Hi Ed002,
is it possible in your opinion that L. Karius will be no 1 for next season or will J. Klopp look for new no 1 goalkeeper whatever happens? I don't think Karius was given a real chance since his arrival and I think he's got the potential to be great. Maybe not many really remember how difficult it was for de Gea at the start. thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool to buy a GK. We already know that the fans has upset Karius once and he will be aware that any dropping of the ball will see that abuse return.}

1.) 04 Mar 2018 12:47:12
Fickle fans let's give the lad a chance.

2.) 04 Mar 2018 13:45:38
Unfortunately what Ed002 has said about some of the fan's is correct. One bad game and they will be on his back, sad but true I'm afraid.

3.) 04 Mar 2018 13:45:53
Hopefully the new goalkeeper is to replace Migs and not Karius.

4.) 04 Mar 2018 13:54:25
Karius has shown a lot of character and aside from the fact that we’ve improved statistically, it is obvious that the defenders trust him more and vice versa. His decision making looks a lot better and he’s looking like the keeper he was in Germany. Ed, I have to say that Karius had worked hard, been patient for his chance, he didn’t whinge or complain, he just got on with it, and when his chance came, he’s taken it, obviously with both hands 😜. He’s doing the basics well, he’s looking calm and assured while pulling off the odd top notch save while he’s at it.

5.) 04 Mar 2018 14:15:00
Personally I think an experienced goalkeeper coming in this summer to replace Mignolet would be best.

Financiallly it makes sense to spend the money elsewhere if we have a capable player already (Karius is showing good signs and should be given until the end of the season to prove himself) .

In that regard a player like Navas or of similar experience to be number 2 would be a good singing in my view.

{Ed001's Note - Mignolet wants to go if he is not first choice.}

6.) 04 Mar 2018 17:51:18
Navas won’t want to come in as number 2, not withstanding the fact that he’s worse than Mignolet,

7.) 04 Mar 2018 18:52:22
Personally I think the fans are right to get on a player's back if he's not performing. It's a results driven business.

8.) 04 Mar 2018 18:53:33
Personally, I'd like to see Ward as the #2 to Karius next year.

9.) 04 Mar 2018 20:18:23
I would love to see Karius develop into a De Gea, in the sense that he was given a chance after early mistakes. But I do believe that he hasn’t been put under huge amounts of pressure yet and the leadership at the back VVD brings has been a positive impact. Time will tell and I back the way Karius has stepped up his game recently.

10.) 04 Mar 2018 20:38:46
I may be in the minority here, I don't know, but I think Karius has massive potential. He seems to get better and his confidence seems stronger with each outing.

11.) 04 Mar 2018 20:43:57
Stone. yes maybe if a player is consistently not pulling his weight. Not in the case of keepers who might have 10, 15, even 20 incident free games then make one mistake leading to a goal and are ripped apart and put down by the press and fans and all of a sudden terrible players.

Especially as every keeper makes mistakes but we personally don't see these in the spotlight as much.

12.) 04 Mar 2018 20:58:58
Shoot my if i'm wrong and this is just an opinion, but is the goalkeeping position improving becasue VVD has come in, barking orders and uplifting/ scaring/ giving confidence to the goalkeeper?

13.) 04 Mar 2018 22:47:33
Think its a combination of them both jammin probably why klopp waited till vvd arrived to slot karius in give him the best chance to make the position his.

14.) 04 Mar 2018 23:48:08
Ya mignolet I'd right to go if he isn't first choice. It will ruin his blossoming international career.

15.) 05 Mar 2018 09:30:51
I know VVD has been vocal and certainly given us much more reliability, especially when dealing with aerial threats, but I do think Karius has played a big part in our defences upturn as well. Karius is reliable, vocal (though he could certainly be more so), he communicates well with his defenders, has good distribution and is predictable in terms of what he is going to do - this helps settle defenders which in turn leads to consistency in performance and a reduction in errors.
I think VVD and Karius have contributed and this has meant the whole back line has looked more settled - Lovren has looked much, much better with VVD next to him and Karius behind him too. The only question marks in my mind are over Matip who still looks away with the fairies every time I see him play - if I were Klopp I'd stick with Lovren/ VVD/ TAA/ Robertson until the end of the season and give Gomez, as opposed to Matip, some run outs at centre back.

