Hi Eds, I know you mentioned a while back that Brandt might want assurances about a game time and recently it has been reported publicly too. I was wondering (and it might be a bit of stretch) if Klopp talking openly about Coutinho dropping deeper in future might have been a way of making space within the starting XI for Brandt?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - No, it would make no difference. If Klopp wants to persuade Brandt he needs to get permission to talk to the player from his club, or perhaps tell his agent, that he will be first choice at Liverpool. With Douglas Costa's situation unresolved Bayern Munich could again look to Brandt, and if Costa moves, then they will be able to assure him of plenty of game time as Ribery sees out his last season. Else he will likely bide his time unless Spurs come calling.}

1.) 16 May 2017 14:52:39
With this in mind ed is Luan being looked at instead of Brandt or not really related?

{Ed002's Note - Unrelated - Luan is a striker and would be a replacement for someone like Sturridge.}

2.) 16 May 2017 16:05:39
I read today in a German publication that Brandt has decided too leave Leverkusen because of them missing out on Champions League?

3.) 16 May 2017 16:13:46
Ok mate fair enough, I read that he could play LW thought he might have been an alternative. You think Studge might be making thr club think twice about selling him after his cameo at the weekend?

{Ed002's Note - It would be playing him out of position.

The club has been sustained in their quest for a centre forward and it is likely they will continue. If Sturridge stays it has to be considered a risk based upon his availability in recent years.}

4.) 16 May 2017 17:07:03
Thanks for the reply Ed. Just found the timing of it a bit strange, I was probably just reading into it too much.

Personally I think another wide is vital for us next season, not to compete with Mane but to compliment him on the opposite side. It just gives Klopp more options and flexibility as we've looked blunt and one dimensional at times when Mane has been missing.

{Ed002's Note - That is why Klopp wants Brandt.}

5.) 16 May 2017 17:45:16
With Dembele and Azmoun not happening. Is there anyone else new that we are now lucking at mate, or have you mentioned them previously?

{Ed002's Note - None beyond those discussed as far as I am aware.}

6.) 16 May 2017 19:02:29
Ok mate cheers. I would be happy with Luan, I think he will link up well with Couts and Bobby. Will see.

7.) 16 May 2017 19:13:52
Hi Edo2

Re. Brandt, despite the player's concerns, do you feel that a reasonable a chance of a deal being done still remains? In your view, should LFC persist?

Could you see Klopp soon drawing the line on this one and moving on?
If so, what viable alternatives are there/ been looked at?

Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - In order to happen the player needs to drop his demand or Liverpool need to offer a guarantee - which they have done in the past and Klopp has been happy to announce his number one pick in some cases. He is the player Liverpool want, Bayern's interest may also return. Alternatives have been looked at as was explained in the Sharkopod.}

8.) 16 May 2017 19:56:33
It cracks me up Ed002.Players requesting guaranteed playing time.

Will these same players be seeking assurances if they get injured 🙄🙄🙄.

{Ed002's Note - It has become a very common thing - most clubs don't entertain it.}

9.) 16 May 2017 20:13:19
a previous user debated ....................

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what your problem is. I have explained all the way along about Liverpool wanting a left winger and I have explained over and over again the situation with Brandt - and I have said other who the club have been looking at. You would perhaps do better simply going elsewhere.}

10.) 16 May 2017 20:29:07
It's not just football clubs Ed002.

When it comes to Liverpool away, I ask my missus for permission/ playing time. She doesn't entertain it lol . Apparently the 19 home games are enough for me these days, my three year old son probably makes it a plausible.

Mind you, I managed to wangle West Ham away at the weekend, the meeting in London Monday morning did trick
😎😎.

Hi Eds.

Can you give any insight to what wide players we're tracking/ pursuing? I've seen few mentioned, Rafa Silva being the only player I can remember. Volland mainly in passing as Ed001 said was just an 'example'. Dembele who was never really realistic and both have now moved on anyway.

I've followed the posts and have seen wide areas mentioned as a priority but can't find names to players we're interested in.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - It shouldn't be difficult to find a previous summary, but Praet is of interest to Klopp but I still expect him to move to Sevilla, Georges-Kevin N'Koudou of Marseille has been looked at as has Gokhan Tore (but he is heading elsewhere) and Lucas Moura (bit of a flake, expensive and unlikely). Everything seems quiet with Rafik Zekhnini, Andrija Zivkovic and Davor Lovren who have been of interest. Liverpool is one of many sides with a declared interest in Anwar El Ghazi and he is a player I expect we will hear more of during the transfer window. Sofiane Feghouli was apparently speculatively considered - I could never confirm that but I expect him to head elsewhere and confirmation of that to be made very soon. Deportivo's Lucas Perez was scouted but is in talks with another EPL side - but is awaiting an approach from a Champions League side I understand - a career to will drift off in to the shadows. Karim Bellarabi has been watched by Liverpool - and many others.}

1.) 30 May 2016 18:43:49
Like j said the other day, I would really like us to consolidate out interest in Karim Bellarabi with a bid.

