Hello Eds/ fellow reds

Is it looking like Mane is now on pens or is this just in Firmino's absence?

Cheers :)

1.) 30 Jul 2018 11:02:30
When was Firmino on pens?

2.) 30 Jul 2018 11:14:06
Markp08- Firmino took pens last season, missed ones against Seville and West Brom, one of many we missed last season, Milner, Salah missed ones too.
I was suprised to see Mane taking em in pre season, thought it might be Fabinho who has a great record, 1 miss in 20.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 11:19:16
Last season i thought as Milner didn’t start as many games.

4.) 30 Jul 2018 11:46:08
Every goalscorer should be able to take a fairly reliable pen, I see no reason why Mane shouldn't be taking them.

5.) 30 Jul 2018 11:51:21
Certainly nice to have options! I thought it would Fabinho, perhaps it’s Mane instead.

6.) 30 Jul 2018 12:24:25
Hjikle is correct, but I'd go as far as say every player should be confident to take and score a penalty.

7.) 30 Jul 2018 14:38:57
Firmino hasn’t been there so how can anyone answer this?

{Ed002's Note - I am sure he is there in spirit and watching - I also imagine he wobbles his right foot back and forth when a penalty is taken.}

8.) 30 Jul 2018 15:12:47
I think Mane will take them until he misses them it will be Fabinho 👍.

9.) 30 Jul 2018 15:49:59
As long as it is sorted before they hit the pitch. Nothing as embarrassing as players arguing on the pitch about it.

10.) 30 Jul 2018 17:26:43
I think it gives mane added confidence. The only tiny downer on our front 3 last season was that mane's confidence looked like it took a hit after salah was so impressive. This way it gives mane added importance, another 10 goals a season and to be honest I don't know why he wasn't on them before, he is the best finisher in that front 3.

Hi Eds/ Macca

Any further news on Ings going to Palace that you know of?

Have Palace even been in touch or is it all paper talk?!

Cheers :)

I hope we can actually sell a few instead of loans and maybe bring in a flexible attacker with quality fekir would be great but I can't see it been no smoke too the fire after the breakdown of transfer .

2.) 29 Jul 2018 23:17:23
seems there is real interest in Origi ings Markovic Grujic ojo Chirivella and mignolet. Personally don’t think any are quite up to the level, so if they go, fair ennough, wish the best for them. I liked Origi, especially before his injury I thought he was decent, but maybe this will be best for him, and believe Solanke has a better future. We have given a few decent loans to some prospects and maybe Woodburn may get one too.
Think Clyne needs to go for his career, and especially as we could play Gomez Fabinho and Milner there, after taa. Also think one of Lallana ape Gini will leave, guessing Gini.
Always think too many players can be bad for morale, but if we pick our best team now, it’ll be really good seeing a bench of Sturridge, Lallana, Milner, Shaqiri etc who can come on to change a game if needed!

3.) 30 Jul 2018 02:15:29
I hope we keep gini and lallana.

Gini seems to play well in the big games.

LOVING THIS!

Only downside, imo the better we get as a team, the more Lallana looks out of place.

He's not a bad player but just not on the same wavelength as most of our other attacking players.

I think he's been really poor tonight.

What are others thoughts on him?

I have to agree, despite his performances improving I feel he slows the game down. He isn't capable of quick one touch football, and unlike the best players in his position like silva, de bruyne (no I'm not a city fan) he doesn't seem to have his head on the turn all the time understanding where everyone is on the pitch. This means he hasn't worked out his next move until he has collected the ball then taken a look around. Just my opinion but he needs replacing.

2.) 21 Apr 2016 00:01:36
He works hard and creates space. He should have had a hat trick tonight.
Even though he didn't get on the score sheet, he's getting in to the right positions. He's got a major role to play in this team.
Klopp really rates him and in Klopp I trust.

3.) 21 Apr 2016 00:14:07
Like Klopp said if you look lallana always the 1st one to press he's finish not good but the rest of his game he's good .

