Evening all, I doubt Joe Gomez will play again this season ( he'll probably start against palace now and make me look stupid) apart from maybe a cameo now and then, Klopp wants him to have a proper pre season, he's a big part of the plans going forward he'll be pushing lovren and be ahead of Klavan from what I can gather, sturridge looking likely to leave which seems to be common knowledge right now not that he particularly wants too, also Klopp really wants TAA to be a regular 1st team player next season not sure what that means for Clyne but I just know Klopp wants Trent in the team, it could mean nothing as we know he's very versatile.

1.) 20 Apr 2017 20:10:20
Always good to hear your in ST.

2.) 20 Apr 2017 22:17:35
Thanks for the info.

3.) 20 Apr 2017 23:35:51
Boss thanks la.

4.) 21 Apr 2017 02:37:17
I think TAA would make a good RM/ RW. best crosser of the ball I've seen in a Liverpool shirt for a long time. Once players like origi get used to where he is going to put the ball it could be a deadly move. Or maybe klopp is thinking 532 which in my opinion would suit TAA more than clyne.

5.) 21 Apr 2017 04:33:44
TAA is so important to the future of the club but also the future of Klopp. By bringing players like TAA through the ranks it allows Klopp to really build HIS team in his mould and allow him also to say "look at the players I've brought through". There is big focus on this at all clubs but when top clubs can do it, its huge.

6.) 21 Apr 2017 08:26:47
Cheers for the info squareT send Joe our best as always and again thank you for the info much appreciated and great to hear about Joe and Trent.

7.) 21 Apr 2017 11:26:34
Does anyone else see us playing 3 at the back next season

Matip lovren Gomez or hopefully VVD that would be a dre

TAA would be perfect for the Rwb position- Klopp ready said he needs to work on the defending side so playing 3 at the back would allow him to push forward.

Milner and hopefully the Fulham kid also are better attacking.

Hendo Gini can can fight it out for the cm postion

Coutinho postion would not change because he likes to play inside.

Mane can play the other side

Lallana can play any of them 2 postion

Firmino and Origi can also fight it out.

8.) 21 Apr 2017 11:57:32
I think Klopp will continue to play the 4-3-3 but I've noticed that against sides that set a low block and aim to hit on the break, our deep midfielder is increasingly sitting almost between the CBs to create a defacto 3-4-3 and provide a bit more protection against the counterattack.

In more balanced games where possession is 50/ 50 and play frequently switches between attack and defense, he seems to use the high press more and keeps the 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1 shape to cut down the space.

9.) 21 Apr 2017 15:02:59
Cheers Square Tomato, Surely Gomez will play against Palace seens as all other defenders are injured mate?

10.) 21 Apr 2017 15:20:07
Big game for the lad.
Klopp has said he's been the complete package in training for the last few weeks.
He may know some of Benteke's tricks from earlier training sessions.

I hope Migs and Lovren help and not hinder the lad.

11.) 21 Apr 2017 15:21:34
i would think sturridge wants to play, and he has every right to leave to seek for first team opportunities if he's not getting it here.

ive seen players come ago, and i feel like he genuinely loves the club.

12.) 23 Apr 2017 12:52:10
The thing is that the lad is never fit for long enough to warrant first team opportunities
It must be hard for any manager to plan a team around Sturridge.
The lad has ability by the bucket load but needs a less intense league.

01 Apr 2017 09:24:34
speaking to Joe Gomez last night and he said Milner has been training as a CB for next season as he sees it as the only way to get TAA in the team without dropping Clyne and Milner, seems odd to me though.

Square tomato

1.) 01 Apr 2017 09:49:11
That is really really odd. The idea is to put TAA as a leftback? Or Clyne is? But Milner as a centreback? If he can pulls it off, he will be one hell of a player, playing in almost every positions there is. But I personally prefers a tall centre back.

2.) 01 Apr 2017 09:53:14
Milner a CB? If we are planning on shipping more goals then let it be. That would be the most mind boggling situation ever.

3.) 01 Apr 2017 09:59:31
Aprils fools :D.

4.) 01 Apr 2017 10:06:23
Haha I forgot it's the 1st of April.

5.) 01 Apr 2017 10:18:47
Ha ha. Clearly caught me.

6.) 01 Apr 2017 12:49:09
ST you are one of the few posters on here genuinely in the know. Just remember mate, with great power, comes great responsibility.

