Question for ed002 please.

I understand you do not like to speculate on such things, but if I may ask respectfully, who do you think Liverpool will sign in midfield now that they seemed to have moved on from Lavia?

Your insight is greatly appreciated as always.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool to perhaps stop screwing around and sort out a deal for Lavia. I also think that Gravenberch will still be in the thought process.}

1.) 05 Aug 2023 10:30:39
Regarding CB ed, V de Ven moves elswhere, shuurs unlikely and others also looking unlikely. Do you know any new name on CB? Do you expect a new CB to come before the window end?

{Ed002's Note - Centre Back: Liverpool should be looking to add a CB but have stalled on pushing ahead to try and sign preferred option like Van de Ver and Schuurs. Perhaps they are waiting to make a decision on Jarell Quansah (who had a very good loan last season) or Billy Koumetio (whose loan was not really successful). Schuurs is still available. Pavard is still available. Van de Ver is not. Else Liverpool could stick with Matip, Gomez and Phillips using the youngsters as cover if required. I am not aware of anyone new being considered.

Perr Schuurs (CB) Only signed from Ajax last summer and an enquiry from Spurs was met with a not for sale - but a €40m offer would make them listen - a subsequent Spurs offer was well short of that. I doubt any club would value him at half that but Manchester United, and ten Hag knows him well, and Liverpool have sent scouts and declared an interest before it all went quiet. Napoli offer an option as they have him on their lengthy Kim replacement list. Informal offers from Napoli and Liverpool have been turned away and they have been told the asking price, but may well return. West Ham are keen but want to include a player to reduce the costs. Crystal Palace are concerned that they will lose Marc Guehi and have asked for talks with the club - but the price is seen as high.
Benjamin Pavard (CB/RB) Chelsea see Pavard as a direct replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta but with a RB already purchased for the summer theycan be discounted. The interest of Manchester United will likely not be of interest to the player who won't want to be in playing exclusively as a RB. Inter failed with an offer in January but will return in the summer. Milan have had ongoing issues with the RB position and may look to deal in the summer, something the player is open to subject to being able to play at CB as well. A wildcard option might be Barcelona or Juventus. Bayern are open to a new contract and Thomas Tuchel will not want to be looking for a replacement. Expect a new contract to now be rejected and clubs to open negotiations. Manchester City will offer Kyle Walker as part of a deal. If Liverpool are now interested I can only assume it is via the new Sporting Director.}

2.) 05 Aug 2023 10:44:20
Is Gravenberch is our scouting and analysts thought process or Klopp and Lijnders YouTube favourites?

3.) 05 Aug 2023 12:40:00
Possibly cheaper than Lavia FPF, hence the links with Dewsbury- Hall and Andre.

4.) 05 Aug 2023 12:49:08
FWIW, I don't think we are trying to be cheap on Lavia. I think we're being arrogant.

5.) 05 Aug 2023 14:39:19
Yeah FPF YouTube favourites like MacAllister, Szobo and Gakpo.

6.) 06 Aug 2023 09:02:41
I like the look of Gravenberch Ed seems he hasn’t really been given as much game time as he would like. Is he more of a CM would you say rather than a DM.

{Ed002's Note - Yes but he is versatile.}

7.) 06 Aug 2023 21:29:18
I keep echoing the same message, but if we like Lavia and we think he can succeed in the system, then closing the gap on price seems an easy decision. He'll be worth far more than 50M if he's a fast, powerful, press breaker that's also defensively intelligent that's a key pivot in a modern system. If we don't believe he's that guy, and we've spent all this time on him, then I'm unsure who's in charge at Liverpool and influencing these decisions. It doesn't make sense and seems more rooted in emotion than hard business sense.

Question for ed002 if I may.

I know Barella has been discussed to death but there has been recent reports out of Italy that Liverpool have made a bid.

Now while I realise that is most likely not the case - if the circumstances have changed - could you please give us an update on the player?