Hi Eds,
any news on Sakho? Is he going to leave today? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance he will.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 17:42:49
The WBA chief executive is waiting to hear if Pulis really wants Sakho. Pulis would rather keep Evans, but will take Sakho if he leaves.

Palace are trying to play the "we've moved on" game by using Mangala. Only thing is they don't really want Magala so have only bid £18-20m knowing that city want £25m and Liverpool are unmoved. So far.

23 Jul 2017 16:58:11
Hi Ed 002,
do you think Liverpool will sign Keita and who is pushing so hard for the transfer? The manager or The owners? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - I think it is unlikely as RBL really do not want to break up their side and sell. They have shared this position publically over and over and have made clear to his agent that this is the case.}

1.) 23 Jul 2017 18:23:44
Looks like another bid has been rejected, have you heard anything eds? Some saying this is b. s. Sly saying third bid rejected, others saying 3rd was rejected last week and 4th going in next week. confusing much! Alternatives? Move on I'd say. let's get vvd done.

{Ed002's Note - It is as has been explained over and over.}

2.) 23 Jul 2017 18:38:06
Why are Liverpool seemingly pursuing a lost cause? Surely they must have been given some encouragement that a deal was possible to make multiple bids. Or is it misplaced arrogance?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure how much further they will chase but it will hopefully be another lesson learned at least. His agen may have provided encouragement but by Monday he had been warned off and by mid-week the club were distancing themselves from any meeting in Hong Kong which was by then being reported.}

3.) 23 Jul 2017 18:50:47
Cheers eds.

4.) 23 Jul 2017 19:17:00
Someone obviously doesn't see it as a lost cause. Someone with purse strings. I would have left it weeks ago having the 2nd knock back and the "Hes not for sale" statement.

This is aimed at everyone saying "leave it" and "its a lost cause". do you think Barcelona will leave Couts alone after Klopps similar statement? Because I don't.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect one more offer then they will move on and I suspect this is already known to the player's representative.}

5.) 23 Jul 2017 19:30:15
Do you suspect this last bid to be concidered by Leipzig at all, Ed002? Read some rumours about a huge payment upfront. If true would that perhaps make thrm soften up?

{Ed002's Note - They don't want to sell.}

6.) 23 Jul 2017 19:41:33
ed002 has Keita been training on his own like reports say, if so will him pushing hard for a move in the end make it more of a decision for Leipzig to make a bit like torres did for us?

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know. He was in the team photographs, has been training with the others and changed his Twitter picture or whatever to him kissing (perhaps licking) the RBL badge - just a thought, maybe he was kissing it goodbye?}

7.) 23 Jul 2017 19:48:46
Its really confusing me this, They are rejecting bids and actively saying not for sale, what is making us think anything will change, would the latest offer be considered silly money to get them to sell, or is silly money not even something they would look at.

8.) 23 Jul 2017 19:52:01
I know, as no club wants to sell their best player, but sometimes money talks. Well that do definite end of this story then I assume. To bad, would of been a class signing.

9.) 23 Jul 2017 20:09:11
Silly money is what has already been offered Jay.
If Klopp really wants him I'm sure he will wait and if this rumoured "release clause" kicks in next season we get him well cheaper. That's if he still wants to come this time next year.

10.) 23 Jul 2017 20:24:44
Money may talk but for RBL, I really don't see them budging one bit.
Which I admire, because he's sticking to his gun and isn't being tempted by X amount of €€€, Even if Naby hands in a TR, I stink they they'll wouldn't sell him.