7.) 01 Apr 2017 13:15:20
Well played ST.

8.) 01 Apr 2017 13:20:25
This is a real possible scenario. We aren't buying any new CB while the club has not shown any intention to offload Clyne as far now. So where would TAA play?

9.) 01 Apr 2017 20:10:25
Put him in the nets 🤠.

10.) 03 Apr 2017 15:42:20
That's a joke, right SQ?

06 Jun 2016 11:28:03
All I know is Klopp wants to keep Joe and have 4 CBs in Lovren matip sakho and Gomez skrtel and toure are expected to leave I keep seeing him being mentioned as a fullback and although he can play there he's seen as a central defender, he's not interested in any loan and wants to stay at Liverpool, the plan is for him to play against Barcelona, that could change.

Square tomato

1.) 06 Jun 2016 12:02:56
Cheers bud.

2.) 06 Jun 2016 12:08:56
Appreciate the info ST, cheers.

3.) 06 Jun 2016 11:40:51
Good news, Square! I also think he should be given a chance as a 4th CB, esp since he has the versatility to cover the flanks. How is his recovery progressing?

4.) 06 Jun 2016 11:54:33
Cheers Mr. T

Keep us updated :)

5.) 06 Jun 2016 12:28:45
Thanks a million ST. What is Joe's preferred position mate?

6.) 06 Jun 2016 14:36:50
As always Square. Appreciate the update.

7.) 06 Jun 2016 14:40:53
Thank you sir for the update on young Joe.

8.) 06 Jun 2016 14:51:26
Cheers Mr tomato greatly appreciated as always, it might be in you name but I would say you are certainly no square slugger.

9.) 06 Jun 2016 12:10:54
I thought Toure had been offered a 1 year extension? Is he now leaving?

10.) 06 Jun 2016 12:17:27
Finally we can put an end to the nonsense that he will struggle under klopp etc.

11.) 06 Jun 2016 23:07:23
Great stuff. I wanted the lad to get a chance.

12.) 07 Jun 2016 11:40:12
Best post on here for a while :) also would suggest something unexpected with the sakho verdict we won't be signing another cb think that could be a good thing and reevaluate then in January :) cheers ST!

13.) 08 Jun 2016 08:26:22
Excellent news, the way he coped with being out of position at such a young age at a tough time showed he has the mental strength and team ethic. He is a good CB so hopefully he can develop over next 2-3 years into the main one.

23 Mar 2016 17:13:57
Ed002 seems you was correct about us perhaps watching bellarabi, reports in Italy saying inter and others have stepped back due to "formidable" competition from Liverpool.

Square tomato

1.) 23 Mar 2016 18:01:33
Ive read he has a low release clause, but that won't make a difference as we paid double firminos release clause.

2.) 23 Mar 2016 19:42:11
Wasn't Firminos release clause only applicable to other German clubs?

3.) 23 Mar 2016 20:02:17
That's correct DecG.

4.) 24 Mar 2016 04:30:21
I'm sure ed002 said that Firmino had a *buyout* clause, not a release clause.

5.) 24 Mar 2016 14:24:53
Why all the disagree clicks? Go and search for yourselves.

6.) 24 Mar 2016 15:51:11
Never comment on people pressing the dislike button, it just makes them angry when they realise they are usless **** tards and they will click it again.

7.) 25 Mar 2016 00:05:59
mate, these people are the equivalent of computer viruses.

8.) 26 Mar 2016 00:01:28
Whatever Firmino's clause, he was a steal!

(see? you need to know how to beat the system)

10 Jan 2016 21:20:46
Danny Ward recalled? Happy with that he's been a big part in Aberdeen doing so well this season conceded only the second fewest behind Celtic.

Square tomato

1.) 10 Jan 2016 21:51:30
I'm not sure how to feel about this. I really hope he's coming back to be given a chance at the first team as I would hate for him to be sitting in the reserves instead of being No 1 for an SPL side. Excited to see how good a job he could do for us as he's certainly an upgrade on Bogdan and probably on Migs, given a run in the side.

2.) 10 Jan 2016 22:17:54
I'm happy with this. Hope he gets a start in the replay I does enough to keep the shirt.

