game. Mou made the wrong move here as Morata would have been the better player. Morata is a proven quantity in Europe as he proved at Juve and in his youth at Real (won 2 CL titles in 4 straight finals) . Lukaku is indeed proven in the PL. Proven at scoring goals vs the bottom 6-10 teams and then going missing for the other games esp. vs the top 6 majority of the time. Yeah, what a player!
{Ed025's Note - he scored more against the top 6 than harry kane brussels as it turns out so you obviously dont rate him either?, tactics dictate how well a player performs as well as ability so your argument is mainly anti-everton rather than a balanced view, i happen to like morata but i have seen some of these spanish and italian players come over here and flop because they cant hack the english game and thats why im saying its a gamble..but obviously your an expert..

Guys I still think Liverpool are as strong as I've seen them the past 30 years. I just think we need three top quality (wether we get them or not) signings. Just to be able to keep the tempo up with the champions league games etc. So what's people thoughts as it's not likely to be VVD, keita. Salah we got so who next can we keep sahko?
Is mendy to m city done.?
Is Robertson good enough?
We need to get real as supporters as to were we can be realistic looking for players. Are we aiming to high? Not with Robertson apparently!
I think we have a great chance to build something special for us going forward. But for me the club is at its biggest crossroads it's been at for years.

I thought this was going to be one of the best transfer windows in meany years with the prospect of champions league and klopp in charge. And I know the window has only just opened and we've sighed a winger. but just thought klopp would want the players in asap to start preseason next week. Fingers crossed we are not saying we can't find a LB at the end of the window. Come on Liverpool let's get the players we need. Asap.

We often tend to romanticise the past and underrate the present.
To say this team is nowhere near Rafa's team is a grossly wrong statement imo. I'd put this team now with the addition of Salah at par with them. Add Keita and VVD and this will be our best team of the premier league era in my humble opinion.

Rafa had Gerrard, Alonso, Torres at his peak and an excellent defence. I think Mane and coutinho would get in that team but no one else.

Fair to say the only player in Rafas team who definitely wouldn't get into this one was Babel. Kuyt was at least as good as Mane but arguably Mane gives away work rate for more pace in behind. Mascherano was a better defensive player than Wijnaldum but not as effective going forward so I'd call that a draw.
Aside from that, every other player from Rafas best team would walk into our team.

Loved Kuyt but Mane starts over him, Aurelio. eh I think I take Milner (probably get blasted for that but I don't recall Arbeloa and Aurelio as fondly as others. Problem with rafas best team was depth which we have in spades and I can still see us being a strong side domestically and in Europe. Plus we don't know what Salah will be for us and could add a serious player or two in a few days. Good point of this thread however is that Rafa had some amazing players at his disposal!

All teams are judged by what they win, Rafa nailed it in his early to mid terms, Klopp has had a bigger job rebuilding overall IMO so maybe a bit early to make a complete judgement, and why doesn't Hamman get a shout, personally I thought he was excellent.
