Probably not news, but I think Ings is off in the summer.

Square tomato

1.) 19 Feb 2018 08:29:46
All the best to him. So very unlucky, hopefully he'll find a home somewhere and be back to his best.

2.) 19 Feb 2018 09:20:19
The poor bugger, I really feel for Ings, he's had nothing but bad luck since joining. If this is true then I wish him all the best, I hope it's not though, I still think he has something to offer.

3.) 19 Feb 2018 10:47:39
Not surprised. He needs to go for his own career. We don’t play with any out and out striker or poacher. So like Sturridge, Ings and Solanke has any future at the club! I love the lad myself and his attitude has been fantastic but unfortunately the team is moving to another direction. Best wishes for him!

4.) 19 Feb 2018 10:49:29
Seems likely, at his age he's never unlikely develop into a first team player for us now and should still be wanting to play every game. If he does, good luck to him.

5.) 19 Feb 2018 12:46:41
Lets hope he can at least pick up a CL medal.

6.) 19 Feb 2018 13:24:02
That's interesting but it suggests we'll be bidding for a back up striker in the summer. I wonder who's on the short list.

7.) 19 Feb 2018 13:41:09
Amzoun from Rubin Kazan maybe, Luan is another one maybe.

8.) 19 Feb 2018 14:19:53
I hope we don't buy a striker. We don’t play with one! Why buy a back up? Couple of wide forwards who could play anywhere across the front three!

9.) 19 Feb 2018 15:13:29
Square Tomato, great to hear from you.
I just saw an interview with Klopp discussing ings and although the media outlet interpreted that Klopp implied he is in his long term plans, I couldn't help but feel the opposite. Be a shame as I think he's a good back up, notably his attitude which is vital in a back up role. But at the same time I'd love for him to be able to crack on in his career!

10.) 19 Feb 2018 16:35:05
Send him back to Burnley and call off the tribunal 😄.

11.) 19 Feb 2018 18:41:15
Newcastle if they stay up.

12.) 19 Feb 2018 19:26:09
Evening Square Tomato hope your ok mate
just wanted to know (as you seem to have your ear to the ground squad wise) who in your opinion would you say Klopp sees as number 1 left back out of our current two Moreno and Robertson
cheers in advance mate.

13.) 19 Feb 2018 20:05:02
Hard to answer Johncrow sorry, don’t wanna just make stuff up all I know is klopp really admires Morenos tenacity to not give up on making LB is own, he had plenty of chances to leave last summer which would have been the easy option.

14.) 19 Feb 2018 22:16:02
Can I ask why you think he’s off?

15.) 20 Feb 2018 00:58:44
Shame. Seems to have a great mentality. Hope his injuries won't hamper his progress.

16.) 21 Feb 2018 11:09:30
Klopp always play with a striker. It just happens that it's Firmino.

20 Apr 2017 19:34:15
Evening all, I doubt Joe Gomez will play again this season ( he'll probably start against palace now and make me look stupid) apart from maybe a cameo now and then, Klopp wants him to have a proper pre season, he's a big part of the plans going forward he'll be pushing lovren and be ahead of Klavan from what I can gather, sturridge looking likely to leave which seems to be common knowledge right now not that he particularly wants too, also Klopp really wants TAA to be a regular 1st team player next season not sure what that means for Clyne but I just know Klopp wants Trent in the team, it could mean nothing as we know he's very versatile.

Square tomato

1.) 20 Apr 2017 20:10:20
Always good to hear your in ST.

2.) 20 Apr 2017 22:17:35
Thanks for the info.

3.) 20 Apr 2017 23:35:51
Boss thanks la.

4.) 21 Apr 2017 02:37:17
I think TAA would make a good RM/ RW. best crosser of the ball I've seen in a Liverpool shirt for a long time. Once players like origi get used to where he is going to put the ball it could be a deadly move. Or maybe klopp is thinking 532 which in my opinion would suit TAA more than clyne.

