Hello Eds; would Klopp come to LFC without Champions League? Would De Boer?

Personally I'd love to see what Klopp could do if he was to come.

Tactically what is his preferred setup? Is it easily transferable to the EPL?

Thanks.

Thomond1

{Ed001's Note - De Boer would, but not sure about Klopp. Preferred set up? You mean formation? It matters little, if you mean that. If you meant tactically, he favours evolving them to suit the players available, so yes, easily transferable.}

1.) 25 Mar 2015 13:58:05
Thanks.

Hopefully we'll get Klopp. His Dortmund team at its peak was the best team I've seen constructed rather than just outright bought. They were an incredibly well balanced team.

There's no chance of us getting Klopp. Personally I can see Rodgers getting another season, with or without Champions League.

Eds, will any of our better players be the subject of large bids from elsewhere over the Summer? I think we need a settled Summer with 2-3 quality additions only.

Thomond1

{Ed002's Note - Sterling perhaps.}

1.) 02 Mar 2015 19:55:49
Ed2,

What level of club if Sterling was sold, would you see him starting every week at?

None of the top 2 in Spain or Munich at this moment for me, although in a couple of years this could change.

Would he get in the Chelsea team regularly currently ?

{Ed002's Note - Ok, so he is not good enough.}

I have to say that in our 2 biggest games this and last season (being Chelsea and Utd at home) we have been tactically inept. I just cannot fathom how the management team failed to plan for Fellani and also employed the same formation and tactics that Swansea destroyed less than a week previous. I cannot see howthey expected us to win without solving these 2 issues. This isn't a Brendan Rodgers bashing piece; I just cannot see how Marsh, Pascoe, Rodgers et all allowed us to train and prepare for a week for our biggest match of the season without having 2 two obvious standout issues ironed out. What were they working on tactically if not on these??

Clearly you didn't see the table tennis championships or Enrique's Mario Kart challenge, then? Tough work pulling those together.

2.) 23 Mar 2015 00:17:34
JUST Like the champs league and
Europa league
Any team of quality Joe Allen is lost and Henderson is all over the place trying to to two jobs.
Stevie had the decency to apologise and take the blame for the result.
Brendon Rodgers admitted that his midfield did not make a tackle in the first half but no apology from him.
When will he understand that with (fit again) lucas holding allowing stevie to push up with Hendo forcing the closing down and hence causing the opposition to error which gives ths front flair players extra room and the split second extra needed to penetrate.
Rodgers should apologise.
Joe Allen is not fit for purpose.

3.) 23 Mar 2015 06:56:10
Allen has been playing well and lucas was out for well over a month maybe Gerrard could have set it out for longer and lucas come on

{Ed001's Note - when has Allen played well? I keep reading that on here but I have not seen it myself. I just don't get this sudden Allen love in! He has been a passenger and it is no coincidence we have looked a much worse side with him playing. In his first season he played well, since then he has had the odd flash of good play and 89 minutes of running round aimlessly giving the ball away or getting brushed off easily when, on that rare occasion he gets near enough to an opponent, he makes a challenge. I just don't see what he has offered. He is constantly chasing because he is constantly caught out of position ball watching. He tries hard but he is just not suited to us.}

4.) 23 Mar 2015 07:34:52
Good squad player.
His best game this season was against City a few games back.
Awful yesterday though.
Really bad.
But he was not alone there.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but we don't need squad players in our position. All he is doing is stopping players like Rossiter and Williams from breaking through and from Lucas being put straight back into the team as soon as he is fit. His best game was against City, but he wasn't outstanding, and they were truly awful in midfield as they only play one man in there at the moment. Toure seems to have gone AWOL this season. He just strolls around. If he had pockets in his shorts his hands would be in them.}

5.) 23 Mar 2015 08:11:42
Good point Ed on Toure.
A decision has to be made on Allen.
You do need players who are not in the first team every week but can come in and do a job.
I agree that this position should be taken by a youngster though.
I can't get over how poor the midfield was yesterday.
I looked at Carrick and Herrara and thought we'd overrun them.

{Ed001's Note - we might have done if we had not dropped deep so there was no out ball forward.}

Why are we following Lac when we know we can't afford him as is and would get outbid anyway if he came on the free market?

Thomond1

{Ed002's Note - It is not a case of "following" it was a matter of the player having been of interest.}

1.) 10 Mar 2015 11:57:53
Untrue Ed002. I know for a fact Ayre tailed him home and sat in a tree outside his house watching him last night. Definitely having him followed

Just wondering people's thoughts on the best away premiership grounds to travel to to follow the Reds?

Fratton Park - you'll get a lovely warm reception!

05 Mar 2015 09:17:16
Hi Eds; I assume our back 3 system is here to stay is it? And the decision for next season for the club is deciding whether to keep Lovren or integrate Ilori, Wilson, Paez or Wisdom into it?

Thomond1

{Ed001's Note - it depends on the players available and who is making the choices. It is just a formation, it really doesn't have much relevance.}

1.) 05 Mar 2015 10:01:55
Given the current staff and the fact we're expecting more of an "outs" than "ins" Summer and of course assuming BR remains you'd imagine it's likely. If like to see Ilori given a run at some stage. Seems comfortable on the ball and quite fast.

2.) 05 Mar 2015 10:58:32
If you take yesterday's formation, take out Allen, stick Can in his place in midfield, stick sakho in Can's place then that would be my guess for next season.

3.) 05 Mar 2015 11:25:28
Thomo, who is the " Wilson " you refer to, surely you don't mean Danny Wilson who left us several years ago when he signed for Hearts ? Just wondering .

4.) 05 Mar 2015 11:36:37
Why does it have it to be Lovren or the others? Lovren and Ilori should both be given a chance next season. Wilson left 2 seasons ago, while Paez and Wisdom will probably move on. If Brendan (if he stays) wants to persist with a back 3, then all CBs at the club will get a fair chance hopefully.

5.) 05 Mar 2015 11:59:49
Harry Wilson, Welsh. Already has a Welsh cap if I am not mistaken.
Highly rated by the club.
But so many youngsters are now.
Danny Wilson was at Hearts last time I checked.

6.) 05 Mar 2015 12:07:17
Harry Wilson is a winger not a defender

7.) 05 Mar 2015 12:03:17
@Ed001, the only relevance the formation could have would be in whether or not full backs would be required. With Rodgers preferring wingers he hasn't the need for two right backs or two left backs, I don't think anyway.

Johnson and Enrique both out without anyone coming in instead of them is what I mean by that. I think we'd have enough without them anyway even if we were to switch to a flat back four (I hope Flanagan proves his fitness to get a new contract).

{Ed001's Note - but Moreno is a full back, and having full backs allows the team to switch during a match easily from a back three to a back four, so we are not going to do away with them altogether.}

8.) 05 Mar 2015 13:25:26
I don't mean to do away with them I just mean I think we don't need as many of them.

If Johnson goes we would still have plenty who could play RB without signing a replacement for him. I think the same for Enrique going I think we still have enough without the need to go and purchase another LB.

Just wanted to say thanks to the Eds and poster re parking for Man City. What a great game for my sons first visit to Mecca. Credit to the club for the fanzone and Might Red; its a bit rough and ready but it really adds to the day for the young Reds.

Thomond1

{Ed001's Note - glad you had a good time, and what a great choice of game for his first visit!}

Rafa as DofF?

Thomond1

{Ed002's Note - I very much doubt that will happen.}