Thank you as always.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - Nicolo Barella (CM) Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have had approaches turned away. Don't be surprised of a significant offer from Newcastle or PSG or a further approach from Real Madrid - but Inter don't wish to sell and would no doubt demand something towards €100M or so. Liverpool or Spurs may show an interest but Inter have not been approached by either although they have sent scouts. The player does not wish to leave and is expected to sign a new contract. Long term interest of Chelsea went with the player wanting to stay in Italy - although they could yet try to persuade him otherwise and have spoken with Ale Beltrami who acts as an intermediary. Wildcard may be an approach form Manchester United who have instructed a third party to enquire on their behalf.}

1.) 25 Jun 2023 13:38:41
We all see links to him every day but there’s no need to read them now that you’ve told us it’s around €100 mill. Not a chance that is happening!

{Ed002's Note - That is what they will be looking for - something toward €100M. They will perhaps accept €80M.}

2.) 25 Jun 2023 14:19:23
Inter don't wish to sell and the player does not wish to leave, says it all.

Cheers Ed.

3.) 25 Jun 2023 18:05:46
It does raise an interesting point about how Thuram and Mac Allister would be used. I think some see Khephren as a successor to Hendo on the right of the midfield, others as a challenger to Fabinho and others as a more advanced left sided 8.

4.) 25 Jun 2023 19:02:00
Barella would be a great buy. Think he's far too expensive as we still need a cb but him and macallister would make us serious challengers again.

5.) 25 Jun 2023 20:06:37
Barella a good player but too small. We need some height in the middle now we’ve added macallister. Him and Barella similar types of players.

6.) 26 Jun 2023 14:49:22
Seen him play a few times and as I saw towards end of the season he is bang average at best.

7.) 26 Jun 2023 17:24:31
The worrying thing is, if Barella is bang average what does that make our midfield? Because he’s better than every single one of them.

{Ed025's Note - Sas is not all that imo..

8.) 26 Jun 2023 23:09:54
Barella walks into most starting 11's in world football, not sure what you guys are smoking! Outstanding player, he makes watching Inter (2nd team, long story) a joy.

Hi ed002,

Hope you are doing well.

Does Liverpool hold an interest in Dominik Szoboszlai?

Is he of interest to any PL side?

Thank you in advance.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest but RBL and Chelsea discussed the player during the discussion over Gvardiol.}

10 Jun 2022 16:55:40
Hi ed002,

Hope you are doing well.

Assuming the Nunez deal goes through, will Liverpool still look to buy a midfielder this summer?

Thank you.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - yes but they need to name sales - try and find a buyer for Mane as a starting point.}

1.) 10 Jun 2022 18:07:25
Hopefully Bayern can come up with the funds for Mane Ed?

2.) 10 Jun 2022 18:24:27
Wouldn't be surprised if Mane was told a replacement has to be bought before he can be sold. Are there other teams interested, possibly inquired about Mane besides Bayern Munich?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but Bayern Munich are talking to clubs about to alternate options to Mane as of last night.}

3.) 10 Jun 2022 19:11:26
Interesting Ed to hear Bayern looking at other options. I felt that mane leaving would need to happen if Nunez was to sign.

Think it’d be a mistake at this point to keep mane if LFC had the chance to take a calculate risk on a young forward like Nunez.

4.) 10 Jun 2022 19:22:03
He wants to go end of. get shut. 30m and he's yours bayern.

5.) 10 Jun 2022 19:25:48
Letting people know they are considering other options is just posturing. They have made two offers that we feel under values him but they are clearly keen. It will get done if Nunez gets done - and it will so it will.

6.) 10 Jun 2022 20:08:17
Mane will get his 325k pw, ditto Salah next season at Barca.
Will they be legends at those clubs though?

7.) 10 Jun 2022 21:10:53
Spaceman no they won't because they're both on the decline and it just shows how the power has shifted to us and not Barcelona or bayern. We are the superior club now and we've had their best years by far. Barcelona another team on decline. what do they expect salah to be like after another season with us.