3.) 10 Jan 2016 22:39:07
You've got to feel if he's been recalled its for the number 1 jersey surely, maybe it's a hint of things to come ie the Sturridge rumour, yep we all no Sturridge is class but like me old boss said to me about one of my workmates who taught me the job and new it inside out who used to knock Monday's regular if he ain't at work what use is he.

4.) 10 Jan 2016 22:44:02
He's spent 2 days with Klopp during the international break I'm sure he'll be putting major presure on migs and hopefully become number 1 I'd expect him to play against Exeter.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 23:13:10
Surely can't be coming back to be the number 2, has to be given a chance.

6.) 10 Jan 2016 22:04:24
If he's being recalled to effectively replace Bogdan in the squad I won't be overly pleased because as you say he's been a key player for Aberdeen this season. Having said that if he's back to replace or at the very least challenge Mignolet then I have no complaints.

Ed001 do you know how accurate this rumour is? Also I'd assume you're pleased if true?

{Ed001's Note - we are certainly keen to end his loan move, not sure if there is a recall clause though, so it might be a bit of negotiating required as they won't want to lose him.}

7.) 11 Jan 2016 01:26:48
I suspect to come in as no.2 and be given a shot to prove himself as potential no.1.

8.) 11 Jan 2016 01:46:52
There has got to be a serious shake up going on behind the scenes given the amount of loan recalls taking place surely? Ed1? I'd love to see Ward given a chance, but given the fact he's a guaranteed starter for Aberdeen even benching him instead of Bogdan could hamper some really valuable experience.

{Ed001's Note - he is being brought back to get a chance.}

9.) 11 Jan 2016 03:35:59
Big aberdeen liverpool fan. Am gutted he has left aberdeen as he been our star player saved us loads off times this year been a fab player to get from a top class team like liverpool. I just hope liverpool give him a chance as he played week in week out with aberdeen and got so much better. Glad u put 5 years to his name as i can see him being number 1 for liverpool. Top GK and just going to get better.

10.) 11 Jan 2016 08:44:39
Aberdeen fans are gutted saying he's the best in the league and the floodgates will open now.

11.) 11 Jan 2016 10:58:35
Hi square tomatoe being from aberdeen and being a supporter of aberdeen i can back this up mate we in the north east are gutted if he leaves he's been brilliant to watch live for the dandy dona and he will be sorely missed he can do everything and has helped us keep 2nd place for sure but least i get to see him play for the mighty liverpool ao its win win!

12.) 11 Jan 2016 11:48:29
I'm from Banchory just next to Aberdeen, everyone I've spoken seems absolutely gutted he has been re-called, I just hope he is going to be given a run to prove himself. I've been following his games and has been aberdee a stand out player by far.

All the players in the team are a bit confused as to why coutinho wants Barcelona, especially Firmino who can't understand why he doesn't want to stay at Liverpool ( I know the eds have been saying for ages he's been flirting with Barca) just passing on what I've been told, they all think it's a bit bizarre but aren't really getting involved, pretty sure Firmino wants a new deal though, also karius would be playing but needs to change his lifestyle, klopp isn't happy with him, personally I'd be giving Ward a chance now, also like I've been saying for months TAA is first choice now as far as I know.

Square tomato

1.) 25 Aug 2017 16:48:07
I would Karius a chance first cos he never got a really good crack of the whip as people were rooting for him to fail and as soon as he made a mistake, the "fans" turned on him. Ward is still inexperienced altho very talented, like Karius. Migs should never have been kept and Karius should have been kept in goal so he can learn and progress and if he is not the one, at least we would have known. Right now, we don't even know if karius is the answer.

2.) 25 Aug 2017 16:50:03
Nice one square how's joe getting on.

3.) 25 Aug 2017 16:46:24
Thanks ST always appreciate the input. How's Gomez doing? and what's the plans with him does he know? Assuming clyney becomes back up to TAA!

4.) 25 Aug 2017 18:26:39
Love to see your posts ST, glad to hear the squad isn't getting involved in the Coutinho saga hopefully they all crack on and perform. I agree with you about Ward I think he deserves a shot he had a great half a season at Aberdeen which Klopp ruined by calling him back followed by a great season at Huddersfield. I'd be happy to see Joe and TAA share RB duties this season and Joe getting a crack at CB in the cups both are looking sharp. Hope your right about Firmino looking to extend his stay he is the vital cog in the team.

