I've heard LFC are hopeful of getting Emre to sign a new contract, closely followed by Firmino.

They will also look to tie down Salah and Mane on long term deals.

There are also rumours that Leipzig woruld accept 10mill euros extra to release Keita early as he is adamant his time at the club is up.

Long contracts mean nothing nowadays.

2.) 11 Jan 2018 08:26:32
Jimmy-Stops them going for free or less than market value.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 08:45:44
Don't rate Can to be honest lads!
Love to see keita come January but can't see it!

4.) 11 Jan 2018 09:40:13
Really I think we can forget about Emre Can. Klopp's not his style of manager and he isn't Klopp's style of player. It's not a personal thing either way, but in a jigsaw only the right piece fits in the right place.

Should Firmino sign a new longer term contract it will be more to do with increasing his transfer value I suspect in order to minimise the number of clubs continually sniffing round him down to the usual suspects (Barca, City etc) .

Keita is needed now and if we could somehow reach an agreement this window to pay an extra amount in order to get him early then that should be a priority.

5.) 11 Jan 2018 15:05:14
Since no one has said it, Harry Kane? But I also heard we’d have to provide him with a lifetime supply of dribble bibs.

I literally have no clue who it could be. How fun.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 22:43:14
Yeah I just read that they are wanting to offer Bobby a contract for the rest of his playing career, that'll stop him leaving for free at least xD

Leipzig will not accept another 10mil to let Keita go early either, that is lazy journalism/ rumours IMO. 10mil is pocket change for RB and they'd lose a lot more than that if they had a sheitt 2nd half of the season and finished lower down the table due to losing Keita.

So according to some people, VVD was a done deal.

24hrs later, the same people are saying we haven't agreed a deal with Southampton although the player definitely wants the move. They are also saying the 'illegal approach' was a smokescreen.

48hrs later, LFC drop all interest and apologise to Southampton.

So much for the reliable sources and people in the know.

No deal was EVER agreed with Saints or the player!

Embarrassing.

SgtPepper

{Ed025's Note - it was agreed with him and his agent sgtP, everyone assumed that the club were part of the negotiations but it turned out that that was not the case mate..

1.) 07 Jun 2017 19:33:27
Yes obviously there was something in it. It's just that it's gone wrong. Hey you know what, maybe it's for the best. Perhaps we should just stick to our original plan and not get sidetracked. I just hope we will learn the lessons and this will NEVER happen again. Not a good start to the summer! Let's hope we have a good ending!

2.) 07 Jun 2017 19:34:04
Every time macca says done deal it goes Tits up. Haha keep shush till it goes through.

3.) 07 Jun 2017 19:32:12
The fact that all this was happening and the club did not know, is criminal warranting the sacking of whoever was involved in this shambles, IMO.

{Ed025's Note - klopp was obviously involved...so sack him?

4.) 07 Jun 2017 19:50:33
He needs to be brought into line if that is the case lEd25.

This could have a serious impact on whom we sign during this transfer window. The consequences of not getting this transfer window right could have a damaging impact for many seasons to come.

In my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - you could be right nicky, im not saying its good mate just that beating the club with a big stick is not the answer..

5.) 07 Jun 2017 19:53:19
Ed025 - And why not? I am not at all saying that Klopp should be sacked for any proven offence in the VVD situation. But if it is proven that he is guilty of any sackable offence then he should be sacked, just as much as any other LFC employees guilty of a sackable offence.

{Ed025's Note - thats called...cutting your nose off to spite your face ra, rap some knuckles anmd move on i say..

6.) 07 Jun 2017 20:06:39
Those hoping for a happy ending can forget it, this isn't going to end well and I can see us getting a kicking. Not only that, but we're utterly incapable of bringing in top players so we are not going to be able to compete. We're going to a Grand Prix hoping to win in a Yugo Zastava. That's the state of our club.

7.) 07 Jun 2017 19:45:43
Is that it Ed025? Liverpool have suffered immense embarrassment because no one thought check that the other club knew? Where were the lawyers and the Admin people?

{Ed025's Note - ok then polecat, kick some arses or sack someone or maybe donate some money to a southampton hospital or something..then move on..

8.) 07 Jun 2017 20:19:17
then yes ed, its a disgrace and if klopp played his part then he has dragged our name through the mud. sorry but Liverpool is bigger than klopp.

{Ed025's Note - i think your intentions are honourable jay but if this was pep or mourinho do you think their supporters would be calling for the manager to fall on his sword?...i think not mate..

9.) 07 Jun 2017 20:22:33
To be honest ed25, Klopp should have some repercussions from this. Yes we all love him and in my opinion he is a world class manager but in any other line of work, you put your employers reputation (already poor) into more disrepute through pure incompetence (which it is no matter how our fans try and spin it), you would be in for a serious disciplinary. Very poor from all involved.

{Ed025's Note - i agree gunn its piss poor mate, discipline all involved and hand out some final warnings i say, maybe sack a lawyer or two just dont do anything that will halt the progress of the club and undo the hard work of last season as an act of contrition..

10.) 07 Jun 2017 20:26:58
Ed025, we may not sack him as that is just cutting your nose to spite your face and many other managers have done this and did not get sacked. He should be reprimanded prolly in private and be given a stern warning to stop this nonsense cos this is the second time he is doing this to my knowledge (last summer with Zeilinski) .

{Ed025's Note - i will have that brussels, cut him out of any future dealings if hes guilty and fine him 2 weeks wages and donate it to the manchester or london victims fund or similar mate, but have an internal inquiry first and not a knee jerk reaction..

