Regardless of how the game against arsenal pans out, if I was Klopp, I would keep fabinho on the bench until the 85th minute, then tell l him to come on and pull a player back to receive a yellow card so he will miss the villa game and be back for the big 1 against city. Thoughts?

1.) 28 Oct 2019 06:51:40
Or just rest him against Villa.

2.) 28 Oct 2019 06:56:30
I get the thought process mate, shame he didn't do it yesterday mind. I think we need him against villa equally as much as we do against city, the man is phenomenal.

3.) 28 Oct 2019 07:05:40
These plans rarely work out. Ramos anyone?

The new rule change means the totting up of yellow cards applies to each domestic competition separately, whereas a red card suspension applies to the next domestic fixture.

E. g. Fernandinho red means his suspension applies to the league cup game, however, if he had received a 5th yellow in that game, his suspension would have applied to the next premier league game.

6.) 28 Oct 2019 08:02:58
Fabs is the only holding midfielder in the squad but I would still be tempted to rest him v Villa. But if we drew v Villa everyone would complain, that's why Klopp is paid the big sheets to make these decisions.

7.) 28 Oct 2019 15:40:49
Play him from the start against Arsenal. Get a yellow card. Help us get through to quarters of carabao and misses Villa but back rested and thresh for City. All good.

8.) 28 Oct 2019 19:29:59
As it stands now, I don't think Fab can be dropped or rested regardless of the booking issue. He is just too important to us. I mean, did anyone watch him vs Spurs? He was bossing the midfield sometimes on his own. He was picking passes short/ long or left/ right with ease that I think Spurs were shell-shocked as to ho w he was opening them up.

Nobody in the PL IMO, plays the DM role the way he plays it. Not even Fernandinho cos he is a diff. type of DM. I think =he should be rested BUT who is going to play that role vs Villa cos we have literally no one who can do that the same way he does? We will see what Klopp decides.

9.) 30 Oct 2019 00:45:48
I'd play him vs arsenal but I would rest him against villa as gini or hendo can play that role more easily in a game where we should control midfield.

Fabinho has played nearly every game and is the one player in midfield yet to be rotated and he will need a break at some point. I don't see a better time than villa game simply because he can't afford a booking and there's no point playing him in that role while also telling him to be conservative. He's crucial for city fixture but against villa we have the type of midfielders versatile enough to come in.

To anyone that has been watching the U23s, how is Harvey Elliott getting on?

A lot of talk about only bargain basement signings around and no quality signings will come in. Don't forget robbo was 6m bargain basement, and if we were to have signed him yesterday I could only imagine the hate coming his way. (6 times)
If Klopp sees something in a player, history tells me that he can get them up to an amazing level. How many players have turned out that good after Klopp saw them as surplus to requirements? I think a little bit of extra depth wouldn't hurt, mainly because I'm scared to think what could happen if 4 or5 of our best players were injured at the same time. But understand the situation we are in and it's hard for us to bring in players that won't be playing regularly as back ups. But for players Klopp sees as surplus like Wilson, see ya and good luck thanks for giving your all.

1.) 02 Aug 2019 11:30:10
I think everyone agrees are first 11 is good enough to compete in any one off game. The problem people seem to have is the back ups of I would say lalanna shaqiri origi etc and how much of a drop off we have if they all have to come in. Personally I think we have adequate backup to the point we don't need to force a signing. But if say player X is available at a price we deem reasonable and he is willing to join under our wage structure and would be a better option than for arguments sake shaqiri then we will try make something happen.

I fully understand people saying strengthen from a position of power. However I don't feel klopp and the transfer committee have sat there all summer going "nah we don't need him at all". Look at Pepe for example we may have been interested and had in mind we'd pay 50 mill 100k wages and rotation option we spoke to his agent and it was a nonstarter. So I would say we are still trying and hopefully we will still see a player or two come in.

Thing is though Aussie in the current bat s@@t crazy market what is bargain basement . Prices of 25 million being touted for Harry Wilson, 25 million, that would have been enough to get more than a championship quality player a few years ago. Robbo was 8 million but that was two years ago, aside from him I can't think of anyone else that hasn't cost a pretty penny that has made a difference. Even average players are costing a fortune now, I'm not sure bargain basement exists much anymore. If Klopp sees someone he thinks is good enough and suits the team etc I'm sure he will but them, I just don't see them. being bargain prices any more.

3.) 02 Aug 2019 15:55:49
Matip made a massive difference in the champions league and he was free. can't get more of a bargain.

The market is mental now. 25 mil for wilson! that's only around 7 mil less than we paid for the Egyptian king only two years ago!

So happy for Jordan Henderson as he has been unfairly criticized for so long. He is now a champions league winning captain! Origi, how the fortunes of his season have changed as he was just making up numbers early on. Milner, what a way to enter the twilight of his career finally at a real club and all his hard work for Liverpool over the last few years has payed off for him. I could keep going till the last player, but my post is dragging on so on a finishing note, Klopp produced what he promised no.6 is ours, Booya!

That video of him with his father after the match is fantastic. That'll bring a tear to your eye for sure.

Fingers crossed Bobby will be 100% fit for the final. On another note, I think losing last year's final has made us more professional in the way we play and see out games, leads and come back in game never panicking. The team is on another level to last year. 2 games to go, let's see where it takes us. YNWA.

1.) 09 May 2019 08:20:06
To the double ^^.

2.) 09 May 2019 10:23:47
We need too play the occasion an make sure we nail what we do well on the night, belief desire passion confidence ability is required in a big way, spurs can beat anyone on there day that's why this game is dangerous, be interesting too see if Gomez will play as I think we need pace along that back line, but then also the aerial threat of llorente kane, one thing for sure the neutrals are in for a terrific game!

3.) 09 May 2019 11:34:55
Couldn't agree more! Good post.

Come on guys, let's not be talking about this consistently until 2022. Let's enjoy the ride we are on with Klopp now. Plenty of time to pick up this conversation at a later date. Let's not worry about it too much.

Calf strain, 2-4 weeks usually. let's hope it's not that bad. Michael Owen at half time was trying to say that it could be his Achilles. if it was his Achilles he wouldn't have walked off the pitch that's for sure.

We ended up with firmino as a replacement so I'm not fussed about him myself. I do enjoy the reception he receives at anfield though.

It wasn't Smith who orchestrated the ball tampering. It was Warner. Smith copped more than his right wack just for being captain and not stopping it happening. Without him this ashes series would have been half the quality. Aussie Aussie Aussie!

{Ed025's Note - smith is a great player mark, but without him you are a very average side mate, englands top order are no better though and so congratulations to you my friend..

Re dunkins agent, I couldn't have put it better myself ed. I'm sure clubs will still want the player, but surely there will be trepidation about the baggage the player and his agent now drag around. This is just the wrong way to go about things. I was a little surprised at the time we signed him from city that he left for more opportunities. How many opportunities did expect in the year he has been at the club? Maybe he should have signed for a championship team and progressed that way. Or wouldn't he have gotten the wages he has for being at Liverpool? It's just messy.

{Ed001's Note - he would not have got anything like the money if he had dropped down. Make no mistake about it, money is a big factor in this no matter what the agent or player may say.}

I understand a bit of tweaking each season to stay a little unpredictable, but the 1 thing that was near on perfect last season was our defense. That's the 1 thing that didn't need changing imo. I'm interested to see how the next month or 2 plays out and if it's true, or whether our defense is just a little rusty.
