Being reported we have submitted a bid of around £61-65 million for Joao Felix.

Slaphead

1.) 18 Jan 2019 21:21:48
Nice little player, but far too early for a PL move imo.

2.) 18 Jan 2019 21:27:50
Surprising if we are looking to spend that much, fake news I think.

3.) 18 Jan 2019 21:38:16
And been rejected. His buyout is 105 million. can't see the story being true tho does look a talented kid.

4.) 18 Jan 2019 22:34:02
That’s a hell of a lot of money for a kid. can't see this happening!

5.) 18 Jan 2019 22:35:19
Ruben Dias plays for Benefica and Ed did say we were scouting him. The papers think we need an attacking midfielder and probably saw a scout with his credentials. Made up the story and went from there, unless any of the Eds can say otherwise.

6.) 18 Jan 2019 23:52:52
Actually I disagree that it’s too early for a (hypothetical) move. He’s an absolute raw talent and unlike a lot of our youngsters who I think aren’t ready for the spotlight, Felix looks like he wants to own it. He would need to bulk up to compete in the PL. He immediately looks like a player to employ in the 60th minute against park the bus teams to show off flare and build experience but I do see a spark in this kid that reminds me of a young (not the Brazilian) Ronaldo. Rant over 😁.

7.) 19 Jan 2019 01:59:56
He can be our next Markovic.

8.) 19 Jan 2019 06:54:55
But Markovic bought by Brendan Roger, RedEka.

9.) 19 Jan 2019 08:35:31
Could include Markovic in the deal if his ex club would take him.

10.) 19 Jan 2019 10:37:04
If he’a still a raw talent, move off . We alr hv one in talented Curtis Jones!

11.) 19 Jan 2019 10:48:24
He can also play in goal.

12.) 20 Jan 2019 13:59:49
Rather buy Ruben Neves than Dias!

26 Oct 2015 20:47:10
L'Equipe claiming that Liverpool sent scouts to watch talented PSG duo, Christopher Nkunku and Lamine Ba.
Nkunku, 17, is an attacking midfielder, whilst Ba, 18, is a central defender.

Being reported that Liverpool interest in Zenit St. Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon is intensifying, and it appears that the Reds are actively trying to seal a deal worth £15 million.
Some info about 25-year old Rondon:

* 2012: Became the most expensive Venezuelan footballer in history when he signed for Rubin Khazan in a €10m deal.

* 2013: Broke the record for most goals by a Venezuelan player in La Liga.

* 2014: Cost Zenit St. Petersburg £15.8m.

* Malaga: 27 goals/7 assists in 72 apps (Goal/assist every 2 games)

* Rubin: 25 goals/3 assists in 56 apps (Goal/assist every 2 games)

* Zenit: 28 goals/8 assists in 55 apps (Goal/assist every 1.5 games)

* Totals: 80 goals/18 assists (98) 183 apps (Goal/assist every 1.8 games).
Worth a bid???

Slaphead

1.) 15 Jul 2015 08:59:33
I have absolutely no idea what Rondon would bring as I haven't watched him play. Would appreciate comments from people who have seen him play (in real matches, not just YouTube!).

However, I remember one of the Eds (Ed001, I think?) saying he's not the right player for us.

So £15m may be half of what is being mooted for Benteke, but for a player who isn't right for us (based on opinion of someone I trust with these matters) and is untested in the premier league and is already 25, doesn't seem like such a great deal to me.

Happy to be proved wrong, but seems like too much of a gamble.

2.) 15 Jul 2015 09:00:44
* 2013: Broke the record for most goals by a Venezuelan player in La Liga.

Haha, what a record to have, can't imagine much competition

3.) 15 Jul 2015 09:42:25
@op6, exactly ya. Also the calculator seems to be broken and figures rounded down when it suits.

@Slaphead, worth a bid? I would say no. Why bother with him, we need either someone clearly a step up on what we have (other than a fit Sturridge) and he's not that.

4.) 15 Jul 2015 12:22:55
Just going to say that it seems your post is based on wishful thinking and being a Rondon fan. The facts you decided to include being the main pointer here. What is the speculation more precisely?

5.) 15 Jul 2015 12:36:49
Would prefer Rondon to Benteke if I am honest

6.) 15 Jul 2015 16:52:00
benteke is better than Rondon by a country mile due to a better upside to improve as well as experience in the PL. i watched Rondon at the Copa America and was not impressed at all.