18 Aug 2017 18:58:08
It's really is going to be a mad end to the window!

Square tomato

1.) 18 Aug 2017 19:47:01
You heard anything ST? Hope Gomez will stay. He'll get his chance this year. No way matip or lovren will stay fit all year haha.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 21:08:13
Not much since what I said about clyne.

12 Aug 2017 09:33:55
It's weird how good Barcelona are, yet none of there players really interest me rather be dealing with Real Madrid.

Square tomato

1.) 12 Aug 2017 09:52:21
That's only because you know that their best players aren't available.
Messi, Suarez, Pique, Rakitic, Jordi Alba would interest me if I thought we could get anywhere near them.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 09:58:46
Barcelona have been in a very transitional period. In defense they've really never replaced puyol in midfield they've struggled to replace Xavi and Iniesta through injury has not been the same player in the last 18 months. Any Liverpool fans that feel we get a lot of our transfer dealings wrong should take a look at what barcelona have bought in the last 5 years bar the odd exception like Neymar Suarez alba they're has been a lot of wasted money there.

3.) 12 Aug 2017 10:03:39
Because behind a truly elite front two (was three), their squad isn't that good. Iniesta was a great player even as recently as 2014, but no longer, and the rest of them are either poor buys or have become used to the front three annihilating opposition by themselves.

4.) 12 Aug 2017 10:04:43
For me they have a handful of world class players, and then a pretty average squad.

Messi is different class, and I'd take him in a straight swap for Couts. Never happening so not worth asking.
Suarez is world class but I'd steer clear after his behaviour last time.
Iniesta is world class but his legs are going. He would be very good as a Gary Mac-esque signing though.
Pique is world class but he is an ex Manc and he needs to stay off social media.
Busquets is top class but his antics annoy the hell out of me and he plays in our captains position.
Alba is top class but we have just signed a left back.
Sergi Roberto is top class and I'd take him no questions asked.
Mascherano is a good player but like Suarez, left in disgrace.
Rakitic is a good player but many seem to think his legs have gone or are going.
Turan is a good player and an LFC fan, but he is really injury prone.
Umtiti is a good player who I would take.
Ter Stegen is a good player who I would take.
Gomes is a decent player, but Can is better.
Munir is a decent player, but Solanke is better.
Denis Suarez is a decent player, but Lallana is better.

I think I'd ask for Sergi Roberto, Umtiti, Iniesta or Ter Stegen (knowing full well the answer is probably a flat no) and if they do say no, I'd want full cash up front. Any of their other players (Messi aside) would just be settling out of panic.

5.) 12 Aug 2017 10:53:39
I agree with you MK in that we should ask for Sergi Roberto. Brilliant player and he's still relatively young.

09 Aug 2017 17:41:31
Do you guys think gini should be a regular starter?

Square tomato

1.) 09 Aug 2017 17:58:20
Not for me. My midfield would be Henderson, Lallana and Couts.

2.) 09 Aug 2017 18:08:40
Hendo gini couts is who I'd play in the big games. It's close between him and can but gini seems more consistent, less error prone and more likely to come up with a big goal he also does a lot of dirty work that goes unnoticed. However I think can has more potential if given game time. He has special moments in him that with added consistency in his performances could lead him to becoming a top class cm.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 18:18:43
good question square tomato, i must say i really like gini.

if im honest, only hendo (based on last season's performance, could change if he needs time to get back to his best) and coutinho must start when fit.

i am torn between can, lallana and gini for the 3rd cm. of course IF he who must not be named joins, then atleast 1 of our midfield will most likely leave.

gini is worthy of a starter, probably not regular. id have him for the smaller games as lallana tends to go missing in these games.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 18:21:57
Without a doubt Gini should be starting 25-30 games a season across all competitions.

Short memories people have. Gini was our go to man in the big games when nobody else turned up. Crucial goals against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City ultimately made the difference in us qualifying for Champions league. I think against the weak defensive sides (Stoke, West Brom, Southampton, Brighton, Huddersfield, Burnley, Newcastle etc) we could afford to trade him out of the line up for a player like Sturridge or Solanke as we don't need Gini's solidity in games we should walk. We need a man in the box to bury our chances.

For me though, he starts every league game against the top 8 at least, as well as any European games against the powerhouses of European football.