11.) 23 Jul 2017 20:52:03
Suspect a lot of the stories are made up by the media
I don't believe LFC management is so dumb as chase after a lost cause
This is the time for newspapers to make nice profits.

12.) 23 Jul 2017 21:24:10
Although he would be a great addition to the the squad not signing NK is great news as no way will couts be allowed to leave now.

13.) 23 Jul 2017 21:10:02
ED your thoughts please. Keita is over, will Klopp go for a no2. target. If so any ideas who (hes claimed he won't spend for the sake of it) but Brandt was no 1 not Salah.

Hendo/ Gigi/ Can do not have the same style of play. Hendo sits way to deep sideways/ long ball doesn't drive the team forward. Can / Gigi not dynamic enough around the pitch.

Dont get me wrong all good players im judging them against Keita/ Kante, which it appears its what he wants if he's to accomodate Couts in midfield.

{Ed002's Note - I keep ansering this question. It is like deja vu. A flashback.}

14.) 23 Jul 2017 21:15:18
ed002 is Keita keen on the move or is happy where he is keep seeing so many conflicting reports you would think there must be something in there for us to keep it up for so long.

{Ed002's Note - You all seem to be treating this as the most quintessential tranfer ever. It is what has been explained over and over again.}

15.) 23 Jul 2017 21:13:22
I don't think is the end of the kieta saga. Not saying we will definitely get him but I reckon the third offer has divided rbl back stage so to speak. The German mag that reported the offer had been accepted must have got that from somewhere presumably. Management want to keep him, the money men want to sell him. 80 mil is a hell of a lot for someone who isn't fully proven or developed. He could get injured or have a poor season. Anything could happen in the kids life to upset his game. Also he could leave for almost half of what we're offering next year. As a football fan, if it were me I wouldn't sell. A business man would sell for sure hence the divide I reckon may have developed at rbl. Saying that I don't think we will sign him. A player I like and would like to see in red is siggurson. I know he is lacking defensively but that can be fixed. He is a match winner and he is begging for the big stage. Okay he goes missing in some games but arguably he has never played under a truly world class manager. Under klopp I could see him ecoming fantastic. Also he is the kinda guy who will whip in a lovely ball toward a blue *cough* Everton shirt in the last minute of a game. If we can get a top young talent and give Everton a dig at the same time all the better. For some reason he is not a popular choice here but I think he was one of best players in league last year. Maybe best player outside the top 6.

16.) 23 Jul 2017 21:51:37
Money may talk in business but RBL is the wrong team to mess with. They have as much if not more money than City due to their sponsor (Red Bull) and money is of no issue to them. They don't need to sell at any price as they can pay the wages needed to keep their players. They don't need the money and neither do we need the money regarding Couts. Therefore, Keita will not be coming here and Couts will be staying here. Time to move on.

17.) 24 Jul 2017 09:16:29
With how quickly we usually move on to Alternative targets if;
A) we get priced out or
B) another team comes in and offers sh! t loads more.
There must be surely some cause for us continuing on with our pursuit?
We don’t usually fight for players we want, let alone a top class player so i’m feeling very optimistic about it (and even VvD but not so much)

18.) 24 Jul 2017 11:33:20
Hope you're right Phil. Barnes reckons it could go down to deadline day. Hope he's right too.

04 Jul 2017 07:19:18
Hi Eds,
Is JK happy with goalkeepers or is going to look for another?

Tom Poland

{Ed001's Note - he wants to have a look at them all in preseason, but it does seem he is happy for now, as we have shown no signs of moving for one. Shame as Donnarumma was available and he would have solved the keeping for years to come.}

1.) 04 Jul 2017 07:47:23
I doubt we can get Donnarumma Ed01. Wouldn't he be crazy expensive? Like €100m expensive or something insane like that?
Secondly, I believe it would be difficult to sign an "acceptable" left back. There are very few who understand that as defenders, they're meant to defend first.