4.) 21 Apr 2016 00:32:05
Are you kidding?! He presses better than anyone else in the team and starts the press for everyone else! Yes he was wasteful in front of goal tonight but don't let that blind you to the other work he does. He is integral to the team right now!

5.) 21 Apr 2016 01:23:23
I thought Lallana bar the poor finish was really good tonight. Especially off the ball, he holds onto the ball too long sometimes but that's something that can be changed.

6.) 21 Apr 2016 01:54:08
he's useless at building up play and plays it safe all the time. he does manage to find himself in good positions with his workrate but then fluffs it when it comes to making an intricate pass or shot at goal. i also hate the way he gets the ball in space and decides to hold up play and let the opposing team get back into position as he does his fancy turns dodging them. not to mention he has the balance of a pisshead and gets shrugged off the ball all too easily. it is strange. I thought he was a decent finisher as he started his liverpool career. scored some decent goals. must have been flukes. i even thought once he could replace suarez because he looked good on the eye. lol. he needs to go to a midtable club that needs a hardworker. that's his level. no shame in that.

7.) 21 Apr 2016 01:56:55
Firmino and Coutinho all press hard too but they, unlike Lallana can finish and always release the ball in rhythm. Why can't Lallana do that? because he doesn't learn and keeps doing the same thing expecting different results.

8.) 21 Apr 2016 03:50:59
Llalana can be slow on the ball at times, and yes his finishing is poor at the moment, but he's also highly effective at pressing and presenting for the ball and capable of something special with his movement and vision.

He's not on his best form right now but I have confidence he can sort those issues out with good coaching, and with a bit of confidence can become someone very dangerous.

9.) 21 Apr 2016 04:48:51
Agree - Lallana was ordinary in a game where it wasn't hard to look good. I really like him, but he is frustrating to watch.

10.) 21 Apr 2016 05:08:13
Basically if lallana improves his end product he will be just as good as firmino IMO. He's got everything else, the jury is still out for me but he's got to push on till the end of the season otherwise we might see a new AM/ winger taking his spot.

11.) 21 Apr 2016 07:11:13
Klopp seems to be a great fan of Lallana so I don't think he's in any danger of being replaced. I expect Ojo to eventually overtake him in the reckoning.

12.) 21 Apr 2016 10:26:43
WiseRyan you cannot be serious I believe earlier in the season you demonstrated your disgust at Lallana's performances to the extent that you wished him the lowly ranking of a reserve player and that he should be playing with the youngsters (at U21 levels of course! ) . But here we are at blows again as our former Southampton saint and Bournemouth Cherry Adam has turned in a few terrific performances over the past year, certainly under our new German boss Jürgen Klopp (who of course used to manage Borussia Dortmund and 1. FSV Mainz 05). hehehe.

When i first bought my house i found a few good things that the previous owner had done but on the whole i was gobsmacked at some of the ineptitude shown by him with some calamitous DIY.

I imagine Jurgen Klopp is feeling much the same at the moment!

I said it months ago that only after BR leaves will we see the mess he has made by buying players too similar in quality for areas we already have cover in like buying Milner when we already had Hendo and Can or buying Marko when we already had Ibe and the list goes on. Now, Klopp has to come in and fix his screw ups.

But Hamann was at City when Studge was starting out, quite relevant inside knowledge.

Nobody is doubting his ability but what good is ability when you ain't playing?

I thought Hamann summed it up brilliantly by saying he's a luxury we can't afford. If we were blessed with one or two quality strikers or if Benteke could be arsed we wouldn't be so reliant and there'd be an argument.

For me he'll always suffer these injuries. By the sound of things he always has and always will. So it doesn't matter if he goes elsewhere as he'll still spend more time in the treatment room.

There are going to be plenty of strikers out there who would demand a much lower wage, maybe not be as good but over a season will get more goals as they'll not be injured.

We need to be more ruthless. Having faith is one thing but blind faith just holds us back.

Hmm. It's one match at the end of the day. He was immense, which he usually is.

If at the end of the season, or even next, and he's played in 3/4 of the games then i will eat humble pie.

I stand by what i said, if he barely plays he's not worth keeping.

Here's hoping to plenty more of todays showing though :)