8.) 11 Jun 2022 00:23:23
Diaz, Carvalho, Nunez = the future

Sadio, Bobby, Mo = the past.

Like the man said ‘All things must pass’. The first three are dreams of what can be and the second three are a heartfelt thank you for making dreams come true.

Can we stop chipping away about the contribution the three amigos have made, please?

9.) 11 Jun 2022 06:32:13
A strong attacking midfielder is essential if we're to cross the line! Regardless of Mane situation we need both a powerful and pacy striker and midfielder to go again next season ?.

10.) 11 Jun 2022 18:15:32
WDW, Nunez from the right? You’ve evidently not watched him.

30 May 2022 10:42:51
hi ed002,

Hope you are well.

Two questions please:

1. If the club does not find a suitable replacement for Mane is it a possibility we keep him for the last year of his contract and risk losing him for free?

2. Is Heung Min Son or Harry Kane being looked at as possibilites? I am aware high unlikely it is that we could pay what would be required for them, just curious.

Thank you in advance.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - 1. It is possible but having a player who wants to be elsewhere is never a good idea. 2. No.}

Hello ed002,

I know you've been asked countless times but could you please shed some more light as to why Liverpool do not have money to spend at the moment. You mentioned our owners having been hit harder by C.V. than most, but surely there's other reasons as well. Is because of the new stand and traning ground? Any sort of answer would be much appreciated.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - I have explained this on many occasions. Liverpool's financial model relies on end of season payments to survive - there are payments rolled on from year to year for transfers and new payments accrued for the stadium, the new training complex, ourageous payments to agents and third parties, repaying television companies for their losses etc.. Coupled with the lack of revenue since March and wages etc. still needing to be paid, the result is that there is no surplus money. I have made this very clear on a number of occasions. The Liverpool ex Chief Executive has also explained this.}

1.) 12 Sep 2020 20:46:02
Thanks Ed for explaining this over and over. My question, do any other big clubs use this model? And can you give an example of one who are also struggling like us? Cheers.

2.) 12 Sep 2020 20:46:02
Thanks Ed for explaining this over and over. My question, do any other big clubs use this model? And can you give an example of one who are also struggling like us? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - There are numerous clubs who don't have money to spend and have to sell to buy or are looking to exchange players. Clubs like West HAm have to sell to buy. Real Madrid are looking to recover €190M from sales to cover pandemic losses.}

3.) 12 Sep 2020 21:26:33
Appreciate that Ed. We may as well cash in on some of these fringe players now that needs must.

4.) 12 Sep 2020 21:30:17
Real Madrid could not even afford Van De Beek for 40m this year so what that tells you how C.V. is affecting all clubs and all big clubs, not just Liverpool.

5.) 12 Sep 2020 22:26:45
Just my opinion, but our model is not sustainable to stay in the top 4. I could be wrong, but again, that is just my opinion. Having said that, we don't have any other option right now so we go on.

6.) 12 Sep 2020 22:41:27
Do you think a little something could well happen Ed though if we generate k moo okey from sales? I’m guessing Gini is staying now Also so seemingly meaning we can forget Thiago.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool is trying to sell players.}

7.) 12 Sep 2020 23:00:18
I'd rather be were we are now with FSG than back at the Hicks and Gillett days. Yes we have limited funds for player purchases but we can't always just keep buying. We have a few decent young players to come in and learn their trade, rather than buy to stop their chances. A few of our players are reaching the 30 mark, a time where we need to integrate the kids to learn and take over these positions.

We have a great manager, squad, behind the scene team, ground, training area to name a few. We have a great academy now and looking at the future.

Question for ed001 please. What will happen to Milner in the summer in your opinion? I reckon Klopp would want him to stay but he might want to play regularly at his age especially if Leeds make the prem.