{Ed001's Note - his contract is running down, he would have been available for a reasonable price.}

2.) 04 Jul 2017 08:14:53
It is rumoured that donnarumma will extend his contract. 5 more years, €6mio a year, buy out clausle of €100mio if milan qualifies for the CL and €50mio if they fail to qualify.

{Ed001's Note - yes and it is very likely to happen now, but that does not mean we couldn't have bought him if we had moved for him first.}

3.) 04 Jul 2017 08:36:43
We didn't sign him because he wasn't at Southampton, and couldn't take him to Blackpool tower, fancy missing out on the future Buffon, maybe we should sign another striker to get over it.

4.) 04 Jul 2017 08:44:24
Im not so sure about that Ed001. I heared Madrid, Paris and a few other CL regulars were interested and if we face reality, we haven't been in the same league as they are for a few years now. Last time we were one of europes top 5 clubs was 10 years ago sadly.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool showed no interest in Donnarumma - neither did PSG. There remains a plan for him going forward and it doesn't involve Liverpool.}

Hi Ed002,
do you know of any plans for further stadium development? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - Obviously the plans are in place but it makes little financial sense right now.}

1.) 07 Mar 2018 18:32:23
The crack that I'd heard was that FSG were looking at the possibility of putting in boxes between a two-tiered Anfield Road end to, in effect, pay for the extra seats which, as the Ed says, would not otherwise bring in extra revenue for their cost.
If those revamped numbers added up, it could be a go-er.

2.) 07 Mar 2018 18:41:17
Another expansion of Anfield at this point will see FSG having to loan more money to the club which sees LFC's debt increase by another massive stadium expansion amount like we saw with the main stand.

There is also another route and that isd FSG instucting LFC to loan money from the banks to service the debt of the expansion LOL.

Not even they are that stupid, neither is the club. Hicks and Gillett all over again if that is the case. If H and G had gone ahead with building that fancy new stadium at Stanley Park which saw FSG writing off massive debt when it came to the plans for the build of the new stadium, then there was no way anyone would have been able to rescue this club from utter financial disaster if the build went ahead when H and G were still here.

16 Sep 2017 17:58:53
Hi Eds,
haven't seen the game today but I feel we need to sign a goalie and at least one CB. Pity we didn't get VVD this summer. Might have made a big difference. cheers Eds. Hope to start a long winning streak srarting next game.

Tom Poland

1.) 16 Sep 2017 18:08:19
I have been saying this for months.
Nobody seemed to agree.

2.) 16 Sep 2017 18:40:37
I think every one acknowledges we have cb issues. I also think karius needs to be given the shirt permanently and by next summer we'll know if we need a new keeper or not.

3.) 16 Sep 2017 18:52:36
How I see it is we only play one way, teams like Burnley we struggle against because our system finds it hard to beat but we don't change anything.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

4.) 16 Sep 2017 18:53:57
Who from liverpools back 4 would get into the top 6 teams. klopp knew this his knowledge of buying defenders has goto be questioned. klavan a crap team international. it makes me sick to see klopp ignoreing centrebacks.

5.) 16 Sep 2017 19:10:27
For me the issue isn't that a near 32 year old Estonian CB bought as cover isn't good enough, it's that the first two choices are Matip and Lovren. Lovren is prone to completely forgetting how to play football and Matip is absolutely useless at the physical side of being a CB in the Premiere League (as well as being a bit lazy) .

6.) 16 Sep 2017 19:33:49
Deano, clearly you want to moan so go ahead. I would caution that saying Klopp ignored the CB position is patently false.

7.) 16 Sep 2017 19:39:58
Centre backs and especially a top class goalkeeper were desperately needed.

Most of the effort went into looking at forwards/ midfielders.

8.) 16 Sep 2017 20:31:20
Yuri, and who would we have signed at top CB esp. if Pep with all his money could not sign the one he wanted? Also, what top class GK would we have signed keeping in mind that Courtois, DDG, Lloris, Oblak, Navas, Leno, Neuer etc. are all taken? I'll wait.