After yesterdays horror show maybe some good news, it is being reported that the club is about to complete a deal for Benfica star Eduardo Salvio according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. Apparently Benfica's president Luis Filipe Vieira and agent Jorge Mendes flying into England for talks.
Liverpool were named as a likely destination for Salvio and O Jogo reckon those talks have been going on.
The Argentine has a £40m buyout clause but Liverpool would get him for significantly less than that. O Jogo say in their Monday edition that Salvio's exit is 'a matter of days' away and that exit will be to Liverpool.
The Benfica player injured his knee in his club's game at the weekend but that's not thought to be serious. It will keep him out of the Portuguese League Cup final but an absence of three weeks is the stated lay-off and it shouldn't halt any transfer. A note of caution for Liverpool fans would be that the Portuguese press can get a little carried so could be jumping the gun, but they were first on Lazar Markovic to Liverpool so deserve credit for that.

1.) 25 May 2015 08:46:48
Cheers for the info Slaphead. It may or may not happen and I don't know if he's good enough or not. Hopefully, we strengthen effectively this time round.

Red Rum

2.) 25 May 2015 08:58:22
Good player, but 40 million is way too much, considering the injuries he's had. Maybe if they have halved that price.

3.) 25 May 2015 12:02:20
£40 million is too much ?
We'll probably pay 50 then.
And then have the pleasure of watching him sit on the bench or toil at right back.
The club shouldn't sign anybody until they've sorted the manager situation out.

{Ed002's Note - Just to clarify matters. Mendes has been in London and Manchester over the weekend and is now in Madrid dealing with two matters there.}

4.) 25 May 2015 15:25:57
As usual Ed002 is on the ball with the information that us mere mortals could only dream of.
Totally agree that 40 million is way to much, but we are being linked with quite a few at the moment.
This is a very important window and hope who ever is in charge gets it right.
Thanks for all the hard work Eds and looking forward to the next transfer window.

5.) 26 May 2015 10:37:12
Get Salvio in him and Markovic were elletric for
Benfica 2 season ago.

08 Aug 2014 20:58:20
We are now being linked with Lazio's Balde Keita Diao, 19 years old. Lazio have snubbed a £16m offer from the Reds - and they want £24m for Keita's services.
Any more we are linked with as this is getting ridiculous now.
We are being linked with the world and his wife.

Hi Eds
Think holding the victory parade on the same day as Heysel anniversary is wrong.

Slaphead

{Ed0666's Note - if indeed you’re correct slaphead that’s a massive oversight on our part. That day is for mourning and celebration not celebration.

1.) 20 May 2022 18:44:50
It is and it’s already been mentioned by the club it’s not an oversight.

2.) 20 May 2022 19:00:16
The club are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I'd imagine most of the players leave for international duty that week so the following weekend is impossible and from the practicality view, a weekday probably isn't the smartest move.

In my opinion, if the club can be respectful of those lost lives and don't just brush the anniversary under the carpet then I think it can be done in a respectful manner.

3.) 20 May 2022 21:42:29
If am not mistaken they could hold it on the Monday as it’s bank holiday Monday and would give fans that are in Paris an extra day to get home.

4.) 21 May 2022 06:24:59
Not bank Holiday is it?

5.) 21 May 2022 07:44:47
Marty Last Monday of may is normally a bank holiday it’s whitson is it not?

6.) 21 May 2022 12:40:04
Queen Jubilee has seen bank holidays on a Thursday and Friday at beginning of June so they got rid of the normal may bank holiday.

May i suggest that the scouts look at a player who is at AFC Wimbledon?
Ayoub Assal. 19 years old
Very exciting young player taking league 1 by storm.
Remember the name.

Good info, Slaphead. Like you, I do like to look at stats and history. If nothing else, your summary should remind us of the many barren years we endured and perhaps refocus our appreciation for what we’ve experienced in the last couple of years.

That said, I think the comparison falters a little when you consider that we started the season as Champions, led from the front early on and were top at Christmas (very easy to forget that) . We had most of the best players in their positions in the league and, by many people’s estimations, the best manager in the world. In all of those previous years, we were either in complete decline or trying to re-establish ourselves so there were limited expectations. I think that’s why we’re all so frustrated and bemused this season.

Hi all
Belated happy new year to all.
Tried the search but nothing came up.
Reported we are possibly looking at Sam McCallum who is at Coventry.
Young left back.
Any idea EDs?