It is a squad game nowadays though and I'd sacrifice him for a striker in games against more compact sides that we struggle to break down historically. He is great playing box to box (which is why big sides struggle to cope with him as they tend to have less physical midfielders and/ or play more expansively), he doesn't really have that bit of magic to break down a deep defence. I think that may be why we want NK again with Coutinho leaving. One thing I have noticed about NK is a lot of his goals are scored when the opposition are camped in their own area because he has a fearless attitude to just run at people and bundle his way through. Different to Coutinhos masterful long shots; but almost as effective.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 18:26:20
Moot question at the moment, Lamb Banana is injured.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 18:56:32
henderson, keita and firmino (assumption coutinho out)

7.) 09 Aug 2017 18:59:55
The amount of games we having coming up we will have to rotate so yeah gini will prob start a lot of games.

8.) 09 Aug 2017 19:03:00
Hendo wouldn't start in my strongest 11 midfield. Think it would be Count, Can and Wijnaldum. People say we missed Hendo last season but we didn't miss him when we played well Aug-Dec and against the other top 6 midfielders. A lot of the games we lost was from poor finishing and individual errors for goals. Not sure he would have effected that.

{Ed001's Note - when we played well he was in the team, so why would we miss him then? What a bizarre post and so typical of the kind of crap used to get at one of our better players.}

9.) 09 Aug 2017 19:44:25
Overreaction overload. Just for saying Hendo wouldn't get in my starting 11 (only an opinion) Reminds me of the kid who says it's his ball and he's taking it home.

10.) 09 Aug 2017 19:45:26
Amazed at how many "fans" out there are so ignorant to work Hendo actually does when playing. Two reasons we lost out on winning the league under Brenda, Brenda's inexpierance against Chelsea when all we had to do was Park our own bus and the loss of Henderson for the last few games. When he plays we tick over, his work goes largely unnoticed until he's not there. To rate Can over Hendo is frankly backward. Bruno Cheyrou scored a few spectacler goals and had a lot of promise, much like Can actually🤔🤔.

11.) 09 Aug 2017 19:53:00
So if Hendo plays this season we win the league Molby. Is that what you're saying? It's my opinion nothing to do with you. Don't be a sheep and just follow. Think for yourself.

12.) 09 Aug 2017 20:24:00
Very interesting, cheers for the responses lads.

13.) 09 Aug 2017 20:29:44
neither can or henderson are good enough to be honest. henderson is more consistent but his ceiling is so low. he is perfect when playing attacking teams because he closes down and breaks up play but when we play defensive sides he offers absolutely nothing. he can only pass sideways or backwards and his touch and weight of pass is not good enough to break teams down. prime example was his performance against athletico madrid. just because he is our captain it does not mean he should be starting a la wayne rooney. imo against the deeper teams our mid 3 should be phil lallana gini and swap keita for lallana if we get him.

14.) 09 Aug 2017 20:51:56
Woaaa there guys calm down! ;-) For me Hendo is probably the most important player we have. Not flashy or eye catching but preseason showed me just how many counter attacks he nips in the bud before they've started just by his anticipation and willingness to cover the ground. He also looks for quick first time passes switching play which creates space against sides that park the bus. With Salah and Mane running in behind I expect him to get more assists this season too. Massively underrated player for me and a great captain too.

15.) 09 Aug 2017 20:26:46
We lost six games in 2013/ 14. Henderson played in five of them. Make of that what you want. For those who think they can see why he is so special, you're on your own cos i haven't heard any offers for him since he joined us. He's an average player and in some teams, that's enough. We had average players in the great sides of the 80's.
If barcelona were offering 80m for him, he'd be carried to spain.

16.) 10 Aug 2017 11:06:28
There would be about 60 games and everyone would get fair chances. Our injury records is frightening!

17 May 2017 10:29:43
Apologies if this had been asked before but if we do finish 4th what stage of the qualifiers will we enter?

Square tomato

{Ed002's Note - Play off round.}

1.) 17 May 2017 13:51:59
Square. Do you have any news on Joe and possibly leaving us mate?

2.) 17 May 2017 15:16:18
Thanks ed002 and last I was told was he'll be pushing lovren next season but I'll try and get an update.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

Nothing's changed really but It's all a bit tight lipped at the moment all the players basically told to shut up, happy to see solanke there they've been mates for ages, been saying for months about TAA how much klopp likes him and I think he'll take clynes place, sooner or later and yet another new contract backs that up.