05 Sep 2017 09:35:42
Hi Eds,
do you think there is a chance PC will be included in the squad and play for Liverpool before Jan? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed001's Note - there is always a chance.}

1.) 05 Sep 2017 09:51:04
His back seemed fine yesterday when pushing over that mascot with Neymar. Wouldn't surprise me if he never returned again sadly, I don't think he has a backbone.
He needs to just move on but I just think he'll shy away in case he takes some heat from the usual boo boys.
Yes he has done wrong, but he was chasing his dream, we'd all do it ourselves if LFC came calling for us now wouldn't we?!

2.) 05 Sep 2017 09:55:27
"I don't think he has a backbone. " 😄 Nice one.

I'm pretty certain he will play for us again but he has a lot of bridge building to do 🤝.

3.) 05 Sep 2017 09:58:59
Olrish

Why did you not sell him then mate? What stopped you? If your usual excuses is about a replacement then where is he now that he won't play regardless?

4.) 05 Sep 2017 10:07:36
Surely to god he will be back in the squad for the weekend. Why would we have not sold him if Klopp now won't play him? Jesus what a mess.

5.) 05 Sep 2017 10:28:06
I wanted him sold (if the price was agreed to be fair), he's human after all and chasing his dream of playing for Barca.
When players want to move on, just like in the real world, the employer (in my opinion) should have a heart and let them so long as a fair fee is agreed.
If Barcelona stumped up £120m to 140m or so upfront (given today's prices) then he should have been allowed to go.
He doesn't want to play for us nearly as much as them, we're his stepping stone - how is that so difficult to get?

6.) 05 Sep 2017 10:31:51
I hope you're right Ron Keague.
We'll know by about this time next week or so I'd suggest.

7.) 05 Sep 2017 11:46:18
No oirish kev I wouldn't. There are loads of players who support liverpool but give their heart and soul for their clubs. Deli Ali is a reds fan isn't he? It's not a case of its his dream move to Barcelona or he is on the old rock n roll, signing on every fortnight. If it's true that he is refusing to play for us then he can do one as far as I'm concerned.

8.) 05 Sep 2017 12:33:06
I'm not really talking about players, they will usually go where the highest wages are i. e. Alli.
I was talking about the supposed fans mate.
Next time you're on the Kop, ask a fan there their opinion on it and I guarantee you that they will agree with me.
I would literally give everything in my life (except the wife) for a chance to play in front of the Kop. Maybe I'm an extreme fan, I don't think so. I'm not even from Liverpool mate but the club for many reasons (too many to name fully, fans, stadium, history, older players who I grew up watching and loving) are deep rooted in my heart!
You may not want to give everything to play for the club you say you support, but trust me, quite a high percentage of us would die for the chance. I'm a bit old now though :)

02 Sep 2017 19:38:05
Hi Ed002,
could you please share your thougts on the transfer window? Do you consider it to be a good one for the club? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - It was good for the club in terms of the players they signed, bad for the image to an extreme, and bad for Klopp who needs to find out that being a cheat isn't a good thing.}

1.) 02 Sep 2017 20:49:18
My god change the record.

2.) 02 Sep 2017 20:54:02
Googled jurgen klopp cheat funny thing is the first thing that came up was a song about chelsea.

3.) 02 Sep 2017 21:11:09
Move on. City next. Let's smash em.

4.) 03 Sep 2017 00:54:11
Why so hard on klopp, surly he's not doing anything any other manager isnt?

{Ed002's Note - To an extreme he is.}

28 Aug 2017 13:18:38
Hi Ed002,
would you agree that letting PC go this week would be a very risky decision. Not only in the aspect of the quality and the depth of the squad but more that all other players may think they can force the move anytime they want. Would the owners and JK take that into consideration? thanks.

Tom Poland

{Ed002's Note - No. There is nothing special about this. I don't get it that Liverpool fans don't seem to get that there is nothing special involved in any of their ourtbound transfers - it is all business as usual - sometimes players act up. If they don't want to sell they don't have to.}