11.) 07 Jun 2017 21:14:02
Yeah ed, I agree that sacking Klopp would not be beneficial to us in anyway, as you said throw some warnings / disciplinary's around and make certain that this doesn't happen again. As ed002 has said countless times we are becoming a laughing stock.

{Ed025's Note - im not playing it down gunn its a very serious matter and it has made the club look amateurish, dont throw the baby out with the bath water thats all im saying mate..

12.) 07 Jun 2017 22:49:19
All clubs are at it. you are naiive to think they don't. liverpool just stupid enough to leak everything to the press.

13.) 07 Jun 2017 23:10:26
Yeah I see what your saying ed. Thanks for the reply and looks like Edwards is the one that fsg are coming to speak to about it mate.

{Ed025's Note - im sure we will find out presently mate..

14.) 09 Jun 2017 13:41:05
Been reading this site for years and Macca has got a better percentage of things right than anybody else in the media let alone this site. He doesn't have to share what he does so turn it in! Most of us on here appreciate his input and posts like this will lose his information altogether. We're all disappointed but stuff happens its football we'll get over it!

According to Keveh Solhekol (Sky Sports) on Twitter:

On Van Dijk dispute - the Premier League are discussing Southampton's concerns with Liverpool. There is no investigation at the moment.

Hi Ed's,

Any news on the VVD transfer? Do the latest developments mean we may miss out?

SgtPepper

{Ed001's Note - there is no development, we still have to agree terms with Saints.}

1.) 06 Jun 2017 16:43:50
It will be fine. Saints reported spurs over toby what ever his name is. It's probably just postern and sour grapes. Just a matter of time I think. Ynwa.

2.) 06 Jun 2017 16:43:58
It's done according to Graeme Kelly who is the only person to know about our interest since March, £44 mil plus 8mil add ons.

3.) 06 Jun 2017 16:59:13
That Kelly bloke reckons it's already sorted. He also said ( yesterday ) that there will be a statement of some sort ( today ) wouldn't disclose as he said it would annoy the fans?

Dunno how reliable he is. I just go with the Ed's and Macca.

4.) 06 Jun 2017 16:52:28
On yahoo it says this
Southampton have asked the Premier League to investigate an alleged illegal approach from Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk, according to reports.

Southampton are angered by the Reds allegedly making contact with Van Dijk without permission and have made it clear to the Premier League that they have received no official approach for the player.

READ MORE: Premier League 2017/ 18 – Every team, every signing for next season

Van Dijk is expected to leave the south coast this summer but Southampton are unwilling to let the Dutchman leave. It has been widely reported the Dutchman prefers a move to Anfield, but he’s also being chased by Chelsea and Manchester City.

Liverpool are willing to pay a world-record sum for a defender – expected to be around £60m – to break Southampton’s resistance while they are also prepared to match City’s offer of a contract worth around £200,000 a week.

Van Dijk would become Liverpool’s record signing and highest-paid player should the deal go ahead.
He has five years to run on his contract, meaning Southampton are in a strong position regarding his future.

5.) 06 Jun 2017 17:36:52
Thing is Alderwield wasn't a Saint player.

6.) 06 Jun 2017 17:41:33
Its a possibility of a fine and point deduction. Wont affect the deal for VVD as long as we agree figure with Saints. That about right ed?

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on what the crime is that we are being accused of. Until we know for sure what Saints' complaint actually is, no one can possibly know what the punishment could be.}

7.) 06 Jun 2017 18:03:35
I think its the fact we didn't get permission from them. Great stuff . I guess that's that then. Transfer ban likely. No vvd salah etc. Jesus christ Liverpook why owe why! Aaaarrrrgggghhhjh.

8.) 06 Jun 2017 18:24:58
Am I not right in saying Southampton have a history of doing this to clubs. They did it with Clyne, and alderweireld. As well as that every paper has printed both Pep and Conte have spoken to VVD, so I think it's all a load of bs just to get more money, some even saying trying to force VVD to City because they are paying more.
I trust Macca when he says it's done as well as others who seem to have decent knowledge. Big up all the eds btw.

9.) 07 Jun 2017 02:48:27
How could Saints have done it with Aldeweireld if he was never actually owned by Southampton? He was only loaned there.

{Ed001's Note - they had agreed a deal to sign him, terms were agreed with the player, then Spurs stepped in and he changed his mind.}

10.) 07 Jun 2017 15:39:38
My understanding is that some news recently have made Southampton reconsider whether we have behaved appropriately. And they has asked for an investigation based on this. This does not mean we have misbehaved or that we haven't.

Shay Given being released by Stoke, I would sign him up as an experienced third choice keeper with a coaching roll. (We have released Manninger)

Anything is better than Achterberg.

6 months ago I would have agreed regarding Achtenburg, he wasn't doing a very good job at all and I believe he kept the role because he's considered to be a very likeable guy.

However the improvements mignolet has shown have to attributed to his efforts as a goal keeping coach and tbh now I reckon he's doing enough to justify keeping his job.

MrDennis, How is the sticking point over the contract relatively easy to sort? Can wants guaranteed football which Klopp can't promise. He also wants a buyout clause which the club do not want. If you give one player a buyout clause, then every subsequent player will want one therefore weakening our hand in the transfer market.

In my opinion, everything has been done properly. LFC offered the best deal they could and Can and his agent are sticking to what they want. If a deal can't be reached then it is inevitable that the player will leave at the end of his contract and nobody is to blame.

You can't force a player to sign and you can't force a club into an unfair deal.

Good luck to him.