5.) 21 Apr 2017 04:33:44
TAA is so important to the future of the club but also the future of Klopp. By bringing players like TAA through the ranks it allows Klopp to really build HIS team in his mould and allow him also to say "look at the players I've brought through". There is big focus on this at all clubs but when top clubs can do it, its huge.

6.) 21 Apr 2017 08:26:47
Cheers for the info squareT send Joe our best as always and again thank you for the info much appreciated and great to hear about Joe and Trent.

7.) 21 Apr 2017 11:26:34
Does anyone else see us playing 3 at the back next season

Matip lovren Gomez or hopefully VVD that would be a dre

TAA would be perfect for the Rwb position- Klopp ready said he needs to work on the defending side so playing 3 at the back would allow him to push forward.

Milner and hopefully the Fulham kid also are better attacking.

Hendo Gini can can fight it out for the cm postion

Coutinho postion would not change because he likes to play inside.

Mane can play the other side

Lallana can play any of them 2 postion

Firmino and Origi can also fight it out.

8.) 21 Apr 2017 11:57:32
I think Klopp will continue to play the 4-3-3 but I've noticed that against sides that set a low block and aim to hit on the break, our deep midfielder is increasingly sitting almost between the CBs to create a defacto 3-4-3 and provide a bit more protection against the counterattack.

In more balanced games where possession is 50/ 50 and play frequently switches between attack and defense, he seems to use the high press more and keeps the 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1 shape to cut down the space.

9.) 21 Apr 2017 15:02:59
Cheers Square Tomato, Surely Gomez will play against Palace seens as all other defenders are injured mate?

10.) 21 Apr 2017 15:20:07
Big game for the lad.
Klopp has said he's been the complete package in training for the last few weeks.
He may know some of Benteke's tricks from earlier training sessions.

I hope Migs and Lovren help and not hinder the lad.

11.) 21 Apr 2017 15:21:34
i would think sturridge wants to play, and he has every right to leave to seek for first team opportunities if he's not getting it here.

ive seen players come ago, and i feel like he genuinely loves the club.

12.) 23 Apr 2017 12:52:10
The thing is that the lad is never fit for long enough to warrant first team opportunities
It must be hard for any manager to plan a team around Sturridge.
The lad has ability by the bucket load but needs a less intense league.

01 Apr 2017 09:24:34
speaking to Joe Gomez last night and he said Milner has been training as a CB for next season as he sees it as the only way to get TAA in the team without dropping Clyne and Milner, seems odd to me though.

Square tomato

1.) 01 Apr 2017 09:49:11
That is really really odd. The idea is to put TAA as a leftback? Or Clyne is? But Milner as a centreback? If he can pulls it off, he will be one hell of a player, playing in almost every positions there is. But I personally prefers a tall centre back.

2.) 01 Apr 2017 09:53:14
Milner a CB? If we are planning on shipping more goals then let it be. That would be the most mind boggling situation ever.

3.) 01 Apr 2017 09:59:31
Aprils fools :D.

4.) 01 Apr 2017 10:06:23
Haha I forgot it's the 1st of April.

5.) 01 Apr 2017 10:18:47
Ha ha. Clearly caught me.

6.) 01 Apr 2017 12:49:09
ST you are one of the few posters on here genuinely in the know. Just remember mate, with great power, comes great responsibility.

7.) 01 Apr 2017 13:15:20
Well played ST.

8.) 01 Apr 2017 13:20:25
This is a real possible scenario. We aren't buying any new CB while the club has not shown any intention to offload Clyne as far now. So where would TAA play?

9.) 01 Apr 2017 20:10:25
Put him in the nets 🤠.

10.) 03 Apr 2017 15:42:20
That's a joke, right SQ?

06 Jun 2016 11:28:03
All I know is Klopp wants to keep Joe and have 4 CBs in Lovren matip sakho and Gomez skrtel and toure are expected to leave I keep seeing him being mentioned as a fullback and although he can play there he's seen as a central defender, he's not interested in any loan and wants to stay at Liverpool, the plan is for him to play against Barcelona, that could change.