Valent

{Ed001's Note - Klopp has already told him he wants Milner to stay. It is up to him but I think he will fancy a return to Leeds if they get promotion as well.}

1.) 28 Dec 2018 20:53:53
Thank you for the swift response. Would be a shame to lose him. Will be hard to replace him on and off the pitch.

2.) 29 Dec 2018 00:35:08
Tbh as good as he has been, and as valuable as his utility player status is, he doesn’t seem to have 90 mins in him any more.

3.) 29 Dec 2018 11:48:28
I thought we were talking about “James Milner”.

Doesn’t seem to have 90 minutes in him? 🤔.

09 Jun 2018 17:53:19
Question for ed001 please. Do you personally expect the Fekir deal to go through? Thank you.

Valent

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 09 Jun 2018 18:12:43
Nooooooo! Tris what have you done!? You know what happens when you put your kiss of death on things. You mother Fekir!

2.) 09 Jun 2018 18:21:03
Ed001, You are an absolute colossus.

3.) 09 Jun 2018 19:20:06
Lyon release statement that all negotiations with lfc have ended, he will stay at Lyon, amatures.

4.) 09 Jun 2018 19:21:47
Rumours Fekir deal is off.

5.) 09 Jun 2018 19:25:06
Looks like it’s off now.

6.) 09 Jun 2018 19:26:13
Lyon ended all negotiations and deal is off.

7.) 09 Jun 2018 19:30:57
Ffs. Really? Still confident Ed001 mate?

8.) 09 Jun 2018 19:31:29
Ed001 strikes again.

27 Apr 2018 11:16:29
Ed002 please continue to provide transfer updates for us. You are literally the only reason I visit the site. Every time there is a rumour I am sceptical until you confirm it. I believe I am speaking for 99% of the posters here when I say we are eternally grateful for the insight and info you have provided down the years and it would be an enormous loss if you stopped. Please do not let a couple of idiots ruin this wonderful site. We greatly appreciate your contribution!

Valent

{Ed002's Note - It has become too difficult. I am sure the other Eds will help you out.}

1.) 27 Apr 2018 13:34:05
Has something happened again? Anyways am sure this will ease like all the other times. Lookin forward to stoke!

2.) 27 Apr 2018 14:04:53
Maybe something to do with the Gerrard to Rangers thread? I went to bed around the time it was posted but I see it's now been deleted so it probably went down like a dumpster fire with abuse slung at ed002 for merely stating the truth.

3.) 27 Apr 2018 14:27:24
Ed put his opinion out there of Gerrard and a few numpties took offense and clearly knarked ed002 off to a point where he doesn't feel he wants to contribute to our site for a while.

4.) 27 Apr 2018 13:44:23
Hello ED002, some of your replies are FAB keep up the good work.

5.) 27 Apr 2018 16:41:46
Hi WYred

I think it was the tone of the reply which some people found offensive. You would not expect the Eds to call someone a 'c. ksucking' on this site.
That is all I can gather which would have taken some people aback.

6.) 27 Apr 2018 16:35:58
Ed002 mate. take a break, do something for yourself. I am sure many of us have and will always appreciate the knowledge you have passed on to us.

7.) 27 Apr 2018 21:40:27
Oyup I did see that that original tread and thought it was OTT from ed2. Obviously spiralled out of control.

17 Apr 2018 15:50:40
Question for ed002 if I may. Have Liverpool shown any interest in de Ligt? Thank you in advance.

Valent

{Ed002's Note - Please stop with these random questions about players. There is no Liverpool interest in de Ligt. There is a lot of interest from elsewhere and ongoing discussions with clubs, but it does not involve Liverpool in any way or form.}

1.) 17 Apr 2018 22:32:13
Is de ligt off then ed?

{Ed025's Note - love it marshy..

2.) 17 Apr 2018 23:17:36
Is De ligt delight legit?

{Ed003's Note - you're an angel.}