Slaphead

{Ed002's Note - It was dealt with a month ago - you need to search again.}

Punched in players name and nothing.
Put in Coventry and there it is.
Sorry to waste your time.

{Ed002's Note - Interesting.}

2.) 17 Jan 2020 16:26:51
Typed in "McCallum", had no issues finding it.

"{Ed002's Note - He has certainly been looked at by Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea but I agree that Larouci, and I would think Lewis, would be miffed if he were to come in as first choice cover. I would doubt Liverpool are looking for a long-term replacement of Robertson just yet. }"

3.) 17 Jan 2020 19:31:13

01 Dec 2019 07:48:17
All those moaning about the free kick being taken quickly.
Did not hear you moaning when TAA took a quick corner against Barcelona.
These things happen.
The players had switched off and Dunk took the opportunity.
Someone should have stood on the ball to stop it happening.
We won. Still top and 11 points clear
Lesson learned.

Slaphead

1.) 01 Dec 2019 08:59:56
corner kick is different from freekick.

{Ed001's Note - still the same principle, you either hold up the kick from being taken or you accept it may be taken before you are ready.}

2.) 01 Dec 2019 09:38:52
ed don't you have to wait for the refs whistle for a freekick and not for corners. And after just coming on and stood at the post behind the wall. if you let that go once you have to do it all the time. then keepers would never get there walls sorted.

{Ed001's Note - the ref did whistle and it is not his fault it took us so long to get Adrian on. The VAR replay took ages, Adrian should have been ready to come straight on. Stop blaming others for our own failings. That is what losers do. If you want to be a winner you have to fix problems, not make excuses.}

3.) 01 Dec 2019 09:49:25
Credit to the opposition, it was a good goal. They took advantage when we went to sleep. Lesson learnt and move on. It made the game even more enjoyable and interesting. Let's focus on beating the Toffees. JFT96 YNWA.

{Ed001's Note - well said EVO.}

4.) 01 Dec 2019 10:38:37
yeah i agree. made think of thiery henry! bit annoying to concede in that manner, bu, credit where credits due.

{Ed001's Note - we used to be known for being fans who would applaud a goal like that scored against us or a great goal. Sad that too many fans now just want to whine rather than give credit to the scorer.}

5.) 01 Dec 2019 11:14:01
The referee blew the whistle! Well done for quick thinking and catching Adrian napping!

{Ed001's Note - well said.}

6.) 01 Dec 2019 11:16:44
Watched it on match of the day and there was a clear whistle before Dunk even began his run up to more or less pass the ball into the back of the net. Adrian made a couple of saves when he came on but he almost gifted Brighton another with the lame header he spilled. If a player had followed that in we would have conceded a 2nd. We didn’t though and we won the Match.

7.) 01 Dec 2019 11:20:58
Lol good god, who really cares? We won. We conceded because of the free kick, so? I couldn't give a damn, we walked away with the 3 points that's all I'm bothered about. Good on them for scoring that free kick.

8.) 01 Dec 2019 11:24:16
Me and another red watched the game and when we saw the Brighton goal both of us said fair play to them. Well spotted and quick thinking by Dunk👍👏.

9.) 02 Dec 2019 00:25:42
Would like to point out that for our second goal when Trent took the corner the ball was in front of the lines and not touching (I was sitting right by it) It should of been a retake.

If there was a problem with the free kick them they have evened out.

10.) 02 Dec 2019 03:04:00
It was a quick piece of thinking and hats off to Dunk who spotted it. I’d rather we make that mistake and won against Brighton than concede like that in a major final and lose a trophy. Hopefully that’ll be one the lads learn from and don’t make again.

I think his name is Simon Moses. Fast young winger. He plays in Belgian league now for Gent. I saw him also in some matches in Slovakian League. He was better than the rest. I remember also Matic and Skrtel in this league who were very good as well. But with all respect to our league it means nothing. He is young with potential but I don't see reason to buy him, it is better to keep Sterling, Ibe, Markovic and let them play. We need top class players ready into first team and give more time on the pitch for players from academy. He is good and has future but needs time and I do not think he is what we need right now.

eomer
{Ed002's Note - This is one I can help with. Gent's Moses Simon has attracted the declared interest of PSV, Apolonia Fier, Spurs, Ajax, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Fenerbahce and has apparently been watched by Viking, Liverpool, Reading, Midtjylland, Arsenal and probably others. }.