Square tomato

1.) 06 Jun 2016 12:02:56
Cheers bud.

2.) 06 Jun 2016 12:08:56
Appreciate the info ST, cheers.

3.) 06 Jun 2016 11:40:51
Good news, Square! I also think he should be given a chance as a 4th CB, esp since he has the versatility to cover the flanks. How is his recovery progressing?

4.) 06 Jun 2016 11:54:33
Cheers Mr. T

Keep us updated :)

5.) 06 Jun 2016 12:28:45
Thanks a million ST. What is Joe's preferred position mate?

6.) 06 Jun 2016 14:36:50
As always Square. Appreciate the update.

7.) 06 Jun 2016 14:40:53
Thank you sir for the update on young Joe.

8.) 06 Jun 2016 14:51:26
Cheers Mr tomato greatly appreciated as always, it might be in you name but I would say you are certainly no square slugger.

9.) 06 Jun 2016 12:10:54
I thought Toure had been offered a 1 year extension? Is he now leaving?

10.) 06 Jun 2016 12:17:27
Finally we can put an end to the nonsense that he will struggle under klopp etc.

11.) 06 Jun 2016 23:07:23
Great stuff. I wanted the lad to get a chance.

12.) 07 Jun 2016 11:40:12
Best post on here for a while :) also would suggest something unexpected with the sakho verdict we won't be signing another cb think that could be a good thing and reevaluate then in January :) cheers ST!

13.) 08 Jun 2016 08:26:22
Excellent news, the way he coped with being out of position at such a young age at a tough time showed he has the mental strength and team ethic. He is a good CB so hopefully he can develop over next 2-3 years into the main one.

23 Mar 2016 17:13:57
Ed002 seems you was correct about us perhaps watching bellarabi, reports in Italy saying inter and others have stepped back due to "formidable" competition from Liverpool.

Square tomato

1.) 23 Mar 2016 18:01:33
Ive read he has a low release clause, but that won't make a difference as we paid double firminos release clause.

2.) 23 Mar 2016 19:42:11
Wasn't Firminos release clause only applicable to other German clubs?

3.) 23 Mar 2016 20:02:17
That's correct DecG.

4.) 24 Mar 2016 04:30:21
I'm sure ed002 said that Firmino had a *buyout* clause, not a release clause.

5.) 24 Mar 2016 14:24:53
Why all the disagree clicks? Go and search for yourselves.

6.) 24 Mar 2016 15:51:11

7.) 25 Mar 2016 00:05:59
mate, these people are the equivalent of computer viruses.

8.) 26 Mar 2016 00:01:28
Whatever Firmino's clause, he was a steal!

15 Feb 2018 07:29:08
What a stunning performance, credit to everyone, exactly what Mane needed hopefully he gets back to his clinical best, Firmino was always our most important player anyway but I think he's really going to show that even more without Phil here, we go again!

Square tomato

1.) 15 Feb 2018 07:57:36
Firmino's flick in the build up to Mane's second was my moment of the match. I don't care what others say anymore, he's world class for me.

21 goals already and his overall game is ahead of anyone else in the Prem except De Bruyne in my opinion.

Mane was fantastic though clinical, ruthless efficiency. 4 shots and 3 goals!

Salah's goal was just sheer arrogance and composure. Loved it.

2.) 15 Feb 2018 08:02:55
I thought Milner and Henderson played well. I was never a huge Henderson fan but yesterday’s game was a good place to measure his intelligence first 15/ 20 Porto seemed to control and Henderson dropped deeper and things started to change. He may not ping 40 yes balls or score like Stevie G but he is a very intelligent player.

3.) 15 Feb 2018 08:19:48
I can't remember which goal it was, but did anyone else notice Henderson going up to each player after the goal and encouraging them and spurring them on?