He's experienced, effective and proven. I don't know how much Bayer would want for him and we can't offer European football but if a deal can be done then we should do it.

{Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen are keen for him to stay and I expect he will.

2.) 30 May 2016 18:49:43
Fair enough then Ed. Thank you for your input.

3.) 30 May 2016 18:57:35
Anwar El Ghazi looks a good prospect.

4.) 30 May 2016 20:57:34
Hasnt zivkovic joined Benfica as Gaitans replacement.

{Ed002's Note - It has yet to be ratified but the expectation is that it will go through during July. There are some complex ownership issues involving Pini Zahivi needing to be resolved first - but excpectation is that they can be.}

5.) 31 May 2016 02:12:31
Fosberg the swedish winger is good prospect too.

Hi Eds,

I'm just wondering if we've been looking at anyone in the right back position? I know we have a few but;

Johnson - Looks certain to leave
Flanagan - Hasn't been offered a deal has he?
Wisdom - Can't get a game at WBA
Manquillo - Only on loan

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that Manquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.}

1.) 30 Apr 2015 18:44:55
Flanno out for another nine months hearing today so right back has to be a priority this summer. Assuming that Ryan McLaughlin is deemed not ready to step up?

{Ed002's Note - Wisdom, Manquillo, Can has been playing there, Rodgers may use Ibe as a wing back next season. There are much higher priorities.}

16 Jan 2015 17:05:51
Do any of you Eds know anything about interest in a Spanish based player? Nothing solid but someone (not twitter) has said Ayre is in Madrid today.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 16 Jan 2015 23:14:24
Torres must be coming back lol.

2.) 16 Jan 2015 23:41:09
A representative of liverpool has flown out to spain and is only a half hour away from where dortmund are training. I think it could be to do with klopp highly doubt it would be reus or hummels, maybe mhiktaryan

3.) Lots of sightings of Ayre in Madrid today. He's there for sure. Eds, can you do some digging?

4.) 17 Jan 2015 00:00:19
Arbeloa. We need a 12th right back and he's the one

5.) 17 Jan 2015 08:31:29
Any ideas Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Maybe he is there to complete the deal for long term target Kevin Gameiro?}

Hi Eds.

Just wondering do you see us doing much more business in terms of incoming players? Amavi/ Chillwell aside.

I ask because of the size of our squad and the lack of games we'll be playing next year. I understand we are looking to move on a fair few players on and rightly so. Papers/ media will clickbait til deadline day so I wanted your input as its usually dead on the money.

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - read the posts.}

Hi Eds, I asked this question on Sunday but it didn't appear for some reason. I know Benteke is out of favour right now, he's been a predictable disaster by all accounts. Do you think the club will persist with him or cut our loses and move him on if possible?

I would say he'll get to the end of the season to see how he does but with Sturridge and Origi returning and him already behind Firmino his chances may be limited.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - TRy the search engine for Benteke please.}

1.) 16 Feb 2016 18:58:52
Dont forget Danny Ings.

14 Feb 2016 15:35:35
Hi eds

I know today's game is just one in isolation and we're off the back of going to extra time mid week. But it seems as good a time as any to ask about Benteke? He isn't a good fit and it really hasn't worked out, do you see us persisting with him or trying to move him on come the summer?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will move in the summer if the club don't price him out of it.}

1.) 14 Feb 2016 16:15:44
Sorry in advance Ed002, as I know you hate talking about money. However, what price range would we need to accept for their to be interested suitors for Benteke? IMO, we would get offers at around £15-£20m but not much more.

Thanks

Z.

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea Z. I don't want to get in to detail now but it would take a little something extra to get Benteke sold this summer.}

Hi Eds.

I was wondering if you could shed some light on the future of some of our under performing players?

It looks like we're taking steps to replace Mignolet, he's been poor in fairness but Lovren as been our worst performer. Do the club plan on sticking with him?

Also do you think the club will have a bit of clear out over the next couple of windows?

Also ED001. Is there anything in particular from the club Wisdom, Ilori and Ibe in regards to next year or is it too early?

StraightTalk

{Ed001's Note - Lovren has only just arrived, he needs a chance to settle. Yes there will be players moved on, if possible. Too early with regards those 3.}

1.) Lovren was great for Southampton last season and in my opinion a lot of defenders would struggle with a midfield like ours in front of them. Let's wait until the new year to see what our midfield looks like, and I'm sure if we strengthen correctly we will see a much more solid defence.

Desperate? Why?

I haven't followed this too closely and apologies if this is a repeat question.

His attitude during pre-season did seem unprofessional but is there more to it than that?

Thanks for any info as usual ed.

Do you expect the club to attempt a clear out of sorts Ed? We seem to have quite a few players not contributing to the squad, either through lack of quality of managers preference. Balotelli/Lovren being the obvious pair. Gerrard already on his way and the likes of Lambert/Borini/Lucas linked with moves away.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - I have explained over and over.}
