any truth in the rumour that LFC are lining up a January move for Vitesse Arnhem defender Max Clark?

I would not be signing any young left back unless he could be expected to compete with Robertson immediately. It makes no sense as we'll know in 6-12 months time if Larouci or Lewis are able to step up.
If they cannot make that step in that time period, then sure, but at the moment it wouldn't be an intelligent signing.

Hi ed001 there were a few reports stating that fabinho won't be back anytime soon. Even though it is known he won't be back atleast for this year, is there any setback regarding this that you know?

There was a photo of him doing the rounds yesterday at the Watford game with him in a protective boot and even worse using crutches. I would say end of Jan at earliest if that’s the case.

Great, but if i still ask you considering last season who deserves to win this year's ballon d'or, virgil or messi? just your opinion.
{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I didn't see a lot of La Liga because it is dire, so I can't compare their league performances. It has never mattered anyway, it just goes to which one of Messi or Ronaldo has the most social media followers that year anyway.}

I stopped caring about the Balon D'Or the moment they started making it a political and popularity contest btw Ronaldo and Messi. It's as if no one else but those two is allowed to win it. Luka Modric won it last year (deservedly, IMO) and he and FIFA were getting belted with criticism from the fan boys of those two players on SM. It is a huge shame cos in the past, the Balon D'Or used to actually be a thing. Now, it is rubbish, IMO only used to appease Messi or CR7.

I agree with all of the above it has become a popularity contest between Messi and Ronaldo but wouldn’t that make it all the sweeter if Virgil, a defender got in between them and won it?

Good window for your side Ed25 some good movements there I still think you have an issue at CB however and Pickford needs to improve this year but the middle and front looks on the up! A good run for the Europa League would be a good season of improvement id say.

Ed002, as you'd said months ago Lyon told buyers they would only sell one key player his summer, I have a question.
They already lost their left back to Madrid, lots of talk of bids for Ndombélé and interest in Aouar, plus of course Liverpool interest in Fekir and Cornet. Surely they won't want to lose so many, unless they've decided to take the money and reinvest (one CM already bought)
So do you think anything changed and could you see Liverpool getting Fekir and Cornet or is it on r the other?

I reckon we will sign 2 or 3 players nobody expected to fill in when needed. We do not have to replace any first team players at this point unless some leave.
We can defenitely expect a versatile forward.

I think you could be right about unexpected buys. But like the Van den Berg signing, I knows he’s young and he will be limited to what he can be involved in due to age but I’ve not seen us do a 1st interview player for a player that isn’t expected to be part of first team squad.
Cornet would I guess be unexpected to, other than the Ed’s on this site not seen his name on press.

Vishnu_bobby We have interest in Cornet from Lyon, which seems to be about it at this stage. Speculation is rife with the likes of Pépé, Fernandes and Fekir but very unlikely unless Salah or Mane was to leave. Don’t expect big money to be spent on one player. The likes of Cornet to challenge our front 3 is priority.
That’s what I get so far. Others might say differently.

Max, he is already a first team player. He's made over 20 senior appearances. He's only slightly younger than Gomez when he joined and Joe went straight into the starting XI at left back before his injury. You may be right but you can't patronize other posters with your all seeing all knowing opinion, that he won't even make it onto the pre-season tour. I personally think he'll train with the first team squad and probably replace Camacho on the fringes. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's a perfectly reasonable opinion to have.

Why is that so unimaginable. Last summer Curtis Jones, Camacho, Phillips, kelliher all got game time. He's joining up with the first team for training and is expected to travel on US tour. Why wouldn't he be played? He's Dutch and speaks fluent English, he's played over 20 games in the Dutch top flight so he's obviously capable.
Over the season he won't be featuring much for us of course but I'm sure he'll be given as much opportunity as the other teenagers in friendlies, then play with the u23s when the season starts.