Real captains display from him. It always baffles me when people question what he gives to the team.

Red Sandman.

4.) 15 Feb 2018 08:59:56
Impressed with the Van Dijk/ Lovren partnership so far also.

5.) 15 Feb 2018 09:12:48
Absolutely MK, he is world class there's no doubt about it mate and he's better without Coutinho, how funny is that? in my opinion he is anyway, he, Mane and Salah looked absolutely brutal last night, long may it continue but the most important player in our team is Firmino, he's something different.

6.) 15 Feb 2018 09:44:07
I think Firmino leaving would devastate me more than when Torres left. And bear in mind i was 15 and he was my hero when Torres left.

Firmino is everything you want in a player. Hard work, aggression, skill, goals, creativity, pace, power, commitment and magic.

If i caught him in bed with my Mrs, I'd offer him a cup of tea and a bacon roll.

{Ed001's Note - and check the heating is on as you wouldn't want him catching a cold.}

7.) 15 Feb 2018 10:33:07
LOL, MK. If I had to pick who we would sell btw Salah and Bobbie, I would gladly let Salah go cos we can survive w/ o Salah or Cou. Not sure there is a CF out there, who can replace Bobbie and ALL the things he does for us. In fact, scratch that. There is NO CF that can do what Bobbie does at the rate and levels that he does it right now in Europe. He is THE glue of the team. He is the unsong leader of the forward line. Bobbie is only underrated to those who like stats and all. He is not, to hose who know their football. Don't as k me. Ed01 once said that Pep LOVES Firmino. I guess he's clueless about footie as well right?

8.) 15 Feb 2018 10:53:15
I'd give him the remote to the thermostat! Hell if he wants a poached egg on his roll, that's fine. Need a pee? Where my slippers mate, so you don't slip on the laminate.

I'll even pop round the local hardware store and get a house key cut for him, so if he visits again he doesn't habe to wait fir my other half to open the door in the rain.

I'll even put him on my car insurance with his drink driving felony likely to triple the premium!

{Ed001's Note - wait, what? You have a remote for your thermostat? Bloody hell, how posh are you?}

9.) 15 Feb 2018 11:08:09
My heating is electric Ed 😂 gas was costing me £210 a month in the winter because there was no roof insulation (i don't have an attic) . So i got an Siemens air conditioning / heating unit installed which recycles the hot air as it rises and blows it back down to the floor. Gas is continuously fighting the heat it loses, and the electric unit was cheaper than re-roofing the whole place! It's reduced my heating bill to £60 a month! Bobby can set the heat to 30 degrees and use £20 a day if he wants though.

It looks posh, but it's actually cheaper long term 😉 it's kind of cool though because I've also synced it to my phone so i can turn it down from work when the Mrs is taking the micky 😂.

{Ed001's Note - erm. I have no idea what you are talking about. It sounds very geeky though.}

10.) 15 Feb 2018 11:47:34
Ed033 understands me 😭💔.

11.) 15 Feb 2018 11:49:06
You can get a bath now Adam with an app so you can remotely run bobby a nice hot bath to share with your Mrs for when your out getting his paper. 👍😂.

12.) 15 Feb 2018 12:59:53
MK - those two are on their own pedestal as the PL biggest attacking talents certainly.

15 Jan 2018 12:49:20
Great review of the game ed001 agree with it all good point on Lovren making a case to partner vvd if it wasn't for the glaring mistake it'd probably be him, how good is Firmino? Our most important player and had been for ages I'm getting less and less surprised with his performances, seems to play every game like it's a cup final I love him! Hope he gets the new contract he's wanted for ages.

Square tomato

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate and fully agree, tie Bobby down with a new deal as he deserves it.}

1.) 15 Jan 2018 13:30:22
My favorite player since Gerrard. going to buy a F9 kit.

2.) 15 Jan 2018 17:31:50
Lovren shouldn't be anywhere near that team, he was majorly at fault for City's second and third goals and is constantly an accident waiting to happen. I can't believe people absolve him from criticism because of off the field issues, even suggesting giving him player of the month again. What if mignolet or karius have/ had off the field issues would you afford them the same leniency?

11 Jan 2018 11:01:15
Yes Macca, thanks for sharing! It won't be who I want but just glad we're pushing for something big.

Square tomato

1.) 11 Jan 2018 11:36:30
something big?! Hmmmmmmm

Tttttteeeelllll mmmmmeeeee!

2.) 11 Jan 2018 11:40:14
You just need to accept that we are never going to sign Rectangle Potato.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 11:40:52
Square mate I'd say Joe is enjoying life in the first team? Anyway tell him we are all delighted it's working out for him.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 11:42:53
It's felani he's stolen ed25s voodoo doll from Everton!

5.) 11 Jan 2018 12:21:16
I just love how specific he is.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 13:43:29
Cheers Barry, he is very happy right now.

09 Jan 2018 10:23:23
Just a trivial question for Ed's and posters away from the transfer talk, who is the best captain you've seen? Can be from any team, mine is Carlos Puyol, a true warrior and an amazing leader, someone who looked after his teammates a credit to the game. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts!

Square tomato

{Ed002's Note - Puyol is a good proposal but it is difficult to compare across the years and from team-to-team. Deschamps is bright, a winner and an organiser. Beckenbaeur is generally regarded as one of the best captains but he has the habit of rubbing people up the wrong way. In England Bobby Moore has the respect of many. Baresi, Totti and Maldini in Italy, Lev Yashin of course is another who would need to be considered. Tough to put one up there as first pick.}

1.) 09 Jan 2018 10:52:05
Emlyn Hughes and Graeme Souness.

2.) 09 Jan 2018 10:52:45
I know it won't be popular on here, but Roy Keane was a fantastic captain. A useless footballer, but the best captain in Premier League history in my opinion.

Shout out for Phillip Lahm as well. He was brilliant and didn't need to resort to thuggery to compete as a player either.

3.) 09 Jan 2018 11:06:10
Souness all day long. Ask Hansen and Lawrenson what if was like having a midfielder that could shield them defensively and put the fear of god into the opposition. His team mates felt ten feet tall going into shy game he was that influential. Greatest all round centre midfielder ever.

4.) 09 Jan 2018 11:27:20
Lahm, Maldini, Puyol.

5.) 09 Jan 2018 11:38:54
Birdseye.

6.) 09 Jan 2018 11:41:57
Has to be John Terry, you just have to look at the effect he had on his teammates and their wives. 😀.

{Ed002's Note - Whose wife would that be?}

7.) 09 Jan 2018 12:00:59
Ed002 Wayne Bridge? Or was she just his girlfriend at the time?

{Ed002's Note - It was an ex-girlfriend of Wayne Bridge (and of many other Chelsea players).

8.) 09 Jan 2018 13:03:49
Deschamps for me but MK makes a great point, Keane, though I don't like him, not one bit, he was a great captain, credit where due.

9.) 09 Jan 2018 13:22:14
Roy Keane a useless footballer? Tell that to Ferguson who spent a record fee at the time, and to Kenny who nearly signed him for Blackburn. While not the most gifted he was far from useless.

If he was in the England team instead of the Irish team, he'd be the worlds best.

He knows his stuff! Bailey is explosive and has intelligence that a lot of young players lack I’ve noticed, felt like we missed a trick when he went to Bayer love Timo too lighting quick personally reminds me of a young Torres.

The way I see it he’s made the same error Twice and the one against Arsenal I’d definitely blame mignolet for! Joe is young and learning and I know people will give him a chance, he’ll make more mistakes no doubt but he’s very highly rate and has played along the whole back four what other defender at lfc has done that this season? He turned down his boyhood club to come to Liverpool, and other teams would take him very quickly I know for a fact, but he wants to be here and he’ll get better and better.
